Truly a fantastic experience. The guide was so knowledgeable about all things about Costa Rica (pro tip, sit in the front seat with him and ask lots of questions :)). Generally speaking, Costour was absolutely fantastic to me throughout my month in Costa Rica, letting me know of options for a solo traveler to join a group trip. I went on three adventures with them and they were all life long experiences and memories I will take with me forever :) Thank you!!

Kevin and Alberto were amazing! Fun, flexible and very knowledgeable. We saw and swam in the beautiful Rio Celeste and saw 5 sloths, a viper, multiple frogs and other exciting critters. I highly recommend this. It captured the essence of what Costa Rica has been in my mind all my life.
Amazing tour! The owner, Kevin, was our guide. We had an amazing day. Saw sloths, snakes, various frogs, and toucans. Kevin was very knowledgable and made our day memorable. Would certainly go on his tour again!
Fantastic day of touring around. We all had an amazing day. Gabriel was amazing and would highly recommend. Jess at the sanctuary was amazing and helped get some of the best pictures I have ever seen of animals.
We had the best time! We swam in the Blue River, we saw sloths, toucans, poisonous frogs, tasted termites :), learned how to survive in the jungle, lol, and had a wonderful time making friends with our fellow internationals! Thank you Kevin and Memo for a wonderful time!
Although our trip was canceled Kevin reached out to make any other options available including a private tour. I appreciate him reaching out and going above and beyond to accommodate us. We will be back soon and plan to book with him and his family. I’m grateful for his help and the work he does.
Our guide Kevin and Memo the driver took us on a fun all day adventure! We saw all kinds of wildlife and birds, and the best part was seeing the sloth that came down to the ground up close!! Truly amazing to be that close to a sloth. Lunch at the traditional Costa Rican restaurant in Bijagua was tasty, and there was a butterfly garden attached to the restaurant. We had a full van, and I’m pretty sure everyone had an amazing time. Thank you!
My girlfriend, sister and I absolutely loved this excursion! If you are lucky enough to have Luis as your guide, you are in for an amazing day of insight and desire to share his country with you. From high quality transportation, on the fly stops to see/taste Costa Rica, you will not be disappointed. We made a stop off at a tree that was 500 years old and was the inspiration for Avatar. We also saw a sloth just above our heads, which was on my girlfriend’s life bucket list. This was only one of 4.5 sloths we saw (one had a baby!). Tree frogs, poison dart frogs, birds, pit vipers, and even a tapir walked right across our path when we stopped to walk around. It was very safe and we stopped off for a great lunch at a very cool farm with a great view. We were able to get amazing pictures of it all and our guide might be a professional photographer, so we were all in the photos as well. IT. WAS. AWESOME! Thank you SO much Luis. You truly made our trip exceptional and wish you all the best!
Tour guides were great, warm and personable. Van was clean and safe. You won't see the water fall FYI, but that wasn't a deal breaker for us. Would have appreciated a shorter swim for more jungle time. **Wear pants for the jungle/bring bug spray** if you'e scared of insects.
Come prepared to endure a nearly 2hr private bus ride, hike to the rio Celeste, and through the rainforest to see sloths, toucans, frogs, etc. when I say “prepared” I mean it… I wish we would have worn long pants, long sleeves, and more comfortable closed toe walking shoes. There were A LOT of bugs and possible snakes which we didn’t fully appreciate until it was too late. Despite using bug spray, we are covered in bites. Still, really nice time seeing all the animals, just a really long drive and a little too much nature for the outfits we prepared. Our driver was also the best. Thanks Alberto!
Our guides, Memo and David were amazing! They were so friendly and accommodating. Our group was small which made moving to the different locations much faster. Getting to be up close and personal with the sloths was such a joy and lunch was delicious. Overall it was a great day and we had a wonderful time. We definitely recommend this tour. Pura Vida!
Kevin was a wonderful guide. So thoughtful and knowledgeable. Our driver Memo was amazing. So friendly and great at sporting wildlife on our drive. It was a great day from pick up to drop off.
