Our group had a fantastic tour with Carlos! He is very knowledgeable and shared such fun and interesting information with us. He ensured that we saw our top priority sites and made additional suggestions that we would not have even known to ask for. Carlos went above and beyond the entire tour! Highly recommend!

This Private Tour is definitely worth the money for its flexibility and ease of customization! Our awesome, funny and friendly guide Carlos picked us up in a newer Mercedes van which was super comfortable. We got to travel on the AutoBahn and he asked us what we wanted to see. We went to the WWII historical Eagles Nest and Carlos knew all the shortcuts to avoid us standing in lines. He also knew his history and came prepared with extra photos on his tablet. Next, we went to the Sound of Music movie locations and gave us a lot of info on his tablet, showing us the exact movie clips at the locations where we were. That was totally cool! We then went to Salzburg and explored the city a bit on our own, with Carlos first driving us around and providing some highlights. When my husband said he wanted to try fresh milk, Carlos went out of his way to take us to a small village and get my husband milk that had been in a cow 2 hours earlier. We had the best time on this tour and highly recommend it for people who want more flexibility than the usual river cruise ship tours provide.
Michael picked us up right of the ship. He took us on scenic route to Salzburg with a stop at the top of the mountain for a great view of Salzburg. Then we got a Sound Of Music themed tour where a lot of the scenes were filmed including the church from the wedding scene on the way back to the ship. It was a most spectacular day!
On May 13, 2026 Carlos gave 4 of us a private tour of all the sound of music movie scenes, filled with information. There were several other attractions that he added along the way. At the end, Viking changed our docking location at the last minute and Carlos quickly adjusted our trip and delivered us to the new location and help other Viking tavelers with another tour group. . Carlos is one of the best tour guides we have ever had. We wish we could rate him more than 5 stars.
Michael Toth is an amazing tour guide. He is informative and so much fun to talk with. He feels like part of the family and only wants the best experience for those touring.
Our tour guide Carlos was AMAZING! When we told him we did not want to do the sound of music tour but was on our list, he instantly had a suggestion for our itinerary that even included a few other things we did not know about (including a stop at the Silent Night Church market...so special) and a trip up the mountain to see the Alps. Carlos was super informative and full of GREAT suggestions. He was an exceptional tour guide and total professional. We were on a river cruise and although I made sure to send our location information in advance, he followed up with the cruise company! I cannot recommend this tour enough. If you are looking for something special for a day - DO THIS! Our entire group said it was one of the highlights of our entire trip!
Our guide Carlos was excellent in every way, knowledgeable, accommodating, interesting and made the excursion very enjoyable.
Carlos was an outstanding guide—knowledgeable, personable, and a delight to spend the day with. While on our Viking River Cruise, we took a day trip from Passau to Salzburg, and he showed us hidden gems we never would have found on our own or with a large group. The return drive through the countryside was the perfect finish. Salzburg is a charming town, and this was truly one of our favorite days of the trip. Highly recommend booking with Carlos!
Carlos was an excellent driver and tour guide. He was punctual and entertaining and very informative about the area.
THIS is the way to really experience Salzburg! Carlos took 6 of us from our river cruise ship in Passau to Salzburg. From the Autoban to the beautiful winding roads we were able to see the Alps, the gorgeous lakes and the Sound of Music highlights much better than on a tour bus. Carlos was a wonderful host, great driver and shared so much culture, local customs and a fabulous local restaurant lunch with us. It was the highlight of our 2 week European river cruise. Thank you for sharing the day and your Austrian culture with us!
Michael’s knowledge of both Salzburg and Sound of Music and his ability to communicate it and respond to our questions made the entire tour very enjoyable. Also, we appreciated his consideration of our group’s limitations when taking us to points of interest.
Michael was very knowledgeable about the Austrian history and the sound of music movie. He was helpful and pleasant and made our experience very pleasurable. Highly recommend taking this tour.
Going up to the top of the mountain and our driver played, The Hills are Alive with the sound of music. The view was spectacular. The highlights of the Sound of Music, the gardens, the fountains, the gazebo were beautiful.
Michael was an amazing guide. He took us to the most picturesque spots with lakes and mountain tops that we could have never seen by ourselves in one day trip from our viking cruise boat.He is extremely knowledgeable 'has a great sense of humor and got us safely in time to catch our boat on time. Would highly recommend this private tour. We were 8 in our group. Comfortable in mercedes vito.
Carlos took us on a tour to remember. We learned alot about the people and area. So much trivia about the Sound of Music. Our van was perfect and very comfortable. We highly recommend Carlos and this tour of Salzburg and the surrounding areas.
We were 4 couples traveling on a Viking cruise. We opted to book our own excursion to Salzburg and were thrilled that we did. Michael was the perfect guide. A few of us were long-time Sound of Music fans. He took us to several sites where parts of the movie were filmed. My personal favorite was seeing the landscape where the opening scene was shot. It was as breathtaking in person as on the big screen. To wander the streets where Mozart was raised, learn some of the history of Salzburg along with the back stories of the shooting of the Sound of Music was a day beyond my dreams. To top it off, Michael knew just where to take us to meet up with our river boat. We really couldn't have asked for more.
Carlos was absolutely fantastic. We have very high standards, and he crushed it for all 6 of us. I would not hesitate selecting Carlos for your Sound of Music tour. He could not have been better, and unlike so many is a tremendous communicator. Book with this guy! Trust me.
Saltzburg with a view of the Alps. Michael was excellent, he customized the tour and the entire day for us.
Sound of music experiences, and a knowledgeable, entertaining guide. Michael is the best. Michael picked us ip at ship right on time and entertained us on the long drive to Salzburg.
Micheal picked us up at our boat in Passau and drove us 2 hours into Salzburg. Along the way, he provided us with interesting information. It was a beautiful, snowy day, so he took us to a couple of fairy tail spots to view. Afterwards, we went into Salzburg and we opted to shop at the Christmas Market over a tour! It just wasn't enough time. He promptly got us back to the boat on time, taking a different route with more magnificent views.
Our tour guide, Michael was exceptional. He was punctual, polite and very informative. Excellent trip!
Michael was very knowledgeable of the area and accommodating to last minute changes. Great tour! He knew how to move us quickly through crowds. Awesome job Michael, thank you!
Michael couldn't have been any better. Very knowledgeable and personable. Went out of his way to ensure our visit was a success. The weather was terrible (snow, rain, and fog) but Michael handled the driving and commentary very well.
Michael was a wonderful guide for our day trip. He picked us up promptly (even a little early) right from the ship in Passau. He is full of knowledge about the country as well as the Salzburg area. The advantage of of private tour is stopping at hidden treasures along the way. Michael stopped off a small local church on a beautiful lake. What a special place!!! He took a mountain approach to introduce us to Salzburg. Can't thank him enough for taking such good care of us. We totally enjoyed the overview of Salzburg, the mountains, the lovely lunch and the sites of the Sound of Music. Looking forward to returning some day.
