Sloths In Their Natural Habitat & Blue River Waterfall

Rated 1 out of 5 stars Updated 4 minutes ago Verified Extremely Disappointing/Misleading Guide spent all of the tour time chasing Jaguars and Giant Anteaters. Expedition was advertised as an opportunity to enjoy/see/experience the animal/bird/plant diversity of the World's Largest Wetlands. Guide did not take time for guests to see/photograph the many different birds, animals, plants. Instead, spent three days running up and down the river looking for Jaguars. Then spent the final three days driving up and down the same bumpy dirt roads looking for Giant Anteaters. When guide was asked if we could spend some time looking for other animals/birds/plants Guide snapped back and said "Look at your itinerary. We are looking for Giant Anteaters." (Looking at itinerary there is no mention of Giant Anteaters). Guide then said "You don't have to like me! You should have booked a private guide so YOU could see what YOU wanted to see WHEN YOU wanted to see it!!!" Needless to say - I was speechless! (I am glad to forward a copy of the "Itinerary" and you can see for yourself how Nat Habitat advertises expedition. Finally, when Guide was asked if she had ever seen Giant Anteaters eating at a termite nest, Guide said "No." When asked if she knew how termites constructed the many giant termite nests throughout the Pantanel Guide responded, "I don't know." End of Conversation!!! Postscript: Thank you Nat Hab for the BOILERPLATE Acknowledgement and Pseudo-Apology. Please note this is THE SAME APOLOGY WORD-FOR-WORD that you offered my wife after her review several weeks. Your lack of personal/individual attention to your guest/clients is obvious - from this BOILERPLATE apology to your guide's herd-mentality in conducting an underwhelming exploration of the Pantanel. Your promise of hikes were actually only short walks on the Eco Lodges. As Nat Hab's Guide said - "You should hire a Private Guide so YOU can see what YOU want when YOU want it." That would be money well-spent! John was our driver/guide. Was fantastic! We stopped at a waterfall to swum then onto Blue River Waterfall. Was a hike but we'll worth it! Was breathtaking! Then onto lunch which great as well. Then onto a sloth park. Had Carlos as our guide, he took beautiful pics with our cameras. It was a long day but John picked us up at our rental and dropped back home! Super day!

Juan Carlos and Jose were excellent guides and ambassadors of Costa Rica and its rainforests. Juan Carlos was more excited to see the animals and plants then any other guide I have used in the past. Truly infectious attitude.

This was this excursion that our group of 11 friends had been anticipating and Manual and Juan Carlos did not disappoint. Manual’s driving was excellent and we felt very safe during the long drive. Juan Carlos (JC) was fabulous - providing lots of general information about Costa Rica from the get-go. The walks to the waterfalls were accurately described with respect to required physical effort and a couple of our group opted to stay with the bus for the Tenorio Volcano NP portion. JC was very solicitous- constantly checking that the slower walkers were ok and taking group photos. Lunch was delicious and accommodated vegetarians and vegans. The restaurant had a butterfly enclosure and JC demonstrated his butterfly-whisperer skills! We got some lovely photos. The sloth sanctuary was the highlight and the guides found a couple of sloths for us to admire and photograph. We also saw some beautiful frogs and the guides took some expert photos for us. I can highly recommend this tour especially if you’re lucky enough to have JC as your guide.

We booked a private tour through Showtime and were lucky enough to have Sosa as our tour guide. He was a friendly and wonderful companion to our group of four adults and four children (ages 7,7,8, and 9). He made sure we were comfortable and stopped whenever necessary to accommodate the needs of our group. He also made suggestions along the way (like stopping at a bakery - yum!). We started our day with a short hike to a beautiful waterfall. Next, we proceeded to a rainforest tour where Sosa set us up with a very knowledgeable guide who helped us spot sloths, frogs, and birds. As the day progressed, it became rainy in the area we were in. Sosa advised us that our original plans probably weren't the best options with the current weather, and he advised us on alternative excursions. While we were touring the rainforest, Sosa went out of his way making phone calls and other arrangements for us so that when we were finished, we could seamlessly move on to the next activity. He was able to get us to another area where we were able to river tube (MY FAVORITE THING THAT WE DID IN COSTA RICA) and checkout hot springs. Despite spending many hours with us, he was still willing to take us to a souvenir shop on the way home. One of the perks of booking a private tour is that you have more flexibility for your group, but Sosa went out of his way to make sure that we had THE perfect day. Thank you Sosa for our favorite tour in Costa Rica!!!

