Hamburg Light Cruise 90 Minutes – Speicherstadt & Hafen At Night

We booked for 1800 but we were told by the company at the site there wasn't a 1800 we had to be there for 1600 (be here for 4 at dock 4 we were told), sad really because we wanted to sail for the evening lights, it wasn't dark enough. I would have given a 1 star but the staff onboard the vessel we lovely and it was a beautiful boat.

Beautiful tour of Hamburg’s Speicherstadt and working harbour by night. Gives a unique view of the city. Elbphilharmonie - superb sight. Get there early to get your spot… and forget about queueing! With usual German attention to having a good time, you can order a beer or wine at your table, from a very genial waiter. I left this tour even more in love with Hamburg than when we set off.

It was mentioned during the booking that it’s in English but this tour is completely in German language

Sadly, we can't tell you about the tour because it was not in English nor did it provide any translation. Our tickets say English audio, but there was only German. Those around seemed to enjoy it.

Great way to see the city in only 3 hrs. We covered lot of ground ! My teenage sons loved the Segways. So easy to learn. Highly recommend !

It was fun! The map link on the Trip Advisor website took us to the wrong meeting place but fortunately we had left enough time. We only saw the sign to download the English audio at the end of the trip so we hadn’t a clue about what the guy was saying but we still managed to enjoy the ride. As we were travelling towards the experience we say the largest container ship in the world docking, and our ride included a close up view of it at the end. It extended the trip and was a fabulous experience.

The view of the Elbe lit is magical! A such a different perspective of the river in daylight. Would that i had relative silence to enjoy it and the excellent app with such interesting and informative facts on the Hamburg harbour. But the tour guide bellowed the German version in a manner that left me feeling as though i had been verbally & physically assaulted for more than an hour. I left the boat feeling traumatised. I understood not a word, but the violence spoke volumes to me. I could not recommend this tour to anyone. I abhor violence in all forms. I would not subject anyone to such verbal violence

Was ok, doing it in November meant it was too cold to stay on deck but table service at the bar inside was ok. Saw a lot of the harbour workings all lit up

It was a pretty crowded. I had specified that my preferred language (English) and still, the tour was made in German so I didn’t understand the info that the guide was saying. Which was a shame because he was giving a lot of facts about the different places. The drinks weren’t good. The view was really pretty though! And they were making a party vibe so it was fun.

The tour takes you along the river and on the night we went, there just happened to be fireworks! It was truly lovely. I gave 4 stars because although I bought the English tour, the app did not work for me and I was not able to understand anything.

This tour is of the Hamburg harbor at night the tour director only spoke German so couldn’t get the history of the harbor. Mostly all just loading dock lights. Not really a spectacular light display. The boat was really nice. The meeting location was not where described on the site it’s actually down at the dock.

Very good information, interesting tour. Would repeat and recommend it any time. The guide was very well prepared and provided interesting and fascinating details.

A great atmosphere on board! Amazing service! A wonderful way to see all the big Container ships in the harbor! I would recommend it anytime!

If you are solo traveller great way to see the seedy side safely Stark contrast to the wealthier part of town and an education in exploitation of the vulnerable

Given wrong boarding deck, we were there 30 mins prior to departure, a boat matching the description of the tour company was there and the staff didn’t acknowledge us at all. It got to departure time and they started to leave so we called to them only for them to tell us this boat had finished and the boat we should have been on was just leaving two docks away. No clear signage. Asked for a refund and was told as no one else has complained we couldn’t have one. Avoid, better off throwing your money directly in the Elbe!

Was really looking forward to doing this tour, followed the ticket info to bridge 1 30 minutes before the time of booking (as advised) and looked for someone to ask about boarding details, by the time we had found someone to as the boat was just leaving unfortunately. Absolutely gutted as it was our last night in Hamburg so couldn’t re-use ticket which was what was offered instead of a refund. Very disappointing 😞

Beautiful views! We knew from the start that the tour is in German with English audio as an option, but looking at other reviews, I would say there are MORE than enough English-speaking travellers for the operators to consider adding more English tours.