Wildlife was wonderful!!! Saw many sloths, Tappan, frogs, bats, snakes and some specific birds. Lots of fun.
Tour guides were incredible. Very friendly and accommodating. Tour itself was very much worth it. Saw all kinds of wildlife. Ate delicious food. Got to spend time in the jungle. It was great 👍.
Tour guide was awesome and very entertaining!!! Sighting sloths in their habitat was soo cool! I recommend this trip!
I thought I'd done a review, but apparently not. This was an excellent way to experience the countryside, the flora, the fauna. The two main residents I wanted to see were red dart frogs and sloths. Saw plenty of both. It was an amazing day. Our driver and tour guides were very knowledgeable. Spending the day outdoors, looking upwards in the trees for the camouflaged sloths was a fun game. We went to two different areas- one was established for sloth viewing and second one was just starting out with banana trees. At the second one we saw a mama and baby, a lone male, and a young one about 6 months old climbing thru the banana leaves. My heart was full.
What an absolutely fantastic experience. Our driver/guide was professional, timeliness was on point and we got to see SLOTHS!!! The nature tour was incredible, saw so many beautiful animals. The lunch was great, and suitable for a celiac friend we had with us! The swim was an unexpected highlight and all the things we did felt private and not swamped with tourists. Would HIGHLY recommend!
The driver was knowledgeable and personable. The hike was an easy stroll, the guide there was very good at his job and very knowledgeable about the ecosystem. Swimming in the river while it rained was amazing! Lunch was delicious! Pura Vida!
A fantastic experience and wonderful guides! We got to see the sloths, a couple of monkeys, dart frogs, harmless green frog hanging out on a leaf and even a Coral snake. The trail is well maintained and the facilities were nice too. They also have a little setup for making tortillas the traditional way, which was fun and tasty. They have two very sweet dogs that ran along side us the entire hike. We stayed in Playa Hermosa, so the drive was quite long. The driver was fantastic, answered a ton of questions and stopped at a quaint local restaurant for lunch. They had a butterfly pavilion attached to the restaurant. The food there was great as well. All around a great experience in a beautiful country.
Our driver and guide was wonderful! Our driver was as knowledgeable about everything from the volcanoes to the trees even the wildlife. He was teaching us Spanish. Our guide for the tour took some great pictures. She was so helpful and kind. She knew where to look for the animals. The River we swam in looked like it was from National Geographic. I recommend the fish for lunch because it was fantastic. Best day ever!! This is a private tour.
This was worth every penny! The van was private and air-conditioned. The tour and hiking guides were so kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The views of the volcanoes and landscape along the way were breathtaking. When we arrived for the hike the wildlife was unbelievable and everywhere! We saw spider monkeys, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, several sloths, butterflies, birds, red-eyed tree frogs, hummingbirds, and more. Along the trail, there were little refreshments of fresh fruit, coffee, and water set up for us. We hiked down a beautiful path surrounded by vibrant flowers to swim in the most fantastic river of cool turquoise blue water. After cooling off we headed to a delicious traditional lunch made fresh and while we waited for it to be ready relaxed in the butterfly garden where we saw giant blue butterflies the size of your face. Our trip ended with a nap on the ride back and a pit stop at a great gift shop. Definitely book this tour!
Our air conditioned 2 our ride to the first destination was pleasant! The guide was attentive and accommodating. The nature walk was doable by our five year old and we had a great time too. The guide was able to point out numerous things. Sloths, monkeys, frogs, leaf cutter ants, cicadas, butterflies and even cool plants. Just when that was done off we went for a beautiful swim may be chilly for some but not for us and then off for a great lunch and surprise a butterfly experience with it. Then a nice ride back with a great stop at a lovely gift store and ICE CREAM!!! Long day I at first thought turned into a rather fast and glad we did it experience. Memo our driver/ guide was top notch informative and again attentive.
