Excellent transportation to/from Ha Long Bay to Hanoi, and an excellent tour of the city. We wanted good street food, and Tim took us to an excellent restaurant and also provided other tasting opportunities with egg coffee and other street vendors. The rickshaw ride and train viewing were excellent, and the other sites were very interesting. The team worked hard to find out what we wanted to do and how best to achieve all results. Great tour and problem solving made it a relaxed and exciting time for us! Recommended!
Our driver met us at the pier in Ha Long Bay. We drove two hours into Hanoi where our guide, Louis met us. We spent the full day exploring. Louis was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating We saw everything we wanted to plus some additional surprises. The day exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend to cruise travelers. Be sure to book on day that ship remains in port
Our guide Tom and the driver really looked after us all day, we were collected from our cruise ship on time , in an air conditioned comfortable car. We saw so many different interesting attractions during our day, Tom was very knowledgeable about them all. One stop was for an Egg Coffee, really creamy, a must do! The included lunch was lovely, the restaurant and staff really nice. The mad traffic is an experience like no other, both fab and mad, our driver did a great job. Thank you Tom we had a really great day spending just the right amount of time at each attraction.
Long day but Hanoi very interesting. Car journey longer than anticipated due to traffic so be aware. Guide knowledgeable about history of area
We had a great day in Hanoi. Our tour guide Mike helped to make the most of limited time in this fascinating city. The day was well organized right from the beginning. We were picked up right at our cruise ship. That saved us the 900m walk along the pier which other passengers had to make. Our driver Phuong drove ve us from Halong to Hanoi. The drive took about two hours. Mike was born and raise in Hanoi. He was the perfect person to share his knowledge of the city and his love for Vietnam. A wonderful day! Highly recommended.
This was an extensive tour of Hanoi taken from a cruise ship in Ha Long. The transport was great, the guide was attentive and very good and took us to see all the things we could see in the time frame. He explained things well and spoke good English.
We had some issues on this tour, but the tour operator did everything possible to make it right. The tour operator is respectable & can be trusted to give you the best experience.
Terrific private tour of Hanoi
Terrific private tour with Jun as our great guide. We were picked up at the ship, no long walk. It was helpful that Jun joined us in Halong and gave us lots of local information on the drive. Do plan two hours to Hanoi and plan lots of walking since old Hanoi is a maze of small streets. Our driver was superb, navigating crazy Hanoi traffic. The tour is customized to what you want, but it is impossible to see everything so some advanced planning is useful. Jun recommended a local restaurant for lunch, not the usual hotel buffet.
Wow, what a wonderful day we had exploring the vibrant, bustling city of Hanoi & seeing all the main landmarks with our guide, Jackies - our trip into the city from Halong Port was excellent, very comfortable & great driver. Well worth it & communication from the travel company was top notch, a great day out
What a wonderful day we had with our guide, Jackies exploring the delights of Hanoi - so many highlights in this vibrant colourful city!! The driver & car transport to & from the port at Halong Bay was top quality & very comfortable - well done
This tour was excellent. I still cannot believe what we got for the cost. They pick up AT THE CRUISE SHIP, not after to shuttle to the port building. Our driver sent pictures, which I will include. We selected the high end dining and rickshaw ride. It was a truly memorable experience. We saw all of the highlights of Hanoi and we got back early. Seven of us with a private van— far better than the bus our cruise line offered for twice the price. And finally, Minh, Windy, and Tu made this day one we will cherish forever!
Louis our guide and Thom our driver were incredible. Let me start with Thom the driver. He was cautious in Chaos. Traffic is not for the faint of heart here and he navigates like a pro. Next Louis. Oh what can I say. He was kind and smart and just so personable. His telling of the Hanoi Hilton was quite dofferemt from what we had been told so it was an interesting perspective. He took us to some gorgeous temples and a little shopping. However my favorite part was just sitting having an egg cream coffee ( which is delicious by the way) and talking about life in Vietnam. Ask for Louis if you book this tour!!!
