Shaoxing Marriott Hotel Shangyu

I travelled to Shaoxing and stayed at this property very recently. Given the Mariott brand name there is a certain level of expectation. The property upkeep and rooms were upto the Mariott standards. Given that it is a global brand in the hospitality space I was expecting that someone in the property could converse in English and guide/ help when needed. There was not a single person who could guide when I asked for some advice regarding local sight seeing and shopping. In addition it was shocking to see that there is no food option for vegetarians or vegans and they were quite insensitive when requested for. Also one of the evenings I requested for a coffee at about 8.30 pm and one of the staff told me that locals don't drink coffee at that hour hence, it is not availalbe which was bit strange. While the property is generally good and kept clean it is out of the city and there are not much things to do around the place. There were two staff members who were fabulous and helped were Grace and Kevin. Would like to thank them for their timely help.

Big room and comfy, indoor swimming pool, staff kind, delicious food

I stay at this place over 20 nights a year for business trips and it has never let me down. Room is clean and facilities are like new. Love the pool! Restaurant is also nice. Location is not walkable to anywhere though.

Great rooms and good breakfast. Staff could not speak well English and the location is rather remote.
