Sloth Tour, Coffee, Chocolate And Tons Of Wildlife

We got lucky and when we got picked up, it was just our family so we got a private tour. We didn’t negotiate that ahead of time. I think we just got lucky Alex our tour guide is native and local and absolutely loves Costa Rica and it shows! We went to a waterfall and then we got to check out the Celeste river where we had an amazing lunch overlooking the rainforest. We saw so many cool animals and birds, and then we ended it with a coffee and chocolate tour in the rainforest, it was a very fabulous day. We felt safe and it was really enjoyable. Spending the day with Alex who shared information about Costa Rica as we drove.

What a great day that we had with Alex, we were picked up at our hotel meeting spot. He was early. We had sort of a list of what we were going to do, but we weren’t sure exactly what order and It made for a really fun spontaneous day! We ended up going to a waterfall and exploring the area. We got to see howler monkeys and Alex was really interested in nature and highlighting different animals so as we were driving to our next destination, we were able to pull over and see a real three toe sloth in the wild. It was such a cool experience, then we proceeded onto the blue River, which is Celeste River in the rainforest. What a magical experience then we got to eat an authentic local Costa Rican lunch with a view of the rainforest canopy where we got to see birds flying around and trying delicious food, we ended in the rainforest with a coffee and chocolate tour, which was really interesting and tasty. If you have a full day and you wanna really dig in and see the real Costa Rica I highly recommend this tour. Alex was a really nice guy very patient and explained a lot of interesting details about Costa Roca and the culture along the way. Highly recommend.!

This is the second time we have hired Alex. He was born and raised in Costa Rica. He knows all the secret spots to find animals! Don’t go to Costa Rica without hiring him. He is the best!

Alex took us all over the place! He took a zip lining at the Skye trek. He took us to a sloth sanctuary. Incredible! He took us to the waterfall and we went swimming and then he took us to Baldi Hot Springs so we could soak in the pools there. It was the most amazing day ever.!

Alex is a wealth of knowledge and an expert on the flora and fauna, and history of Costa Rica. We used his services on a previous vacation and would totally do it again. His tours are exceptional.

Excellent trip and the guide was very knowledgeable

The tour we booked included the waterfall, hot springs with mud bath, lunch, and rain forest to see the sloths. Our driver and guide was Mick. We recommend going with him as he is easy to chat with and gives an artistic interpretation to the scenery, which is so diverse as we move from one location to the next. The lunch meal was absolutely delicious. This tour should be on your bucket list if you love nature and wildlife.

Meek was our guide for the, he was awesome. Due to a communication issue or trip was postponed by a day and we added the hot springs and mud bath. Having the extra time with Meek was a plus. The sloth, coffee, chocolate portion was great. We ate some termites, saw a toucan, snakes, sloths. The mud bath and hot springs were great as we felt like our group of four were the only ones there.

Fantastic tour. Our guide Mick was fantastic, very knowledgeable and perfect english. We saw all the wildlife we expected to see. There were many three-toed and two-toed sloths. Spider and Howler Monkees. Toucan, Motmot and many other birds. We picked coffee and ground local coffee beans. We roasted cacao beans and ground them to make chocolate. We made a tortilla and empanada. The people were so nice and knowledgeable. We finished with a meal at a country restaurant where they cooked an entire meal on a wood fire. We highly recommend this tour to see the most wild life and local customs in a single tour.

We did a full-day excursion with Alex On The Beach Adventures, and it was hands down the best day of our Costa Rica trip. Our group was a family of 11 people ranging in age from 5 to 80, and every single person had an incredible time. The tour included Llanos de Cortez waterfall, a hanging bridges walk, a sloth observatory (in the wild), a delicious lunch, coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane experience, water/drinks, transportation, and a bilingual guide. It was a full, adventurous, and beautifully curated day where we saw so much wildlife and learned a lot about Costa Rica and the rainforest. What truly made the experience exceptional was Alex himself. He is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and friendly, and you can immediately tell how deeply he loves Costa Rica and what he does. He genuinely wants to share his passion with travelers and went out of his way to make sure we had the best possible experience. We never once felt rushed, and he was amazing with both kids and adults. His warmth and enthusiasm really set this tour apart. The views were absolutely stunning, and seeing a sloth in the wild was surreal, a true bucket-list moment for us (not to mention monkeys, toucans, snakes, frogs, and a lot more - all in the wild). Everything exceeded our expectations. A few helpful tips: it’s a long day, so be prepared, but it’s very well paced and not rushed at all. Alex can also customize the itinerary if you want to add or remove stops. We personally loved having the full-day experience since we planned more relaxed beach days around it. The physical level is easy, with just a bit of uphill walking; even our older family members managed just fine. And definitely bring bug spray. This tour is great for kids too; our children (ages 5–10) loved it, and honestly, so did everyone else. We would 100% recommend Alex On The Beach Adventures and hope to book more tours with Alex the next time we’re back in Costa Rica. An unforgettable experience.

