My husband and I had a great experience at Diamante Eco Adventure Park in the Animal Sanctuary! The self-guided tour was fantastic as there was a guide around whenever we had a question that was able to inform us about every animal! The guides spoke great English and the shuttle was already ready to take us to another part of the park to get back to the lodge and our vehicle. Since it is not as busy as a regular zoo in the US and Canada the animals actually react when you stop to look at them. We got to witness feedings of many animals and it was great to see them so active and engaged with their enclosures. If you are an animal lover and have a few hours to explore this amazing park we highly recommend it!

Great experience. Learned a lot about the animals, their natural habitats and the reasons they were brought to the sanctuary.
This is a wonderful way to see some Costa Rican wildlife. We spent a couple of hours wandering and enjoying the animals, birds, butterflies, snakes and frogs. The guides working at each section were informative and very friendly. Gustavo (I believe) at the bird section was especially friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful morning here.
Wonderful experience. The butterfly hut was so cool. And how wonderful, we got to release newly hatched butterflies. I will forever be memorized by the blue butterflies. Feeding the sloth, Lilly, was amazing to watch.
We needed an activity with no iPads involved so we live right beside the area and decided to go to the sanctuary. We saw all the beautiful rescued animals living happily ever after.
Diamante Eco Adventure Park was AMAZING! 🐆🦥🐒🐊🦋🌿 We got to see jaguars, sloths, monkeys, crocodiles, toucans, butterflies, and so many other incredible animals! The entire family loved every minute of it. ❤️
The sanctuary was very well maintained. The animals all looked good. I was able to see the sloths at feeding time. Such a wonderful experience. I was disappointed that you can no longer walk through the bird sanctuary’s like it’s shown online.
Wonderful place to see native species and beautiful butterflies and botanical gardens. Guides and staff are wonderful and knowledgeable. Very clean and well maintained grounds and shuttle buses. Highly recommend!
The guides at Diamente are all very passionate and deeply knowledgeable about the animals in their care. This was evident from the beginning and their enthusiasm was contagious. Highly recommended for a family or couples! Proceeds go back into the special care these rescues require to thrive.
Beautiful experience. Very informative
This was a great chance to see the wildlife that exists in Costa Rica. It is self guided so you can take your time. It is hilly and even though there are ramps and stairs to choose from, know that it can be steep. Pictures can be difficult as there is a lot of glare on the glass enclosures. But a great experience. I gave meeting a low review as Nexus Tours goes resort to resort to pick up multiple guests. At one resort the driver spent at least 30 minutes trying to find the people catching our shuttle. This significantly cut into our time at the park. The driver did pick us up 30 minutes later than original pickup time after I made a verbal complaint.
Diamante was superb as always. From initial check-in to the last bus ride to the parking lot, the employees are friendly and helpful. The exhibits are very well curated, and the attention to detail is impressive. This place is a treasure.
Godd opportunity to see cr wildlife..a high end zoo..
Beautiful facility and very friendly staff! Ray did an excellent presentation for big cats. He was so knowledgeable! I loved the experience. All the staff really cared for the animals and were very knowledgeable.
This proved to be a great starting excursion for the entire family. The drive to and from the location was scenic and comfortable. Once there, Diamante Eco Adventure Park did not disappoint. A wide variety of Costa Rica's amazing flora and fauna were at arm's length, offering excellent photo-taking. All the wildlife appear well taken care of. The butterfly house was a hit. Also, the stroll through the park that terminates onto Diamante Beach was serene.
The park was clean, well organized and the staff were friendly. I enjoyed the Sloths 🦥 the most. It was feeding time so we got to see them move slowly around and eat their food. It was a great experience.
It is listed as a sanctuary but basically it’s a zoo. A lot of the exhibits were under renovation and so we missed a lot of the toucans, parrots, and other animal that my kiddo wanted to see. $144? IMO not worth the money for trip.
Cool place , super clean but very pricey for what it is .
Went on family vacation and our morning was open. Decided to book the animal sanctuary. It did not disappoint! We saw jaguars, ocelots, toucans, pumas, and monkeys, among others. The highlight of the visit were the sloths. They were in the open and so close!! They also offer zip lines, ATVs! Would highly recommend.
