We visited Guayaquil on an overnight stop waiting for our trip home. We were picked up in our hotel lobby and taken on a comprehensive tour of the city. We had no idea of the scope and size of Guayaquil. We had a guide and a driver in a private car. This was very efficient because we could get dropped off directly at a stop and easily picked up without a lot of walking in the heat and crowds of the city on a Saturday. We visited the Iguana Park, the beach, several beautiful art installations, cultural landmarks, scenic overlooks and heard the story of Ecuador and Guayaquil. It really was a great way to spend three hours and see the city. Also our driver was happy to make stops along the way for our personal needs(drugstore, water, snacks, etc.). We usually try to make the most of any extra time we have while traveling and this was a perfect way to enjoy a free day. We recommend this easy and safe tour for anyone.
Aldo was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and we got to see a lot of the city. Our driver Kevin was very safe and courteous. We really enjoyed the gondola as it gave us a good perspective of the city. Highly recommend this tour.
I personally did not enjoy my experience due to sudden self induced injury on the tour bus. Disclaimer: Viator is NOT being blamed or being held responsible. I am amending my review based on the quick reply I received, from the General Manager himself, acknowledging my frustrations! That alone was/is impressive in itself! These 2 beavers 🦫 🦫 SINCERLY appreciate your dedication to us! The GM read my negative 😔 review and shared our frustrations with his team. They are working on implementing new procedures to insure the comfort of their clients! Which will include: reasonable break times, time to experience the local food & drink & souvenir shopping! Very cool!! Thank you! I will continue to use Viator as an excursion company wherever we go, especially in Barbados! BRILLIANT excursions there! On a personal note: This cruise has inspired me to learn the beautiful Spanish language. I WILL (please pray that I do) learn it to have the abilty to communicate with the locals much easier; even if it takes months of sleeping with earplugs in my ears listening, as I slumber, to learn it subliminally! VIATOR honors their commitment to their travelers. All of your customers sincerely appreciate your dedication to us!
Alan was a great guide explaining a lot of history about the Spanish and Guayaquil, taking us to allthe main attractions.
Javeth was our guide and he was fantastic. We toured the city and saw artwork and a view from above. The walking tour was very fun. Adorable neighborhood, parks, cathedral, city festival and a ride on the gondola. Love Guayaquil, highly recommend this tour.
It was fabulous!! Driving and walking, seeing fun and beautiful things we never would have seen. Our guide spoke great English! Wonderful driver
Javeth was a great tour guide and showed us the best of Guayaquil. His knowledge about his country was exceptional and we learnt so much about Guayaquil and especially about the independence of the city.
This was a wonderful, informative and interesting tour of Guayaquil! Our guide Javeth and driver Richard were knowledgeable and fun.
Fabulous experience with Bonnie, our guide and our driver Richard! We saw and learned so much in the 3.5 hours
Javeth is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. We had a wonderful tour packed with historical facts and information. Highly recommend!
This tour was an excellent way to learn the history of Guayaquil. Our guide was informative and charming.
Interesting city. Beautiful old buildings and lots of new building. Very nice old churches. High park gave a very nice view of the city.
It was a great tour. Javeth took us all around to many spots. Each time he stopped and explained all about each item. His knowledge of the area and the history of everything made this a wonderful experience. This was a great tour and I highly recommend it.
Tour guide was knowledgeable , kind and efficient. I feel like I saw the best highlights of the city, and felt very safe .
We did our tour with Javeth. He was a very informative guide and answered lots of our questions about the city and life in Ecuador. The walk around the central city was enjoyable and reassuring for us around safety visiting this interesting city. We did the 430 pm tour and I don’t think that the timing of this tour is great as there was a lot of afternoon work traffic in the latter stages of the tour.
Great coverage of all key attractions of Guayaquil in 4 hours. Yaveth was an excellent tour guide; he was knowledgeable, answered my numerous questions, kindly too pictures of us and never rushed us.
Lots to see and experience with this tour. You will travel via car for part of it, but you will walk a lot in the City Center and Riverfront (Malecón). Iguana Park is awesome. Guayaquil has a rich history. Make sure you bring a bottle of water as the weather can be hit and muggy. The tour guides speak good English and are very helpful and friendly.
Javeth was extremely knowledgeable about Ecuadorian history and culture. He took the time to ask what we wanted to do vice just proceed on the tour.
We had a great private tour of Guayaquil with Javeth. He was very knowledgeable about the city and its history. We walked through city center taking time to learn about the history of the city and take pictures. We encountered heavy rains during the sightseeing portion of the tour however it did not detour us from seeing everything that was noted on the tour. The tour was a nice leisurely pace and we were not rushed. I was able to purchase some local chocolates & coffee. Great way to enjoy the city before heading to the Galápagos Islands!
We were picked up from outside our apartment and walked around the city while Javeth the guide stopped and talked about various sights along the way. A driver then drove us to further areas in the city and then dropped us off to where we wanted to continue exploring. Or you could get dropped off back to your accommodation.
Guayaquil not be at the top of anyone’s bucket list of places to visit in South America. But this tour was really lovely and well worth it. It started with a stroll through downtown, then along the Malecon 2000., then, a hike to the light house and ended with a walk along the river. Very informative. Antonio was a great and most gracious guide.
Loved this tour. Great air conditioned mini bus which was shared with four other people. Great knowledgeable guide who was lovely. Would definitely recommend this tour. We walked around interesting places and drove to a fabulous view point.