Estebon was fantastic! Great guide and very personable. The waterfalls were spectacular! We were able to see 5 sloths, a vibrant frog, tucan and several other interesting creatures. The traditional Costa Rican that they provided for lunch was amazing! They even had a little butterfly garden to tour while we waited for our food. Would definitely recommend this excursion with this particular guide.

This was such an amazing day I got to spend with my friends. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and we had the best tour guide Estevan! If there’s one thing you should do in Costa Rica its this tour! Loved we got picked up and dropped off at the hotel and had the entire van to ourselves. The lunch was fantastic. A couple of tips: bring towels, extra pair of shoes and clothes ( best time to change is at the last stop as you’ll be done swimming). Don’t forget BUG SPRAY! Prepare for a decent workout on the hike it’s about a 2.5 mile hike and LOTS of stairs when going back up. Worth it but it can be challenging for people. Lastly bring water! Our tour guide was so fantastic he stopped 2 times for us to stock up on water and snacks (you do spend a good chuck driving) but he also had an ice chest of water for us. Overall this tour is great and worth the price ! Thank You Estevan for such an amazing day!!!!

This tour is absolutely AMAZING!!! Our guide, Estabon, was so informative and accommodating for my family and I the whole trip. Best day of our vacation by far. 10/10 recommend!

My family and I (7 of us) had the BEST day with Esteban, our tour guide. He was early picking us up and overly accommodating. He made us all feel like family. He was so personable!!! His personality and knowledge truly made the whole experience. The van was roomy and cool so we were more than comfortable on our tour. This is the ONLY tour company I will use when returning to Tamarindo. Five stars!!!

This trip was AMAZING! Our tour guide, Esteban, was exceptional!! We would tour with him again, anywhere, anytime! I can’t recommend him and this excursion enough!

Absolutely AWESOME!!! Greatly exceeded our expectations! Our Guide, Estaban(I called him Enrique😂and he kindly went along with it) was perfect - Engaging, informative, fun, patient and kind - he really went above and beyond ( made sure we were prepared and took extra time to buy us fresh mangoes and take us to the pharmacy as well) Breathtaking waterfalls, some to view and some we got to jump off cliff into! We saw a baby sloth up close - so amazing! Saw spectacular frogs, birds, snakes, hummingbirds, butterflies, cicadas, cacao and coffee trees, papaya, mangoe, lime, and banana trees. Trip of a lifetime....highly recommend 👍🌴😎

Highly recommend. My family and I recently went on a tour with Sosa. You could say I went to Costa Rica primarily for the sloths. I was crying when Sosa found one I could barely see far up in a tree with the use of binoculars and a strategic squinting technique. Sosa didn’t give up, he found another more visible in a tree that wasn’t as high. He stood me in front of the tree with my back to it so id search for nothing and I’d be surprised when I turned around. No binoculars or squinting needed- surprised indeed. I saw my sloth. Of course I kept crying. Best experience.

Our guide, Sosa was amazing from the start! Got to quickly know our family & what our expectations were for the trip. He stopped along the way to give us the opportunity to photograph monkeys & birds native to the area. He gave my daughters the experience of a life time in spotting many sloths hidden in the trees and even one crossing the highway! He was patient & kind, answering all of our questions! Highly recommend this trip.

Abraham was an excellent guide for our tour. He gave us lots of information about the ecosystems in Costa Rica. He went out of his way to be sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hikes and the sloth tour. Seeing the sloths, birds, poison dart frogs, etc in the wild was awesome! Lunch was good. Be warned this tour is a long day. Shout out to Willy for being an awesome driver among the crazy drivers in CR!

We had a very nice time on our tour with Alex! Before we even arrived at our destination he pulled the van over several times to show us monkeys and sloths while we were on our drive. We had a really nice day and saw so many animals!

Our guide Souza was awesome and the waterfalls and wildlife was amazing. Souza make an effort to make sure we were able to view sloths, colorful frogs, snakes and monkeys

Phenomenal! Marvin and his team were absolutely fabulous. We spent the entire day with them and they gave us an amazing experience. Sloths, waterfall hike, water tubing, lunch. We were able to book the private tours with our group of 11. They went above and beyond. Each adventure was very private and personalized rather then being with 50 other tourists. When we return they will be our first call for adventures.

