Shore Excursion: Full-day Hanoi City Tour From Halong Port

We booked Hanoi city tour with train street visit in many options that were offered by Up Travel and it was one of our best decision ever. Our guide Sony was excellent and knowledgeable to show us all the best of Hanoi in 1 day

We had a great day on this Hanoi shore excursion and would highly recommend it. Lily was very friendly and helpful. From start to finish everything was very well organised. We were met promptly at the port and the transport was comfortable for the journey into Hanoi. We knew it was a long drive, but it was worth it to experience the city in a day (and the guide kept things interesting along the way). Once in Hanoi, the itinerary covered all the key highlights. We especially enjoyed visiting the Old Quarter and Train Street, a real highlight and something quite unique. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer questions, giving us a great insight into the history and culture of Vietnam. Lunch was interesting and gave us a chance to try some authentic local food. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and well-paced tour. Yes, it’s a full day with quite a bit of travel, but if you want to see Hanoi while docked in Halong, this is a great way to do it. A brilliant experience and great value for money.

This was along trip in à mini bus with no seat belts and poor air conditioning. The guide Lyon was good but it looked at times he was making the itinerary up as he went along. Don’t get me wrong, the trip in between the travelling was memorable, the highlights being train street and the trishaw ride. I’m afraid the restaurant we were taken to was dirty inside, and the food was not to our liking. We chose this company as their itinerary looked better than the other company we were using for other tours, hindsight is a great thing.

We had a fantastic day with our guide sonny, the eight of of us were picked up from our cruise ship on time and spent the day visiting train street , a temple, having lunch and a rickshaw ride. Sonny was informative and interesting! This small group tour was perfect as we were able to see everything without following and waiting for a large group . Would definitely use up Vietnam travel again.

We are a group of 6 and booked a private excursion from our cruise ship. It took about one hour and a half from my cruise ship to arrive to Hanoi. Our driver was.Hai and our tour guide was Lily. They are such an amazing team. The band was extremely comfortable and the ride seemed very quick as Lily provided us with so much information. They also stopped to allow us to take a bathroom break. Once we reached Hanoi, we were able to visit several sites, but I have to say the highlight was train street. It was such an exhilarating experience Lily insured that we had front row seat and even took amazing pictures. We were also able to try the egg coffee and a Banh Mi sandwich, which was spectacular. We were also treated to a traditional Vietnamese lunch at a restaurant that was very accommodating. The staff were so friendly. it was a perfect day with the perfect team. I highly recommend booking with this tour group. they are always informative and gives information prior to the day of the tour.

This was another fabulous day out with Lyon, so friendly, knowledgeable and fitted in many sites keeping us on the move. It was a jam packed day with authentic food for lunch and an icecream at the best place in Hanoi. The highlight of the tour was Train Street which was incredible to sit and watch and to be so close to the train when it comes through. Lyon thank you for looking after us throughout the day making it fun especially with the tricycle ride. Highly recommend lyon and Uptravel for any future visitors thinking of visiting Vietnam it's a beautiful country 😊

Highly recommend our tour through Up Travel headed by Lyon and Ryan. We booked online with Lyon directly placing a small reservation fee. After that discussion and deposit he placed us with others traveling on our cruise ship with information regarding pick up, what to expect to etc Having this link allowed others traveling together an opportunity to connect as well. As promised we met Lyon at the port terminal and to our coach van. Heading to our destination we enjoyed the landscapes of Veitnam arriving 2.5 hours later in a whole new world far from our experiences in Canada. The day was full of new sights and sounds and our guides gave us information all along the way in an easy paced walk abouts. Highlites for us were train street, the bike ride through French quarter, lunch in an authentic restaurant, famous ice-cream stop lol and all the other amazing spots in Veitanaese history. Due to our van driver picking us up and dropping us off the various stops (tour busses couldnt access) , walking was easy . Thank you to these fine people of Veitnam for making our journey a most pleasant memory.

Mr Thomas, our guide, took us through amazing experiences in Hanoi. We got to ride in a pedi cab, experience the train drive-through town, inches from us, while we had coffee as well as the sites and fabulous food in this city. Wonderful memories!!

We had just the best day out in Hanoi. Vu our guide & our driver were so good, very knowledgeable about the area & the trip was seamless from start to finish. Train Street was an amazing experience as was the rickshaw ride through Central Hanoi, the traffic was mad but good fun. We had lunch which was also excellent & part of the trip. From booking to going on the trip the communication was really good, would definitely recommend.

Our guide in Hanoi was friendly and helpful; I use a mobility scooter so accessibility is very important to me!! The lunch was truly a delight and we got to try lots of things we might not have otherwise. We would recommend!

