Unbeatable location, but definitely not a 5-star experience The location is unbeatable! It is right across from the Sun and Moon Pagodas, with plenty of shops and the night market right beside the hotel. However, the rooms are old, weary, and dated. The elevators also took forever to arrive. The hotel severely lacks the basic facilities you would expect at a 5-star property — there is NO gym and NO swimming pool. To make matters worse, the breakfast spread remained exactly the same for all three days of our stay (boring and very plain-tasting). Service was just okay, but it definitely could be better.

Big tourist place. Ok for few nights exploring Guilin. Dont expect more than that. Rooms are big. Some are outdated. Breakfast is ok . Staff is amaizing and very freindly
This is a great hotel. Room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a great shower. (Our room safe did not work though). The breakfast is very good with a large selection of food. Something for every one. If you have time there is a pool and sauna you can use. Great location with a great view from the rooftop bar.
We stayed here for 3 nights with a tour group. The location is good as it is just across the entrance to Elephant trunk rock. The pedestrian street with lots of apparel boutiques are also around the corner. In fact, one can see the Sun and Moon pagoda from the room! Make sure you ask for such a room. Room is generally fine but our shower door hinge was slightly dislodged and they could not remedy it. The bathroom was a little wet for 3 nights... The hotel has quite good amenities such as an indoor pool and gym that overlook it. It can get really busy at breakfast and seating could be challenging during peak hours of 7-8am.
I'm still here and not happy. I was told the swimming pool would be open every day for the week I was staying But they close the pool at end of the month for a full day and a half for a clean. Sometimes not the last day of the month as it varies. Obviously the people who answer the emails don't talk to the pool department or maintenance. I have a bad back so not happy Jan. There is a bad smell of smoke every time you go to the pool, if it is open. We were told we would have three rooms in a line at booking but we were split apart on arrival. No milk or anything in the fridge to make cafe, and the fridge barely works, so had to go for a walk to find some. No soy milk at breakfast for the vegetarians. The WiFi is basically absent and they have a lock on it so you can't go outside China even with a VPN so forget about checking your remote email. And very poor room insulation so you hear the NIGHTLY loud show downstairs in the street booming into your room until late. Other posters say it's a market, all I know if they it is loud. And every night. It will help a little if you get an EVEN numbered room not an ODD numbered room as it's at least on the less noisy side. You hear EVERYONE in your corridor. Your airconditioning won't work as many many other reviewers here have noted. The standard of English at the hotel is very very poor. I had to go via four people on the hotel phone to get someone to open a locked door. Even then barely able to hold a conversation. Try somewhere else... Maybe the Shangri La or Sheraton.
