Marcelo was an outstanding naturalist guide. His knowledge and senselessness for sharing his environment is awesome.
Marcelo is a wonderful guide whose love for the land and its varied critters is infectious. This tour not only taught us about Avellanas wildlife; it was also a great life lesson about the the rewards that come from slowing down, looking, and listening.
I love the experience the marcelos vibe deep knowledge about nature and the place ! this place is magical
We had an amazing tour with Cello. He took us to a beach near Nosara where we got to watch thousands of sea turtles lay eggs. Without his inside knowledge of the area we wouldn’t have even known to look for this. Can’t wait to go back when the eggs start to hatch. Thanks Cello!
It was really great we saw some cool creatures and learned some very interesting facts about the wildlife of Avellanas and the beach/mangrove part was the best in my opinion because i had never walked the bridge near the mangroves. All in all great ( MUCHAS GRACIAS MARCELLO)!
We had such a great time with Marcelo while exploring the area around Avellanas Beach! He is truly passionate about the flora and fauna of the region, and we learned so much about the "Bosque Seco" (Dry Forest) and its incredible wildlife. Avellanas Beach itself is spectacular, and Marcelo even took us to a wooden bridge through the mangroves directly from the beach, where we got to see lots of amazing aquatic birds! I definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover the incredible nature and wildlife of the area.
Chello was an absolutely excellent guide. Very knowledgeable about the area & provided great insights for what to do with the rest of our trip.
Great experience with very knowledgeable guide.
It was a great experience for my family to have the opportunity to learn about the wildlife in this place and understand the dynamics of such diverse ecosystems as the tropical dry forest, mangrove forest, estuary, and intertidal beach zone. And Chelo is the best guide!!! knowledgeable, passionate, and wonderful at sharing the beauty of this environment.
Definitely recommend this fun and educational tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about all the vegetation, animals, and insects of Guanacaste and of Avellanas Beach. She taught us about the mangrove tidal forest and its importance to the ecosystem, as well as pointing out the sights and sounds of the wildlife.
Marcelo was wonderful! Very knowledgeable, curious, and kind. He was a delight to spend the time with. I don’t speak Spanish very well and his English was fantastic. We were able to see some really beautiful birds and learn really fascinating things about the ecology of Costa Rica! We’ll be scheduling more trips with him while we’re here!
Friendly, excited and extremely knowledgeable. Wonderful experience
This was the highlight of our trip! We took a really beautiful nature walk with guide, Casiana, who was amazing! She was very knowledgeable, friendly and happy to answer all our questions. The mangrove was my favorite part- learning about the trees and how they adapt to the sea water! We saw howler monkeys, spider monkeys, Motmots, Macaws (which was such a treat!), an Osprey - incredibly beautiful, and so much more. Casi made the nature walk so easy and you could tell how much she loved all of the incredible wildlife around us. We'd highly recommend this tour! We went on a private tour, but would also be great for small groups.
This personalized tour with Marcelo was incredible. His knowledge of the local ecosystem and various species was impressive. I learned so much from him and was able to spot so many different bird species thanks to his keen eye and ear! I would highly recommend this experience!
Definitely recommend this birding/nature experience. Marcelo picked us up and shared his abundance of knowledge on the birds, plants, trees, and the nature in this local area. It was a lot of fun, and we saw a vast number of birds in the mangroves and along the river.
Marcelo was a very knowledgeable guide about the plants and animals on the area. He really took the time to show us some amazing things and always explained them very well, and the walk itself was doable for most people with a basic fitness level. Highly recommend.
AMAZING!! My guide, Marcelo was very knowledgeable of the area and had a great eye for even the smallest creatures. If you want to get into the natural forest and mangrove, this is a great tour. Very easy to arrange and do
Very informative. Engaging personality and full of knowledge Used his scope and our cameras to get great photos. Would recommend Marcelo
We thoroughly enjoyed our nature tour with horseback riding with guide Chelo. He was very helpful in customizing a trip for us, and provided pick up and drop off at our hotel. The tour pricing was fair. Horseback riding through ranch lands and on the beach was truly a bucket list item! We stopped along the way to learn about and observe the beautiful plants and animals of the area, especially birds. We even spotted a spectacled owl! Thank you Chelo for a fabulous tour
This is a great tour and Chelo is the best tour guide!! I learned many things about the plants and animals that I never knew. Was very informative as well as a gorgeous view. The walk thru the wilderness was magical at sunset.
This has been one of my most amazing experience. I learned so much from our Tour Guide Chelo. I had fun observing the wonderful fauna and flora of Costa Rica's Guanacaste region. I recommend this and more tours we took for anyone, you will definitely love it!
Best trip I have had in a long time. Worked with Chelo and he far exceeded any expectations that I may have had. From pick up at the airport to drop off it was amazing. We surfed the most beautiful beach hiked the mangroves and went horseback riding. Nothing was left to chance and everyone we encountered was awesome. Would recommend 100%.
A fantastic nature walk by the very knowledgable Marcelo, to include mangroves, beach & dry forest. Our guide was able to show us wildlife we never expected to see! This company works towards conserving wildlife and protecting the natural habitat. Very good value. I would highly recommend this company 😊
Awesome and engaging experience! Our guide Marcelo was polite, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We saw lots of great wildlife - multiple species of bird (including a Motmot), as well as monkeys, crabs, and lizards. We also learned about some of the plants in the area. This was an engaging (but easy) hike through multiple environments - mangroves, beach, and coastal forest. Marcelo’s spotters scope allowed us to view animals from far away as though they were right in our face, and he is an expert at lining up the shot. He also took some great pictures and sent them to us.
Our excursion with José Pablo was one of the highlights of what was our first Costa Rica trip. José Pablo is an experienced and knowledgeable naturalist guide, whose English is perfect. On our walk through the Avellanas mangroves and estuary, he pointed out to us plants, animals and birds that we would not have found on our own. He taught us ways to locate the birds in the binoculars and scope provided on the tour. We must have seen over a dozen different species of birds -- egrets, ibis, plovers, herons, cuckoos, kiskadees and more. He found howler monkeys, including a newborn baby. It was thrilling! The beautiful winding path culminated at the Avellanas Beach just in time for a gorgeous sunset. Definitely put this excursion with José Pablo on your list! It was great!
Not a trip review, since we bailed at the last minute. Just wanted to thank the tour operator for helping us out and issuing a refund promptly.
Great local tour where Chelo our guide had lots of knowledge of the area, the plants & the animals. We did a private tour! Highly recommend!
It was an incredible experience, the guide was always providing information about the local flora and fauna and creating a friendly atmosphere!
Highly recommended tour, excellent guide, very attentive in explaining and answering our questions. A must-do activity if you visit Avellanas; it is a wonderful place.
It was great to know that our visit supports local conservation. Marcelo explained how part of the proceeds contribute to the protection of mangroves. The walk itself was beautiful, but knowing that our money went to something significant made it even better. Highly recommended!
