⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Phenomenal Experience! Incredible Safety & Seamless Customer Service (Esteban Rocks!)Our family of five—including three teenage girls—had an incredible, adrenaline-charged day with WAVE Rafting! Due to weather, our original route to Rio Balsa had to be changed to the Sarapiquí River. Our van guide Esteban and driver Eduardo handled this "Plan B" seamlessly, with immense grace and humor, making it feel like it was the plan all along.A few of us, including my 13-year-old, were initially quite intimidated by the rapids. However, our raft guide Gustavo took absolute, excellent care of us. Esteban was also out in the safety kayak, constantly checking in to make sure we felt secure. We felt completely safe and well cared for the entire time.To top it all off, we realized the next morning that we had left a bag in the transport van. We went to the WAVE offices, and Esteban had already recovered it and left it there safe and sound for us! We were so happy and surprised to get it back. WAVE Rafting is a top-notch company, and Esteban truly rocks. Highly recommend!

This was the highlight of our trip. Amazing day on the Balsa river. Conditions were amazing for rafting. It was a little bit of rainfall, but it made the experience that much better. We were picked up at our hotel in La Fortuna. Yor, our guide was clearly one of the masters of the river. Yor led us though class II-III rapids with expertise after a short safety lesson. Our group of four including teenage daughters had never done this before so we did not know what to expect. It turned out to be an amazing experience, challenging yet relaxing in a safe. Yor is a highly recommended guide. Try to get him. Pictures were awesome also. Must-do excursion.

Guides are amazing. We took our younger kids 13 and 12 and it was intense but we felt safe the entire time. I recommend water shoes and a waterproof bag with towel so you can dry off for the bus ride back to the launch site. You top half way and enjoy some fruit and a beer. It was amazing!

Diego was an excellent rafting guide and birder that seamlessly shifted between giving rowing instructions and pointing out birds, iguanas, and sloths - a great trip!

We had gone on a class 3/4 before and this one was awesome. They were funny and informative on the way there. Our boat guide Ruper was very good and our boat only had 4 rowers but we rocked on the river! It is scary to start but even some of the guests on the other boats that went into the water had fun. The break for fruit was good and the dinner at the end was excellent. I don’t swim and I recommend this to all!

We did yesterday the Rafting Tour - It was really exhilerating & lot‘s of fun!!! We had great safety instrutions and felt absolutely fine!! Great guides during the whole day! We are a Family with teenagers (15 and 17) , it was the Perfect Adventure for them (likewise for us)!! Great experience, absolutely recomendable!!!

Took part in the grade III-IV rafting on the Sarapiqui River. Fantastic experience for the whole family. Wave also offer a grade II-III trip on the same river but we opted for the higher grade trip as we have 2 thrill seeking teenagers and I feel that this was the correct choice. We had a group of 12 which meant for an intimate experience with little hanging around. Antonio, the guide was professional and instilled confidence and gave informative commentary as we descended through the jungle. After some brief instructions we were off. The leading boat capsized on the first rapid, which only added to the sense of adventure (fortunately all the crew were rescued). After some exhilarating fun we stopped for some fruit and a dip in the river. After drying off we were taken for the included lunch. Often on trips like this I have found the food to be a disappointment but not today. The rice, beans, salad and chicken were excellent…even met a sloth in the tree by the restaurant….Great day…thank you Wave Rafting

So much fun. Fox was an absolute superstar and made sure we had a wild ride!!! Marvin fought off a bunch of ninjas while we were on the River and kept my Red Bull safe on the bus. He’s a real Costa Rico hero.

Our white water adventure trip with Wave Expeditions was the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Brandon, and photographer, Jose, were amazing! The hour car ride was pleasant as our driver was great and Brandon talked to us about the area and things we were seeing along the drive. The rafting was fantastic! Not too hard but steady and adventurous! After rafting we had a great meal at a local place as well.

I had an amazing experience with Yude our White water guide! You made my experience very special! Lots of fun and I had to consume lots of Pina Colada’s after this adventure. Many thanks.

This was our second time rafting in Costa Rica and we had a fantastic time. We rafted the class IV and III rapids. Our guide, Justin, was excellent and did an outstanding job navigating us through some narrow areas. From the booking experience, to check-in, to the safety briefing, to our time on the water, we had nothing but a positive experience with everyone at Wave Rafting. We would absolutely recommend them.

We loved our rafting trip! The guides were very skilled and got the raft pointed in the right direction to avoid rocks and keep us going down the river. When we fell in they quickly brought over a kayak to get us back in the raft. They kept us very safe. The Sarapiquí was crystal clear and clean. The river was beautiful. After the trip they took us to a local restaurant with delicious food. I would highly recommend this trip with wave rafting.

Rafting with Wave was an absolute blast and the service was top notch! From our driver, Warner to our trainer/line guide, Brandon to our raft guide Jorge, we were big fans of everyone we had contact with. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip!