Driver was prompt and courteous. Interesting drive from the arid to the lush landscapes. Hike was restricted to a small plot of land with trails throughout. Lunch was good and plentiful. Saw small butterfly exhibit, no snake farm. Stopped for a swim, pretty but under the bridge for the road. Unexpected and unnecessary stop at a souvenir shop, would rather have used this time to explore. Would have liked more English, more information about what we were seeing and better communication overall. The drive was long in comparison to the activities.
My spouse and I along with my sister and her husband went on this excursion at 7am. In February 2023 From Vista Ocotal. It took 2 plus hours to get up into the Mountains between the two volcanoes. It was in the low 80F rather than the 90s at the beach. Very light mist. Super comfortable weather. We stopped for coffee and pastries on the way. When we arrived, we went on a two hour walking tour to see animals and birds. Right off, we were shown a viper at about knee hight so we were able to get really close. Then we saw sleeping sloths in the trees. We saw several kinds of Toucans and other birds. We saw lots of White faces monkeys and howler monkeys. We were taken next to a tico Soda for authentic Tico home cooked like they do at home. These were our best meals in Costa Rica! They also had a fantastic Butterfly experience with scads of different butterflies. We then we're taken to a river where we could swim and cool off, but we weren't very hot and the river was cold, so we just splashed around for a while. Then we headed back and arrived at Vista Ocotal at 4:00pm. Our guide/driver spoke English fairly well but didn't know the deep details we were asking for at times. But he was very personable and fun all the time. It was a very different experience than the guided boat trip on the river and we saw completely different plants and animals. I highly recommend doing both!!! We are all between 60-70 yrs old, in good health. These tours are great for our age. Easy walking, modest inclines.
Magical excursion! Thanks to Costour for the quick and easy booking and the excellent service throughout the day, we had a perfect day! The driver and guide were very attentive; we learned a lot of interesting things about Costa Rica on the road and during the excursion! We discovered many sloths, frogs, monkeys, butterflies and even a snake.... Let the Costour team guide you, your experience in nature will be unforgettable; I recommend it!
Booked in with Costour for this tour online. Very helpful staff that responded promptly. Great 3:1 tour with the sloths/nature walk, then a butterfly lunch stop and finally a stop/swim at ultra blue water. Oscar was a great guide who was super informative and very attentive. Thanks for a great day out, Oscar!
My partner and I had an absolutely amazing time on this excursion. Papito was so knowledgable about everything Costa Rica related and we came away having learnt so much. We saw many animals on the treck and we were lucky enough to see a 7 month old baby sloth feeding on leaves a foot in front of us. The lunch stop was a traditional Costa Rican restaurant and the food was faultless. It was the best day of the holiday and when we return we will do this again!
We did the Palo Verde boat and Sloth discovery tours. The tour guides were great - very knowledgeable with answers to every question. The sloth tour was unbelievable - the sloths weren't just up in the trees - we met a sloth walking along the path, oh so very slowly and carefully! And birds, 400 yr old trees. We stopped by a mountain stream for a quick swim. On the boat tour we stopped by a worksite where men were digging up sand out of a river that would be used to make cement. they loaded the sand onto ox carts - for real!, pulled it up to a clearing and dumped it. A big backhoe then scooped it up and loaded it on a big 18-wheel truck. A real contrast of traditional and modern Costa Rica. CosTour is well worth fitting into your visit to Costa Rica. These tours are as close to seeing wild animals in their natural state as you can get.
We saw so many animals. Nature was beautiful and the flowers were bright and colourful. Blue water was refreshing during our afternoon swim. Our guide Isabelle has so much knowledge to share. I really recommend this tour.
Seeing sloths, frogs, vipers, toucans, and other birds in their natural habitat was incredible!! Our guides were highly knowlegeable and we had a fabulous time!
Awesome tour. The sloths and monkeys were on full display as well a a number of birds. We swam in a beautiful spot on the Rio Celeste River which was amazingly blue. Our guide Memo was helpful and informative. I highly recommend Costours and the Sloth Discovery Tour!
