Río Celeste Waterfall And Sloth Watching Tour From Guanacaste

We truly enjoyed this tour. We got to experience the beauty of the Rio Celeste and the NP. Throughout the NP and the sloth encounter portion of the day we got to see multiple eyelash pit vipers, a family of white-nose coati, sloths, a red-eyed tree frog, a few blue jean poison dart frog, and so much local flora and fauna. We got to enjoy the best pineapple we’ve ever had and a great lunch. All of this considered, the best part of the experience was our tour guide Jose. He was so knowledgeable and entertained all of our questions. This tour was unforgettable and we’ll be talking about it for years to come.

We had a fabulous excursion with Johan as our guide to the waterfall and Fernando showed us amazing wildlife (sloths, viper snakes, etc). It was an educational day and a great way to explore the ecosystem of Costa Rica. Highly recommend!

What experience? Got an email this morning saying our trip for this morning was refunded. We’re sitting here waiting for a pick up!!!!

Carlos and Orlando were excellent tour guides and took great care of us. We saw and learned about sloths and many other jungle creatures. We also had a coffee and chocolate tour and tastings plus swimming by waterfalls. It was a wonderful day with very attentive guides.

Our guide Gustavo was amazing! He was prompt for pick up at the hotel. He was very knowledgeable and made stops for photo ops and a fruit stand when time allowed. He was kind and funny and made sure we had a good time. We saw a family of Tapirs, a Three Toed Sloth, an Eye-lashed Pit Viper, the most beautiful Red Eyed Tree Frog, as well as many beautiful birds and flora/fauna. The authentic Costa Rican lunch was amazing. Highly recommend!

This was an amazing experience! Our guide, Gustavo, has a university degree in ecology. Very knowledgeable, and we checked off almost every animal on our wish list! Tapir, Sloths, Tree Frogs... Awesome service and super friendly people along the way. Highly recommended!

This was a perfect day exploring the rainforest. We were a group of 4, ranging from ages 2 to 65. We were picked up promptly and taken to a nice breakfast. We then headed to Parque Nacional Volcan Tenerio about 2 hours away. The van was new and clean. The hike was good. The guide was very patient with us, taking lots of breaks for my senior mom. Once we made it to the waterfall, it was very beautiful. We took some photos and headed back. Once we exited the park, we stopped at a local fruit stand for snacks. We then went to the sloth watching part of the tour. We saw about 5 sloths, including a baby hanging out by the water. We also saw some snakes, frogs, and lots of beautiful plant life. We had a deliciois lunch and stopped at a souvenir shop before being dropped back off at our hotel room. I highly recommend!

It was beautiful! Our guide was fabulous. We were taken to a local spot for breakfast, hiked in the rain forest down to the waterfall, off to the sloth sanctuary where we saw sloths, frogs, birds with a guide that was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Stopped at a local place for lunch. Highly recommend. We had the best time! Of note, we ranged in age from 19-64 and we all survived!

This tour was worth the cost. Full day trip to the National park with hike to Rio Celeste waterfall to witness its stunning beauty. We then had lunch at an authentic and nice restaurant with great food and service, followed by a wildlife walk on their grounds where we saw howling monkeys, toucans and sloths. The final stop was for a cacao and coffee tour which was also fantastic. Definitely recommend this experience with Nexus Tours.

Our experience with the tour company itself wasn’t a pleasant one. The day before I reached out to them multiple times to get the details around the meet up time, location, and driver. Never heard a thing. I ended up calling at 7 pm that night to get the details. The day of our tour, they had not provided security with the drivers details, so even with us staying onsite they wouldn’t let him in. The tour company’s solution was for me to work with the driver and security to get him through. We ended up losing an hour of our day because of this. Enrique our driver/guide was fantastic. Our day with him more than made up for the troubles on the front end. The tour itself was great, but my interaction with Aye tours was not.

This tour was so much fun and our guide Alonzo was so knowledgeable! The views were beautiful and breathtaking. Alonzo really made the hike memorable by pointing out all the wildlife. The sloth sanctuary was amazing and we were able to see so many animals! 10/10 would do again!

Great day the river is to cleeear , Lovely and beautiful sloth and tour special for kids my son see a tucan your preferred bird. Jungle life is nature place Recommending this tour

Tour was cancelled. We or Viator were not notified. Ruined a day of our Costa Rica trip. Do appreciate Viator determining why tour was cancelled and arranging our tour refund.

Our guide Armando was great. We had a wonderful experience and the restaurant for lunch had a fantastic view. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking to spend time at Rio Celeste.

Rio Celeste was beautiful & it is worth the walk down the steep steps (and back up) for the view of the waterfall & beautiful waters of blue/green! After the hike, our guide got us coconut water, pineappe, guava, and other fruits. Breakfast & lunch included! There is a great souvenir shop at breakfast! The sloth TOUR was incredible! Jorge was an excellent guide and took his time with us…even after the tour was over. He was great at capturing video & photos thru the binoculars on our personal phones and narrated what he was recording! Coffee & cookies available before & after.Free, but you can leave a tip!

The kindness shown to us by the tour guide was really appreciated. The sloth adventure was the real surprise. We learned so much about Costa Rica’s ecology and we were delighted to see 5 different sloths.

This was the thing I was most looking forward to on our trip to Costa Rica because it looked so beautiful. We drove to the Rio Celeste waterfall on our way from La Fortuna to Coco Beach...when we started our drive, it was raining lightly but as we got to the park, it started to rain heavily. We paid our $12, paid $2 for the boots, and took off in a downpour to hike the trail. We walked super fast thinking that if we got there quickly, there was still a chance the waterfall would be blue since it hadnt been raining for too long. Unfortunately, as we got close the waterfall (after about a 30 min super fast hike in drenched clothing and boots full of water) there was caution tape up indicating the trail was closed. We were really angry that we paid money to get in, and nobody told us the trail was closed. We bypassed the tape only to be stopped by someone who said the trail was closed because they were pouring concrete (not right then though because it was raining) and told us we could go back down and take this side trail that was pretty much just mud through the trees (no signs showing where this 'trail' was) but that it would bypass the waterfall anyway and the waterfall would be brown because it had been raining. Feeling totally defeated, we walked back to the beginning of the trail and tried to get our money back, which they refused because they said we could take the other muddy trail (that there were no signs saying where that trail even started???). Overall, I was super disappointed in this experience and it put a damper on our whole trip

Excellent tour, we were given everything we were offered the river was super celestial it was a hot day, the sloth tour is the best part we saw toucans, frogs and a danta we were lucky enough
