Sloths In The Rain Forest And Safari By The River (Private Tour)

This is a great experience for animals watching. The local guide Hanni was very knowledge, and sweet. The views on the way is a good way to explore the country

Marlene was an excellent guide. She explained about Costa Rican history and geography during our drives. She got us everywhere in time and safely and took us to a mini market for some souvenirs for our kids. She spoke English and Spanish. We floated on a river for an hour, had lunch, and visited a nature reserve to see sloths.

It was a great day starting with the rafting trip during which we saw crocodiles, a variety of monkeys and other wildlife. The guide was knowledgeable and fun. Lunch was tasty . The afternoon hike was very enjoyable. We saw monkeys , sloths , a red eyed tree frog and other wildlife. The guide for the hike was friendly and enthusiastic.

Both the river ride and the rain forest tours were excellent the guides were very competent and friendly. From Tamorindo it is a long drive and expensive to take shuttle or uber

We had a great experience with the Travel Agency CR on our rain forest tour and the safari by the river. It was a small group tour. The communication was excellent. The driver arrived promplty to pick us up. The tour guides were great and every informative. We saw a lot of birds and animals. The lunch was excellent. We had a great time.

Great tour which included a river raft safari and a hike through the rain forest. Marlene was an excellent driver and guide. Friendly and informative. Anthony our guide on the water was awesome. Did a great job of spotting wildlife and steering the boat over to get a better view. We were able to see a ton of wildlife including monkeys, coatis, crocodiles, an eagle, multiple species of birds, and bats. Our rain forest hike was excellent as well ( forgot our guides name). We saw sloths up close along with monkeys and many birds/snakes. Very enjoyable!

We had an amazing day! With the river tour and the rainforest, it was a day filled with animals and beautiful nature. Plus it was just my husband and me plus one guide so it felt very private. Maryann, Jose and Jessie were awesome tour guides and they spoke English great for us!

This was a very fun trip! We were able to see a lot of different animals, reptiles and birds. Lunch was a delicious Costa Rican style meal. Marlene is an excellent guide. She is very knowledgeable and fun to be with. I highly recommend this adventure!

A wonderful experience with Marlene. Our family of 6 (ages 7yo-76yo) all had an amazing time. We were able to set our own pace and make a stop for supplies on the way back to our hotel.

This was overall so much fun! Our tour guide Juan was amazing! He really put such a great effort to ensure we had a great experience. He was very knowledgable and was engaging with my teens. They really liked him as well. The hike was great and saw many sloths up close. The lunch was ok. The river was beautiful, calm and saw bats and iguanas. Highly recommend it and having Juan was a bonus. 😊

As soon as we booked, we received a personal confirmation. And because we were located out of their pick up zone, they reached out right away to confirm pick up and pricing. Really great communication, transparency and reasonable pricing! Unfortunately due to our own personal circumstances, we weren't able to go on this tour, but when we return to Costa Rica, we would definitely go through them.

The river rafting was a fun way to see the wildlife that everyone could enjoy. The guides were great at spotting the animals. We were able to see sloths up close. It was amazing.

Had a great experience. Drive a little long but worth it. Marlene very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the area, economy and wildlife in the area. We got to see a baby sloth! It was amazing! Highly recommend!

1) not worth $660 for a family of 4 2) the “Natural reserve in rain forest….” is ACTUALLY someone’s private property 3) 45 min walk (not 2 hours as advertised). 4) 1 hour raft boat ride (not motor) does not allow to get closer to any sightings as the river controls the raft 5) Lunch is NOT buffet style like other excursions (remember $165/person!) 6) 11 hour excursion for 3 hour activity (pick up 715am; drop off 6pm). This should be advertised! 7) Marlene (tour lady) & Orlando (driver) are great.

Our driver/guide Marlene was Amazing and knows so much about the animals, the country and we saw animals on our way and stopped! So great! Marco our boat guide taught us about wild cinnamon and wild garlic and showed us crocodiles and many birds. Lastly Samuel got us 3 sloths (one was a baby) and frogs and snakes! Both of them were also informative and cared about our safety and enjoyment! Great tour!!

Bring water shoes & bug spray the whole experience was incredible marlene you were the most amazing human being to us so knowledgeable, friendly, hardworking we loved every second of our excursions with her as our guide truly incredible!!!!