A few things to be aware of: - It's a 2 hour van drive from Coco Beach area. So, when you think about it as an all day adventure, 4 hours are driving. Views are very nice though. - The "hike" to view the animals is not really a hike. It's more of a stroll through the eco park. Not strenuous at all. No need to bring water or snacks. The guides are really good at sighting the animals. Saw sloths, howler monkeys, tree frogs, iguanas, all kinds of birds and a lot of cool insects (like leaf-cutter ants). - Bring a swimsuit to change into as there is a nice dip in a nearby watering hole on the tour as well. It's is beautiful. Water is chilly. - The stop for lunch was great as well. Soda El Sabor - Dona Carmen. Great food, butterfly garden and nice bird viewing. Clean bathrooms!! Our tour guide, Guillermo, was great as well.
My husband and I went to Playas del Coco for our wedding a few weeks ago and wanted to do some excursions while in the area. We almost set up one through another company, but then saw a flyer last minute for Costour. We booked with them and so glad we did. Pepito the owner is awesome and so knowledgeable. He showed us things along the way and had lots of information to share. He was patient and didn't just rush to see sloths and then take us back. He was willing to stop when we wanted to take picts. We stopped to look at one of the round spheres of Costa Rica, saw a butterfly garden, had an amazing lunch and had the best Arroz con Pollo I've ever had. We saw White Face Capuchin monkeys, Howler Monkeys, birds, frogs, Sloths and many more animals. Even saw some toucans! The sloths were the highlight for all of us though. Pepito is awesome and we enjoyed the trip so much that we booked another one with him a few days later.
Great tour, very educational on the animals and the history of Costa Rica. Will recommend to other. All in French.
Our day with Pepito and Georgy could not have been better, Sloths, monkeys, Toucans, red eyed tree frog, BEAUTIFUL river swim, lunch, numerous photo ops, Pepito made sure our day was cultural, FUN, packed with respect for animals and country. PEPITO..."WOW" Will be booking again a d advising others to do so as well.
Sloth tour was fantastic! Gabrial was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Even though Rio Celeste was muddy because it was raining he still made the stop interesting. He made sure all were comfortable and dry. Lunch was delicious and the butterflies were a delightful surprise.Thank you again Gabrial for a wonderful day.
We had an amazing day discovering the sloths and all that costa rica has to offer in terms of biodiversity! I highly recommend Costour, they are so friendly, generous in time and explanations. Thanks Pepito for the great experience :)
I would like to take the time to let everyone know who is thinking about booking a trip in the area to book it with Costour . The experience was fantastic from start to finish, our trip on the sloth discovery tour was amazing and the full selection on wild life . I think these tours will become regular thing for myself and family on our visits. Pepito ,George from Costour and an young Fella Allen from the Sloth farm thank you Steve & Sandra From ontario canada PURA VIDA
My husband and I chose the sloth tour as part of our honeymoon. It has been my dream to experience sloths in their natural habitat. Costour was so accommodating even though the weather wasn’t the best they provided ponchos and kept our spirits high by giving us the best tour. We saw a baby sloth !! And so many amazing tree frogs. The guides were so insightful and I learned so much about the nature and biodiversity of Costa Rica. Yves is an amazing host and everything was so organized and well thought out. I highly recommend signing up for this tour. It is definitely worth your while to experience first hand the wildlife of this beautiful country.
Our trip combined a visit to a farm where we saw sloths, monkeys, and other creatures with a trip to Rio Celeste Waterfall. The sloth discovery portion was fun, but for me, the best part was the Rio Celeste Waterfall and then swimming in the river. That water is the most incredible shade of blue imaginable! Our guide, Rodman, was funny and helpful, switching back and forth from English to French to accommodate us. We also booked a trip to Palo Verde National park with a riverboat tour and saw tons of crocodiles, monkeys, iguanas, and birds. We got Rodman as our guide for this trip as well.
We went to Sloth Discovery Adventure at November, 20. Everything was impeccable, from transportation to impressions we got. A guide Jose was very helpful and gave us a ton of information about Costa Rica, volcanoes, rainforests and animals. We saw more than 10 sloths, few toucans, frogs and birds. Now we have unforgettable memories of Costa Rican nature.
