It was a very comprehensive historical tour, more educational than playful. I highly recommend getting the E bike. I am overall very fit and riding the normal bike was very difficult to keep up even with peddling at full power. We had many long stops where we got off our bikes though, and our guide explained the sites. Garrett was kind, smart, and very inclined to share history with us (a disclaimer he gave us at the beginning!). We were a small group and we ended 45 min later than planned (even without the coffee break that we decided not to take as a group). Garrett did warn us we may be late because he is passionate about history. The seat was very uncomfortable on the 26 inch bike that I had, another reason to get the E bike!
Great tour of the city! A bit of traffic in some parts, but very enjoyable and informative. Thank you
Fantastic tour with Ilka. Very knowledgeable about her hometown. Sets a good pace while riding and keeps everyone safe and together.
Ilke was a superb good with lots of knowledge that only a local would know. She had a great technique in making facts interesting by wrapping them into a story or recollection. Hamburg is a beautiful city with a lot of interesting history. The Beatles had their formative years here and they initially attracted me to the city. I then heard information about FC St Pauli from friends in London, As I had ended a long distance cycle event in Bremen, I took the opportunity of visiting Hamburg. I usually do a cycle tour as it is a good way of finding out about each city I visit. This was one of the better cycle guided tours I have done
Great way to gain an overview of Hamburg’s ancient and modern history in three hours. Sebastian’s knowledge on classical and symphonic music is notable.
this was a very comprehensive tour and we got a great sense of the city. One of the highlights was the tunnel! Our guide was very knowledgeable about Hamburg history and the tour covered most of the major sites. I would’ve liked to have gotten a little more insight on the people the culture and specific neighborhoods of note. The bikes were in excellent condition.
Good tour, 10 year old enjoyed it and yye e-bike was good too, we could hear the guide and he was very knowledgeable about Hamburg
Excellent panoramic view of Hamburg city! Our guide from Australia, Phil, is a very gentle and professional person who told us many details about the city. It was perfect! Thank you Phil!
It was great, however my fault that I did not check to see the language the guide spoke but it was still great!
This was a very fast paced tour and if not a seasoned rider maybe not for you. I did have a fall but the guide was not even aware as they were so far infront. Not much options for photos.
Bike ride and places we stopped were really good. Tour guide was just ok . He was well informed but Icoukd not hear him half the time and was somewhat talked about extraneous topicsVer
Great way to experience many city sights efficiently . Our guide had good English and out many local landmarks , interesting trivia and helpful tips
Very nice tour arond Berlin with focus on the relation between former east and vestern Germany. Skilled and friendly guid
Brilliant tour seeing highlights of Hamburg and learning about its history in an entertaining and relevant way. Our guide made us feel safe on the bikes. We appreciated the way he went the extra mile at the end of the ride to check our cycle route to Lüneburg which turned out to be excellent!
Great way to see more areas outside downtown. I rented an e bike, but would have been fine with a regular bike. Enjoyed the stops. The roads are pretty flat and lots of greenery.
Fantastic guided tour, excellent guide that really made this so interesting, fun and informative. Dennis took us through Hamburg, on our cycles, you felt safe and secure. Hamburg by bike was a sensation☀️☀️☀️
The experience to stroll the city was incredible, the route, the story and ghe joy well shared by @HamburgStorytelling ... we recommend anyone to try
Really friendly thorough and careful tour. Dennis was really informative and the route was well planned and kick-started our 3 days in Hamburg so well so that we got a feel of the main sights and where things were without it feeling at all like hard work. Really enjoyed it and felt safe on the route.
Philip was the best guide i could ever ask for! whole 3.5 hours of bilking was so fun and interesting. if you just arrived at Hamburg, then this could be a good starter! Philip also gave me good travel tips. much thanks from Korea :)
This was a very informative and fun ride while visiting Hamburg. Ilka did a great job. We hit all of the places I was interested in seeing briefly so we could go back to visit them later.
Very good tour to set expectations and base knowledge of Hamburg before exploring on our own. Our guy, Dennis was outstanding with both humor, fun facts, and good knowledge of the area.
Very informative and fun tour. The city is beautiful and the tour was a great way to see it all. Our guide loves Hamburger SV!
Very fun experience. Great way to see the city, learn a few things and get some fresh air. Our guide was not only very knowledgeable, but also quite entertaining. Great stories to go along with the history.
Very interesting learnt a lot of history about German culture . Phil was a great guide . Very relaxed trip with a short drink/ loo stop halfway.
Ilka took us on a nice, educational and beautiful tour of fantastic Hamburg. Good tips for our continued experiences in the city. A big city should be seen from a bike
A very pleasant experience. Phillip is a good guide who’s knowledgeable about Hamburg and nice to talk to. The tour is not overly challenging, but covers enough distance that the bikes aren’t just a gimmick. Weather permitting, I would certainly recommend this to others.
Our family had a full day in Hamburg off the NCL cruise ship. We docked in Altona which was short walk to Hamburg City Cycles. We had regular bikes and spent 3 hours with multiple stops and a 20 minute stop at a cafe. Our family as a whole felt like there were too many stops of little interest and the cafe could have been cut out. I would not recommend 3 hours on this bike tour because there is so much more to see in the red light district, Altona, the Fish Market area, & the Elbtunnel that was left out from this tour. The bike tour is a good way to see & familiarize yourself with the Hamburger area but definitely not worth 3 hours of your time.