From booking our trip to meeting our guide the communication was good. Our day trip to Hanoi was exceptional, Mai our guide was so informative regarding history, culture Took us to as many points of interests that she could, the experience of train street was amazing. Lunch was delicious, Our driver was first class navigating the Hanoi traffic which something else !
Excellent service, pick up at port. Private transfer and car for the whole day. Binh our guide was amazing and he was very knowledgeable on the history of the area and Vietnam as a whole. We did the street food option lunch and it was super, we tried 10 different dishes in 4 places plus egg coffee, all very tasty. Would highly recommend this tour.
Very smooth experience. Collected from cruise terminal in a very spacious, clean car. Transported to Hanoi to meet our english speaking tour guide Tom. He was very polite knowledgeable and a really nice guy. Took all our photos, bought all admission tickets, Took us to authentic restaurant for our lunch which was very good. Settled us on our tri shaw ride around the Old Quarter. Visited Railway street where he knew the cafe owners and got us a good table next to the tracks. Visited so many attractions in our 11 hours. Great day out.

An amazing tour to see the highlights of Hanoi with the excellent Jimmy as our guide. Our driver collected us from the ship and we had a smooth amd relaxing journey from Halong to Hanoi. We chose the street food lunch option and were delighted we did as we got to sample some wonderful local dishes such as pho, banh my and bun cha. Jimmy has a fantastic knowledge of the city and adjusted our itinerary to fit it our wishes topped off with a visit to train street as a train was coming through. After an exceptional day we were driven back to our ship filled with amazing memories.
A fun day in Hanoi! It was a very full, fast pace day and we covered a lot of ground. A great meal, lots of sights and history.
Very accommodating, only showed us what we wanted to see. Provided knowledgeable information on the sites we visited.
We had a seamless pick up at the port and met Jun in Hanoi. Jun was fantastic . His knowledge and enthusiasm for his city was incredible. We covered so much in spite of heavy traffic and he even extended our time because of the traffic on his own. He took us to the many sights, but the best was getting a real life experience of walking the busy markets of Hanoi. It gave us a real sense of the city. He also took us to great eating places that were terrific. I would highly recommend Jun and this tour.
Jun was an excellent guide. He was personable and flexible with our wants and needs. He was knowledgeable and proud of his city. I highly recommend this tour company and Jun!
Super efficient trip for a cruise stop in Ha Long Bay. Our guide, Minh, had perfect English, and was very enthusiastic about educating us about Hanoi. He showed us a ton of sights in a short period of time, and sat us right next to the train on Train Street. Highly recommend this tour!
It's a long drive to Hanoi from Halong port. Our ship arrived at 11 am. Our guide had contacted us the day before, which was reassuring. The driver was waiting at the end of the gangway, holding our name. The car was comfortable, water was provided, there was a comfort stop each way and the driver was very calm and capable in the traffic. The roads were good but busy. We picked up Tung, our guide, in Hanoi. We were concerned about the prospect of a long and tiring day, but he managed to give us a good overview of this fascinating city, adapting to our interests, but showing us a great deal. Lunch was good, and we tried an egg coffee (a bit like Zabaglione) in a little cafe. The 'cyclo' (rickshaw) ride was very enjoyable. And we learned how to cross the road! The city is vibrant at night, so the late trip meant we could enjoy that. I would highly recommend a private tour here, so that you can get the best out of it for your own circumstances.
Our guide contacted us in advance so that we were confident that we were expected. The driver was waiting at the foot of the gangway, holding a sign with our name. It's a long drive to Hanoi from Ha Long port but the car was comfortable and the driver was very calm in the 'interesting' traffic. We stopped for a break on the way there and back. Despite a late start, due to our ship's timing, Tung managed a very good overview of Hanoi - a fascinating city with a rich past and optimistic future. He paced the tour to suit us, and skipped items we were less interested in. Sadly the train wasn't running that day, but we still enjoyed 'Train Street'. Running into the evening turned out to be an advantage as we also saw some of Hanoi by night.
