Private Morning Sail & Snorkel Tour

Lame. The crew doesn’t know how to sail. All the did was raise the main on the way back to port. They never once trimmed the sail and the crew member I spoke to did not even know what a jib was. They kept the motor on the entire time. They never raised the rear main sail and then claimed that there wasn’t enough wind to sail (there was about 7 knots), but they didn’t even try. This is not a sailing adventure. Lake. Don’t waste your time.

Peche, Riley, and Valon were great hosts aboard the Sea Bird. Peche snorkeled with us and pointed out star fish, puffer fish, and sea snakes and was patient with our slower snorkelers. Riley serves a terrific margarita and the signature drink, "Sea Bird." Our after-snorkel snak was wonderful - plantain chips, mini buritos, bean dip, guac, and salsa. This was a great experience.

Great snorkeling trip! Perfect day for it. Riley and his crew were great. Cold drinks and lunch was yummy. Pura Vida...hope to see you all again!

Staff was very welcoming. Drinks and lunch were included. Everything tasted excellent. While we did have a private experience, the sail boat was run down. One of the masts were broken so we never even got to sail. The Snorkeling was awful. Clarity of water was not good and the spot we were taken to was right on the beach. Jet skis were very close by and scared the fish away. We got the see monkeys up close which was super cool and staff worked well with us to accommodate what we wanted to do. In end the it wasn’t worth the money and we would not go again:/

Our sailing and snorkeling experience was awesome! We were able to see some stingrays and dolphins in the distance. The crew was attentive and helpful, providing guidance with the snorkeling and pointing out different fish and sea plants and animals. The beaches were stunning and full of wildlife. Open bar and snacks were served, it was a lot of fun! Booking with Wendy was easy and I look forward to my next adventure with her crew.

Cruising on a sailboat is a different experience than the catamarans; the sailboat is much more of an intimate experience with less people onboard. SeaBird will take you to different beaches that are not traversed by the regular Catamarans - beautiful beaches, tranquil, beautiful waters, good snorkeling. You can book a private tour for a full or half day, request a stop at one of the beaches for a BBQ lunch, make special requests for food and beverage. They can cater to you and your group.

We had a fantastic day! My first time on a sailboat. I can’t get over it! Want go out again on our next visit. My husband had sailed, but he thought it was exceptional as well. We would recommend Sea Bird excursion to anyone visiting Guanacaste Costa Rica. You won’t be disappointed!

Great experience, owners were friendly as well as knowledgeable and welcoming crew! The lunch they provided was delicious, many drink options for our group of 15. They went out of their way to assure we had the best hospitality while on the water. We saw whales, turtles, snorkled and swam. I highly recommend this excursion, if your not interested in getting in the water, relax in one of the hammocks and soak in the view and sunshine! Pura Vida

We booked a private morning sail and snorkel for our group of four. We all had a fantastic time! From the start, the communication was excellent with Wendy. She also welcomed us at the beach the morning of our sail. Dave and the crew were very attentive. helpful, and friendly. They made sure we were all comfortable, and frequently offered drinks and snacks (the fresh fruit was a hit!). We enjoyed the remote spot that they took us snorkeling. During the sail, we saw turtles, rays, and a humpback whale (with her calf)! This was one of the first activities we did when we arrived in Costa Rica, and a wonderful way to kick off our vacation! It was a wonderful way to see everything and take in the beauty of Costa Rica while the crew pointed out many areas of interest. We would definitely book another trip with SeaBird Sailing! Thanks for an amazing time!

UNSAFE! My family of 6 capsized completely dumping all of us into shallow water with the boat coming ashore. Very little concern about safety. Lost bags, electronics ruined not to mention being banged up. Our private all day tour was a huge disappointment . Dave the owner? Was more like a passenger only providing a little info and discussion at first. Hardly talked after that. Going below deck easily showed what lack of pride in ownership of a boat. Wendy and Dave bought Seabird 3 years ago and moved from Colorado. I don’t think they have much experience boating. First stop was snorkeling and our beach bbq. Snorkeling was cloudy and very little to see. No guide to help. BBQ lunch was the worst meal I had entire visit to Coco. Had to eat on our laps with plastic chairs, no table. We called the main dish chicken mush, nothing bbq about it. Desert was on the boat and was kids cookies out of a wrapper. While on the beach the crew actually lost the dinghy for a bit when the crew had jumped out while the motor was running. Captain had to go running down the beach to get it. We actually had to wave them down from shore when all the crew was in the main boat to pick us up. At the next stop some of us wanted to stay on the boat and they said it was the crews lunch break and we should all go ashore. I guess they didn’t want any of the chicke mush earlier, plenty of it was left over. Towards the last few hours the crew looked like they had no idea what to do. They would ask us what to we wanted but had very little idea what the options could be miles off shore with limited time. Because no one was really enjoying themselves, crew our quests we ended up going in early an hour or so. Remember we capsized when coming back with over 1000$ in lost goods, luckily very little physical harm. Wendy made a minimal offer of a couple 100$ refund and said we had signed wavers releasing them from liability. UNSAFE and disappointing!

