Saw alot but one day is not enough time to see everything plus the two boat tours. We couldn’t even find the harbor cruise point. I suggest you buy the 2 day pass! It was a holiday so most the shops were closed. The windows at the reperbahn were empty. Overall worth it!
When you book with Viator Be very carefulWhen I booked this tour for my stay in Hamburg which was supposed to be from the 28th till the 1st I understood that I could do the hop On hop off and the lake tours a day of my choosing but on the 29th when I went to book it I couldn't find any of my Booking so I called and the girl that I talked to say Cancel that and book a new one you'll get your refund in 5 to 7 days so I canceled and booked another one and it was the same tour just for the next day Because I booked the identical tour for the next day I really believe I should have got a refund for the first day it didn't cost you anything and the information I got was very sketchy even when I checked on the tour it said that I could pick the start day anytime but that option was not available when I wanted to start my tour There should be some consistency between what you say and what you do I travel a lot this is not a threat it's just a statement but if I do not get my refund from radiator there are other tour operators out there thank you for letting me vent
English option advertised, hard to find. Many of the outlets on the bus did not work. We had to disembark and wait for another to find working audio outlets. Those who understood German had it easy, others not so much. The driver would add I do only in German so we don’t know what we missed. The boat trip was only offered in German. We were supposed to download an English audio guide and bring headphones but the pre-tour information was missing. If it weren’t for Marcel at the dock who allowed us to use his hotspot, we would not have had ANY idea what we were seeing
This tour does not have much flexibilty if you miss one of the two cruises. We were lucky to get on the Alster cruise as it was booked out by a visiting cruise ship - there was only room for the two of us. There was no time to hop off the bus and catch a later bus. The two cruises were enjoyable and informative,
A good way to see the most of the city in a limited time. We were on a cruise and had only part of a day to spend.
The bus was great with earphones provided by the bus line to listen to English narration. We purchased the triple tour which included a boat tour tour on the Elbe river. The tour narration was only in German with no translation until we remembered we had Google translate which enabled us to read the translation. The lake tour we were told we were too late to participate yesterday as the last boat left at 3:30 pm. We were there about 4:10. They said we could go the next day at 10:30 a. m. There are different lines for the hop on hop off so beware of this as we did Line A yesterday and we're going to use the same ticket as it should have been good for 24 hours. When we boarded the bus today we didn't realize it was Line C which we were required to buy a new ticket.
No very happy, this is the first time in all the tours that I had done that there are not in English speaking :( main tour guide
The hop on hop off tour was a great way to not only have a bus pass to all the tourist locations (which our ticket was good all weekend) but to also learn a great deal about Hamburg. If you didn't bring your headphones, make sure to ask for some, they have them, so that you can listen in up to 10 or 12 different languages. The harbor tour was horrible, unless you like looking at a bunch of shipping crates. Also, they don't provide headphones, which is a must if you want to hear it in english through the mobile app. We didn't know this so didn't get to hear anything in english.
Bus tour good and driver will issue your tickets . Cruises both nice but no English commentary which was disappointing. Apparently you can download an app for this but I didn’t bring any headphones with me on my cruise so that was pointless information. Wouldn’t have been difficult to give a little commentary as English is spoken very well in Hamburg . Also they do not advise no English given .
This was my first visit to Hamburg. I had a friend that lives in Hamburg and one that used to live in Germany with me. I don't speak German very well so I used tour translation. One of my friends used it too but was disappointed that it was not up to date with what the tour guide was saying.
The route of the bus-tour was great. But there was very difficult to hear the audio-guide, since the voice of the German guide was on all speakers of the bus. So it was very difficult to hear the messages in the headphones. And the german guide, was saying much more than what was recorded on the audio-guide. The boat-trip on Lake Alster was also great. But hear we also had trouble with the audio guide. The guide could be accessed via the phone, so you had to connect to the wi-fi onboard. The trouble was, that i have an iPhone 8 - And the headphones for the trip does not fit phones without a mini-jack. At this trip also, the german guide was on speakers all over the boat. So if we had listened to the phone without the headset, this would have disturbed for the rest of the passangers. So if you want audio-guide on these trips, and don't understand german, you have to take some precautions.
Excellent tours with great explanations of the city, it’s history and culture. Included a good tour of the Harbour
We bought tickets for the hop-on - hop off bus and harbor and lake tour. We were only able to take the bus tour and harbor tour and our bus tour was not in English. They only offered one boat tour in English and one bus tour in English each da and they conflicted with each other, so it was impossible to do both. Neither the bus nor the boat offered headsets, so we were a little lost as to what we were looking at. The German guide on the bus spoke some English and did try to give us a little overview. The tour takes you around the main points of the city, but it is a fair walk from the stops to the main points of interest such as the Church or City Hall. The boat was very nice and extremely comfortable and the harbor is amazing. Overall this was rather disappointing and had I realized the language issues I would not have booked this ticket. The tour description did not indicate that timing or language might be an issue. It would have been fine if we spoke German.
This was all right but too many references to where the rich and famous live and the cost of houses. The forced laughter of one passenger was wearying after a time. But a good way to see the city centre.
Both boats were nice. Interesting to see the port and the lake was beautiful under the rain. However, the bus was a poor experience; there was a person giving a live explanation in German so loud that it was difficult to enjoy the recorded ones in other languages. The explanation in English was very limited and at times boring. I definitely recommend the boats but skip this bus, maybe try other hop-on-hop-off buses as the city is worth discovering.

