The hotel was our first true 5-star experience in Colombia after travelling through Bogotá and Armenia. It is set in a pleasant neighbourhood, the team spoke English, and everyone was polite, gracious, smiling and welcoming. We could not fault any member of staff. Unfortunately I don’t remember all of their names, so it feels unfair to single out too many, but I recall David from F&B, Juliana at breakfast, Juan at Reception and (if I remember correctly) Harold, the butler who escorted us to the lobby on arrival. Every interaction was professional and genuinely well-intended. Our room was clean and spacious – we especially appreciated the generous shower and the overall tasteful design. The breakfast was delicious. It is only a pity we did not manage to dine at their Michelin-starred restaurant, as our daytime plans clashed with the available times. Overall, we had a very positive stay and would gladly return. Thank you for the lovely time.

We spent a few days at this beautifully designed, boutique luxury hotel with an open-sky atrium with living wall and rooftop pool/hottub/spa. We booked a room with a bathtub by the window, which is a fun idea but impractical for our purposes. A table and chairs or a small sofa may have better for us. The shower/bathroom area could have benefitted from a door. The stocked mini fridge and snacks are included in the room rate, and replenished each day - a nice touch. The television offering many English speaking channels, and streaming services are easy to use. The hotel features 3 restaurants, which was unexpected for a boutique hotel of this size. Definitely spend some time on the roof pool/hottub and take in the spectacular viewa. The hotel is located in the very tourist friendly El Poblado area - perfect for first time and returning visitors...strongly recommended.
Had an incredible experience at Elcielo in Medellin. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious - even room service. Eduardo who helped us book the rooms was on site and a great resource for us. Hubert who worked the night shift in the lobby was so lovely and incredibly helpful while we worked quite a few late nights on our project. Milton, who worked the restaurant, was also a delight and provided excellent recommendations.
We decided to give El Cielo Hotel a try after a wonderful experience at El Cielo Restaurant in Miami, stepping away from our usual stays at the Marriott. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, and our room was clean and visually appealing. However, our stay was far from relaxing. Despite being located on a quiet street, the rooms are anything but quiet. The hotel is undergoing renovations, which means construction and drilling noises begin as early as 7 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m., often causing the rooms to vibrate. Immediately after that, loud music from the restaurant begins and continues until around 11 p.m., with bass so strong it feels like the speakers are in the room with you. Unfortunately, we were not informed of the ongoing construction prior to our stay. When we raised our concerns with the front desk and concierge, we were told by Viviana at the concierge desk that we were welcome to leave—with our 22-month-old child in tow—which felt dismissive and unhelpful. The room service menu is extremely limited, and no modifications or substitutions are allowed. The included breakfast offers only four preset options, again with no flexibility. This rigidity extended to all aspects of the service, making it particularly difficult to accommodate a toddler’s needs. The hotel does not appear to be child-friendly: there are no children’s menu items, no willingness to adapt dishes, no changing tables in the public restrooms, and the common areas are quite small. On a positive note, the bellmen and housekeeping staff were kind, attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable, especially with our daughter. Their efforts were greatly appreciated. Overall, while El Cielo Hotel has style and potential, it currently lacks the comfort, quiet, and flexibility that travelers—especially families—need. If you're looking to relax, this may not be the right choice.
Cool and stylish hotel and excellent service throughout. Let down by the rooms which are way too crowded (the armchair was moved out), poor ac, lack of functional areas (shelves and wardrobes), the door doesn’t close unless pulled again and no coffee machine. These are standard rooms not suites. Again staff were all excellent and the overall ambience was great but room design doesn’t fit the purpose.