Our driver picked us up and dropped us off right on the dock in front of our ship. (The foot of the ship) He drove skillfully and quickly- it can take over 3 hour to get to Hanoi and he made it in 2.5, both coming and going. Our guide, Lucky Ivy, really customized our tour for us and was very knowledgeable. Getting to sit next to the train as it was whizzing past was a blast! I also got a great foot massage for $8 and the rickshaw ride was a fun way to see the city We got to taste and drink a variety of street foods that we chose. I saw a group from our cruise ship in the same area and their tour guide only showed them the food stands;they didn’t get to eat or drink.
We got picked up at the cruise terminal and retourned later and had a comfortable and safe ride to Hanoi (2.5 hrs) thanks to our good driver. We had booked a private tour (just us) and therefore our knowledgeable guide Jun adjusted the route according to our wishes; so we could a perfect insight into the city, it‘s residents and the Vietnamese history and culture. The tour included a Rikscha tour, a meal in a small Restaurant and a coffee in one of the coffeehouses, which we would never had found ourselves. Very interesting and pleasant day!
Jun is absolutely the best tour guide you can imagine. He is energetic, fun, knowledgeable and takes you to both the highlights of Hanoi and places in the market that you could never see without him. His attention to detail is amazing and we very much appreciated the reserved table for train and all the wonderful photos he took. Jun is a 10/10 and you would be very very lucky to take a tour of Hanoi with him.
Apart from the long 2 hour drive from the port it was a great experience. The varied sites visited gave a good insight into the history and modern day living in Hanoi. Our tour guide Ben was great fun and his enthusiasm to show us around his city really shone through. Although a long day it was jam packed with culture and partying. Felt like we had been there for a long weekend, not a day. So many memories. Well recommended.
Smooth pick up and ride from the port into Hanoi. Driver was very respectful and spoke some English, and did provide a nice rest stop, as well as on the way back. Our guide in Hanoi, Kim, did a very good job of giving us an overview of recent Vietnam history, and deepened and enriched our understanding of Ho Chi Minh. Kim customized our tour according to our desires, and enabled us to get a good sense of the heart, culture, and vibe of. Hanoi. Lunch was delicious as well!
100% percent would recommend this trip, the driver and our guide were both excellent. The driver was punctual,v v safe and road aware. He was confident and experienced we both felt very safe in his capable hands. Our guide was just amazing and sorted everything and more besides,he took time to explain everything without being repetitive,he organised the most insane and giggle making rickshaw trip for us while also taking us safely to train street so we did see the train go inches past and also explained some history along the way!A super day out we will both remember for a long time and can’t speak highly enough of them.A pleasure to meet them thank you.
Great tour with Brian. It was a long day but we got to do everything planned. Brian made sure we got to try wonderful local foods and experience the train rolling through the station.
Leo was an awesome guide. Extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and affable. Leo took us to two great restaurants for lunch and dinner
Mike was an excellent tour guide. Everything went super smooth from pick up to drop off. We got to see the old city, French quarter, have a delicious lunch, and learn a lot about Hanoi and Vietnam. It was a long day but well worth it.
We had a wonderful day with our guide Hai. He showed us Hanoi in a way that was fun and informative. The highlight was having egg coffee on Train Street as the train came flying by so close, I also enjoyed the rickshaw ride through the old town. Hai and our driver looked after us the whole day. Being picked up and dropped off at the ship was definitely a bonus.
Hai was an excellent guide showing us Hanoi. He made it so interesting and we had a wonderful day. He made sure we saw everything we wanted to and much more
Great experience, from ship pick to drop off. Our tour guide, Tung is very knowledgeable and know how to spend time effectively. We will recommend and use him again.
We had an amazing day touring Hanoi. Being picked up at the cruise ship was easy and stress free. Brian, our tour guide, was incredibly knowedgeable. He took us to so many sites and was able to explain the history, as well as current events and culture in Vietnam. The walking and food tour with so many yummy stops at places we would have never found was so much fun. Stopping for a beer at the rail station and having the train pass by inches away was a highlight. Don’t hesitate to take this tour with Brian.
Brian did a WONDERFUL job! He contacted us the day before to clearly confirm the pick up instructions. He and our driver did an incredible job navigating Hanoi. The tour hit all the highlights without rushing us. Brian was very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. I can’t imagine having seen Hanoi without a guide. If there was an option, I would give him more than 5 stars.
