It was a wonderful tour through the mountains. I got a pick up at my hostel and then we went and had a nice tour with lots of information about the surrounding mines and history. And the road was pretty good so not heavy at all. The off road tour would have been more jntense, but for me this was great to have a chill up Hill tour.

Very fun tour! Highly recommend. Beautiful nature and knowledgeable and friendly guides. Saw local birds, plants, vistas. Gracias Susana and Antonio!
Excellent guides. Excellent tour. The title says it all. Go for a ride with Cacomixtle, you won’t regret it.
The mountain bike tour was absolutely worth it. Everything was very spontaneous, relaxed and easygoing. The guide was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable about the area and made us feel comfortable right away. He even came to pick us up, which made everything very uncomplicated. Along the way, we got small, authentic insights into everyday Mexican life, which was a really nice touch. The route itself was not too demanding and well manageable, even if you are out of practice or not very sporty. Any initial doubts were completely unnecessary. I would definitely recommend this tour. 😊
Great excursion - nice way to get a different perspective on Guanajuato. We had to revise the route due to some road closures, but it actually made it rather exciting - I didn't expect to be riding my bike through the historic center toward Marfil, but it was fun! The Museo Ex Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera is the high point of the tour - it's a beautiful house and grounds, well-worth visiting. This tour with Susana was a wonderful way to get a good deal of exercise AND a clearer understanding of the geography and history of the area. I'm so glad that I did it. Also did two other Cacomixtle tours with Susana: the walking tour of the centro (this provided the perfect overview for how to spend my week in Guanajuato, with great recommendations for food and culture, not to mention a winning personality), and the mining neighborhoods tour, which is essential for getting to know the "real" Guanajuato - outside of the tourist sites, as well as the specifics of the mining industry. And wherever we went, Susana seemed to know every single person in Guanajuato, which made it seem like the friendliest city in Mexico. Don't hesitate to book any of these tours! See Less
Very flexible and knowledgeable guide. Biked on dirt road from mountain out of town to Guanajuato. We are the most delicious donuts and got to see how they are made.
Susana and Antonio were amazing! My friend and I had the best time on the mountain bike trail! I’m not too experienced in mountain bikes, and there were some fast and challenging spots, especially at the end when you get into town and traffic. We had many stops around the mining towns, and even stopped at a bakery in one of the villages, which was amazing! I HIGHLY recommend this company. It was a lot of fun and learned a lot!
I arranged a personalized tour with Armando which was a mix of riding up out of town, dirt road climbing, technical single track. Armando met me on time and we had a really great 3 hour ride through varied terrain and great views of Gto. from different vantages. He is a great and interesting guy. I will definitely go out with him again. I can't recommend him enough.
Great experience rode with Jose, guided with great professionalism and the bicycle was awesome! Would love to join again!
Our family had a great bicycle tour with Armando in the Santa Rosa mountains. The tour was prompt, courteous, and safe. Our family really enjoyed getting to know Armando and learn more about the mountains, the mines, and Guanajuato. Armando humored our fledgling Spanish speakers in the family by practicing Spanish with us. He was fluent in English and spoke perfect English with our non-Spanish speaker. A moderate level of fitness is needed, the biking is mostly downhill with a few gentle uphills. The tracks are technical in a few places, so some basic mountain biking skills are a good idea. Thank you Armando, it was a great experience!
Great experience with my guide Jose, every thing is well organized and the bike is easy to ride, love it and highly recommended!
It was nice ride in the mountains near the Guanajuato. A bit challenging for me - and that's why interesting. On the summit there is a beautiful view to Guanajuato. Also we rode near mines and Armando gave me some information about them
Private tour. Informative, scenic, enjoyable and a good workout. Antonio is a friendly guide. We were picked up on-time at our Airbnb and dropped off in Centro per our request. Overall good experience.
Nice ride through the hills and mountains outside of Guanajuato. Mostly downhill on fire roads. Technically and physically easy. The guide was very knowledgeable of the area. Nice stop at a village bakery with fresh out of the oven buns.
The bike that was provided was good quality and in good condition. Antonio was a great guide, providing his knowledge of the area as well as a really fun ride. You do need to be an experienced mountain biker for this descent.
Susana is amazing!! She was kind enough to offer to pick us up at our Airbnb which we greatly appreciate. Extremely knowledgeable about the history of Guanajuato and down to earth as well. We even got to hop off the bikes and explore the waterfall by foot! I can’t wait to go back and do the tour again 🥹 thank you susana!
Susana and Antonio were fantastic ‘bike guides’, well-informed about local history (including prehistory), plants and fauna. And they were very patient with folks who haven’t been on a bicycle for a while. We rode through Puentecillas and up to Sombrero Pt. which gave us a beautiful view of the reservoir and surrounding landscape of Guanajuato. It was my favorite activity in the city. Will definitely do it again.
