We had an awesome scuba diving experience! Riski was an amazing guide and helped make it an unforgettable adventure. It was a highlight of our trip, and we would absolutely do it again. Highly recommend!

Itinerary
We offer daily tours of 2 dives, from Monday to Sunday. Our star destination for the diving tour are the Catalinas Islands and North Island, rock formations of volcanic origin, some 40 minutes away from the coast. The tour starts at 7.30 am in our dive center, located in Flamingo, where you will fill out the paperwork and the equipment will be tested. The tour will end around noon. The water temperature in the north coast of the Costa Rican Pacific ranges between 16-30ºC / 60-86ºF according to the time of year. Visibility can vary almost daily. The rocky bottom of our coasts is the perfect home for a wide variety of marine life, some species of which are seasonal in this area (giant manta rays or humpback whales). White tip sharks, different types of rays, moray eels, nudibranchs, angelfish, butterfly fish, as well as large schools of colorful tropical fish are often observed. Each of our dives usually lasts a maximum of 40 minutes at 18 meters depth (60 feet).

We found the staff to be very helpful and professional. They assisted the divers into their gear. Helped with any problems. Spoke great English. Took time to show us sea life. My partner hadn't dived in over twenty years, and they were very patient getting her comfortable in the water. I do recommend this shop. We have already booked another dive with them.
It was an amazing experience Siri was my dive guide and she was very professional, safety conscious, knowledgeable, and fun! We saw lots of cool wildlife and felt comfortable and had a great time. The rest of the staff were also lovely. I will definitely be back!
My son and I went diving and chose Pacific Coast Dive Center as our operator. We went on a busy Monday, and the vast majority of participants are snorkelers. I thought that this would be a bummer (first experience where snorkelers and divers were mixed) but it ended up being fine. They put the scuba divers in the water first at the reef, then move on to a different place for the snorkelers. The visibility was so-so, which I am led to believe was because of recent weather events. We saw some cool sea life. The staff was great, and our dive master - Risky - was amazing. So helpful, cool, and kind. Risky was a lot of fun. Remember to tip your guides!
We had an amazing experience diving at the Catalinas with Risky as our dive master. He is genuinely one of the best dive guides we have ever had. He was incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and always made us feel safe while making sure we got the most out of every dive. His ability to spot marine life and his enthusiasm for the ocean made the experience even more special. The dives were absolutely incredible, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. We highly recommend diving with Risky and can’t wait to come back!
I can't recommend Pacific Coast Divers enough - 10 stars!!! We joined their full day trip to Bat Islands on July 4, leaving Playa Flamingo at 5:00 a.m. and returning around 7:00 p.m., and it was one of the most memorable dive days we've had. The boat ride over was rough, and conditions at the dive site were definitely challenging, which made the day feel even more like an adventure. Throughout it all, the crew's professionalism stood out - safety was always their top priority, and they did an incredible job making everyone feel comfortable and confident, both on the boat and in the water. Their boat is comfortable, even in rough seas, and even has a toilet onboard which is a huge bonus and rare among dive boats in the area. Those little comforts make a big difference on a 14 hour day! Service was outstanding from start to finish. The crew handled all of our gear, setting everything up before each dive so we could simply relax and enjoy the ride. Breakfast was cooked fresh onboard while we made our way to the islands - it was absolutely delicious. The diving itself was spectacular. There was so much marine life that it truly felt like diving in an aquarium. We saw plenty of bull sharks along with countless fish and other sea life. Despite the challenging conditions, the dive guides did an excellent job keeping the group together and making everyone feel safe underwater and getting back onboard the boat. Lunch was prepared a fresh onboard as well and was fantastic, and they even went above and beyond to prepare a delicious vegan meal for me, which I really appreciated! The third dive was every bit as enjoyable, and after that it was time for the three hour journey back to Playa Flamingo. The ride home turned into the perfect ending to the day. There were snacks, cold beers, music, plenty of conversation, and time to simply relax while everyone shared stories from the dives. To top it all off, we were treated to an incredible sunset that seemed to last for most of the ride back! Bat Islands is an amazing dive site in its own right, but what truly made this trip exceptional was the Pacific Coast Divers team!! Their attention to detail, incredible hospitality, unwavering focus on safety, and genuinely positive energy transformed an already great dive trip into an unforgettable experience. They are the absolute best crew around!