We were travelling on a cruise as part of a dream trip to the far East and were lucky to find Up Travel on a Facebook group attached to our itinerary. We booked three trips with Lily and her team including one to Ho Chi Min City and another to Hanoi from Halong Bay, Our private tour guides had fantastic English were super knowledgeable about the local area and fun to be with too. We visited the iconic post office in Ho Chi Min City as well as the Palace and had our first taste of Vietnamese coffee. In bustling Hanoi we visited the university, stunning temples and enjoyed a wonderful rickshaw experience around the old quarter, A private tour meant we were able to works more or less time in each place to enjoy and the food and restaurant stops were excellent too. The private taxis were comfortable with air con and drivers were great - best of all the prices were a whole lot cheaper than shore excursions!

This was a very enjoyable and learning experience for me about Hanoi and this beautiful country of Vietnam. Lily, was our tour guide and she was great. Very knowledgeable. Hannah, who did the booking for me, was super helpful working around my schedule as it would change a little at the last moment. Great tour and agency.

We heard about UpTravel on social media and booked two trips prior to leaving the UK. After registering my request via WhatsApp, I was quickly contacted by the lovely Hannah. From that moment on, I knew I was in good hands. Hannah was charming, friendly, extremely helpful and made herself available at any time to patiently answer my many, many questions. Hannah provided detailed instructions about our guide and pick up point and it all went without a hitch in Halong Bay. Mike, our English speaking guide during our trip to Hanoi, was so lovely - knowledgeable and keen to share many aspects of life in Vietnam with us.Our driver was friendly and smiley too. As we left Halong Bay, Mike took us to the local food market. This was our first introduction to genuine Vietnamese food and culture and it was so easy thanks to Mike's guidance, though the local people were more than welcoming. We had an amazing day in Hanoi - Mike seeing us safely around all the main sites such as Train St, The Temple of Literature and the Prison too which was very sobering but, we felt, truly important. The trip also included lunch, which was simply delicious and, after lunch, a tour round the old quarter in a bicycle rickshaw which was quite an experience! Mike was a terrific photographer and took many snaps of our party altogether which was an added bonus. It was simply the perfect introduction to our first Vietnam city - we felt welcomed, cared for and much better informed by the time we were returned to Halong Bay. We also laughed a great deal! Can't praise Hannah and her guides highly enough, fabulous experience and great value for money. Hannah MN ade paying for the trips very easy and flexible so every angle was taken care of beautifully. Thanks Hannah, Mike and driver (apologies, I wrote down your name and list the piece of paper!!). So, excursion 1 - 10 out of 10 and bonus points for sheer efficiency!

Long journey from where the cruise ship docked and not much to see when you get there I should have spent the 2 days in Halong bay. The Guild was very helpful and made the trip worthwhile. However if considering a trip to Hanoi reconsider. The only thing we enjoyed was Train street .

Booked with Lily four trips from various ports whilst on our cruise. All four trips and guides were fantastic, knowledgeable & great communication throughout the booking process. Absolutely outstanding! We loved every minute from the moment we were met at the cruise terminal to our return. Emma, our guide, was knowledgeable and empathetic. She got to know us and our interests and responded with information and an itinerary that met the whole group’s expectations. Expecting a dry sandwich for the included lunch we were delighted to be treated to local Vietnamese cuisine that made for the best meal we’ve had in recent memory. Truly an amazing and unforgettable experience!

Absolute 5* trip with our guide Lee l,this was a private tour, my husband and I as group tours were fully booked but having met with Lee the day before we had no qualms a fun day lay ahead. We were taken to the Temple of Literature, very interesting and as this was graduation day for some students we were able to enjoy their celebrations. We then visited Hoa Lo Prison/Masion Central - the infamous Hanoi Hilton. A very sobering experience, models depicted the appalling conditions the inmates were subjected to- Madam Guillotine still in situ, the tiger cages, the memorial and then a separate area giving note to the American soldiers and their captivity within. Vietnam is a communist country and one could say their spin on events is somewhat one sided. We then enjoyed a lovely lunch, just my husband and I, many courses and it was delicious. Lee had then arranged a rickshaw ride for us through the Old Quarter, absolutely delightful. Many scooters laden high with all manner of goods, we saw the ‘Notre Dame’, Christmas decorations, street before, our rickshaw man was very skilful on the busy streets and roads. We met with Lee who had booked us front row seats on Train Street where we enjoyed the infamous Egg Coffee (delicious) and then the main event- the 3.20pm train. Lots of whistles/claxons/shouting to clear the street and shut the road. Oh my! What an experience, you are literally inches away from the very big, long train. Fabulous!!! Our guide Lee then bid us farewell as he was off to meet tourists flying in from Singapore, our driver returned us to port with time to spare before departure. Lee you are a bright shiny star, thank you for making our time so special and unforgettable in beautiful Vietnam. Up Travel - highly recommended.