We had an amazing trip to see the Sloths, frogs, monkeys, butterflies, birds, flowers and the other beautiful plants in the Tropical Forest. Thank you for the amazing adventure!
We booked two tours with Costour. The Sloth Discovery was the first tour we did. Rodman, our guide and driver, picked us up from our resort and even arrived early so we headed straight off. Rodman was a great guide - super friendly, very knowledgeable and very glad we had both our trips with him. We started off driving an hour and a half to see the Rio Celeste Waterfall. Saw some lovely scenery and volcanos on the drive. A hike through the rainforest until you get to the stairs to walk down to the waterfall. The waterfall is very beautiful. It is a bit of a hike so make sure to bring so water and good shoes. My favourite part of the day was visiting the finca and seeing all the animals in their natural habitat! It is so idillic and beautiful. We saw sloths, frogs, monkeys - simply incredible! A highlight of our trip. We then had a delicious (and massive!) lunch. Super tasty food. Cannot recommend Costours enough. Will definitely use them again next time I am in Costa Rica.
Snakes, Frogs, Monkeys, Butterflies, Insects, Flowers, Trees,, and of course, the Sloths. A Fun and Informative day that included local fare and refreshments. What a fantastic day,, Thanks so much to our driver and guide, Rodman and many others. A real class job. Can't wait for our next Costour...
Our guide and driver Michael de Costour, very friendly, answered all our questions and sent us several information during transport as well as on the different sites visited. The other guides, Kevin for our visit of the different animals and Anna for the visit of coffee and chocolate were also very friendly. Our dinner at the restaurant was delicious. We were 4 adults and all enjoyed our very pleasant and informative day. Thank you all!
Very nice day with Anouk to go or even the sloths and the Heavenly Rio River. Very comfortable transport arrived on time at our hotel. Riu Guanacaste. I highly recommend this activity, The Sloth Visit is done with respect for nature and animals. We have information about the plants and view of frogs and vipers. Thanks to Allan for making us some frog pictures with our Iphone 17. I didn't think this camera could take such beautiful pictures.
We did four activities with CostTour. Our guide Kevin and his wife Anouk were in the small care for us. We made the visit to Varanda which is a top resort with on the program of horse, zip line, slide, impressive with a real feeling of speed in the middle of the jungle. We also saw the Olive turtles, as well as their baby hatching on a beach. We also saw sloths, a bunch of birds, but also batracians like multicolored frogs. We also visited Palo Verde, where we could see crocodile, many birds than other reptiles, including many monkeys. Yeah, too. We highly recommend cost tour for the magical moments they were able to introduce us to better know the Costa rica, another big bravo to Kevin and his wife Anouk, as well as to the Driver who were dedicated during this stay.
Very nice day! on the trail to Rio Celeste Falls we saw; frog, snake and even a group of Capuchin monkeys, as well as a kinkaju. The fall was beautiful, it was worth the descent of the stairs as well as the ascent. Our guide Alberto was kind enough to stop for 20 minutes while me and my spouses went to cool off in the river. Excellent dinner with even a greenhouse with butterflies. After dinner stop at the tree of peace. And what about the visit of the sloths.... Wow, snakes, frogs, tapir, toucans and sloths. I recommend without hesitation
Excellent service, guide, driver, 3 excursions with them. Pleasure, professionalism, 5 star service!!!
Pick up at hotel required extra communication regarding correct location. Bus ride plus driver was good. In the park 1 sloth, 1 snake, 2 cockatoos and 3 frogs seen. I don't think this is much for the jungle. Guide was good. Also, the park was not really big and you could have easily walked through it in 45 minutes. Swimming in the river was fun but not spectacular. In the butterfly garden I saw 3 different butterflies. And was small on purpose. Lunch was ok, but also no more than that. The chocolate "factory" cocoa plantation. Was nicely located but is really just a big souvenir shop, with chocolate bars of 15 dollars each.