Very disappointed. Went there to see two animals. Sloth and toucans. You were supposed to be able to walk into there enclosure and both were closed for construction. They did not say anything about that I even said to the lady we are only here for the two Then go to see the sloths and both are up in the tree where u could even see them Very bad day on top of that it cost 110. For two people Drove 1hr and wasted over 150.00
The animal sanctuary is still maintained and well-staffed. There were lots of helpful staff around to answer questions. Lots of animals and you can get up very close. We spent 2-3 hours. It's basically a zoo but most animals are native. Nice way to spend a half day.
The experience was awesome seeing all the animals especially the Monkey's and the sloths
Free hotel pick up and drop off for Riu guests! Our cultural tour guide was awesome! We tried delicious coffee and chocolate! With our guide explaining each step of the process! Learning about sugarcane was very interesting and much recommended! The animal sanctuary was beautiful, lots of new animals you’ve probably never seen in person. It might rain because it’s a rainforest but don’t let it discourage you from going! It made the experience unforgettable in the best way possible! ¡Pura vida!
The sanctuary was great , staff was super friendly and very knowledgable about all the different animals . the park was super clean and the animals looked very well taken care of.
My two grandchildren say this should be rated A+. We got to see the processes of the coffee and the chocolate being made and we got to taste both as well as the sugar cane chewing! The animal sanctuary was very very nice!
It was an extremely hot day and most of the animals were sleeping during the mid-day peak. But we managed to see a few, enjoyed the grounds, and the buffet lunch was good, especially the chicken. Not sure if just the animal part is worth a dedicated trek here – they also offer zip lines, ATVs, and more – but it was on our way from the coast to the Liberia airport.
We were a little confused how to find our way around but, we figured it out. Sad the parrots were not on display due to renovation of their habitat.
We visited the animal sanctuary, walked down to the beach, and did the cultural experience and learned about the growing, harvesting, and making of cacao, sugar cane and coffee. Everyone was VERY nice and helpful. The entire experience was educational and entertaining and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the native animals and culture and sites of Costa Rica!
We met Lucy the sloth and watched her feeding during lunch. It was totally worth it. We took great photos. We moved at our own pace and enjoyed the beauty of wildlife. All the guides along the way were helpful and knowledgeable. Don't overlook the value of this sanctuary on your trip.
The experience was great. We saw all the animals and we saw Lucy get fed which was the highlight of the day. It was very hot but there was plenty of shade to help cool things down and for older adults the paths and steps are very easy to walk. All in all a great experience.
After hiking the cloud rainforest and seeing one butterfly, this place was perfect. We saw Morpho butterflies, monkeys 🐵, all types of birds, and finally sloths. It was very organized and the buses were wonderful climbing the hills so we didn’t have to. While we did not eat there, a lovely buffet was laied out along with a beautiful view.
One of the best "tours" for your money in Costa Rica. The staff was professional and informative. We really enjoyed our time spent at the Eco Adventure Park. We spent 3 hours exploring native animals in their own habitat. Watching the feeding of the sloths and the crocodiles was a highlight of the experience. We never felt rushed or crowded, we took our time while engaging the staff who were very friendly. This tour is good for all ages.
I went to this wonderful animal sanctuary where each animal has a story or rescue and purpose of being there. The enclosures are thoughtful and large. The staff truly appears to love their job and the animals they care for and salte very knowledgeable. We also saw wild monkeys in the trees while we were there. Great time and staff were all very nice and friendly.
This sanctury is really amazing! You get to see up and close the sloth and learn about them. The jaguar was especially amazing and never have been close and personal. Worth it! The butterfly enclosement was the best part. Beautiful blue butterflies.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The grounds and enclosures were very nice and well maintained.
Fully enjoyed our time in your eco park. When comparing costs with other attractions in Costa Rica it was good value for money. Your staff were very friendly and helpful. It was overall a very informative and relaxing experience for all in our family group from ages 73 down to 7.
We stayed at the Riu Palace. This excursion is just a 5minute ride from the resort and absolutely a must for your time in Costa Rica. The employees are kind and knowledgeable about the animals they care for. They give you a wealth of information on their culture, animal laws and the history of the animals that have come to the sanctuary. Don’t let this experience pass you by, you won’t regret it!
Great experience. Like a day out at the zoo but knowing all the animals could not survive in the wild made this a magic place.
