As we do not speak German, we had to pay extra for an audioguide. They only asked if we had smartphones with us, which we had. But they never asked if we had earphones, which are absolutely necessary to hear the commentary. When I wrote to ask for a refund, they answered they would not give us any because we had paid cash for our tickets and had no proof of purchase. I think the one who should be suspected of dishonesty is not me but the Abicht company !

Supposed to meet boat at Dock 1 for 2pm (leaves every 30 mins). Boat never came and was told Dock 4. Went to Dock 4 and boat was not there. I was told boats stopped running at 4pm and website/tickets say 6pm. Asked for refund and was denied. Horrible company to work with. They should’ve refunded my $42 without any questions. Buyer Be Aware!!! F-
Glad I booked the tour on a large boat. The smaller boats looked cold and wet. Great drink service. Learned a lot about Hamburg.
Lovely boat , very warm, comfortable, interesting scenery but the main issue was it was impossible to download the guide onto our phones and the talk was unfortunately in German
Excellent river cruise at river Elbe. Tour guide was in German so be prepared. Mobile app in English was unreliable so I recommend highly for german speakers. 1 hour tour was enough to enjoy the wonderful weekend day in Hamburg!
Skip this cruise unless you are interested in seeing the mechanics of shipping containers being unloaded off of freighters , similar to Port Elizabeth as seen from the NJ turnpike. The Elbe has some beautiful areas, none of which we saw. It was all in German, supposedly an app for English, but we didn’t have any earbuds. Thankfully it was a beautiful day, they sell beer and drinks, we sat on the very top, so all was not lost, except $70
The meeting point is not very clear once you are at the address that the email confirmation says. I tried to talk with the people from the company and they said that I needed a QR code to get in on the boat, something that you don’t get, you only get a confirmation number and they say this is not enough. I had to call customer service since we lost one of the boat that we were planning to take and this messed up a bit our schedule. The customer service agent was telling to go to a specific place with a specific person but this is not very helpful when you are talking through the phone. At the end the staff for the company felt pity for us and he let us go to the boat without a QR code.
The guy we first spoke to was very Informative and explained the two options available to us. We chose the one we thought was going to take us through the old town however it didn't really go very far in before turning around and heading back to the main river. We then got taken past some large containers and a few boats before heading back. The boat was comfortable and the staff friendly however we were unable to download the android app which would have provided an English translation of what was being said as it was built for an older version of android and didn't work. This made most of this pretty difficult as we had not idea what the significance of the boats was. All it all it was still a good way to spend an hour and I would recommend
No English audio mentioned. The guide said that he would answer any questions that I may have but didn't see him again until we docked. Pretty pointless. Maybe busier than Rotterdam. I don't know. Highlight was the bar staff drinking beer.
The tour was very interesting showing the port of Hamburg. The harbour was busy with lots of posts but wet weather set in.
Absolutely perfect experience & worth all the cost. The ship is big & spacious, I was lucky to grab a good spot. Just the weather can be quite "flexible", you should bring a hat & a jacket because it will be sunny & quite cold at the same time when the ship is more in the middle.
The Elbe is not so beautiful. Very industrial. They put me on a boat with all German narration even though it was clear that I did not speak German. Didn’t discover this until we were underway. Unless you want to see shipping containers, skip this trip!
We were looking forward to this boat tour! We’ve done them in other cities & have enjoyed them…till this one. Part of the package was to include being able to purchase head-sets so that we could hear the tour in English. The man at the gate informed us there were no head-sets to purchase…he actually seemed confused by the notion. I was able to decipher some of what was being said as I am currently learning Deutsch, but I couldn’t exactly tell my husband what was being said because then it would disrupt the group. We couldn’t take any photos because of the water on the windows…and even the dry parts of the windows were streaked to the point that the photos were ruined. We were so happy we only picked the 1 hour tour!
nice, interesting, comfortable, great experience, corona rules respected, outer space tosit not easy parking and access, too crowded, only in german
There was no headphones available, and as we don’t speak German we didn’t understand anything being said. Also, we booked a cruise to see different things in Hamburg, but this cruise only focused on the container part.
We found this boat tour on TA. It was a little hard to find the office on Brueke 1, but we found it. Although the picture showed a paddle wheel boat, we took one of the smaller ones as the paddle wheel only ran once in a while. Regardless, we really enjoyed the tour, which lasted 1 hour. We got to see houses on the river, Hamburg beach and several large container ships. It was really cool! Overall, a great boat tour. Our only recommendation would be for the company to highlight items in both German and English. They definitely had enough time, as the downloadable English app was a bit clunky to use. Anyway, we recommend you try it.
Too short tour, exactly like a taxi boat but more expensive + no english traduction even if they said so.. it's through their application that doesn't work..so i didn't learn a lot about the port
Unfortunately the whether was awful, raining and cold. This is why one has to check the whether well before doing this trip. The harbour was incredible, big, massive. To see the huge cranes, the colossal cargo ships and the way they are loading by these cranes were very interesting. If you are interested in machines you must do this trip. The cappuccino they served before the boat leaves, was terrible. They charged 4 Euros for this. :-(
On a Thursday we took a one-hour tour at 1:15 p.m. With the Hamburg Card, the final cost was 22.00 euros per adult instead of 27.50 euros. The trip is worth it and despite the weather, it was a lot of fun on this big ship. All important information was conveyed very professionally and empathetically and the time flew by. Clearly recommended, card payment possible.
