Zipline, Horseback Riding, Tubing, Hot Springs & Lunch @ Volcano National Park

We had an amazing time with the full-day adventure tour! Our driver, Jose, was incredibly friendly and made the drive even more enjoyable by pointing out wildlife along the property. The zipline guides, Amir and Gerardo, were fantastic friendly, professional, and made us feel safe throughout the experience. A special shoutout to Gerardo during the tubing adventure. He worked incredibly hard to guide us safely through the rapids, and we truly appreciated his effort and positive attitude. The entire experience was well organized and so much fun. They also had a photographer taking pictures throughout the day. We ended up purchasing them because they were very reasonably priced. My only suggestion would be to capture more of the beautiful scenery in the photos, especially landmarks like the suspension bridge, instead of taking such close-up shots. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun and memorable adventure!

Jose' was our guide and he picked us up from our hotel. We stopped for beer and drinks about halfway through the trip. He also had water and juices for us. All activities were included. We thoroughly enjoyed all of it and highly recommend this tour. It is an all day tour and the drive is about 1.5-2 hours one way. We were unsure about the mud bath and hot springs when originally booking, but decided to try it anyways and it exceeded our expectations. Recommend doing the mud first, then the cold spring shower to rinse, and you'll be happy with the warm water by that point. Zip line tour is not for the faint of heart, and please be aware that once you start, you have to finish as there is no real way out of the canyon. We purchased the photo pack and highly recommend that. I think my personal favorite was the river tubing. It all was amazing, though. Again, Cannot recommend our guide, Jose', enough! Thanks so much!!! OH - and the lunch was very good, too!

We used this company both for airport transportation to and from Liberia to Playa Grande as well as our excursion to Rincon de La Vieja. Very reasonable prices and exceptional customer service! Our tour guide Jose became our friend and accommodated all of our requests—even making extra stops so the kids could jump off waterfalls and get souvenirs. We loved Jose and hope to be back! If you are looking for a company to make your excursion the perfect experience, this is it!

Wonderful trip. A lot of driving but our driver was wonderful. The horseback riding was okay. The tubing and zip lining were amazing!! Our adult children were with us and we all loved the day. Even the lunch, we did not have high expectations, was fantastic. The hot springs was a great way to end the day. One thing, each activity had different staff and we were not prepared to tip at the end of each one and the staff was extremely good. Particularly for the tubing and zip lining which were very intense activities. Also, you horse back ride and go right to tubing. I recommend not wearing a small swimsuit on the tubes. The tubing is down rapids. It is not a leisurely float down a tame river. The staff does have dry bags for use which we did not know. So you can bring money to tip

Our driver, Jose, was friendly, informative and took good care of my daughter and I on this long, but fun-filled day of adventure. He told us that this was "our day" and he would shape the tour to refect our interests. Our favorite parts were the inner tubing in Class 1 and Class 2 rapids in the Rio Negra and zip-lining. The guides at the inner tubing activity were adept at herding the tubers and keeping us moving if we got caught up on a rock or stuck in an eddy. As far as ziplining, this was my 1st time and I loved it! You don't have to brake yourself because there is a system in place to slow you down. We zipped along a series of 9 different cables with an option to repel down the side of a cliff and climb back up on staple grips. You can also swing on a Tarzan rope and shout out your best Tarzan yell, followed by a traverse across a hanging bridge. By this time, we were ready for the delicious and authentic Costa Rican buffet style lunch. To end the day, we painted ourselves with volcanic mud, showered, then soaked in the geothermal pools of various temperatures from 96 deg F to 104 deg F. These waters have 7 different minerals which contribute to overall health and spirit. What a extraordinary day of activities we had!

Picked us up right on time with a well-stocked cooler in a very comfortable shuttle, and guided us through a really fun day in Rincon de la Vieja. So much fun, wouldn’t hesitate to book more tours through them again & again. Highly recommended!!

This was an amazing excursion! The zip lines were unique and unlike | have ever experienced! Some went through a narrow canyon! Our driver Jose was the best! He made our trip top notch. He was very professional and even stopped for us to get some breakfast since it was an early pickup. If you visit Costa Rica and opt for an excursion, ask for Jose! Pura Vida!