My husband an I had a very informative and enjoyable time at the Diamante Park, We really enjoyed seeing the Jaguars and the Sloths as well as all the other cats and animals plus the butterflies, monkeys that are native to Costa Rica. We felt that the experience was worth the time and money spent.
Great time, cool spot! Lots of neat animals, knowledgeable staff. The animal sanctuary is a great place to see animals (toucans/wild cats/sloths) that are hard to spot in the wild.
We spent about 1.5 hours at the animal sanctuary only and I highly recommend it! Admission is not cheap but I felt good knowing that the animals are well cared for. The toucans and butterflies were my favourite, though it was all very impressive in terms of the variety of animals and well kept environment. One drawback was the glass environments for the frogs, lizards etc were very dirty so it was hard to see anything. We arrived in time on a Wednesday to see the sloth feeding at 9:30 and the jaguars and puma being released into their cages at 10. Staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were under the impression we were going to see some kind of enrichment activity with the jaguars but that didn’t seem to happen. Morning was a good time to be there before the midday heat and crowds. The gift shop was confusing as many items didn’t seem to have prices. All prices were in USD which was a nuisance because we had brought the local currency. There are shuttles that take you from parking to the reception centre and then down to the animal sanctuary. I wouldn’t recommend walking between these points as there are extremely steep inclines and no shade cover. Just wait patiently for the shuttle; they come around more frequently than the signs say.
Excellent animal viewing and animal habitats. The staff in each animal area was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. The ziplines look amazing as well. The lunch was very good as well.
I noticed this animal sanctuary advertising on the way from the airport to our hotel. Once we got to our hotel (Rui Guanecaste), I saw that this park was right next door. The online booking was very easy, just select your tickets, purchase, and fill out a waiver for everyone in your group. Then the hotel provided a shuttle to/from the park, and it was a very easy trip back and forth. The park itself was GREAT! We started at the visitor center where we had great views of the ocean and coastline. Then headed down to the animal sanctuary. We knew in advance that it was a self guided tour, but when we got to the visitor center they gave us a quick rundown of where to go, when certain feedings and speakers were happening for the big animals (sloth, jaguar). There were so many animals that were out and we were able to see, it was awesome! We had 3 generations with us, grandparents, parents and kids and everyone had a great time! The walk through the sanctuary was mostly shaded and there were lots of places to sit. Additionally, there was a bar/snacks for food and drink both for the kids and alcohol if you want. All-in, it was a great morning. Highly recommend! What I was extremely happy about was that all the staff were amazing, bilingual, very nice and patient with kids, AND all the animals were rescued animals. So it’s a true sanctuary for animals that cannot survive on the wild. It made us feel better about visiting and seeing them, knowing that they were well taken care of. Highly recommend this for a morning trip, just make sure to book and plan in advance (at least 1-day).
The staff was very knowledgable and eager to tell us about the animals. The grounds are beautiful!
Booked this while visiting adjacent RIU resort to kill an afternoon. Didn't realize the Diamante had tons of activities at reasonable prices. The animals seems very well taken care of! I saw a few lizards wondering around outside. Wished we had set aside more time in the vacation. If we return, Diamante will be our first stop.
Our overall experience with the park was very good. We particularly enjoyed the variety of animals and the quality of the information provided by the staff. We were somewhat disappointed that the glass of some of the enclosures was rather dirty making it difficult at times to see or photograph the animals.
If you want to experience many of the animals and reptiles of Costa Rica we highly recommend this park. Excellent helpful staff shuttle was fantastic to get to and from parking area as the area has steep inclines. The park is very well designed for young children and older adults with mobility issues as the park’s attractions are close distance to one another. The frog and toad exhibit is an absolute must for everyone to see. They have knowledgeable staff throughout the park to assist and answers questions. We would definitely recommend DelBrocco family
A beautiful sanctuary but note that if you go in March, 1-2 hours is more than enough time at the park (due to the heat). We opted for a 9:30am to 3:30pm shuttle from Playas de Coco but wished we’d chosen the 9:30-11:30 shuttle. The only feedback I have to offer Diamante is to offer more shuttles such as a 1:30 shuttle
Great people, knowledgeable staff at every turn. A fun learning experience for all ages. This was my 4th visit in the last 10 years, and it gets better every time.
We had a great visit at the sanctuary. The place was really clean. We could be close to some animals like the sloth and the toucans. We can stay as long as we want.