Marvin and Showtime Tamarindo helped us make Costa Rica a wonderful relaxed adventure. Showtime Tamarindo helped us with taxi rides, grocery stores and several amazing unique adventures. Highly recommend this friendly trustworthy tour company!

Trip was very enjoyable. My family and I love animals and we saw many and were able to pet some which was even better. Our tour guide Pato was extremely knowledgeable and funny.

We traveled by Natives Way for two of our excursions. Our tour guide was awesome and catering. It's difficult to see the sloths because they're so quiet, but still worth the trip! The Rio Celeste waterfall was my all-time favorite. It's a tough hike back up the stairs and exhausting, but if I had to, I'd do it all over again. It was worth the sight for me.

We had a terrific day yesterday with Osman. Our group which included two our teenage girls and our six-year-old boy, got to visit a coffee plantation, sloth sanctuary, and the national volcano park where we hiked to an incredible waterfall. We had a delicious local lunch, and they took great care of us picking us up and dropping us off at our hotel And making sure we had time for bathroom breaks drinks, everything we needed for a comfortable and and very enjoyable day. We would highly recommend it it was a lovely day.

We recently went on this excursion, and loved the guides, driver, and organizer so much we booked an additional full-day adventure day) excursion AND used them for airport transportation. TOP NOTCH! Marvin and his team were incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. David and Abraham went above and beyond to make sure the kids found sloths, and other exotic wildlife. No doubt, we will book them again, when we return to Costa Rica. We felt like we made friends with them. 10/10

Sosa was the most amazing guide for us!!! We got to see so many sloths, tree frogs, vipers, and more!!! Everyone wanted us to see the animals so they all helped us get the best experience when finding them! The hiking trail was beautiful and we then got an amazing Costa Rican lunch! After we went to a swimming area which was beautiful! Sosa made this the best day for me and my family! His 20 years of experience paid off!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Incredible trip!! Marvin was very helpful throughout the entire booking process and made sure we had everything we needed for the trip. He was also a great guide and was very knowledgeable. We did a jungle hike that led to the blue river which was incredible. Our guide was able to spot many different animals along the hike as well. Marvin then took us to the tree of peace, which is by far the largest tree I have ever seen, and another stop to the blue river where we were able to swim! We got some delicious authentic Costa Rican lunch and made our way to the sloth sanctuary. Our guide for this tour was also very knowledgeable and was able to point out so many animals for us (tucans, monkeys, different species of frogs, insects, flowers, and of course sloths). We were able to get close to so many of them! It was an unforgettable experience and I would 100% recommend going on this trip or any others run by Showtime Tamarindo!

Unbelievable excursion with Marvin!!!! Our guide for the hike was extremely informative and pointed out many animals in the rain forest. Marvin made 2 additional stops to show us one of the largest trees in Latin America and let us swim in the blue river. He was friendly and provided us with a ton of information regarding Costa Rica, often pointing out various landmarks. Lunch was delicious - a true Costa Rican meal! Finally, we got to see many sloths in the sanctuary and we were able to get so close! HIGHLY recommend Marvin and Showtime Tamarindo while you are in Costa Rica. Truly a can’t miss experience.

Everything was very well organised and our guide, Jose, was a character. He had a mound of knowledge about his country and the trip environment and kept us amused on the long drive with stories and chat.

I have had the most amazing two days with Jose Rivas. It was full of many surprises. Jose is so knowledgeable when it comes to the landscape and sites to see in Costa Rica. He was so very humble and kind and one of the most amazing people that I have met. These two days I will never forget. Thank you Jose for being an amazing human!

WOW WHAT A DAY. JOSE our guide was incredible he educated us all things Costa Rica in such a wonderful way, an experience everyone should come and see. From the waterfall to the national park and the sloth experience we could not have asked for a better guide to share his country with. A must do and see for anyone coming to Costa Rica

We were so excited to go on this excursion, and it was even better than we hoped! From the beginning planning stages, Marvin was fantastic to work with. There was 25 in our group, and he answered all my many questions quickly and patiently! He was there on the morning of our excursion and personally introduced me to our tour guides, who were beyond fantastic! They were instant friends and looked our for each member of our group from grandma to toddler. They were very knowledgable and taught us so much about Costa Rica. The Blue River Waterfall was exquisite, the lunch was divine, and the sloth preserve was the highlight of our whole trip. When we plan our next trip to Costa Rica, Marvin will be my first phone call! 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend!