Great day long adventure. The day will proceed as follows: 1. Horse back riding 2. Tubing in the rapids 3. Lunch 4. Zip lining the canopy 5. Hot springs and mud Some hints. You don't need your phone to capture images because they provide photographers for $45. If you deem it truly necessary, bring a waterproof case to carry your phone. Also, try carrying some extra cash with you to give tips into the tip box at the end of each portion. Fun, long day. But, well worth the day away from the beach.

Our first day we went horseback riding, zip lining, tubbing and finished at the hot springs. It was so fun!! Our guide Jose was amazing. He was very friend and so nice! He got us beers, water and other snacks. The people in Costa Rica are so nice and they try their best to make you feel comfortable and safe. I recommend the tour and Jose 100%!

Overall, my girls and I had a really fun time. It was our first time ever going horseback riding, river tubing, ziplining, and going to a hot spring. Horseback riding through the rainforest was a little scary due to the terrain being uneven. River tubing is for the thrill-seekers but forewarning you - it can be VERY DANGEROUS! Unfortunately, I had a near-death experience when the rapids flipped my tube over and I fell in. 8 ziplines and 1 Tarzan swing was a lot of fun. The hot springs is the best way to end a day full of adventure! The mud masks were amazing too.

Great service from Ariel and Ronny. I accidentally booked from a hotel that wasn’t in the pick up area and we were able to work it out without issue. Ronny was our guide and was awesome. He helped our family feel completely at ease by starting with a side trip to grab some coffee/ hot cocoa. Then on our way to Rincon, we stopped to see white faced monkeys and toucans. The adventure at self was awesome. The horseback riding was super easy going which was a plus for me. The tubing probably wouldn’t be legal in the states. So much fun! And the zip lining was pretty tame till the end where you have to climb a canyon face over to a Tarzan swing. Thankfully there are staples but the kids were pretty freaked out by this. Soaking in the hot springs was a great way to end the day. Ronny was such a great guide for us. He was so easy going and very knowledgeable. I am grateful to have this experience as part of our trip to Costa Rica.

Ariel and Playa Grande were amazing! My group of friends had such a great time. Each activity was well planned out and so fun! We had no problems meeting our driver in the morning and he stuck with us the whole day meeting us after each activity. I can’t recommend this group enough. It was a fantastic day, definitely the highlight of our trip. We can’t wait to return and join them for another adventure!

We had the best time and loved every second of this tour. First off, Ariel was awesome! He was able to accommodate us and move our tour to the following day due to our luggage mistakenly taken. The tour guide, Ronny, was very friendly and professional. He picked us up, on-time, and even helped convince me and my wife to go river tubing. Our favorites were everything, but if we had to pick, definitely river tubing, ziplining, and mud bath. We cannot wait to come back to Costa Rica and we'll definitely use Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours for our excursion!

It was a great tour. The Playa Grande Tours was reliable and committed to offer an excellent service. We were able to accomplish more activities in one Day than do our driving to the National Forest. Ronny was very professional and knowledgeable. We really appreciate his kindness and willingness to help.

This was an absolute delight of a day. We booked last minute for just my husband and I and they were totally accommodating. We were coming from nosara so we had to drive a bit to meet Jose, who drove us the rest of the way. He was awesome- on time, super friendly, helpful and helped us to keep things moving along in the busy park. He said his only rules were that there were no rules and there was no rush... my kinda guy!! He stopped immediately upon meeting to grab some coffees since it was barely 7am, brought a cooler with cervesas, stopped on the way back for us to grab some gifts for the kiddos. All in all it was a great experience and such a fun day- the tubing especially is not to be missed! I’d highly recommend this adventure and with this company specifically. We just returned home and realized the park never emailed us the photos we paid for but Ariel has been in touch the entire time helping us sort it out. Quick replies and full attention. Zero complaints. We’ll 100% be back with the kids next time and fully plan on hitting up Ariel/Jose. Thanks so much for such a hospitable experience!! Pura vida!!

This tour is great if you are adventurous! Lol. We tried to be but skipped out on zip-lining and horseback riding. We were just too anxious about it. We did, however, do the tubing! That was a lot of fun and the staff was great. We also visited the Oropendula Waterfall which is absolutely beautiful. The hot springs and mud bath was my favorite part of the day!!! Lunch does not disappoint 😋 And Jose our tour guide was awesome. This is my second tour with Playa Grande Shuttle Tours and I will continue to book with them and refer all my friends to them. They are great!!!!

