Bus arrived quickly at all spots on the tour. Driver was helpful making sure we could hear the recording describing places around the city.

Reviews
The tour is in German & other languages are on headphones but the German commentators can be heard over what’s being said on the headphones. Been on many HoHo’s & everyone wore headphones and dialed in their language. Would not recommend unless you speak German.
Can count on them they accommodate you when things go wrong issues were due to weather changed date no problem
If you don't understand german this tour is not a good idea. We got it in english, but it was impossible to hear in the earphones since the guide spoke in german for people on the bus. Impossible to understand anything when we heard two languahes at the same time. No map over the tour was given to ud, we had to ask for it.
It was a great experience as it covered a lot around the hamburg city area. Great way to see the sights at first glance.
Not impressed at all. Ali thought there were headphones provided that you could listen to different languages, unfortunately as German was being spoken on the loudspeaker-it was almost impossible to to hear anything. Wouldn’t advise. Very long trip and didn’t learn a lot!
This was a great way to get a feel for the city and how to get around, esp. since it's not an easy city to navigate even with Google maps/GPS. The headphones with tour info in several languages was a lifesaver. We enjoyed using this to get to certain attractions and learning about the history. It's a long route.
Great experience to do on the first day when visiting Hamburg to learn the city sights before venturing further to see what Hamburg has to offer
While I received headphones to listen to the tour in various languages, the loudspeakers on the bus were very loud in German. I missed most of the explanations. Also, it was very difficult to find the starting point of the tour, because no information was given by Viator when I originally booked.
Great way to see the city highlights. There are multiple different buses so remember this is the red line. The bus was quite busy and the overhead speakers were on in German so it was a little distracting listening to the English translation on the headphones. Also my digital pass didn’t work but the driver let me on anyway.
The driver got lost! We were trying to figure out where we were on the route when we and others finally realized we were off the route and had missed several stops. No explanation or apologies from the driver. The tour narrative is taped in German, with an English version via earphones. The script is a bit dumb to me, but perhaps others would enjoy it. We are just interested in the history, not cute ancdetodes about how special Hamburgers are. Hop-on hop-off sounds like a good idea, but one needs to wait at each stop. We preferred taking the U-Bahn around the city and reading about things on my cellphone.
Good sight seeing, and frequent busses. Only complaint was some translation ports were not working, so did half tour with no sound, then able to move to another seat and that one worked. They should check all seats prior to start of route and place a out of order sign on broken ports to plug earbuds in.
Very good tour around city of Hamburg. We did not get off the bus as the weather was intermittent rain, but we were still able to see more of the town than people who went on tour from cruise ship. We took train from Keil on our own. Only problem was we were there on Sunday and buses didn't run very often in Kiel.
The hop on hop off red bus tour was a bit confusing. Purchasing tickets online was easy. Hopping on a red bus with a driver with a device that scans your ticket bar code was challenging, however, we managed to ride the tour with a tour guide with a device that read my bar code. It was on the "yellow line" of the red bus tour because there is a red line for the red bus hop on hop off tour. The driver was excellent and made sure we all had a wonderful time!
The first thing to note is the ticket is only valid for the day it's purchased for, not 24 hours. This differs from the many trips I've made all over the world. The trip itself was very informative and enjoyable. The bus did not always stop for passengers at the stops. We saw this and experienced it. Poor show.
Very good overview of the city sites. Comprehensive. Well presented and well timed. Well worth the price.
Excellent way to see a lot of the city in a short amount of time. A full loop from stop 1 takes about 1.5 hours. The bus narration is in German but with the headphones 8 additional languages are available. The narration was interesting and included some entertaining stories. They picked a great route with most of the highlights of the city. I did a complete loop from stop 1 prior to a scheduled boat tour and that helped me pick the spots to hop off later. Excellent value for the money especially if you start early. Highly recommend.
We had one day in the Hamburg cruise port. Looking at our available time that day, we decided the best way to see a lot of Hamburg was taking this hop-on / hop-off bus. One of the stops along its route was very close to our cruise ship, so it was a no brainer to pick this experience. We saw many Hamburg's highlights and enjoyed listening to the narration (given in 11 different languages) that described the areas where the bus traveled. We were very happy with this experience.
The sites were great. The audio on the bus was difficult to use and hear over the German being played. The stops and the signs are a bit hard to discern. One driver skipped a stop we wanted to get off on.
Good way to see many attractions from the outside. Very reasonably priced for a hop on hop off tour in a European city.
Save time and money to see entire Hamburg in a day. A lot of stops and audio while enjoying the ride explains sights along the way.
Overall a great experience with v Clean buses. The only enhancement I would have appreciated would have been a working APP and clearly labeled bus stops along with time frames. This would have taken some stress from the service
Excellent trip, we loved Hamburg very much. Lovely architecture and beautiful surroundings. The hop on tour was amazing, professional and very informative.
My husband and I had a terrible time on the hop on hop off bus. The loud live German commentary drowned out the English commentary through the ear plugs. We asked if it could be turned down and the driver was so rude with a blunt ‘no!’ He said maybe we should get on another bus so we did but it was the same. Why is there a need for continuous German commentary over the loud speaker when there is a German commentary through the ear plugs? This is the first town that we’ve ever been in that does this. There was certainly a narcissistic attitude with the German drivers, as if other countries didn’t matter. I would strongly urge non-German tourists to avoid the buses. You won’t be able to hear anything anyway so you may as well do a cruise or spend more money to do a private tour.