I had an incredible time diving with this center. My instructor, Fernando, explained everything perfectly and made sure we were well taken care of throughout. I felt completely safe and worry-free the entire time — which let me fully enjoy the dive. We saw an amazing variety of marine life: different species of rays, white tip sharks, a turtle, moray eels, octopus etc. Unforgetable. I highly recommend this center to anyone looking for a safe and well-organized diving experience.
I had the best dive I have ever had with PCD! I had Risky as the guide and he is very passionate about his work and ensures you can see as many “beasties” (as he calls them) as possible. We saw 3 white tip reef sharks, 2 hawksbill turtles, a moray eel, an octopus, a longtail stingray and much, much more. I felt completely safe during the dive and will definitely be booking again.
Great dive team! Very knowledgeable and attentive. They helped us at the gear and cared to make sure we got the most out of the dives. Weather was challenging on this particular day but the team worked hard for us to get the best experience we could. Highly recommend diving with this group.
Siri is a great professional! We had a great time! We felt very safe with her. She also took many photos and videos of us during the dives.
Great experience. I took this tour with my son who had a ton of recent diving experience and my experience was significantly less. The staff at Pacific were able to plan dives that were fun and interesting for both of our skill levels. Would do this again in a heartbeat
Absolutely amazing scuba trip!! We had the best time and saw so many amazing things including sharks, octopi, and rays! Our guide Risky was fantastic and so much fun, we loved his enthusiasm for everything under the water, and he helped catch us up to speed since it had been awhile since our last dive. We felt safe the whole time with plenty of room to enjoy the amazing sights at the reef. (And the photos are worth adding on, Risky is a great underwater photographer! Everything was well-managed and the whole team was super friendly. Incredible experience, we can’t wait to come back!!
Great experience with Pacific Coast Divers! Our instructor, Billy, was both knowledgeable and fun! Saw a ton of amazing wildlife!! Had a nice big boat, better for anyone who gets sea sick. Every type of tour is on the same boat, which is great for couples and groups of friends who want to be together but do different things (half of our group did snorkeling while we did diving!) Had an amazing day!!
Generally, this was an amazing trip. My daughter did her first two discovery dives and my husband and I (both certified) saw things we’ve never seen before! (Shout out to devil rays soaring overhead and the gorgeous zebra eel). And we got some awesome photos of our dives!! I deducted one star for two reasons - the amount of snorkelers and divers in our tour was a bit overwhelming and our second dive stalled when two divers from a different dive group got separated from their groups and our dive master assisted them - which was the correct thing but just a bummer because our group was forced to swim in a hold for around 10 minutes. But, I would absolutely dive with them again. They were professional, kind and fun.
What an incredible day of diving in Costa Rica! We saw 3 types of rays, white tip reef sharks, octopus, and tons more. The dive boat was very well maintained and the staff was helpful and friendly. Risky was my dive leader and he was excellent. We went to 2 locations (South Catalina, Sombrero). I also elected the pickup option at my hotel in Tamarindo which worked perfectly - driver was on time and very friendly. I would highly recommend this dive shop and crew!
Had an exceptional time diving today with Sandra at Pacific Coast Dive Center. Highly recommend. No issues or problems. Easy to book excursion. I had some questions beforehand and the team responded to my email inquiries in a timely manner. The Center picked me up and arrived at dive center for check-in. Sandra was very helpful and got me fitted with equipment. The boat was well maintained and staff was helpful. There was a focus on safety while making it fun. We dove the Catalinas and Sombrero. Saw everything I wanted to see - many manta rays and white tip sharks. Lots of starfish and other aquatic life. The dive team pointed out what we say and answered questions about the area. Between dives fresh fruit was served along with plenty of water. Overall, I had an excellent time and will be booking again next year when I come back to Playa Flamingo.
It had been a few years since we have been diving and Sammy made the whole experience wonderful. The instruction and assistance was the best. The professionalism and friendliness of all the staff was really great.