Lucky Ivy was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a great time in Hanoi thanks to Lucky Ivy! We totally recommend this tour for families!
While it was a long drive it was well worth it. Bach was an amazing tour guide and navigated all the sites expertly with insightful explanations. The driver was perfect in always managing to pick us up in the chaos of Hanoi street traffic to take us to the next stop. It was the perfect day. Highly recommend!
Had a great experience on a private tour with Lucky Ivy. Was with my brother and our parents. She was very knowledgeable and helped pace the trip so that it manageable for my parents. Highlight was the street food and pho. Delicious!
The 4 of us had a great time in Hanoi with our guide Louis Chien. He contacted us via WhatsApp the night before to go over the lunch choices and answered our questions. We were picked up from the Halong Bay cruise terminal building by the driver with a sign with our name. We were driven through the beautiful countryside of Halong Bay and the port city of Haiphong to Hanoi. Louis adjusted the itinerary to fit our needs and our arrival/departure times. The streets were very lively and the 3 street food places Louis took us to were really delicious, way way better than the Vietnamese restaurants in the US. He got us to the train cafe and got us seated right before the train passed by. What an experience!
Our “Hanoi in a Day” tour from Halong City was absolutely fantastic! We arrived by cruise ship and our driver was waiting for us in a spacious SUV making the drive into Hanoi comfortable and scenic. Even the rest stop on the freeway was interesting. Note: be sure to have local cash to buy some local snacks. A special shout-out to our wonderful guide, Lucky Ivy! She truly made the day unforgettable. Ivy was warm, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. She shared captivating stories, answered all our questions with enthusiasm, and made my husband and I feel welcome and cared for. Her passion for Hanoi brought every destination to life, and her friendly personality made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Even though it was just one day, the itinerary was well-planned and never felt rushed. Every stop from the Temple of Literature to the Old Quarter was full of culture, history, and charm. Even the explanation and conversation during the walk through of the Hanoi Hilton was well-thought out and discussed with sensitivity. One of the highlights was our stop at the Hanoi Train Street. Ivy planned it perfectly so we had reservations for a front row seat for a cup of tea and the surprise of the train rushing by! Ivy filmed the whole thing for us. Lunch was delicious with authentic Vietnamese flavors in a wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant we would have never found on our own. The whole tour ran smoothly from start to finish. It’s the perfect choice for anyone staying or just stopping in Halong City who wants to discover the best of Hanoi in just one day. I highly recommend this tour to give you a taste of Hanoi. And especially if you’re lucky enough to have Lucky Ivy as your guide!
Well run tour. We were picked up from the pier just off the ship and dropped off in time. The time in Hanoi was well organized. The tour guide Minh was knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. We saw all the highlights including an exciting narrow train track view. We were treated to local egg coffee and a delicious seven course Hanoi lunch. I did similar private tours in Saigon and Hue. I give this tour the highest rating and highly recommend it.
This tour provided an excellent overview of the top sights in Hanoi. A little rushed, but that seems to be the case with most excursions, particularly when the cruise ship docks so far away from the city. Lunch was excellent. There was a short stop at an art gallery at the end which was a little odd, but no pressure to buy anything. Great guide and driver!
We were on a Viking cruise and decided on this the afternoon before we went. Pickup was flawless. The tour was great. Seeing the train and having a Vietnamese coffee was a great experience. You will see. Lunch was perfect. Tour was perfect for us.
Hanoi is interesting but hard work. The drive from Halong Bay is a long 2 hours and our return trip took over 3 hours due to traffic. You get a lot of history than can feel like indoctrination to Americans who remember the war. Train Street is charming at twilight, with lights and a train coming through. I'm glad I saw the city but would not need to go back.
This was a fantastic tour. We got to see all of the highlights and our guide, Tim, allowed us to make it our own experience based on what was important to us. We really got to see and experience the city. Tim was knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, and always made us feel safe. He was outstanding. I highly recommend this tour.