We enjoyed the raft trip very much. The lunch was excellent. The "rain forest" was not especially rainy, but it was a very easy way to see the main attractions: sloths, ttee snakes, tree frogs. Stop at the tourist trap on the way back was less than necessary, but OK. Marlene was an outstanding guide!

This was one of our best tour experiences. We had Marlene as our driver. We had her all to ourselves. She was able to add on a coffee/chocolate tour for us at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend doing that thru her not thru the tour company. We saw every animal promised. Do not hesitate to book this tour!!!!

Our family had an awesome experience with Marlene Rivas from Clamatour. The Sloths in the Jungle / River Safari day trip was full of fun and excitement from start to finish. We enjoyed the trek through the jungle where we got see sloths, exotic frogs & tucan birds, delicious lunch and finally the highlight of the day was the river safari where we got see abundant of wildlife including crocodiles, iguanas, birds, monkeys, etc. It was an amazing day immersed in nature, wildlife and fun. Wonderful trip, great staff, and lots of wildlife sightings. If you have waterproof walking sandals, those would be ideal.

The most special and amazing day! <3 we see so much wildlife including crocodiles, toucans, monkeys and best of all, sloths! One of the sloths was so close I managed to get a selfie with it, and was so overwhelmed with emotion I shed a tear. I was particularly conscious to make sure we were choosing an ethical experience in which the animals were respected and not stressed by us, Marlene shared my concerns and I could see the passion and effort that the guides go to to protect their environment. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved this tour from start to finish. Marlene was our driver and tour guide for the day. She was upbeat and lovely, made us feel comfortable and well looked after. She was also an excellent driver, crossing a river to pick us up from hotel! The river tube boating was fantastic, Marco took us around and we saw many crocodiles, egrets, lizards, iguanas and even some monkeys. Next stop at the rainforest was even more magical! We were able to get up close and personal with sloths, saw frogs, toucans, snakes, beautiful flowers and insects as well. I cannot recommend this tour enough. It was truly amazing!

The best and safest zip lining I have experienced, including Tarzan swing! The horseback riding was good. The hot spring was excellent. We could not do the river tubing because the river was too rough due to rain from the previous day. Highly recommended.

We had a great time. Fairly calm raft ride first where we saw lots of crocodiles, monkeys, iguanas, birds and more. Marcos was very helpful and has the eyes of an eagle spotting animals left and right. Next was our nature hike where we loved seeing sloths, snakes, birds and even porcupine. Allen was super helpful and even taught us how to use our cameras better! Marlene brought us safely to our destinations and guided us pointing out history, geography and nature along the way. Highly recommend this excursion! Only pointer I'd offer is to bring a change of shoes for the rafting...your feet can get wet and muddy getting in and out of the raft.

This was an amazing excursion!! Marlene was our tour guide and she has a huge passion for her job! With that passion she wants your tour to be very memorable and it was!! This tour was incredible! Marlene was our driver and took such good care of us. She was prompt, she spoke excellent English and taught us a lot about the area and Costa Rica in general. Our River guide Brian was fantastic and helped us spot some jungle animals along the river. Our walking guide Iesenia was so much fun and helped us spot 6 sloths, a bunch of birds and reptiles. Everyone was very accommodating and so nice. We took several tours during our visit and this tour was by far our favorite. Would highly recommend!

This was the second sloth tour we took on this trip and it was the best. The river safari was great but the sloth tour was beyond amazing. Marlene was our personal tour guide and took us to this unique location for the jungle tour. She is the best and knew a lot about the history. Stephanie was our personal guide for the jungle tour. She helped take and also took some amazing pictures. I was so close to sloths, literally next to them, including a very cute baby sloth. Stephanie knew where they hang out. We also saw snakes and frogs, but being next to the sloths was the highlight. The sloth even turned around for picture perfect poses. It was once in a lifetime opportunity for these unbelievable sloth pictures. If I had the option to post pictures, I would. If in Costs Rica, make sure you go with Marlene. And ask for Stephanie for the jungle tour.