We came to Costa Rica as a large group of 14 people (7 kids and 7 adults). We met Carlos on the beach the first day we arrived at Planet Hollywood and booked multiple tours. Carlos was amazing with accommodating our large group and our driver Javier was amazing! It was a wonderful trip!

We had an absolutey incredible experience with this tour. Alex was our tour guide and driver for the day. He was incredibly knowledgeable about flora, fauna, the history of costa rica and the land. We started at the Cortez Waterfalls, which was spectacular. He took amazing videos and family photos for us. Then we made our way to the volcanoes and hot springs - the kids enjoyed this too. It was fascinating to learn about the history and see the rocks and volcanoes. Afterwards, lunch was included at an authentic Costa Rican restaurant in the rainforest. Best food we have had so far on this trip. Kids loved the food as well. In the rainforest we saw sloths close up, tuscans, viper snakes, red eye frogs (blue jean frogs) and so many gorgeous plants that we learned about. It was phenomenal. We cant wait to come back and do this same tour with Alex next year. Big difference going private where you are on your own schedule. Recommend 💯

If you are looking for a nature tour, look no further. Carlos helped us organize the trip and made the booking process effortless. We booked everything with him at the beach on the Planet Hollywood resort. Our guide, Alex, was the real star of the show. He was incredibly patient and informative, taking the time to make sure we got great photos and understood what we were looking at. We saw things we never would have spotted without him, including a three-toed sloth, a white-nosed coati, and a classic red-eyed tree frog! Birdwatchers will love him too; we spotted Red-legged Honeycreepers and Orioles thanks to his spotting scope. We ended the day at a gorgeous waterfall which was the perfect way to cool off. Lunch was great too and included in the package. Thank you, Alex and Carlos, for such a memorable day!

Not only was the experience amazing.. but Alex was an encyclopedia of knowledge & history! He made every moment entertaining, fun & filled us with so much knowledge on all things Costa Rica!! Best trip ever!!

We recently went on a tour with Alex and he was amazing! He knew exactly where to take us to see what we wanted. We got to see a baby sloth, toucans, snakes, and frogs. After our wildlife walk, we had a fabulous lunch and then did the coffee and cocoa tour, which was so interesting. I never actually thought about how coffee was made until then! After that, we saw a beautiful waterfall. Alex was so fun to be with all day and helped us achieve our wants!

Pepe (our guide) was so awesome! He even stopped by a local Walmart. He was punctual and very nice. We did the hot springs, mud bath, had a traditional meal which included ice cream. The volcano was impressive. And the sloths were the cutest. I had never seen an owl in person nor had I ever seen parrots (Alejandro and Emilia) up close and personal. The frogs were pretty cool too. Enjoy the tour!

Carlos helped book the trip, Alex was our driver and he was so awesome, the waterfall was shut down but he still made it fun. He then took us on wild lofe tour where we seen baby sloth, coffee and chocolate was great, we learned about all the ways it was made. Very nice ride accommodations for all 9 of us, 5 star day.

We had a wonderful experience on our tour with Alex. He gave us time to enjoy all the experiences, we were never rushed. Alex made sure the boys got to do some hidden "cliff" jumps at the waterfall that we would not have known about otherwise. He chose a wildlife tour location where 2 sloths were at ground level and we got to see them up close and our guide at that spot was amazing w/ a great sense on humor. They served a fantastic traditional after the nature walk. Highly recommend the chicken. We did the coffee tour as an extra add on and then went off to the hot spring mud bath. After spending at least 1 hour at the thermo mania hot spring we finally decided to head back to the hotel (430pm). Alex knew we had other tours planned later in our trip and suggested we buy some bug spray and additional items for those experiences. He was even willing to do an unplanned stop at Wal-Mart and guide us in get those items. Such amazing service and care focused on the best guest experience! 5 out of 5.