Entertainment and sightseeing in one go It took 2 hours to get to the villa district and then to the container port and the cruise ships and later to the Elphie. There was entertainment through live commentary and it was funny and informative. The coffee was terrible though. Prices were high. Typical for tourist trips. Definitely worth a trip if you haven't already done a harbor tour.
Sporadic English guide via app. The German guide explained continuously, so it was not entirely satisfying not to get all the nuances and stories.
Have made the xxl round trip with storage city and container port, took 2 hours with live announcement from Captain Jochen, was very impressive and interesting!
Was a nice tour to the thick ponds in the harbour! The guide always had a brisk spell in store and it was very informative of the buildings along the Elbe and the ships on it. Also recommended with children.
Had caught a sunny day, presenter was funny and informative. The Louisiana has the advantage of great freedom of movement on terraces deck. Has a bar on board :-) but also offers table service.
2 hour harbour tour with "Little Fritzchen". Route okay, moderation terrible. Incompetent, bored, had no idea, didn't explain great attractions and instead told some nonsense. Get off me!
Only in German!! (and the one who spoke was even English) and only a tour of the lake. Not into the channels Sheep designated x number of sailing clubs, green parks and a little spiral. We had good weather so could enjoy the sun but not a trip we need to take again.
Es hat uns eine Menge Spaß gemacht. Die Kapitänin hat viel erklärt und uns öfter mal zum Lachen gebracht. Kann man nur empfehlen und gerne wieder :-)
The big harbour cruise with the Louisiana Star was so lax. We personally liked the ride with a barque from the same provider better. Due to the bad weather we were below deck - unfortunately you could not hear the comment in our seating area due to broken or missing speakers.
The rating doesn't make sense, because we didn't buy tickets for a harbor cruise. At the Maritime Circle Line you pay for example 20 euros pp for a kind of hopon-hopoff. That's pretty much the price you pay with the many bidders. BUT, if you buy a day ticket for several people (up to 5) for public transport (here HVV), then all ferries are INCLUDED !! So we paid 12,90 Euro for such a card (for the two of us), and went to the Landungsbruecken on boat 62 to Finkenwerder, about 30 minutes one way with 5 stops, and very comfortable. And then back again. But there are more lines, and you can also change. So nice 27 euros earned....And you can still go all over town by train or bus.......
Very informative cruise through the port and container terminal. Impressive sight. Information is in German. There is possibly an app in English. We weren't on the paddle boat.
Belle promenade, dommage que l’application ne délivre le commentaire que d’une façon approximative par rapport au lieu exact où se trouve le bateau
I was greeted by an employee who subscribed to the "Absent Smile" and "I hate my job". I come from Montreal and it is a shock to me to experience this situation. First, he was impatient when I spoke to him in English. Then I asked him, with coupon, if I was at the right boat: he replied that all boats belong to the same company. I asked him when the next boat was leaving, he said it would be when the next one was full. I waited 20 minutes in a crowded boat that was not taking off, and seeing that I was going to miss a subsequent visit, I went back to tell him that I would come to the next departure: he looked at me and turned his head away ignoring me. Finally I returned to take the boat later: this time I was directed to a boat that was to have the Audio guide in English - in fact, the only guided boat tour of the whole Port with an English audio guide. Well, be sure to download the app before leaving your hotel as there is no Wifi on the boat. However, I enjoyed discovering the Port - it's even impressive!
Very great tour with super cool moderation! With girlfriends great ride, great entertainment had! Always happy!!!!!
It is a beautiful experience to explore the port of Hamburg in this way. We were fortunate that the largest container ship in the world had just left port. The boat is really a classic and could also be in a western movie. Staff are a bit imperious when you don't order drinks. Otherwise quite pricey. Shore salesmen are very compelling.
Tour was worth it. I personally found it a bit expensive, especially since the guide only speaks German and no other language like English. As a Dutchman it is not bad as I can understand German well, but especially for the tourists from other countries it will probably be difficult. The tour itself is very impressive through the port. Normally you are not allowed to enter ports, so you get a look behind the scenes.
Die online Buchung war unkompliziert und schnell. An der Kasse wurden wir weiter zum Schiff geleitet, der akkurat und sauber war. Die Erläuterungen waren klar ins deutlich zu hören.
A beautiful and informative boat trip on the Elbe. The paddle steamer is something special. Drink prices are, in my opinion, excessive.
He said he was already out of shape! But the inland waterway captain A-patent turned the raindrops into rays of sunshine! A very entertaining and informative tour which is a great experience for young and old.
It is definitely worth taking a port tour! After all, Hamburg is a port city and you get a nice impression of the size of the port and the work!
An absolute must in Hamburg, you can only recommend! Especially the Speicherstadt fascinated me. I'm a fan of this town now.
The Louisiana Star may not be for visitors to Hamburg who want to experience the harbour in a particularly authentic way. But if you have knirps with you, the largest round-trip ship is also the best. Even though children probably didn’t grow up today with the adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer ... the large ship with its many floors is much more exciting for children than a barge, however historic it may be. Also, of course, from the upper deck you have a great view of the giants of the seas, which is also impressive for adults.
