Huangshan Baiyun Hotel

Choosing a hotel in Huangshan is critically depending on how much walking you like to get to one. With little knowledge, we’ve chosen this Bai Yun. Location is perfect where it’s between the turtle peak and GuangMing peak. The area is less crazy with people compared with GuangMing hotel because everyone congregates there for the “highest point view for sunrise and sunsets. Sunset is perfect from Turtle peak within 15 mins walk / hike from Bai Yun hotel. I love this place because of the service level. The manager there anticipates your next needs. While checking in, Ms Huang, the manager comes by to ask if we have planned out our hiking route, she offered ideas, then she anticipate if we need reservations for dinner. She connected me with WeChat and literally I received important information like the weather, sunset timing, sunrise timing, if we need to reserve a place to stargaze at 4am etc. It was really nice not to think about if the weather is gonna turn bad. Good location, room was good but the walls are very thin so you can hear everything in the next room. The “butler” service seems performative. They offer a lot of free stuff including a coffee if you provide a 5 star. But when I actually needed their help they were unwilling to help. I left something in the room and apparently it was impossible to sent it to the town even though they send luggage down for other people. I had to trek back an hour because the butler named Huang Xinghua said it was too inconvenient. Crazy how the service changes after you check out and already have a 5 star review on trip.com which you can modify. Very disappointing for the price you pay.

great location, amazing service. room is clean, the service is above and beyond. location can not be beaten. walkway to the xihai ropeway is so beautiful it deserves to be its own attraction the hotel is older style but very clean. heater work great. insulation also good. breakfast can be improve with better taste food

Highly recommend! The hotel has a great location close to bright summit which means its ideal for a short sunset and sunrise hike. The staff is extremely helpful, specially Xiao Ye who responded to all my queries in a timely manner. The staff provided updates like dinner time (menu), sunrise time, sunset time, weather conditions (probability of rainfall, frost, sea of clouds) through the wechat app. The hotel amenities are value for money, and they also provide torch light (for a night walk, sunrise/sunset) and winter jackets. Just a note that there are no elevators but that should not be an issue - only 5 floors. The hotel used ecological material for construction, hence the walls are thin, please be mindful not to make big noises to enjoy the peace and calm of Huangshan. The breakfast provided was good, and during my stay the staff provided local snacks, extra water and some tea leaves for a foot bath. There was also an opera performance by the hotel staff during the evening. Bai yun hotel exceeded my expectations, cant wait to be back to experience the winter wonderland or during spring time.
