Villa Maria Cristina

My husband and I very much enjoyed our 7 nights at Villa Maria Cristina. It was our first time visiting Guanajuato City and we would return just to visit Villa Maria Cristina. The staff was very attentive, the grounds are stunning (very worthy of the SLH designation). Both of our spa services - massages and facial is one of the many reasons we would return. Additionally, we enjoyed the outdoor pool and made use of the workout facility. We deliberately wanted to be out of the centro and were delighted with the Barrio de La Presa which is quiet, very near the Presa de la Olla, as well as several nice restaurants. Two suggestions for the hotel: add more details to the room descriptions for ease of selection and assess the restaurant wine prices. Warm wishes to all of the staff!

This hotel was the worst part of our stay. The bathroom when we arrived was dirty. The AC didn't work well at all and was super loud to the point where I couldn't sleep. There are ALOT for stairs just to get to your room. It is also over 25min walk to the center of the old down and it's uphill. Traffic is so bad that it takes over 15mins to get an Uber. We paid $250 per night to stay here and it was so overpriced for what it was. Dear Klaus, the reservation was under my husband's name and it was escalated to the manager. We actually have one more night here but I was displeased with the "solution" which was an upgrade to another room with an equally stained bathroom and worn down furnishings.

Beautiful, sprawling hotel with lovely rooms and amenities. The staff is very professional and helpful. It’s a short walk to the center of town.

The hotel location is a bit of a walk to the center but an enjoyable one through a nice neighborhood with local shops to enjoy along the way (coffee, pan dulce, restaurants, etc). The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly but not the most attentive as they were busy accommodating a large wedding party during a portion of our stay. We checked in later in the evening and had high hopes for a good dinner at the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was not good (my husband had pasta and I had shrimp), neither was good and we would not recommend eating there. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a nice stay in Guanajuato if you plan to use the amenities and enjoy a comfortable spacious room.