Hamburg is a pretty boring place. We took the Harbour cruise which was only available in German. The Lake Alster cruise was also in German. We sat there feeling so bored. The hop on hop off tour did have other language available, but probably only 30 of what they talked in local language, while half of the time music only. I guess this what they can do best in Hamburg, not much alternatives. Don't think I will ever return to Hamburg.

The tour starts from a stop near St. Pauli's Landing and takes you around all the major attractions in the city including the Rathaus, Alster Lakes, Planten un Blomen, Jungfernsteig, Reeperbahn, Fishmarket, warehouse district and the Miniatur Wonderland. The combo tour also allows you to take the cruise boats and see the city by water. The tour is a great introduction to Hamburg and a must for first timers in the city.
The bus does not stop at all stops automatically, and there's not enough time to request a stop if you are on the top. Despite having automated narration in different languages, you cannot hear over the live German narration. Do not recommend this option.
As the other reviewer noted, non-stop live commentary in German. The recorded playback was out of sync much of the time. No wifi and no credit cards accepted. That is very unusual now. We like hop on hop off in general but this one was not worth the time or cost.
We took the hop on hop off service and although we got to see the entire city, the tour guide (in the bus), spoke non Stop throughout the entire trip, which was rather weird given there is ear phones and people can tune into their preferred language channel. Nonetheless since there is no other option, we were able to see the entire city (tried hard to listen to the English commentary). It’s nothing like what you would experience in say Italy or Singapore.
The Hamburger Stadtrundfahrt hop-on hop-off bus was advertised as having commentary in German and English. I'm sure the German live commentary was good. But the pre-recorded English commentary was extremely brief and gave the information mostly before or after the landmark it related to. We were directed to an overcrowded bus and told this was for English people. We were given the wrong map so couldn't follow the route. Overall, an expensive mistake - the worst hop-on hop-off bus we've been on.

You need to make sure your bus has the earphone listening system, our 1st bus didnt and it was really hard to gather information, however the buses with earphones were so much better thoroughly enjoyed it then. Harbour cruise we did on the Louisiana paddle boat very nice boat, we stood on deck so therefore couldnt really hear the commentary but have to say I still enjoyed it, it goes right into the heart of the working docks and right besides the huge container ships. The lake Alster cruise, well what can I say ...... beautiful scenery, however, a massive let down that not a word of English was spoken!! Didnt even try to communicate with us this absolutely ruined it for us as we went on it to get information about the surroundings ....... so big disappointment! We felt very out of place especially when others are laughing and youre just sat there is not a pleasant experience.

Waited for hours in the cold, called numerous times and the bus never arrived. Eventually paid for tour bus from another tour company.

Quick way to cover Hamburg.. Lake Alster is really beautiful

Lake Alster was really nice. Very peaceful and relaxing. Hamburg is really nice city.
I would recommend to go there if you are in Germany.

One of the highlights of our holiday. A great city to visit and look around.

We were in Hamburg 4-6 Jul, prior to the G20 meeting was kicking off which was poor planning on our part. When we arrived at the bus to exchange our 2 day ticket we were informed that the bus would operate on a limited basis on 5 Jul with the last one leaving at 2-2:30pm. They would alter the route without notice during the day and the 2nd day 6 Jul was in complete question due to increased police presence and road closures. We did experience route changes on the 5th as the bus just did not show up at the designated spot. We also experience either a very late start or no operations on the 6th from the central station stop...our boarding point. The other Hop-On Hop-Off operators did not seem to run into the same operational problems and ran more of their published schedule. We would not do this tour again!

What a great city Hamburg is? We were so happy we had purchased the Essential Hamburg Combo as each section was thoroughly enjoyable and we were able to see this on each section as they were completely different and gave us some idea of what a great place Hamburg is.

The city tour was very interesting and enjoyable. The bus route was well marked and very convenient to our hotel. When we arrived at the Alster boat ride we were informed the bus driver did not provide us with the additional tickets required to board the boat ride. We felt cheated since the tickets would have been cheaper without the cruise included.