We took this tour with our 8 and 10 year olds. We saw monkeys before we even arrived at our first destination! The river rafting was safe and enjoyable with small thrills as you pass a few class 2 rapids. The rafting is mostly in the sun so be warned it will be hot. The afternoon jungle walk was a huge highlight, as you have a private guide with a viewing scope to spot things for you and help you take pictures. We saw 2 types of sloths, 2 types of toucans, a frog, turtle, pit viper snake, leaf cutter ants, a Mexican hairy porcupine and more. Very impressed as this was our first jungle outing in Costa Rica! Also, our driver/guide was great. She showed us many things as we drove and was So great interacting with our kids.

Excellent experience since it is a private tour for your family! Marlene was terrific and allowed us to add in an extra stop (to visit a waterfall - a must do when in Costa Rica)! She taught us about her country while we drove, and stopped and purchased us fruit to try (Yummy!). The two planned tours - river and rain forest - were both fun and worthwhile. Both tour guides were bueno! We saw all of the wildlife we wanted to see which satisfied my family’s Costa Rica Bucket List!! Highly recommend this trip and this tour guide, Marlene!

We enjoyed our day with Marlene, Brian, and Walter. Marlene drove and escorted us to each location. Along the way she shared her knowledge about the area and answered our questions. We learned so much. Brian was our guide on the river raft. We didn’t see much wildlife but still enjoyed the relaxing trip down the river. Walter was our guide at the rain forest. He was fun and interactive with us. He also got some great pictures for me with my phone. It was a great day to see and learn about the country.

This was an amazing tour! We would absolutely do it again. Brian, Walter and Marlene were friendly, knowledgeable and so accommodating tour guides! We can’t say enough about this experience:)

Marlene our driver was great and went above and beyond all day. Marco our boat tour guide and Alan our rainforest guide were both knowledgeable and friendly. We saw lots of wildlife and beautiful plants and trees. Would definitely recommend this tour.

I (56 year old female) brought my mom (77) and my son (21) to Costa Rica and am so glad we decided to do this tour. Marlene, our driver all day was amazing. She is so sweet, friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure we had a fantastic day. She picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the river for the safari by raft. The river guide Durman was knowledgeable and pointed out lots of flora and fauna. He provided snacks, water and juice. We saw crocodiles, iguanas, monkeys, bats, and a bunch of birds. There were some rapids which made it fun. After the safari on the river, we had a traditional Costa Rican lunch which was great. After lunch, we headed to the rainforest for a short hike to see all of the animals we were hoping to see and some others we had not expected. Walter was our guide and he was truly fantastic. He helped to make sure my mom was comfortable and that we all had a great time. We saw yellow throated toucans, red-eyed tree frog, eyelash viper, sloths including a young one who was very close to us, strawberry poison frog (only poisonous if you eat them), and a large tapir. All of us loved the day, including my mom (77) and son (21). I think this tour is great for people of all ages. I highly recommend this trip!

We were first picked up by Marlene, who is a wealth of information on Costa Rica. She is very accommodating and such a sweet, thoughtful person. We were then taken to the river and our rafting experience with Durman was starting. Durman is also a fantastic guide with the best eyesight in the world. I swear, that man can spot all kinds of animals! All kinds of birds, bats, monkeys,iguanas and crocodiles were seen throughout our rafting adventure. Marlene then took us to have a fantastic lunch and then off to the rainforest to see the animals. We were met by our guide, Walter. He was so exited to show us all the animals that were around. We were able to see sloths, a tapir, frogs and snakes. Walter was the nicest, most professional guide in all of our rainforest trips. He was excited to share all he knew about the animals. Fantastic fay, thank you!

Amazing experience. Marlena our driver was with us for the entire day. She was very informative about Costa Rica and made sure we had the best out of out rafting and sloth safari. Duran our raft guide pointed out the wildlife and plants. The lunch was tasty along with the watermelon Marlena purchased from a roadside vendor. The sloth safari was the highlight. We saw at six slothes 2 had babies, along with frogs, tapir and birds. Guides were educated on the wildlife. Highly recommend