First off, Ariel is amazing! He is incredibly professional and was always available to answer any questions we had while planning our activities for our trip! He picked 2 of our group members up from the airport and they had nothing but positive things to say!! Jose was our driver for the full day combo trip at the National Park and he was also amazing and super friendly!! We had a great day at the park. Tubing was definitely the trip highlight for all of us, so much fun!!! This full day trip was worth every penny and I will be recommending Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours to all of my friends!

I am a planner, and a neurotic one at that. My husband is the same. I take on activities/hotels and he tackles transportation. This year we both wanted to celebrate our anniversary with something big, but didn’t have the energy to commit to it. This is where Playa Grande Shuttles & Tours stepped in and it was one of the best things that we ever did for ourselves. Ariel came highly recommended from two of my closest friends who also like to plan their travels, so I already knew that we were going to be in good hands. One of them even ended up joining us and he took care of both our families seamlessly. Let me also add that we were traveling with children (8yr and 3yr old) - not exactly sunshine and rainbows at all times, but he was extremely patient and made sure everyone was comfortable. For our 10 day stay, he took care care of our transportation to/from the airport, hotels, and variety of activities which he personalized. Everything was top notch. It’s also important to add that although we did a variety of things, he also made sure that there was enough down time to unwind and we never felt pressured to do anything. He was professional, communicative, accommodating, and thoughtful from day one. He’s also an all around great human being and to be honest, he was one of the highlights of our trip. So would I recommend Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours? Absolutely, in a heart beat.

We did this tour in July. Family of 4, 2 teenage girls. Our tour guide Juan was fantastic. Full of energy and truly loved sharing his country with us. The tour had everything on it. The food was amazing and the people were super friendly I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great time

We booked several excursions through Playa Grande Shuttle and Tours. Each one was fantastic and they quickly became the highlights of our trip. Their incredible team helped us to figure out a perfect itinerary for our time in Costa Rica and they gave us more of a "locals" experience rather than a big commercial tour experience. We started off with the Sunset Sail. It was spectacular. We sailed on a beautiful boat to a private cove where we then snorkeled and paddle boarded. The food and drinks were amazing. The crew was exceptional and the sunset was breathtaking. It was the perfect "kickoff" for our trip. The next day was the ATV tour to Playa Mina which was so much fun. We rode through the jungle, stopped to see the Howler Monkeys in the trees and then continued on to one of the most beautiful private beaches that we have ever seen. We snorkeled and swam and then rode back through the jungle with a fun stop at a local Soda for a drink before ending the tour. Our tour guide then picked us up and drove us to one of the best local Soda spots and we loved getting to know him over lunch. The last day was the Adventure Combo tour which was phenomenal. It was perfectly planned starting off with the horseback riding, rafting, an incredible lunch, ziplining and mudbaths. It was a day that we will never forget and memories that we will cherish. We felt like we had become friends with the Playa Grande Tour team by the end of the our trip and we were sad to say goodbye. Ariel, Manuela, Juan Carlos...thank you for making our trip unforgettable and we will always use your services when we come back to your beautiful country.

The tour we took was PHENOMENAL! My favorite parts were the tubing and hot springs. Nothing beats the relaxation that comes with a volcanic mud soak after an hour of whipping down a rapid filled river. Our driver was amazing- he even brought beer for us!! Highly recommend this service for your vacation.

Ariel showed us an amazing experience. There were wonderful tour excursions to choose from. He was very professional and responsive as we were coordinating our trip while still in the US. The excursions we did over two days (canopy tour, hot springs mud bath, rafting, volcano hike) were all really incredible. Out tour guide, Ariel, became a friend by the end. He was thoughtful in the places we stopped for food and breaks throughout the trip, and timed our excursions in a way to beat crowds. I highly reccommend him!

We booked a four day private tour of the Arenal area with Playa Grande Tours, and our expectations were exceeded every step of the way. This was our second time working with Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours, and we were not disappointed. Ariel was on time to pick us up in Samara, and shared his deep knowledge of sights and history on the long drive to La Fortuna. During the days we spend in the Arenal region, he planned itineraries that were interesting, personal, and struck the right balance between busy and enjoying some time to relax. In addition, we were traveling with our young daughter (age 3), and Ariel went absolutely above and beyond to make sure she was happy, comfortable and having fun at all times. Costa Rica is a fun, easy place to travel alone, but we got so much more out of the experience traveling with Ariel as our guide than we would have on our own. We can't wait to go back!

