Swiss Grand Xiamen has always been our family’s preferred hotel whenever we visit Xiamen. We have always had a positive impression of the hotel and its services. Unfortunately, during this stay, we experienced an incident that left us extremely disappointed and, more importantly, concerned for our family’s safety and privacy. When we checked in, a hotel staff member informed us that the swimming pool was open. Our six-year-old niece was very excited and went to the pool with her father. After swimming, her father waited outside the women’s changing and shower area while she showered and dried her hair. While he was waiting outside, a woman who identified herself as a fitness center member suddenly began yelling at him and accusing him of looking into the women’s changing area. He immediately explained the situation to both the woman and the hotel staff and clearly stated that he was simply waiting outside for his daughter. He even asked the hotel to review the security camera footage to verify that he had never entered the women’s changing area. Unfortunately, the woman became extremely agitated and continued yelling at him. She also took photos and videos of him in an area where photography is prohibited. Hotel staff were present at the time but did not immediately stop her from recording. The situation was so frightening for our six-year-old niece that she eventually ran back to our room crying and visibly distressed, still not fully dressed, and told us what had happened. Our biggest concern is whether the woman may have captured images or videos of our minor child. We later reported the incident to the hotel manager and asked that the woman delete any photos or videos she had taken. However, she refused to do so. We would also like to specifically thank Mr. Zhong, the hotel lobby manager, who was very helpful and made a sincere effort to assist us and mediate the situation. Unfortunately, the woman refused to communicate with us or cooperate with our request to delete the photos and videos. We sincerely want to ask: What exactly did this father do wrong by waiting outside the women’s changing area for his six-year-old daughter? He was even willing to have the security footage reviewed to prove that he had done nothing wrong. Why, then, did he have to endure such aggressive accusations and unauthorized recording? We understand that misunderstandings can sometimes occur between hotel guests. However, before the facts were confirmed, there was no justification for such aggressive behavior or for taking photos and videos of another guest—especially in an area where photography is prohibited. Our primary concern is not to escalate this matter unnecessarily. We simply hope that the hotel will take this incident seriously and help ensure the privacy and safety of our family, particularly the privacy and protection of our minor child’s image. We have trusted and chosen Swiss Grand Xiamen for many years when visiting Xiamen, which is why this incident has been especially disappointing and upsetting. We sincerely hope the hotel can provide us with a responsible and reassuring response regarding this matter.

One of the older 5-star hotels in Xiamen but impeccable. Rooms have views of the world heritage Kulangsu on the sea view, corner suites look over the city. Good restaurants, wonderful staff. Can get a little crowded with tourists groups so try to avoid using the lifts between 8.30 and 9.30; same applies to the breakfast restaurant. Try the local Minnan food options at the Chinese restaurant!
The hotel’s location is convenient, which we appreciated. However, the parcel collection system needs improvement. After we returned from China, the hotel staff questioned whether we had mistakenly taken someone else’s parcel. We found this situation quite uncomfortable and somewhat offensive, as we would never take items that do not belong to us. We believe the hotel should review and improve their parcel handling process to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future.
I booked this hotel because we were a group of 15 and needed 5 rooms. This is a pretty big hotel and can easily accomodate us. It was also the best price we could get for the requirements that we had. Really value for money! Big rooms, great for family, our regular room had 2 almost queen size beds, a bathtub, toilet and shower that was separate from each other and i liked that i had the option to see the tub from the room so i can leave the kids in the tub and still be able to do other stuff in the room. The room was big enough to fit 3 large lugagges opened, with my open stroller parked and with lots of shopping stuff laying around. The breakfast was only till 1030am, the food was almost the same everyday, but quite a number of options so it was enough, if you are staying and decided on slow mornings, best to have breakfast in the hotel as there is nothing nearby to grab or eat or you will have to have something delivered. Family friendly, great for seniors as they have elevators, big rooms and big hallways. Great for kids because they also have a play area on the 2nd floor where kids can play and spend their energy if you get bored. Great for parents because it is easy to navigate with strollers and kids. The staff is a hit and miss though. Mostly good staff but a few who are rude especially in the reception area. Most of the cleaning staff and floor staff are great though. Although not everyone will speak english, there are a few who can and they will connect you to them so you can request what you need. You can request for additional towels, bed rails for children, slippers, for the water, i ask the cleaning staff to give me extra so i won't be charged by the reception. Big driveway, great for when you call for taxi (didi) and the staff helps you open doors and load or unload your things. Nothing much to do in the area so best to use as a base in case you want to explore xiamen mostly by car. Walkable to zhongshanlu (around 10-15mins walk) but might not be for older people or younger kids. In front of the old terminal to go to gulanyu. Unfortunately we didn't have a great view but i think if you are placed facing gulanyu it would be really nice... The only negative for this hotel are: 1. The first time you enter the room there is a strange old smell (might be mold?) but dissapears after. 2. Aircons don't work during winter but they do provide either a heater or a portable aircon if needed. 3. There is no bidet. So gotta use toilet paper. IYKYK.
This hotel is great. Room service is excellent and location is perfect. This hotel is close to seafood market, ferry terminal and famous Jungsan road. Highly recommend to stay when you visit Xiamen.
