Sloth Watching, Miravalles Hot Springs & Waterfall Tour

My family had a wonderful trip with our guide, Manuel and driver, Gustavo! There are plenty of other reviews that explain the details of the trip so I won't repeat them here. I would say that for our family of four, this was the perfect excursion to see some of the highlights of the area. The trip was very well organized and coordinated and all of the staff members that we encountered along the way we're extremely professional courteous and passionate about sharing their local knowledge and expertise!

Manny and Gustavo were amazing! They were prompt, helpful, AND helped us see sloths, toucans, and frogs. Highly recommended tour group. Even better if you get Manny and Gustavo 🙂

I booked this last minute — roughly twelve hours before departure, late in the evening on a workday. They still responded promptly despite the short notice, which I appreciated. I was the only guest that day, so it was pricier than a group tour would be, but that made sense given the private setup. The driver picked me up early in a minibus, and Carlos, my guide, stood out. He’s bilingual — English and Spanish — and since I speak both, he spent part of the drive helping me practice Spanish. It felt less like a tour and more like half a day with a friend. They were flexible with the itinerary. I mentioned I don’t swim, so we skipped the mud bath portion — I just walked down, took some photos, and rejoined. They also trimmed things based on what I wanted to see, and we wrapped up in about four to five hours instead of a full day. Everything advertised as included — bottled water, lunch — was actually there. Communication before and during the trip was quick and clear. Not the cheapest option out there, but for a private, last-minute, personalized day, it delivered what it promised.

Manuel was an excellent tour guide. We learned so much at both the cacao farm and coffee farm. The waterfall was beautiful. The walk thru the rain forest was amazing. A once in a lifetime experience and we saw a baby sloth, tucán, viper snake, and gorgeous flowers. The authentic lunch was delicious and some of the best food we had on our trip.

This was our favorite activity we did in Costa Rica. Our tour guide Nana was the absolute best! She went above and beyond with little surprises - local homemade coconut ice and fresh pineapple. Nana knew and shared so much of her knowledge about Costa Rican culture, flora and fauna. The waterfalls were beautiful and the hot springs were amazing! I loved that we were able to see sloths in their natural habitat. I highly recommend this tour and ask for Nana!

This was the perfect Costa Rican experience. Nana provided a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife, geography and culture on our all day adventure. She listened and went above and beyond to help us check off so many hopes for our trip. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing tour! Nana our tour guide was so full of information regarding local flora and fauna in addition to Costa Rica life. She went above and beyond to make a surprise special stop at a place where I did research 25 years ago! She also treated us to local homemade coconut ice cream. The waterfalls were beautiful and the hot springs were so relaxing. We loved being able to see sloths in their natural habitat. Nana is the absolute best! I would highly recommend this tour!

We enjoyed our private tour very much! Alejandro was knowledgeable, professional, and funny. Because of him we have better understanding of Pura Vida. Not only did we see 6 sloths at two different locations, we saw red eye tree frogs and their eggs, Bee hive Ginger, and much more. We thoroughly enjoyed or local meal. Thanks again Alejandro.

Juan was knowledgeable and nice. Felt like we were hanging out with family. Hot springs was refreshing and trying to get glimpse of the Sloth was funny, since I didn’t have my glasses. We saw other small animals and beautiful flowers along the path, red eye tree frog. The guides at the location Luis and Cato were a bunch of comedians and of course knowledgeable and patient. . Lunch was included at a local restaurant, food was good. We had a great time.

We are traveling in Costa Rica with 2 other families with smaller children. As we booked this tour we were not exactly sure what to expect. All I can say is that it exceeded our expectations!! It was the highlight of our trip!! Gino was the most knowledgeable and kind tour guide. Our children went with us on this trip hoping to spot some wildlife. Gino helped us to find toucans (which were absolutely gorgeous), sloths, tree frogs, snakes, butterflies, and monkeys all in the wild! He helped us to learn more about these animals, the rainforest, and the culture in Costa Rica. We cannot believe how much we learned in one day. If you’re looking for a wonderful tour whether you’re an adult, have children, or just want to learn about animals and Costa Rica itself make sure you ask for Gino! By far the best tour guide I have ever had along my travels.

We had such a wonderful experience with Carlos. He spent time providing information about Costa Rica on our drive to the volcano. We so enjoyed our horseback riding, hike and hanging bridges to see a number of waterfalls and then a mud bath ritual. Because we did a private tour we were able to customize the experience and had a wonderful lunch at the La Forketta in Liberia where they surprised my son with a traditional dessert and song for his birthday. It was overall excellent experience and highly recommend this tour company and ask for Carlos!

Dont miss out on this. Very unique and scenic. This doesn't take you to the primary crater which requires 4 hours hike each way

We had an absolutely amazing experience that exceeded all expectations! Our driver/tour guide Carlos was informative, and patient. He kept us on schedule to do everything so we didn’t miss a thing and did so much in just one day! My family and I fell in love with Costa Rica and will definitely be back and will use TripAdvisor for all future tours while traveling!