Very good overview of the city. We really enjoyed the tour. The app would be better if there was a map that showed pick up locations.
Easy pick up from the pier. Headset for English narrative. Traffic very light due to holiday and bus had plenty of seats.
The headphones gave clear explanations of where we were and what we were seeing. The top tier seats offered open air or covered views.
Best way to see around the city and to see and learn about the culture .we have fun riding the hop on hop off .
The interest places thru out the route were fascinating. Worth to hop off a couple of times to see the city.
Marvellous tour around Hamburg city. Comfortable and warm bus on a very cold day. Probably the best way to get an overview of Hamburg and get your bearings. Very helpful on bus staff, no need to book a ticket online, easy to buy at any stop throughout the 20 or so on the tour. Smooth driving and audio commentary in English was excellent
This was a great snapshot of Hamburg and gave us a wonderful insight into this beautiful city. We didnt hop off just stayed on
Was sick not. Able to use it. Party may try to see if you will let us use it today Appreciate your consideration
Do not sign up for this tour. We walked all over and never found the double decker red bus. The other company with HOHO was everywhere with their red and yellow busses. We wasted the money we spent and never got on a bus.
This is a quick way to learn about a new city. Clean and dry travel with audio available in multiple languages.
Hamburg hop on and hop off Red bus tour. Most boring trip ever nothing to look at. I have been on many hop on and off bus tours,, in different countries. There was no history to look at just bus stations and train stations. Felt like we were on a tour around an industrial site. We got off at the river and square and didnt get back on the bus
Very nice, good to know Hamburg. Beautiful landscape, it was very good there was an English version of the commentaries. Love it.
Information on what to see was great, as it says hop on/off at any stop to get a better look at anywhere that takes your interest.
A bit confusing on where to pickup bus but once onboard we got a good overview of Hamburg -- took it once around Line A route. Driver was very helpful on getting us back to our hotel
Promised an English commentary via headphones. Most of the time it was useless static, occasionally breaking into an English language commentary, only to burst into painful static again. Each seat only had one headphone jack so my wife and I had to sit in different seats, not a problem since the bus wasn’t full, but it could have been. I’m sure some of you are thinking “Ah, he didn’t finesses the 1/8” phono jack plug in… I’m sure I’ll be fine..” - you won’t be. I could see the other listeners wincing as the static broke through, it was every connection, not just mine. After a few stops I exited the bus and advised the driver it wasn’t working, for which I received a surprised look and a shrug. He’s just a working stiff and didn’t want to make a scene and hold everyone up demanding a refund, but if the company wants to refund our 36 euros I’ll happily amend my review.
From the cruise port we had to pay 25.00 to GET to the pickup point. When we got there most of the earbuds did not work. There was a lot of bleed over from other languages, added to that was the loud speaker was speaking in German. The driver was about the most rude and unhelpful person there ever was. When told about the bleed over, he replied…. Then get off!, which about 3/4 of the riders did! NOT a good experience.. I doubt that I will ever travel to Hamburg again
Appalling! Don't use this company!! Bus has German commentary, very loud, on amplification, throughout the tour, so loud that you can't hear the translated commentary in the headphones. Also the driver occasionally gives his own commentary, in German, so no tourist can understand anything he says. This tour is a complete waste of money! Find another company!!
The tour bus was fine. Narration was good. The bus was over crowded not much too see in Hamburg except buildings.
This tour is for German speaking audience only. The driver and the speaker system on the bus all shout in German, it's virtually impossible to hear on anything in your own language. Even though most of the reviews mention this issue they haven't done nothing about it which shows what's their real interests. are. I wouldn't recommend it at all.
There’s a stop right at the cruise port. The driver spoke both German and English. Mutiple languages on the audio tour guide
This hop on hop off service was reasonably priced and the buses stuck to the schedule. There was some confusion as to where the bus would actually stop to pick us up, but a driver from a different Line provided great details. In addition, it is difficult to hear the English narration over the German narration that is broadcast throughout the bus. As German was one of the languages offered through the earphones, I’m not sure it was even required to be broadcast over the bus speakers.
The tour is of the old city and the harbor/warehouse are of Hamburg. The narration is a pre-recorded script in all languages other than German.
Unfortunately due to construction the bus didn't go by some stops so we had to walk a Vermont way to the next one. The bus also stops running mid afternoon. I would find alternate transportation next time.
$15 per person to get from cruise terminal to a hoho stop got off just a few stops later ate shopped waited 1 1/2 for hoho to come back but it shut down really early because of protesters we seen nothing really had to spend $30 on a cab to get back to cruise ship
I rarely ever leave a bad review. This hop on hop off bus tour was terrible for so many reasons. 1- the busses were hot with no AC on an 80° day in June. 2- Two of the stops we went to were closed. 1 stop had a note, the other didn’t. 3- instead of having everyone use the earphones to listen in their target language, they had the German version blaring over the speakers making it extremely hard to hear through the earphones. I’ve taken ar least a dozen hop on hop off buses all over the world, but I would not recommend this activity in Hamburg, Germany.
Overall, the experience was great. However, it was hard to understand the commentary because they had a commentary blasting out loud while we were trying to hear it in our own language.