My family and I took our first trip to Costa Rica last week and cannot wait to go back! We stayed in Playa Grande and the VRBO owner recommended Ariel/Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours for planning activities. We traveled with another family, so there were 8 of us total (ages 12 - 52). We booked the all day combo pack. Ariel and Juan Carlos were awesome - truly over the top accommodating! Just like all of the reviews say, they were patient, attentive, flexible, keep you busy and entertained without feeling rushed, etc. They were also great conversationalists and we learned a ton about the country on our journey. Will definitely use them again when we return.

They do an incredible job at keeping you busy & entertained, while not feeling rushed . The staff is amazing, food was delicious, and we were in the most beautiful place. Loved everything about this day! Would love to come back & do it again.

It was our first time in Costa Rica and we chose to go to Volcano Rincon de la Vieja. Ariel was our tour guide and he was very patient and very attentive through out the whole day. Everything was perfect from the activities to the food. We would definitely do this again when we go back to CR.

We came to Costa Rica to meet up with extended family but knew we wanted an adventurous day that might have been too much for the others. We planned to take advantage before their arrival. It turned out to be the best day of our trip! Orlando was super sweet and accommodating. He brought us to this beautiful national park, got us set up with our first adventure and met us at the end to drive us comfortably to the next meeting spot each time. We left all of our valuables in his care. We went horseback riding, tubing, had lunch and then zip lined and went to the mud bath and hot springs. Orlando took us to see a waterfall too. Although it was quite late and there was plenty of traffic, Orlando stopped at the Walmart for us before cheerfully depositing us at the hotel. It was a full and amazing day. Thank you!!

I just don’t have enough words to say how Ariel absolutely MADE our trip. Costa Rica is beautiful - yes. But it is most definitely a place to be truly *experienced* and he made that happen for us!! We had a wide range of ages (13-73) and physical abilities to consider. Ariel was so patient and accommodating with all of our needs and questions while trying to plan excursions that our group could experience together. We enjoyed a 3/4 day fishing trip, Rincon de la Vieja adventure, sunset sail and snorkel and a surf lesson! Even my 66 year old mom found her inner-adventurist and zip-lined and tubed the white water rapids for the first time in her life. Ariel was right there with her making sure she had everything she needed - helping her carry her tube and offering us all an ice cold beer (or several) when it was over! He doesn’t book just any tours, he has tried them all and knows which companies give the absolute best experience - each of them were truly outstanding!! Just tell him what you would like to do and he customize it just for you and make it happen. Of the most importance is that we all made wonderful friends with Ariel, Jorge and several others, we can’t wait to go back!! Book your adventures with these guys - and you’ll have the experience of your life!

Our first trip to Costa Rica was a huge success! Thanks to Ariel and his staff of family and friends who guided us through some of the best adventures of our lives!! We were a family of seven that included parents, teens and grandparents. What a wide range of interests and needs, but Ariel handled everything with ease. He was a wealth of knowledge as well, pointing out interesting places and explaining the culture. We were so comfortable with Ariel and his crew they felt like part of our group. We even asked the waiters at the buffet lunch to give us a larger table so they could join us. As the eldest of the group going on the Adventure Tour, he was so respectful and helpful to me I had nothing to worry about! For instance, Fernando carried my tube all the way down to the river. I felt a little silly at first, but as we made our way down the uneven, rocky path I realized I would have struggled. Every single detail was was taken care of before we had the chance to ask. We highly recommend this tour service to anyone visiting the area and we personally can’t wait to go again!

Ariel and Fernando were our hosts for the day at the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. We ziplined, did white water tubing, rode horses, ate a wonderful lunch and relaxed at the end of the day in hot springs. Ariel and Fernando were consummate hosts -- making sure we were comfortable, happy and had everything we needed. They shared interesting history and knowledge of Costa Rica and of the Rincon National Park. They are warm, friendly, fun and engaging individuals who enriched the day beyond the Rincon day experience itself. We had a fantastic time on our tour. Ariel was really accommodating (stopping at a grocery store so I could buy coffee) and they always made sure our 2 kids were having fun. Our kids are only 6 and 8 but they loved all the activities the tour had!