Was exactly what one would expect from a 5 star Padi facility
We had a great experience diving with Pacific Coast Divers! We have been diving with Pacific Coast Divers for over 10 years. This trip we dove two days and had Risky as our dive master both days. He was excellent (the name is ironic!!). He was able to point out all kinds of wild life and led a great and safe dive. We saw eels, white tip reef sharks, pufferfish, rays, huge schools of fish, and so much more! I would highly recommend diving with Pacific Coast Divers.
Great experience scuba diving at the Catalina Islands (Catalina South, Classico and Brummel). I did four dives over two days. Sandra was the dive guide the first day and Sammy the second day. Both were careful and professional dive guides who also happen to speak excellent English. They pointed out a lot of the wildlife to ensure we didn’t miss anything on the dive. We saw white-tipped reef sharks, eels, stingrays, a guitar fish, and many different schools of fish. Also, while on the boat on the way to the islands we spotted humpback whales breaching off in the distance. The boat captain stopped the engine (so as not to scare off the whales) and we were able to see the whales blow water in the air and see their tails when they dove again. Amazing and unexpected! Note: we saw no whales while actually in the water — only from the boat.
We felt this dive company was a truly quality operation with a strong focus on safety from start to finish. The boat was large and comfortable, easily accommodating a big group without ever feeling crowded. All of the equipment was seemed new and high quality. Dive Master Billy was especially attentive—he noticed right away when I needed a little extra help and stepped in immediately, which made a big difference and was greatly appreciated. As an added bonus, this is the first dive company we’ve ever experienced that removes your fins for you before you climb the ladder. That moment at the end of a dive can be challenging, and this thoughtful service made it so much easier and safer. I would highly recommend this dive company.
Amazing guides. We were 4 certified divers plus 6 discovery dives and 6 snorkelers. I felt very safe during our dives. Our guide Risky was awesome. Boat crew was very safe and back office logistics were so easy to navigate. My elderly father was taken care of. Do this for the great dives and snorkeling and safe knowledgeable crew. Don't do for a luxury boat experience. Would highly recommend!
The staff was the best! Everything is taken care of for you. I have been diving with pacific coast for years now and it is the best I’ve seen in all of Costa Rica! All expectations are always met, everything you need is provided, the boat is amazing. The staff protect and take such good care of their divers! Highly recommend!
Very professionally run. Great staff in the office, on the boat, and underwater (with thanks to Ian.) Good equipment. On schedule. Good boat with adequate shade and dry space. Just a five minute drive from the office check-in to Playa Protrero, where a little tender takes divers/snorkelers out to the boat, which anchors about 50 metres from the beach. Nice warm water (81F/27C). Visibility is limited, but great variety of fish to spot up-close. Numerous black-tipped sharks, which can be approached within a few metres. I have done over 250 dives and will choose this company again in February.
My husband and I went with Pacific Coast for our diving experience in Costa Rica. An excellent company to dive with! Very organized from the minute we arrived. They suited us up with all our gear and wet suits at their shop (near the marina) and in no time we were in the van to head to the boat at the Marina. The boat took out 10 divers and 15 snorkellers. The boat was fabulous and everyone sat comfy on the top floor of the boat while the instructors prepared our tanks and gear on the ride out to the Catalina Islands. We did two dives. Even with 8m visibility we saw soooo much- lots of blow fish, a couple white tip sharks, an octopus, eels, devils rays and many schools of fish! While we dove we heard two whales communicating under water- soooo amazing! Great snacks (pineapple and watermelon and cookies) and water and ice tea to drink between dives. Instructors were fabulous and took care of everyone well- from new divers to seasoned divers! Amazing care! Upon finishing the dives our rides were prepared and at shore! Very nice! Thanks for the fabulous day!! Pura Vida!!!
Crew is amazing, boat is wonderful! We love pacific coast dive center and will be back to dive and snorkeling again soon!!!
Such an amazing crew here. Everyone was super friendly and great to dive with. Risky is such a positive person and a great dive instructor! He made sure we saw as much sea life as possible including white tip sharks, starfish, eels, and so much more. I would definitely go again and highly recommend anyone looking for a group to dive with! Pura vida
I dove with Risky and had an amazing time. From the boat we saw whales, dolphins, and sea turtles, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Risky did an excellent job as a dive leader - he prioritized safety, and was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the wildlife. He also took some great pictures! Overall I highly recommend it for divers of any level.