Oh my goodness! This has been the highlight of our time on Costa Rica! What a perfect day in such good company. Pur tour guide was the perfect host. The food was the best, the whole day was perfectly planned and filled with adventure from authentic mud bathing, hot springs, rainforest walking to sloth watching ...thank you Carlos and Akex, for sharing the natural Costa Rica with us. The waterfall was amazing and hot springs was an experience that our family will remember forever. We saw at least 6 sloths during our rainforest exploration. Wild animals were out and we got to see them all! Food was delicious too! When in Costa Rica, call them!

SO AMAZING! We met Carlos at the beach of the planet hollywood resort, who helped us book our excursion hassle free. We spent a full day, about 8 hrs, touring the costal divide, seeing two beautiful waterfalls, wildlife, and SLOTHS (not in captivity!). Alex, who was our tour guide, catered to our needs and wants the entire day. He was so knowledgeable and made our experience even better! would HIGHLY recommend!

Alex on the beach took us to some beautiful waterfalls and to see the sloths. We’ve also used him to pick us up from the airport and take us back to the airport. Always on time with pick ups. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

We utilized Alex on the Beach services for both a rainforest excursion and transportation to San Jose from Liberia. Alex and Javier took very good care of us! The excursion was fantastic and Alex was so knowledgeable about the culture and history of Costa Rica as well as the wildlife. We had a delicious lunch, saw sloths and snakes, and ended with a coffee and chocolate tour. It was an amazing day. The transportation to San Jose was comfortable, easy and pleasant. Javier ensured we had plenty of stops when needed and shared local sights and history on the trip from Liberia to the city. In both cases, we felt comfortable, safe and truly enjoyed the conversation with Alex and Javier who treated us like friends during our time with them. Highly recommend!

Where to begin.... First of all I would like to say that I was hesitant to listen to carlos and what he had to offer because so many people try to sell you trips and tours but wow am I ever glad that I did. Our first trip with this company was deep sea fishing, snorkeling, and to visit the cave. The crew were sooooo nice and we caught some amazing massive fish. We took our 22, 21, 20 and 14 year old children and they had a blast. This was 100% worth it and after listening to soooo many "sales pitches" this one was the most genuine and reasonable and most accommodating. I recommend skipping everyone else and just heading directly to them. It was the perfect day. Soooo.... we decided to book a 2nd excursion. The waterfall, rainforest, coffee and chocolate excursion. What an amazing time. Javier was so wonderful he became family in 5 minutes. We actually took him to dinner after this excursion because he was so good to our family and made the day so much better. The waterfall is beautiful and the people there that take photos for a simple tip as apprenticion were like professionals!!! Photos that will last a lifetime. The rainforest left us speechless. To be 1 foot from a baby sloth is a once in a lifetime experience. The lunch after was also soooo delicious. The coffee and chocolate tour was so informative and interesting even our young adults had a great time. At first we were slightly turned off by the thought of a long drive but Javier was so informative telling us everything about every little place we passed it was like we weren't even in the car These excursions made our vacation to Costa rica 10 times better and I am so grateful for Carlos, Javier and the Boat crew and everyone else that was apart of our days. Don't book through the hotel, don't listen to the others... book with this company. You won't regret it. Every other family that booked with them had the same feelings and I hope they post their reviews as well. Thank you for the most amazing memories ever. Because of you we will be back to Costa Rica.

We had a lot of fun with Alex today. We did a river boat tour that included seizing crocodiles, several species of birds and lizards and howler monkeys. He then took us to have an authentic Costa Rican lunch Next was a nature hike where we got to see sloths, frogs, snakes, flora and fauna. Our last stop was the blue river which was beautiful. We could not have asked for any better of a tour guide. Thank you so much Alex for a wonderful. Looking forward to our next tour.

MUST DO! LOVED everything about this excursion! They were all great but the rainforest was THE BEST! Seeing the sloths in their natural habitat was beautiful. Javier was amazing!!!!! He made sure we were always comfortable especially with having our 5 year old. He made everything so much more enjoyable with his knowledge of his beautiful country. Highly recommend! Everyone is so lovely and let’s not forget how delicious food is!