My wife, son and I had the pleasure of whitewater rafting with Wave Expeditions. We were picked up at our hotel by Oscar, our driver and Brandon (Tato) our guide. The ride to our starting point on the Sarapiqui river took about an hour. During the ride Tato taught us about Costa Rica in general, including eco-tourism in La Fortuna. He also went over safety instructions that we would need to know for our rafting trip. We enjoyed chatting with Oscar about New York City where we are from and where Oscar had lived. Upon arrival at our raft launching point, we were joined by Momo, who would be our in raft guide. Momo once again went over the safety and paddling instructions for our river trip. Here I have to mention that our 37 year old son is atypically autistic. I was overwhelmed by Momo’s patience in explaining everything to our son, making sure that my son understood everything. As we proceeded to paddle down river, I can only say the scenery and natural beauty of the river was breathtaking. The trip itself was exciting, and needless to say we were thoroughly soaked shooting the rapids. At points where the river was placid, we were encouraged to jump out and just float down river in our PFDs which my son loved. About halfway through the 12 kilometer trip we stopped for an excellent snack of fresh pineapple and watermelon. After arriving at our destination, we were greeted by Oscar with a choice of excellent Costa Rican beer or water. We then took a 5 minute ride to a local restaurant where we had an outstanding meal of the local cusine. After lunch we were back in the well equipped van for our ride home. I have to commend Momo, who really bonded with my son on the way down the river. My son speaks a little Spanish and never hesitates to use it. Momo not only encouraged my son to use his Spanish but also added to his vocabulary. My son and Momo spent as much time laughing with each other as they did paddling. The pictures that Tato took of our expedition will be treasured forever. Everyone associated with Wave Expeditions went above and beyond to make our rafting trip a special experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for any rafting trips you may take during your time in this area.

We had so much fun white water rafting for the first time as a family with our two teens. Georgie was the best guide who made the experience even better than we could have asked for! He even found us a sloth hanging in the trees! He was super knowledgeable and fun for my two teens! Thanks for a great time.

Class III-IV river rafting with Jorge (MOMO) as our guide. Absolutely amazing. Such a great experience. It has been our favorite so far. Picked us up at hotel at 7:30, after rafting, lunch, we were back at the hotel by 2:30. Couldn't have been any better. Fuimos con Jorge "Momo", el mejor guia. Nos ayudo y nos enseno muchisimo. No hay mejor.

The adventure was fabulous. Best white water rafting trip we have been on. Our guide guided us through the rapids expertly. We loved that there was very little just floating. After we finished they provided a great lunch too!

Incredible views and scenery. Saw tons of animals in the jungle. We had Momo and he was the best guide ever!

The guides were awesome! They were well prepared and ensured we had a great day on the river. The rafting was challenging yet not overwhelming especially for a first timer.

This was an excellent rafting trip for a family that hasn't done it before! We did the Class III-IV trip to the Sarapiqui with our 12 and 13 year old boys. There were no other kids on this trip, but it's definitely doable for 12+. There is a fair bit of paddling but your guide is likely doing all the work! We were in a boat of six plus guide - our guide Gerald was the best. He was a great conversationalist on the bus, clearly a people person who enjoys what he does. He was very enthusiastic on the river and we felt very safe with him. The ride from La Fortuna ended up taking close to two hours, as we were the first to be picked up (at Arenal Springs), and made several stops along the way, including one where the customers were quite late because they were finishing breakfast and getting coffees to go, with zero regard for the people in the bus. Gerald had to be firm with them after we waited for 15 minutes - tough for him to do but he did the right thing. The ride back from the falls only took about 1 hour and 15 minutes with all the drop offs. Lunch was a little disappointing, very little meat was given and it was very clear that only one serving of meat could be given. Fresh pineapple and watermelon was sliced up in the middle of the river and that was a very nice treat. Highly recommend this trip!

Gerald was our raft guide and he was the best ever! He made the trip adventurous and very fun! Highly recommend this trip!

My family (46, 43, 18 and 13) as well as my mom spent a day rafting the class III and IV rapids. It was such a fun and challenging experience. The lead of our group was Gerard and our raft lead was Jude. Both were so pleasant, knowledgeable and skilled. They shared information about the river and worked hard to keep us safe. My husband and I were thrown from the raft once at the same time and Jude moved incredibly rapidly to get us back into the raft and disinfect my scrapes. The pictures that were an additional charge were wonderful and well worth the $40 cost. I would certainly do this again if given the opportunity.

My husband and I did the white water rafting level 3/4 with Gerald in April. We had so much fun! In fact, it was our favorite activity while in Costa Rica! Gerald was AMAZING! He made me feel safe and made the whole day FUN! Thank you Gerald! Wave Rafting was our FAVORITE excursion while in Costa Rica! We would definitely recommend Wave Rafting and Gerald! We'd love to do it again! The water was nice, not cold at all. We can't say enough about the experience, the company and GERALD! A bonus is that they have a photographer the whole way to capture photos of your group, which are available to purchase at the end. We got over 100 pictures, which were all fantastic for a really reasonable price. Thank you for a great time and wonderful memories!!!