5 stars across the board. These guys are the absolute best! Theybare very organized and easy to book with, everyone on the staff is very friendly and inviting, the boat ride is fun, the dive instructors are knowledgeable, fun, and safe, and the boat crew is topnotch as well. I highly recommend diving (or snorkeling) with them!
Great dive experience with Pacific Coast Dive! First time in country, booked thru website to check out the Costa Rican dive scene. Wow, am I glad I did! Andreas and his team did a superb job, ranging from setting up equipment, explaining the dive sites and leading fabulous dives underwater (with photos!). Can’t wait to dive with them next trip, thanks again Andy!
The whole experience was excellent, very friendly and helpful staff. Who helped us out with all our equipment, which was reassuring as we hadn’t been Scuba Diving in around a year.
Exceptional experience with Pacific Coast Dive Center. My son (16) & I did a two tank dive with Billy. Dive boat was primarily filled with snorkellers and we were very fortunate to have the dive instructor all to ourselves. Billy made sure to point out all the marine life. We saw spotted eagle rays, white tip reef sharks, sea turtles, eels, and plenty of tropical fish. My son & I had a fantastic experience and will definitely return for more dives.
We had a great time and saw a great deal of fish, eel, white tip sharks, and a Manta Ray. The water was super clear and Risky, our dive master was fantastic. He was very helpful with this being my second dive in making sure that we were all safe and had a great dive. He is great about making sure that you get to see all that can be seen during your dive and make sure to point out the things that you would typically miss if you did not know where they were. The schools of fish were incredible and he also made sure that you looked up as you are so focused on what is below you, you can miss many things swimming above you. The Manta Ray was one of those that swam over us and he pointed it out so that we were given the chance to see the magnificent animal. The white tip sharks were pregnant and sitting on bottom and were majestic. I would give this dive five stars as it is for any experience level and there is a lot to see. You felt like you were swimming in an aquarium with all the fish around you.
Refused to refund my cash deposit despite giving plenty of notice. Had a dive injury the day before from a separate dive (No ones fault, just a ruptured ear drum ) They refused to refund our large cash deposit and its not about the money, but more the integrity or dishonesty that seems wildly uncomfortable. Yall can't run a business this way and get away with it.
We went out yesterday for a 2 tank dive. We were a group of 4 certified divers and 1 Discover Scuba diver. Our Dive Master Risky was excellent! We had a second DM Aurelia because we were a group of 4 plus 1 DSD. They were both great. Every time I looked around Aurelia was always behind us and just above. The “surge” was new to us but very cool. Risky was finding and pointing out fish and stuff to look at. Our second dive was in a more secluded spot. We even got to see a few reef sharks (1 pregnant) at the end.
We booked a refresher course for myself (been diving since 1993 but not dives since 2015) and a Discover diving course for my 19 year old daughter who has never had SCUBA equipment on before. From the course to the two tank dives we had a great experienced with the Dive Masters and the entire team!! William (Bill) was our Dive Master for our courses and group. Thanks for the great experience and we will see you Monday for more dives
I had a great dive trip including two dives in April 2025. Our dive master, Risky, was very safe, listened, helpful, and even took excellent pictures for our group. We were lucky with warm temperature water, visibility, saw a manta ray (even though those are typically seen most frequently in February and March), many moray eels, fish, whitetip reef sharks, common octopus, and more. The boat was comfortable and all of the staff helped everyone. Thank you, Risky, for an amazing day!
Very professional and fun group of instructors, dive masters and boat crew. Great instruction and organization from the very beginning. Very safe and informative. Helped with all the gear and catered to all levels of experience. Saw Manta rays, moray eels, a seahorse, small white tip reef sharks and numerous other fish! Nice boat with snacks and drinks! Highly recommend for all levels of divers.
Going to Costa Rica, we wanted to include a dive. Since it had been a while since our last dive, we picked PCDC as they had a quick refresher course. The staff was excellent in going through the basics again before our open water dive. Our guide was Risky(yes the name not his behavior)🤣😜. He excelled at making sure we optimized our time under water by pointing out all the amazing Marine life. We would highly recommend this dive center if visiting the Tamarindo area of CR.