We purchased tickets from Viator for this Essential Hamburg Combo: Hop-on Hop-off Tour, Cruise and Lake Alster for this date. Unfortunately we did not do sufficient research to know that the G-20 meeting would be held this week and the company did not post an advertisement warning as they have done on other excursions we had booked for this trip. When we presented our voucher to the driver he was the one that said that the route may change during the day and that they would probably stop running between 2 and 3pm. That went for everything so...we had one English option for the Lake tour and one English option for the Harbor Cruise...at the same time. We focused on the city tour and got off at several stops...Town Hall and St Michaels. We would have been better purchasing private transportation, walking, or using Hamburg City Tour which continued to operate their advertised hours and stops. And we were not on a bus where they did not solicit tips!

The biggest problem we had was finding buses where they had ENGLISH SPEAKING AUDIO or INDIVIDUALS. Due to the rainy weather, we did not take any of the water Hop-On / Hop-Off tours.

We did get to two of our desired sites otherwise, I think we would have been better off just utilizing local transportation.

I highly recommend this package. Hamburg is a beautiful city. I did the Hop-on Hop Off bus tour first, to get the lay of the land. First I did the full round trip and then the 2nd time around, I stopped and got off at the places I wanted to explore. I followed up with the harbor cruise after that, and the next day I did Lake Alster. I was fortunate because we had beautiful weather. It was a perfect weekend.

Wish the commentary was in English... Cruise was full on German language. Bus had a bit of English from the live commentary from the Guide.

The tour was a great way to see the city and get an overview of the history. There were a few problems though - there is no English speaking Harbour tour from November to March, the bus did not automatically stop at every stop so if you wanted to stop somewhere you had to tell the German guide so that he could tell the driver where to stop and the German guide's voice was so loud on the top deck that we could not hear the English audio properly even on full volume so had to sit downstairs.
The cruise on Lake Alster is a must do, the view of the city from the water was beautiful and we went into some secluded areas unable to be reached by car.

They were so rude, and they gave tickets for the same trip for two days

Great option. The harbor cruise was interesting. The bus was good but the stops did not match the map given. we had to walk much further than expected to get back to our hotel. Still worth doing....

Plus-Managed to squeeze in the hop on /off and the 2 cruises.

Minus- 1Bus had german narrator speaking very loudly and cracking jokes, consequently it was very difficult to hear the english recording on the headphones.
2Pre recorded narrative did not make any reference to the stop number.

I loved the trip around the pier and the boat trip on Lake Alster. It is a great combination and one learns a lot about Hamburg.

We enjoy Hop-ON Hop-OFF bus tours in about every city we have traveled to. These tours are excellent for providing an quick overview of the highlights of the city. This combination also included a Harbor cruise which was good. We didn't get to the Lake Alster cruise due to a wrong turn and walked around about half of the lake so we did get to see it - and then ran out of time.

Great tour but the hop on hop off bus was inadequate English tour was very sketchy and the guide was rude.
Lake Alster cruise was poorly organised and the English tour was very sketchy.
The crew smoked on board.

The hop-on-hop-off bus was in German. They provided a headset to plug into the English or other languages but from the aisle seat it kept becoming unplugged and was very intrusive on the person sitting in the window seat. I finally gave up. It was disappointing. The lake cruise and the river cruise were worth it and very enjoyable. If you speak German, this is a great tour for you. Other languages, you should look elsewhere.

A little worry as the bus did not stop at all the stops. Are you supposed to ring the bell? Also the commentary was in German ONLY and there was no Headsets provision for other languages.
The guide made jokes that we could not understand. All this was very poor.

We found the 2 boat trips were translated in German not English so this was annoying and the buses again were mainly translated in german

We were disappointed with this tour. I think we were the only English speaking people on the bus and thus very little dialog was given for us. In another language we heard Princess Kate and Prince William as part of the dialong on the bus, not Lake Alster and never heard the story in English. So we were knew we were missing stories. The Cruise and Lake Alster parts were fine.

This tour was poor. We almost missed the only English cruise because of the bad directions. As for the bus, there was no English commentary.

I booked online and did have any printed voucher. The lady inform us we need a paper voucher I requested to speak with her supervisor and they help us to get with our tour hassle free. Excellent customer service.

Bus tour was great.

Lake Alster tour was very disappointing. The tour was only in German, even though the commentator knew we only spoke English.

The other tour was also only in German and the only time they had an English speaking tour was at 12pm ONLY!

Overall good. Hop on hop of buss would be better if they used multi language head sets like lake Alster cruise used. The harbour cruise was magnificent,

It was a great combination. We started with the hop-on hop-off tour, so we saw very much of the city on the first day. Next day we enjoyed the harbour cruise and the Lake Alster tour. As it was a bit colder we went below deck and you could warm up with drinks.
Each time its a joyful experience to be in possession of this combo card.