This was my first time ever white water rafting. The first set of rapids scared the crap out of me. However, with our amazing guide Yudd, it was one of the best times of my life. He had us laughing from the start and kept us safe. Us 4 chicas laughed and screamed with joy. Thank you Yudd, for the amazing experience.

On Feb 8 we had our guide call " Momo " who was a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, informative and attentive to make our experience unforgettable and awesome. We old 4 ladies had a blast. Recommend this experience to any body.

This was our best excursion in Costa Rica. Went on the 3/4 rapids with Daniel. SO MUCH FUN, and I'm a 70 year old great grandma!!!! They were very experienced and no one went out of the raft. I would recommend this to anyone going to Costa Rica!!

We had an excellent experience with Wave Rafting! It was our first time on class 3-4 rapids and I was nervous, not wanting to get injured on our honeymoon. Momo took great care of us and took safety very seriously, making sure every rafter understood commands and leveraging his 14 years of guide experience with this company to keep us safe thw wntire time all while keeping the mood fun and light! They created a great experience, highly recommend!

What a great experience! Not to be missed! Although the rapids looked pretty scary, it was the highlight of our Costa Rica trip. Our 14 yr old daughter was quite nervous, but Momo made sure she was laughing from the first minute until the last. Best guide!(he made sure we'd say this, we even practiced :D

My daughter and I have white water rafted several times together. I’m now 72 years old. Gerald showed patience and kindness to everyone on our raft. A couple of people were first timers and he moved people according to our skill level. Very safety conscious and kind. Highly recommend this company and ask for Gerald. We also laughed a lot!

The logistics were perfect , Gerald said pick you up 8.20 am and they did . The river was fast , exciting and dynamic , got totally soaked and really enjoyed the run , Gerald steering us into the waves ! Alonso beside us all the way demonstrating how easy it is to roll in the middle of the chaos . David behind the wheel patient but quick . Catalan demonstrating how easy it is to take a dip . Had a great tour with Gerald as our guide. Starting from the ride in the van, Gerald was personable, welcoming, and supportive. After a first splash, he adapted our course to meet our boat's needs. We've rafted in Colorado and California, and this felt safe, fun, and challenging. Definitely buy the photo package - they got some great action shots!

My husband and I had a great time with our guide Gerald and CO-guide Brandon (I think) on the saripique! The rapids were so awesome and we had a thrilling but also safe time. We enjoyed it so much we wish we could have gone twice! The lunch after was delicious too!

The guides were amazing, really fun but totally professional in controlling the raft. The rafting was exciting and the kids loved being able to jump in and float down the river for sections. Guides really informative during the drive and when we got to the farm for lunch, where the food was amazing. Highly recommend.

Fantastic day on the river. Jed was our guide. He made sure everyone had a great time. We were paired with a family from Mexico with their 2 daughters and we were all laughing and talking by the end of our trip. Jed kept us upright the whole time (can't say the same for other other boats!). The fruit mid-way through the trip was refreshing and the lunch afterwards was delicious. Highly recommend.

We had so much fun on this tour! Momo was our guide, and he was great! I highly recommend you request him. We were picked up from our hotel on time. We drove to the Sarapiqui River. We had so much fun. We never felt unsafe. Momo just made it really fun for us. They cut up fresh pineapple and watermelon in the middle of the rafting tour. It was so sweet and delicious! After we finished, we were given water, flavored iced teas, and beer. We then went to lunch at a restaurant that was pretty good. It was like a buffet except you only get one serving of the meat. We were back in less than 6 hours. What a fun day!! By the way, we actually negotiated a cheaper price with another company than booking with this one directly.

This was really fun and it’s one tour that is best after a hard rain or during a rain because the river is high and a lot of fun to raft. This is a great activities for teens that like intense experiences like roller coasters. Our guide, Gerald, was very friendly and made us feel comfortable, safe and welcome. During the sections with intense rapids, two or three guides in mini kayak type craft were alongside the raft ready to help anyone who fell out. It was our third and by far the best rafting experience we have had. We were told that we should go with this company for class 3-4 rapids to ensure we were safe because the guides are so well trained.

We spent the day with Wave staff who started by picking us up at our hotel in a comfortable, air conditioned bus. We drove to the Basa River where they open the dam in the morning which ensures an amazing rapid filled ride. Our guide made it fun for our children who are bigger risk takers than we are but kept us safe at all times! They fed us an amazing snack if fresh fruit on the river. We were able to change in decent facilities and then they bused us to a wonderful family organic farm for a delicious lunch followed by a short lecture on sugar cane. A great overall experience!