This is an amazing experience. Although it is not billed as a private tour everything about is first class. We were picked up on time by the friendliest and most knowledgeable tour guide Marlene (Marlin as she told us how to pronounce it). The first segment was a very safe and informative rubber boat ride down a very easy flowing river. The tour guide, Ryan, kept pointing out monkeys, iguanas, herons, egrets, cormorants that we would never see on our own. He also positioned the boat so that we could get great photos to show everyone back home. The highlight was a huge crocodile sitting on top of a rock, We got close enough for more great pictures. This was followed by an excellent authentic Costa Rican lunch . We then were driven by Marlene to a tropical rain forest for our tour with Allan. This tour was very detailed and organized as the guide prepared earlier in the day to locate the positions of the animals that we would want to see. Again without a tour guide you would never be able to spot the animals. We saw a red eye frog, a blue jean frog, a yellow viper snake, a very poisonous red frog, leaf cutter ants, multiple sloths and several birds. Allan took my cell phone and took great pictures that would have been impossible for me to take. He was very well informed and answered all of my many questions. We then proceeded to drive back to the pick up point with Marlene and she was a very gracious hostess. We feel like we made a lifelong friend as she was very engaging and passionate about her culture. I can not recommend this tour highly enough and can only recommend that you bring bug repellant and sun screen and an open mind to a great experience.

One of our favorite days of the trip! Marlene was an excellent guide who picked us up and offered a lot of knowledge about the local wildlife on our ride out to Tenorio River. The rafting was incredible as we saw so much wildlife — howler monkeys, baby & adult crocs, bats, iguanas, egrets, and more. After rafting, we stopped for a quick lunch which was good and traditional Costa Rican food. We then headed out to the rain forest to a wildlife sanctuary to see frogs, snakes, and sloths. We even saw a sloth come down and came within inches of it!! We couldn’t recommend this tour enough!

One of the best tours ever. Highly recommend. Pick up/return to hotel. Excellent guides. Peaceful cruise down the river. Delicious lunch. Quiet walk through the rain forest. Saw so much wildlife with the help of our guides.

This tour was a highlight of our 12 day trip to Costa Rica. If you want to see animals in their natural environment, then this tour is a must. We relaxed while David, our rafting guide, steered us toward magnificent photo ops of lizards, crocodiles, bats, egrets, herons and made sure we saw the Jesus Christ lizard (basilisk lizard) walk on water! After lunch at a local Costa Rican restaurant, our driver, Marlene, drove us 30 minutes to the rain forest. After a short downpour--it is the rainforest after all, Maria lead us through nature trails pointing out various birds, frogs, a yellow pit viper!, as well as numerous plants and animals. The absolute highlight was seeing a sloth in a tree at eye level. You can't help but fall in love with these creatures when they look you right in the eye with a goofy grin. Totally worth the price of admission! Finally, Marlene gets special recognition for being one of the best drivers on our entire trip. She made us feel safe, welcome and treated us like we were part of her family. All of our guides were friendly and enthusiastic but Marlene had a special "something" that made you understand that Costa Rica is a unique place that needs to be preserved. She loves what she does and her enthusiasm is contagious. We ended our visit on this highlight but will definitely be returning in the future and will make sure to include a tour with Marlene on subsequent trips!

Rafting down the Rio Tenario and seeing wildlife everywhere. After lunch ended the day in the rainforest and bonded with a 3 toed sloth! Saw snakes, colorful frogs and toucans. Felipe. Marlene and Walter were AMAZING!

My family thoroughly enjoyed the sloth and rainforest tour. Our guide, Walter, was amazing at finding the animals and even took some pictures for us to be sure they were fantastic. We were so blessed to get face to face with a sloth on a very long tree branch in the forest. Walter had an excellent eye and found multiple vipers and tree frogs too. The river tour portion was a bit hot and we didn’t see too many animals, but the guide said the water was a bit high an murky from a bunch of rain they had the days previous to our tour. The lunch was also delicious. Our driver, Marlene, was also kind and wonderful! Be sure to check where your hotel is though, we were far out and it added 3 hours to our tour.

Marlene, Marcos, and Walter were so amazing!! From the minute Marlene picked us up, her happy energy was contagious creating such a fun atmosphere. She was very educational along the drive and would even make stops along the way to pick up roadside snacks! It was amazing how many animals Marcos and Walter were able to spot out that we would have typically never noticed. The entire crew was just so amazing and I highly recommend!!! Marlene was even sweet enough to surprise me with a birthday cake and gift :)

This was an excellent day trip - between rafting on two Costa Rican rivers, seeing abundant wildlife to a trip up to a sanctuary in the rainforest where we saw plenty of sloths, snakes and other localized creatures. Marlene, our guide, was excellent, knowledgeable and super fun. We’d recommend this trip and any trip with Marlene.