Friendly and knowledgeable guide. wonderful city. covered a wide variety of city locations. E-bike was super fun yet not needed.
I just love exploring a new city via bicycle. I can cover a lot of ground and get a great introduction to the city's sights and offerings, providing me with plenty of ideas of things to see, do, and eat for the remainder of my time there. Peter was a good tour leader, stopping at many places to give us an overview of the history, culture, and some current happenings in the city. I would recommend this tour.
Nice extended tour of major sites with historical significance. The guide, an Irish young man, was generous with his knowledge and was very friendly and patient despite the weather conditions.
Found this activity amongst the most recommended "To do" in Hamburg and we weren't disappointed! The meeting point it's easy to find a d also well explained in the welcome email. We met our guide, Peter, in a very hot June afternoon and with his simpathy, professionalism and engaging attitude he was able to make us forget the heat! While on tour, you get to experience the city in all its beauty and from unique view point, all sprinkled with history and fun fact. Cycling around the city it's safe and the pace is good for all levels. We would definitely recommend this tour and do it again if coming back!
Tour guide Sebastian was very knowledgeable and packed in a lot of interesting information in the3 hours of touring. It was a great introduction to the city as it allowed the tour participants to see many key sites and learn some interesting history.
Our guide was fantastic. We did 10 stops. Learned a lot of interesting facts and history. Things we wouldnt of known otherwise. Our guide went the extra part to make sure everyone was really happy. Gave lots of tips and recommendations
Great tour of Hamburg city (and St Pauli). 3hrs turned into 4hrs. Dennis did a great job with about a dozen stops; he kept a close eye on us and answered all our questions. I would, absolutely recommend this bike tour (for couples and families with teenagers). We had e-bikes too although, in reality, normal bikes would have been fine.
Great tour by Dennis. The tour was informative and set a nice pace and he was very responsive to guest interests. Unfortunately, there were some rude and entitled Americans on our tour who complained that the tour was ON TIME (yes, you read that correctly) and Dennis was so professional about it - I was very impressed. The weather could not have been better, it was the only reason the Americans were tolerable.
We had the pleasure of joining Savvi’s walking tour in Hamburg yesterday , and it was a fantastic experience. Savvi was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, sharing so many interesting stories and historical insights that really brought the city to life. It was a real pleasure to explore Hamburg with him — we learned so much about the city’s past and its unique character. Highly recommend this tour, and especially Savvi as a guide!
Very knowledgeable and engaging guide. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing lots of interesting sights in Hamburg. It was a cold day so wrap up if it is a bit windy.
Great selection of sites E-bikes were great, comfortable and easy to use. Would recommend for those who do not cycle often as there are a few hills on this route. Some areas were extremely busy and it was hard to keep up with the trip leader. If you got parted from the group at Traffic lights the group waits but you might miss the information about the location as it probably won’t be repeated. Would have preferred a couple more minutes in some locations.
It was fun and interesting. The places we visited, the friendliness of the tour guide and other tourists was a memorable kind gesture. If I have to go again, I’ll choose them over and over again
Firstly, can I pass on my thanks to Phil, our guide who made our tour such a memorable experience! Clearly very knowledgeable, he told lots of stories, both of the attractions and his own experiences and did so with plenty of humour throughout!! The tour itself lasted approximately 3 and a half hours, with a short break half way round. Bikes are good quality and well maintained. We cycled at a chilled pace, with plenty of stops and stories. Lots of fantastic views - the view overlooking the harbour late in the afternoon was breathtaking! Thanks to all at Hamburg City Cycles for a great experience!
The bikes are in perfect condition, well maintained and confortable, with lockers in each of them. We definitely recommend Hamburg City Cycles as the best way to know and move arround the city. We did also a tour with Philip and we couln´t be more happy about it. He was attentive, funny and enlightened about the city of Hamburg. Some of the stories where amazing indeed.
We had a fabulous guide in Savvy, showing us the highlights of Hamburg. Savvy was very knowledgeable and had a hilarious sense of humour which made the tour a lot of fun. He also ensured we all stayed together when it got busy. Highlights recommended.
A great introduction to the city of Hamburg! The pace of the ride was perfect and we saw many great sites along the way. Information from our guide was thorough, clear, and very interesting. Thank you!!!
Very good tour, we saw a lot and heard many interesting facts. We received several pointers and pieces of advice as well. Savvy was a very friendly and energetic guide.
The tour guide, Ingo, had a great love for his city of Hamburg. He was funny and had great recommendations for places to eat, drink and watch Hamburg life go by. I would have liked some of Hamburg's history as an introduction and some background of Hamburg. The location of the rental place was easy to find and convenient to get to.
Our guide, fellow with Australian accent ( Phil?) was knowledgeable, entertaining and fun. Would highly recommend. Thanks again
We received an exceptionally charming welcome from Manuela. The tour was excellently selected and tailored to our individual wishes. The information was given in a competent and extremely exciting way. The e-bikes were as new and in perfect condition. I would recommend this tour to everyone who is not sitting on a bike for the first time and wants to experience Hamburg in a very personal and authentic way.
This is a must-do activity for anyone looking to see the city. Phil was a great guide for the English language tour, very informative and lots of interesting stories.
The organisers made the whole experience very easy from sorting out the bikes (and helmets) to the tour itself. The tour was great fun, especially with Philip's many anecdotes and information. It was great to see such a lot of Hamburg - especially getting to the Alster on a beautiful, sunny day. The whole trip was very informative and pleasurable. Thank you!
