Hangzhou Merchant Marco Garden Hotel

An incredible four-star hotel at a ridiculous price. Modern, spotless and very high quality throughout, with a spacious room, excellent bed, great shower and Japanese-style toilet. The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help despite limited English. Breakfast was excellent and, as I stayed during the working week, naturally catered mainly to Chinese guests. The 24-hour laundry is a great bonus. The location is more business-oriented, but shops and restaurants are nearby. Outstanding value for money.

This hotel offers good value for money. The downside is that it's a bit far from the city center, requiring about an hour's drive. However, location doesn't determine its quality; it's truly comfortable. There's a free gym on the lobby floor, but I don't think there's a swimming pool. Free laundry and drying are on the 5th floor, and breakfast is on the 3rd floor (paid). The room TV is a projector, but it requires a membership to watch, which is a bit useless. I forget if it's Mango TV or iQiyi. The bed is a large and comfortable king-size double bed. The curtains are automatic, and there's a machine on the table next to it that lets you listen to music and contact the front desk. While you can't select your favorite songs, the available music is quite chill. The room lighting is gentle, not too bright or too dim. The toilet has a separate shower and a smart toilet. The shower head is large, and the hot water is sufficient, making shampooing a pleasant experience. There's a shampoo conditioner and body wash! There's also a hairdryer, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, indoor slippers, and a refrigerator. The vanity has a smart mirror, making makeup application convenient. They provide a coffee machine with coffee capsules, tea bags, canned soda, mineral water, and small cookies. I booked a 3-day, 2-night stay and it was a really comfortable experience overall 😌

Why is the score so low? It's a new hotel, and the facilities are excellent! The front desk staff are also very enthusiastic. This score should be higher! For my first visit to the Grand Canal of Hangzhou, I chose the UrCove by HYATT Hotel, a business hotel in the nearby area. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were large and clean, the staff were proactive and friendly, the breakfast was plentiful and featured local specialties, and the location was convenient for transportation in the Hangzhou area.