We had a really nice time. The crew was very friendly and helpful, and we were able to snorkel and spend a little time on some great beaches. Our only regret was not booking for the whole day, but we waited until the last minute. Would go out with them again next time we’re in Costa Rica.

This was an amazing morning at sea. Dolphins joined us twice to socialize and we were able to sail a good portion of the trip. The crew was knowledgeable and friendly and pointed out highlights along the way. It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip. Glad I did it and would highly recommend to others.

This was a snorkling excursion around the beaches of playa del coco. Since we had a occurence of red tide that morning, the captain took a little while to find a reef for snorkling that was free of it. The crew was very helpfull and we had a good time. We did some sailing and fishing and the refreshments were perfect. Thanks to all.

We held my Husbands 73rd Birthday aboard he Sea Bird, my guest had never been on the boat they were impressed with the Owners, and the crew . We were served and waited on Hand and foot. We had a barbecue on the beach, the food was superb, the beach we went to was amazing, We would definitely rent this boat again for a day in the sun. What fun we all had. Wonderful !!!

The entire experience was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Wendy was helpful throughout the booking process and was personally waiting to greet us when we arrived. Dave and the crew (Andre & Osvaldo) were attentive to all of our needs as well as informative during the trip (our group has lots of questions). It was a rough day to snorkel so we just dropped anchor and enjoyed the beach and water. We were perfectly fine with that but the crew wasn’t. On the trip back in, they found a different spot and made sure we got some time in the water to see the marine life. While on board, the music was great, the snacks were plentiful and your drinks were always full. I couldn’t recommend the Sea Bird and her crew any more highly. If / when we return, we will absolutely take the same trip. Thank you guys so much for your hospitality from the booking till the end of our trip. It was a blast

This trip was a highlight of our time in Costa Rica. Wendy was so helpful setting things hp for us, and also gave us a great dinner rec too. Dave, Andre and Osvaldo were a great crew and took excellent care of us from start to finish. We highly recommend booking the Sea Bird!

We opted for a a full day private sail and snorkel experience. Awesome day doesn’t do it justice. Dave and his crew made the entire a Day an unforgettable experience from the relaxing sail to a private beach we had an amazing home cooked lunch prepared by Wendy complete with a beach barbecue. After a great day snorkeling swimming and exploring the sea caves we had a leisurely & wonderful sunset cruise back enjoy music cocktails & Wendy’s spicy local shots . We actually landed a tuna on the way back that the crew turned in to a spur of the moment sashimi feast . Great times and wonderful people The Blairs & Shorts

Our whole group really enjoyed the sailing tour. Our favorite part was visiting the private beach and playing in the cave. Wendy was very helpful and made sure all our needs and requests were met.

The trip on the sailboat to the Island beach and caves was awesome. The crew was great and provided snacks, drinks, and good conversation.

Dave, Wendy and their staff were all amazing! Andres took great care of all of our belongings and served us delicious drinks. Dave led us snorkeling and shared fun facts with us as we sailed to our snorkeling destination. We all had an incredibly memorable time and felt that we were in genuine company. Definitely do not miss this! Incredible views, fun sail, great drinks, overall 10/10!

Celebrated our friends 50th in Costa Rica and spent the day sailing and snorkeling with Wendy and her crew! The day was absolutely magical with the sail out to a private beach for snorkeling where the crew did a BBQ of fish and chicken along with the best bean salad I have ever had! Lots of fish and sea turtles! The boat crew was so accommodating and kept our drinks flowing all day. Thank you to Wendy, Dan and the guys for an amazing day on the water!

The cruise was awesome! I planned a three-week trip to Costa Rica with my girlfriend and thought I would use the time to get another small thing out of the way: our engagement! I let Wendy know in advance and she went ALL OUT to ensure that the day was special. I asked for a romantic setting and I was not disappointed. The flower shops in town were either out of flowers or overpriced, so Wendy offered to bring flowers from her garden for the occasion. It was a much-appreciated intimate touch! We set sail from the beach, drifting past beautiful oceanic views and monkey head island whilst sipping cocktails and enjoying freshly cut fruit. Just before the sunset, we went to the back of the boat to enjoy alone time in the hammocks while Wendy prepared the front of the boat for the surprise. Once I got the cue, we went to the front of the boat and were welcomed with a spread of flowers, champagne, and the ring that I had tucked away in my bag (I told Wendy where it was beforehand). Perfect execution! The unparalleled hospitality that Wendy, her husband, and their two crewmates exhibited was a great introduction to Costa Rica and especially to our new chapter in life.
