Intercityhotel Hamburg Hauptbahnhof

Disappointed! Never stayed in a hotel with both elevators were down. They knew it was going to happen and didn’t call an elevator repair company for emergencies!! They let us ride in an elevator that was making scary noises! Had to walk up 4 flights and carry my suitcase down when I left yesterday. Also, you check yourself in when you arrive. Like Ryan air. No information sheet about the hotel! I was alone and only 2 towels in the bathroom. Totally impersonal. The location is only reason to stay in this hotel.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good stay. I arrived late in the evening for a one-night business trip and was asked to use the self-check-in process. After paying by credit card, I was provided with a non-itemised receipt, which is insufficient for my company's expense requirements. Today, I called the hotel to request an itemised receipt. Unfortunately, the staff member I spoke with was difficult to understand because he spoke very quickly. When I politely asked him to slow down, I found his response dismissive and slightly rude. When I arrived in my room, the bed had been made and fresh towels provided, but the bathroom bin had not been emptied and still contained waste from the previous guest. In addition, there was a welcome card on the desk addressed to a different and male guest. I reported this to reception and they made a note of it, but the situation left me concerned that the room may have been assigned incorrectly or double-booked. As a solo female traveller, this was unsettling and made it difficult to relax. The room also faced the main road and external noise from traffic was very noticeable throughout the night. Given the hotel's location beside the main train station, some noise is to be expected. However, combined with my concerns about the room assignment, I barely slept. Overall, the lack of attention to detail, poor communication regarding the receipt, and the disturbed night's sleep meant that this stay fell well below my expectations.

Great location. Staff are a bit grumpy. Good breakfast buffet.

Solid InterCity quality. Clean, no big issues, a safe choice. The community traffic ticket to be included was a nice addition. But you would expect breakfast to be included in a rate of 190€ for a standard room.