I had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. My guide, Antonio, was informative, very kind as well as patient with me an emergent Spanish speaker. If you visit, Guanajuato do not miss out a trip with Cacimixtle.
It was great! We were picked up 2min from our hotel in a safe place he could park with bikes, helmets and gloves loaded in the truck. Antonio drove us up to the forest and pointed out areas of interest and talked about the mining culture here. I am a large woman and hadn’t rode a bike in over 10 years but in the spirit of trying something new that my son wanted to do, we gave it a go! We stopped as needed, we passed some communities in the forest and while I was resting, he showed my son how to use his sling and let him try his sling shot while we overlooked a canyon area of the forest. It was much cooler temps than here in the city so the breeze felt great while riding. His son who also does tours and was communicating with me to arrange this, he was super responsive and answered all our questions. They don’t have “wider” seats which I think would have helped me but I just took breaks as needed. We would definitely do another type of tour with them for sure!
As a seasoned Mountain Biker, I must admit that this was one of my favorite rides all time. The guide,Antonio, is a retired Mine engineer who knows who really knows the mountains of Guanajuato because he worked in the surrounding mines. In addition, he is very popular with the people that live in the pueblos along the trail. At one point he took me into a house built on top of ruins which happened to be a bakery which baked pan dulce with fire wood. Definitely the best I have had in all of Mexico. The route is perfect for beginner to advance and concludes with a ride through colonial downtown Guanajuato.
We had the most incredible time with Antonio bicycling around the old mining towns and the next day cycling through Guanajuato. Antonio's knowledge and passion for the area is unparalleled, and these two tours with him turned our trip from good into awesome. Antonio focused on making sure we had an authentic experience - between taking us to a tiny bakery in the mountains to cycling to places in the city we definitely would not have seen on our own. We are very grateful to have found Cacomixtle, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventurous way to get to know the area.
We had a great time during our historical bike tour through "Marfil" area, we learnt so much about Guanajuato's culture and saw new beautiful spots we've never even heard of before. Susana is such a fabulous fun guide, very patient, personable, kind, and caring she made us feel very welcomed and safe. This is a tour that we truly recommend, it is no ordinary ride, especially if you enjoy a good chellenging bike ride, it is absolutely worth it. 10/10
A great way to get to know the city. The bike tour was perfect for exploring the most beautiful and unknown corners of Guanajuato. The pace was perfect to learn his story and the guide made the experience even better. Fully recommended!
Excellent city tour!! Ideal to know the typical areas and monuments of the city. The walk becomes very pleasant with the guide. Highly recommended!
Excellent service, very good communication and punctuality Susanna and Antonio very friendly and knowledgeable of the area, they go into the roots of the village as well as nice steps and the tour very rollable for all levels. It was certainly what we liked the most when visiting Guanajuato.
The Sierra bike tour was the best I have ever experienced! Not only was it a walk, I also learned about the history of the place. I find it an amazing option to go with family or friends 💚
Susana is an expert in the history of Guanajuato. His family Irene has direct connections with the city and its culture. Susana guided us throughout the city and taught us about the history of Guanajuato in a fun, interesting and interactive way. It was a pleasure to learn about the city and the history of Mexico in general from her. 100% recommended!
A long weekend in Guanajuato as a family. Where Susana and Antonio picked us up at our hotel, we went in their van to the Sierra de Santa Rosa mountain range on the bike tour. Excellent experience, a path of terrace but not difficult. Susanna and Antonio always accompanying us, very friendly and attentive. Definitely a great experience
Touring the city of Guanajuato by bicycle, through the most emblematic places is an experience that cannot be missed. Our host’s guide and explanations perfectly complement the adventure.
Getting to know the Sierra de Santa Rosa is one of Guanajuato Capital’s must-see places, for being in touch with nature; and what better way than to combine it with a bit of physical activity like cycling. The Ojeda family, in addition to being excellent mountain bikers, are certified tourist guides that will make the tour much more entertaining and that also have a lot of anecdotes and data to share. It is a tour that can amaze tourists but also locals will enjoy knowing our mountain range in another way Don't stop asking Don Toño or Susana to teach you how to use the slingshot.
How wonderful to be able to know Guanajuato and its Sierra de Santa Rosa by the hand of Cacomixtle, of course I tell you that you can not miss the opportunity to enjoy the bike ride offered by the Ojeda Orranti family. Thank you for your kindness, your passion for what you do and above all for conveying the love for nature. This walk is a must in Guanajuato. The security that gives you its equipment combined with the good humor of Susy and Don Toño makes this experience an unforgettable one. Put it in your schedule travelers!