This tour doesn’t give a viable English option in order to enjoy the experience. The Audi version is an application you need to download and have headphones to follow along which limits your interaction with other people and there is no instruction on when to play each segment of the tour. The drinks service was extremely slow. We didn’t get our drinks almost 45 minutes into the tour but the order was taken within first 5 minutes. The views were nice but we didn’t know what exactly we were looking at. Disclaimer: the tour guide was interacting with the German speaking guests and they seemed to have fun. If you choose this tour show up 30 minutes early because the seating is first come first serve and the spots by windows fill up fast.

Tour was in German with an English App to give commentary. This only told facts about the various points of interest and so was quiet alot while the German Guide was talking nearly all the time and had those understanding German laughing. For those not understanding German it's a bit dull and not worth wasting the time or money.

Great tour. If you understand German it s even better as the "guide" has a lot of little stories about the places. Sit on the right of the boat

The tour is in German with an app required to be installed that explains in English. The app did not work for us so we unfortunately couldn't understand anything.

We booked the boat tour as a teambuilding activity during our offsite, and loved the experience. The harbour itself is fascinating and we got to see the way it all worked up close and personal, and even got to go through some of the inner canals and see the older parts of the city. I would highly recommend taking this tour and I got positive feedback from the rest of the team as well. You can also buy drinks on board and they have plenty of seating. The only downside is that they asked us before boarding if we spoke English and when we said yes they sent us to a different boat... where they proceeded to speak to us only in German 🤔 Luckily we had someone who could translate most of what was explained but we definitely missed out on a lot of information because of this. Though we were not promised that it would be in English at any point, it still gave us hope when they sent us to board a different boat so we were a bit disappointed when they gave the whole tour in German. TL;DR - overall a great tour through the harbour and city with drinks and comfortable seating, but unfortunately everythin was in German despite them checking that we spoke only English.

It was a nice tour I did on my first night, one advise, I like the ship and the view, I have is to arrive early to have good seat and view, one down side is the voice of guide was low and in Germany language

Beautiful trip, nice boat, once we found it; All were full, send on and on to five different boars AND , it sails at 20.30, NOT 21.00 as you describe. Thank God we were there Early!

I booked a wheelchair accessible boat tour and when I got there the roundabout guide was so rude to me. He also turned away another wheelchair user. He wasn't much help getting onto the boat. There was steps through the boat and there was no disabled toilets. The tour was in another language and we couldn't get the code to get the tour in English on our phones. Also the boat was missing half the drinks off the menu.

The fantastic stern wheeler, romantic ship. But the route is to look at containerships and that's it. If you want a date, please take other not so romantic cruisers. Such a shame an old incredible ship is used so poorly.

There were no English codes for the app… It also said that the ticket was for the Schpeicherstadt but that was not true, the boat just went to the port. Disappointed!!!

The boatride itself was smooth in a Mississippi-like peddleship. The German narrator/guide was actually quite funny telling various stories about the harbour. However, despite the few lucky shots of seeing the infamous Evergreen ship and one of Putin’s yachts it wasn’t all that spectacular in the end. Just okay.

The ride itself, especially getting up close to some of the world’s biggest container ships, was fascinating. However, the description of the boat’s location was incorrect on the mobile ticket. Having a ticket also does not warrant there will be enough space on the boat. Make sure to arrive early enough to go looking for your boat, and to still have enough room.

