Star Hill Culinary : The Food Tour

Our food tour was amazing! We don't speak any German sadly (sorry!) but Ursula was super accommodating and did the whole thing in English! She gave us loads of history as well as good food and was such a lovely tour guide! We loved this experience and would absolutely recommend!

Michael was a very friendly, open and enthusiastic guide who showed us in a professional and fun way the Schanzeviertel. Has a good eye for what the group wants - would def recommend!

We had a wonderful time with our charming guide Micheal. He was very knowledgeable and he showed us some very cool spots. The places we went to eat were also amazing, alot of variation in flavours. Would recommend this tour if you want to get to know the city a little bit more and also take breaks to eat lovely food.

Sonja was an excellent guide for our group of 10 colleagues. She had interesting anecdotes and we learned a lot about the history of Hamburg! We were all native English speakers - her English was better than ours.

We wouldn't have seen this district of Hamburg if not for this tour, and Ute was the perfect guide. We has a nice small group and her friendliness made us all friendly which really added to the memorable experience. The Sternstanze district provides a clear window on the leftist community and activism characterizing this area, and Ute is well versed in the district's history and continuing importance. As political progressives ourselves (living in a country currently hostile to progressive thought), it was refreshing to have a guide without prejudice against such activism. The 5 food stops were of course interesting and satisfying (curry wurst, anyone?), but far more filling and enriching was Ute's historically informed storytelling.

My husband and I took this tour to learn more about Hamburg (my home town). This tour did not disappoint! Ute is a highly experienced and knowledgeable tour guide with a great sense of humor who takes her time to answer all questions. The food was fantastic and you really get to eat your fill. So make sure to come hungry!

Angela ist unglaublich sympathisch, herzlich und bestens vorbereitet. Mit viel Wissen und Begeisterung hat sie uns das Schanzenviertel nähergebracht und uns mit vielen spannenden Geschichten einen ganz besonderen Einblick in dieses lebendige Viertel ermöglicht. Auch die Auswahl der Restaurants war vielfältig und ausgesprochen gelungen. Jedes hatte seinen eigenen Charme und hat Lust darauf gemacht, noch mehr zu entdecken und auszuprobieren. Ursula accompanied us through the colorful neighborhood. We immersed ourselves in historical, past, and present life. Thank you for selecting various dishes that enriched the afternoon from a culinary perspective. We can highly recommend this excursion to everyone.

We did the food tour through the Schanzenviertel with Ute and it was really great! 😊 Ute was very friendly and personable and told us a lot of interesting information about the neighborhood. It was especially great that we stopped at five different stations and tried delicious snacks at all of them. 🍴😋 A great mix of delicious food, exciting stories, and interesting information about the Schanzenviertel. Since the two of us were the only ones signed up for the tour, we basically got a private tour for the same price. Our guide Bettina was very patient with our needs and spontaneously changed the route so that we could also manage with a wheelchair. She pointed out many details along the way and knew many interesting stories to tell about them. The culinary stops were very individual and well-coordinated with each other. Overall absolutely recommended, a tour like with a good friend.

Ute D. offered us a great tour through the Schanzenviertel. The meeting point was easy to find, and the tour started on time; we were a small group (Ute and 3 people in total), which greatly facilitated the exchange. Ute conveyed her love for her city very well, always telling good anecdotes about the individual places, and we regularly took breaks in selected venues to try culinary specialties from Hamburg or around the world. Special diets and intolerances were always taken into account, so everyone could enjoy a great time without stomach aches. The tour was neither too long nor too short, and we gained great insights into both Hamburg's history and culture as well as that of the Schanzenviertel. On our next visit to Hamburg, we will certainly book such a tour again and explore a new district! Thank you very much, Ute, for your very friendly manner and the great tour!

Our guide Ursula was simply excellent. Very nice, and she organized and led the tour wonderfully. There was a lot of information, 5 small dishes like summer rolls or small cakes. Nice and interesting locations. Definitely recommended.