Our guide, Milton was fantastic. We could not have asked for a more knowledgeable, accommodating, or charming person who took really good care of us. He loves his home city and it showed.
This tour was a great tour to get an overview of Guayaquil. We learned a lot about the cities history and culture.
It was very thorough and a nice blend of walking and riding in the car. Our guide and driver were very accommodating.
Excellent way to see some of the sights in the city. Our guide, Antonio Escobar, was wonderful - knowledgeable, personable, and a great ambassador for this city. Highly recommend!
430 time did not allow you to visit iguana park we were booted from church and coffee museum closed as well
A very full and comprehensive guide to the City with a great guide who really looked after us and shared his local lnowledge
Picked up and returned to our hotel by a friendly guide;just us on the tour. We walked and he explained the history of Ecuador & Guayaquil, and the significance of what we were seeing. Happy to stop for a coffee and toilet stop. He had a driver who took us from one spot to another. Great views of the city from a vantage point;amazing sculptures of parrot an iguana and a monkey, made from thousands of pieces of ceramic. And mustn't forget the park with iguanas everywhere
Javeth was knowledgeable and very accomodating! Tour was exactly as described and gave us a good overview of the city
We enjoyed learning about the history behind the city and seeing the important buildings and city areas. We especially enjoyed walking the Malecon. Our guide, Tony Escobar, was excellent. He was very articulate and accommodating to our desires. Our driver Violetta was also great!
We had a great early Sunday tour with Tony. Our time was limited as we had a flight later in the day. With driver Richard and Tony as our guide, we saw all the historic and scenic sights in Guayaquil. Tony is very personable and also interested in getting the best photo angles for his clients. We had a great time!
This was a wonderful trip around Guayaquil, seeing all of the main sites. Part of the tour was with an air conditioned car, and part by walking. Javeth was an amazing guide who really went above and beyond.
This is a great tour to view the major landmarks in Guayaquil. Our guide, Javeth, was excellent and very knowledgeable about the history of the city. This tour is essentially a private tour with just your group and the guide so the cost is very reasonable. Highly recommend!
We had an excellent tour with Javeth! His knowledge and passion for the history of the city and its people was outstanding. He was very engaging and had a good sense of humor. I believe this tour is a must, even if you are only here a few days like us.
A must book tour! Javeth, was a wealth of knowledge of the city and led the best exploration of Guayaquil’s major city highlights!!
This was a pricey private car tour with hotel pick-up at 1400. ($310 for 2 adults for 3 hours.) When the guide did not show up by 1420, we called the tour operator. The hotel concierge called them. Viator called, texted, and emailed them. No answer. By 1530, the hotel had arranged for a taxi driver to take us on the same itinerary, but no English-speaking guide. Instead, the driver turned on his speaker-phone and found an English-Spanish translation app using Google to describe the points of interest. Result: a professionally narrated 3-hour tour for just $36! At the end of the day, we checked our emails. Viator had already refunded our $310, and the tour operator explained the no-show and offered to give us the tour for free on another day, which we could not do. Thanks anyway. Problems can and will happen. Perhaps the tour operator can keep their phone on during tour hours and call the to guide to verify that the guide showed up on time?
Guayaquil is such a beautiful city, and this mixed driving/walking tour provides just enough detail and just the right introduction to make us want to see more. Our guide, Jabeth (at Free Tours Guayaquil) and our driver, Freddie, were great company.
We had a very enjoyable guided tour of Guayaquil. We spent half the time in the car and half of it walking. We saw a lot of the city and learned a lot about the history and life in Ecuador. It was great to see the highlights of the city during our short stay here. We would highly recommend this tour!
Guide was great - lots of interesting knowledge and a real passion for the history of Guayaquil in general! Enjoyed talking about local Guayaquil and Ecuadorian national culture and South American politics over the last century as well.
Guide was well versed with the history, culture and pulse of the city. We actually had a driver and guide (2 people) who occupied the front seat. The vehicle was a mid size car, well maintained and clean. We booked for two seniors and one teen. Our teen was 14 and almost adult size so the back seat was a bit tight for three normal sized adults - sometime to be aware of when booking. We made it work and had a great time.
This is an EXCELLENT tour. Jovan and our driver were wonderful. Good English for me. I let them know the one thing I had to see and it was fine (Photos of Iguanas in Parque Seninario). Got to see so much more and get a heat taste for Guayaquil. Walking through the Center and the Mallecon was an unexpected treat. All great
Took the tour with Javeth today and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was friendly, personable, and knew so much! I highly recommend taking this tour and learning about the city before heading to the Galápagos Islands. Javeth really made this a great experience.
Loved the iguanas. Heavy rain the previous night limited us to 1/2 of the area we explored. Guide didn't have strong English.
Excellent trip. Javeth did a great job, especially bringing the history to life. the city from a great vantage point and then did a walking tour of the river areas and historical district including city hall.
Go where locals go with expert guide. Relaxed and thoughtful visit in town. Guide will customize tour to your tastes
It was a very good tour, our tour guide Javeth was incredibly kind and with knowledge of everything. The only bad detail is that it was a very small car for the day, it was dirty, and they bring a new tour guide with us to train. it was uncomfortable.
A wonderful peek into the political and natural history of the city! Very comfortable ride and easy communication with the guide.
Our guide Chevy was fantastic! Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. It was great to have a portion of the tour by car and the rest on foot.