Interesting ride with beautiful lighting

The light cruise through the Port of Hamburg was a truly beautiful experience for us. Especially at dusk and later in the dark, the port develops a very special, almost romantic atmosphere. Particularly impressive is the trip past the giant container ships from HMM and Evergreen. When you sail directly alongside these giants, you finally get a sense of their incredible dimensions. Add to that the illuminated container bridges, cranes, and terminals – a fascinating mix of port romance and impressive technology. The many lights are reflected in the water, and together with the last light of the sunset, truly great impressions are created. The ship itself, the Louisiana Star, also fits wonderfully with such an evening cruise with its classic paddle-wheel look. Inside, it is cozy and furnished in a slightly nostalgic way. The interesting information during the trip was also very positive. You learn quite a bit about the Port of Hamburg, the terminals, ships, and daily operations. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive – there is absolutely nothing to complain about here. There is, however, a significant minus point for the music: We found it truly terrible and not at all fitting for this beautiful and romantic backdrop. With calmer, more atmospheric musical accompaniment, the experience would have been nearly perfect for us. Conclusion: A wonderful way to experience the Port of Hamburg from a completely different perspective. Sunset, illuminated port facilities, gigantic container ships, and lots of interesting information make the light cruise a special Hamburg experience. Despite the music, which was completely inappropriate for us, a clear recommendation! ⚓️🌅🚢✨

Everything worked out great, very friendly staff, entertaining comments. Be there early enough for a seat of your choice. € 30 / ticket is a word, drinks also not cheap - but what is that in Hamburg? A successful evening, was fun.

Wir hatten die Fahrt mit dem 'historischen Raddampfer gebucht, wurden aber mit einem normalen Boot abgefertigt: daher nur 3 Punkte, obwohl die Fahrt interessant und gut erklärt worden war. -- Was angeboten wird sollte auch eingehalten werden ...

Die Ausstattung des Schiffs war richtig gut. Edel und großzügig gehalten, so dass man nicht beengt saß. Ein toller Mitarbeiter, den man leider nicht sah, der aber alles über Mikrofon genau erklärt hat. Warum Lotsen sein mussten, was die Verschiedenen Farben auf dem Wasser zu sagen hatten usw.es ist sehr informativ gewesen. Ein großes Lob auch für das nette Personal.

A very nice 1-hour harbor tour/light cruise through the Hamburg harbor at 9 p.m. Drinks were provided. The staff and the guide were very nice and friendly. Really recommended for groups and couples.

Informative 1-hour boat trip through the Speicherstadt and the Hamburg harbor. The guide was great, everything was explained well and with that certain Hamburg charm. The lights of the harbor, the buildings all around and the lights in the Speicherstadt created a great atmosphere for photo opportunities. A clear recommendation from us.

A bit confusing. The picture shows paddle steamers, but the boats are actually barges. Of course, if you can read... nothing else gets through under the bridges of the Speicherstadt... despite my initial disappointment, it was great and informative. Nice staff, the harbor and the Speicherstadt from a completely different perspective. It was worth it...

O áudio em inglês é complicado. Não conseguimos fazer funcionar pelo celular. O apresentador só falava alemão e apesar de não entendermos nada ele era muito prolixo, falava demais.

Wir waren sehr enttäuscht, es war nur eine Hafenrundfahrt am Abend und keine besonderes Lichtspektakel. Wer eine Hafenrundfahrt am Tage gemacht hat bekommt das gleiche zu 95 % am Abend erzählt.

Guida solo ed unicamente in tedesco. 15minuti davanti ad una nave per container. Bella Amburgo di notte ma senza capirci niente direi anche NO!

Var ikke det båd som var vist på billedet som sejlede. For få pladser udenfor, så vi sad inden for og var ikke til at se ordentligt. Lyden på guiden var for høj, vi fik hovedpine alle sammen.

The light on Elphillarmonia was incredible, with a different perspective than from the earth. The visit to the canals was beautiful too. Only negative: comments in German, and the application for English did not work well.

We had booked the lights ride to see the Speicherstadt at night. When we arrived at the meeting point, it would mean that this ride in the form has not taken place for a good six months or the Speicherstadt is not illuminated at all at the current time. We would have liked to have had this information before or you should adjust the tour here on Tripadvisor. We were offered as a replacement a harbour tour, which was fine.

It was a nice nightlight ride. Couldn't see that much. But have booked because of the beautiful view with the lights. But the moderation was appealing and funny. Very good and I would also recommend

It was a ride in the rain and it was cold, so the windows were heavily fogged. You try to get a lot of guests on board, super tight! The explanations are quite good but you didn't see much as I said. Lights, hm I expected more, too bad