The Food Tour star jump culinary was great. There were two of us and had a nice, interesting afternoon on the food tour. Our guide (UteD) was great. She told us a lot of interesting and was very friendly. The food was delicious.

A very nice experience that gave us an extensive insight into life, history and political circumstances in the district. Bettina was very brilliant at supporting this with numerous anecdotes. The culinary stops were very aptly selected and a complete treat.

A cold day in Hamburg, was enjoined in company with a smiling guide with good stories. The food was exciting and different so exactly what we were looking for, to experience Hamburg in a different way.

Great guide that gave us interesting history for the area. The Italian restaurant and the last one (where we got a very good gyoza) was the best. The group of 5 people was just right because of the surroundings and its sound was sometimes difficult to hear the guide. There was a bit of time constraints at the end, so maybe you can reduce the restaurant visits to 4 instead of 5.

Today we did the culinary star jump tour with Rainer U. It was great from start to finish!!! Rainer told me great, he had a great knowledge of the neighborhood. He took us to nice places. The food was delicious and even more than we thought. Rainer talked in peace and we were able to eat in peace. So we were traveling much longer than described on the Internet. It was a wonderful time for us! Every minute it took longer was worth it!!! We would book a tour again at any time!

Super guide who was immersive and knowledgeable good trip and good food. Well arranged. Can be highly recommended. We were only 2 - but the trip was sovereign and in English.

Don't be too hungry, it was 4 small dishes and dessert. A little boring choice of food, no real dinner. Good guide though

Dedicated guide but choice of food could have been better. All dishes were small dishes and only one German dish, Currywurst. Drinks not included. Restricted area.

We liked the Culinary Star Hill Tour very much, that was probably also due to our guide Rainer who passed on so much knowledge about Hamburg to us , we felt very comfortable with him 😉 The tasting was plentiful and delicious we would definitely do this tour again. We find the price performance ratio perfectly fine.

Super round trip in the neighborhood, with the story of transformation from working neighborhood to a little more hipster and expensive area. We visited the old water tower that has been converted into a 4-star hotel. We ate at different restaurants and a little good at each place. Ursula was skilled to also speak English even though it was a German speaking trip.

It was a nice tour through the famous Schanzenviertel (where the “Red Flora” is also located). The nice tour guide had all sorts of interesting stories about the area.

The Schanzenviertel is pretty much the smallest district in Hamburg. Our guide told us a lot about the history and told us some nice stories about this neighborhood. The food samples were all very good, but it all took place in the nightlife street (shoulder leaf) of the neighborhood. Overall a nice afternoon in the Schanzenviertel.

We had a really great time at the guided tour "Sternschanze kulinrisch" in Hamburg! Reiner inspired us with his deep knowledge of the history and life in the neighborhood. Die Tour war spannend, das Wissen unseres Tour-Guide Pete enorm. Die Restaurants waren allesamt cool und das Essen meistens fein, einzig die (kalte) Sommerrolle war gewöhnungsbedürftig und hat mir nicht geschmeckt.

We were a small group, 4 people. The guide Rainer U. explained the history of the neighborhood with a lot of love. He has responded to our pace since we are older. This made the tour last 4 hours. The choice of food was very successful.

A good tour with lots of interesting information about the Sternschanze. 5 restaurant stops (Vietnamese, Pakistani, Hamburg bakery, Hamburg variation of a French dish, Portuguese).

We took part in the culinary city tour through the Sternschanze on Saturday afternoon, December 2nd, 2023. This tour with Rainer was very good and informative. The stops for refreshments were well chosen and there were very tasty little things. The stories about the Sternschanze were very informative and you could tell that Rainer knows his stuff very well. Unfortunately it was very cold but still exciting, the food was delicious and international. We are already looking forward to the next tour 👍😊 Thank you again for the lovely afternoon.

Unser Guide Uli hat sich viel Zeit für unsere Tour genommen. Er hat in einer sehr lockeren Art und Weise uns die Schanze näher gebracht.