We had an amazing time ! Billy was so helpful and we saw so many different fish, sharks, octopus, eels, and even seahorses ! Would highly recommend! They are very proffesional and kind and they have all the gear you need!
First red flag: from the dive center, we had to drive our own vehicle to the beach (following a van full of others) and then got accosted by "security" for a tip. But to the dive itself, there was a high intensity, militant atmosphere on the boat...which had about 30-40 guests on it...some snorkelers, some divers. When they set up the equipment they didn't give either me or my partner weights on the weight belt or in the BCD, then they snapped at my partner for "holding everyone up" while she finished getting her gear on after we pointed out the problem. She's young and has over 60 dives.....I'm new but have 20+ dives over 5 months in now 4 countries. We (and another diving couple) got told about 3 or 4 different times "this is how it's done" (long hair MUST be tied, for example.....and heaven forbid you put your mask on your forehead for a second while still on the boat....that's NOT "how it's done!") as if we were idiots when in fact, "that" is not "how it's done" based on all of the experience we've all had on other dives. PCDC wanted certain things done THEIR way about idiosyncratic minutiae without any perspective that maybe THEY were the weird ones for even bringing it up. It just created a tense, impersonal, assembly-line-of-schoolchildren atmosphere that is not what I've experienced or want in a dive. To be fair, maybe this is common in Costa Rica as we later avoided a dive company in another town that gave off the same vibes. If that level of hyper-vigilant militance is for you.......enjoy your dive with PCDC.
Pacific Coast Dive Center is the best outfit I have dived with. Great people and great service. The guides are very knowledgeable and the boat is very clean.
The tour guides were very good at making sure to keep us safe. They did a really good job at keeping everyone happy making for a great trip!
My teenage son, his friend, and I had a wonderful time diving with Pacific Coast! I had not gone diving for many years, so I did their brief refresher course in the pool before setting out for the regular dive. The instructor, Emi, did a fantastic job of making me feel comfortable with the equipment and refreshing my skills. The open water guide, Risky, also took it slow for me and gave me the confidence to get back in. The diving conditions were not optimal, but we still saw lots of cool stuff, including sharks, rays, eels, and a million beautiful fish. I was nervous to go diving again, but after the experience with Pacific Coast, I am eager to get back in the water!
5 minutes into the first dive we were in close on a giant manta ray! Absolutely awesome! We ended up having 6 sightings during that dive, all fairly close. In addition to an eagle ray, 3 other rays, multiple sharks, starfish, and thousands of other fish. Fantastic staff and a great operation top to bottom. “Risky”was our guide and he was really great, fun and super knowledgeable. Both of my sons were fairly inexperienced divers and we got to experience the dive of a lifetime together!
Can't say enough good things about these guys. The whole crew is way cool. They answered my messages and got me booked after hours the night before. The diving was amazing. Great experience from start to finish.
I have been diving for many years in many countries and I would rate this dive up there with the best of them, a massive shout out to Angie, her professional attitude towards safety and her knowledge were such an added bonus as I hadn’t been diving for about 5 years and needed a little refresher which I am so glad I did. The sea life and water clarity were amazing, from sharks, Manta Rays, fish, turtles, octopus, the trip was epic and to top it all off… we heard whales and dolphins under the water!!, definitely a first for me. The entire crew were professional, helpful, and most of all, happy!, I loved every minute of it and the memories of the whole trip will always hold a special place in my heart. Oh and the weather was amazing, 4th March 2025. Tim Bartlett
Enthusiastic and experienced dive team that deliver a safe experience. I did two visits during my month in Flamingo and enjoyed both visits greatly. Great dives in the Catalinas with a great variety of species including white tip sharks, massive manta rays, eels, and even humpback whale singing. Emma and Angie both did a wonderful job of leading our groups. You can tell this group genuinely loves their jobs and each other. Highly Recommend!
This dive charter was AMAZING. Super well organized and efficient. I did 8 dives in total with a variety of dive leads, so I won't mention anyone specific, but they were all amazing. Saw Manta rays in 7 of the 8 dives, and an abundance of other things. Can't say enough good things about this place.
It was a great experience, saw many different species! We got super lucky with Manta Rays. All staff were great, our instructor Ivan was fantastic.
