Private Catamaran Tour On Marlin Del Rey

Best day ever! Communication before tour was prompt and informative. Pick up was smooth. The captain and crew were friendly and accommodating. We had a group of 17 with lots of kids and they didn’t seem to mind at all. They helped kids get drinks, snorkel gear, and pool noodles. They helped them do a little fishing and even let them jump off the side of the boat into the water. Lunch was plentiful and delicious! Chicken, rice, black beans, chips and pico, and homemade cookies! The bar service was great! They made pina coladas, margaritas, rum slushies, gin and tonic, etc… The views were gorgeous, the water was warm, and we saw lots of sea life. You won’t be sorry if you book this trip.

We enjoyed the afternoon Marlin del Rey Catamaran Tour from Tamarindo. The trip itself was well done. About an hour out, then swimming and snorkeling for those that want, a very good buffet lunch with chicken, good open bar, and an hour back with arrival timed to coincide with sunset. We did not see any dolphins, or seals, or any other wildlife. No need to pay for anything on board, and no need to bring water. Overall we were very satisfied.

Awesome trip. Recommended to me by a local. Yuedy and Jorge, two of the deck hands, made the experience even better. They made sure everyone was safe, had unlimited drinks and tasty food (could even get seconds or thirds). Snorkeling was okay. Watched the beautiful sunset. 95$. Left at 1:30, got back around 6ish in January. Would recommend!

Our excursion on the Marlin Del Ray was fantastic. Ship to shore transportation was easy and stress free. On-board service was outstanding. Friendly staff, excellent service and terrific food! We had a great tiem and captured many amazing sunset pics!

We had a wedding celebration with all of our close friends on a private catamaran. We danced, sang, and laughed in the sun! The open bar was lavish with all the drinks and cocktails you could think of. We swam in the Pacific when it began to rain, so magical. It was a great way to start off the wedding weekend. We felt safe, the boat was clean, there was plenty of areas to sit and the staff was incredibly friendly. I would highly recommend.

We were a group of 20 women traveling together and booked this sunset cruise. The transportation to the boat was punctual and comfortable, the crew was super friendly and professional, and the lunch and drinks were delicious! The snorkeling was fun and the water temperature was delightful. We had a significant rain shower on our way back but that didn’t stop us from having a really great time. Highly recommend this tour!

For the exorbitant prices in Costa Rica, this tour felt really well priced. The 4hours long tour was the right lenth, the boat was big and super clean, the food and open bar was A+ and the crew was amazing and could make a party out of the day. Also we where only 10 so it didnt feel too crowded. Also the communication with the company is easy and fluid. They brought us to this secret incredible beach were we snokled. We really felt the crew cared about us as they made sure we where ok by staying near us on a paddle board. Once they felt we where all good swimmers they got back to the boat and let us do our thing. At the end they catched a fish with a line, made US take it out of water and even offered it to us ! Over all it was a really great experience, and looked even more fun that the other trips from other companies we saw. I would highly recommend Marlin del Rey and left the day with amazing memories

This tour was great the boat was a phenomenal relaxing experience and the staff was very friendly. The drinks and lunch were delicious. The fish we saw were very vibrant and colorful.

The catamaran tour was the perfect cap to a great destination wedding. We hosted 40 people for this sunset cruise. Felipe and the crew took extraordinary care of us, assuring that we safely played in the water, enjoyed a fabulous lunch, and sipped on home-made pina coladas. We even saw a school of dolphins!

This excursion was the highlight of our visit to Playa Hermosa. The views were absolutely gorgeous, the guides were very friendly and knowledgeable and the drinks and lunch were delicious. We especially enjoyed the snorkeling adventure where we saw a variety of tropical fish and even got to hold a puffer fish! To top it off, we got to see a mother and baby whale as well as dolphins that rode along side the boat on our return! Highly recommend!!

The staff was super nice! The views were incredible and we enjoyed swimming to the beach off the boat with the kids. Cocktails were delicious too. Would definitely recommend during a stay to Tamarindo!

This was my 6th time on Marlin Del Rey. I booked it in Playa del Coco. I absolutely love this Catamaran. It is not HUGE, so even when booked full you don't feel overwhelmed. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful, and I have had fun on every trip. I HIGHLY recommend the Marlin Del Rey!

Great tour. Great value. Awesome experience. Extremely friendly staff serving drinks thought. Lunch was better than expected with chicken l, rice, fruits and more. I am glad we went through our hotel and not the"guy" on the beach. Only thing I would have loved if the were using the sail which they didn't.

This is a great way to spend the day out in the water. The group was great and we were all treated well with food and drinks. We met a lot of people who were very friendly and had great travel mindset.

David and his crew on the New Marlin were absolutely amazing! We did a private full day charter with 18 adults and 22 kids that are all really good swimmers. On top of making us laugh, working the bar, and taking us snorkeling they made us feel so safe. With 22 kids you can never have too many eyes watching. They were very discreet but you could see how everyone would position themselves around the boat when we were all swimming so that every person was accounted for. The food was delicious and hit the spot perfectly! I can’t say enough about how amazing our day was. The boat is huge and has tons of shade to keep you protected if the sun isn’t your thing. We also saw lots of dolphins while sailing. This was our second charter with Marlin Del Ray and I’m sure there will be a third!

Wevtoor the sunsetbtour from Playas del Coco. It was a very relaxing and pleasant way to spend an afternoon. The snorkeling was very enjoyable and the staff were very fixed on keeping people safe. The food was as advertised and very plentiful. Drinks were readily available but not overboard. The motor back to Coco as the sun set was extremely pleasant.

The excursion was solid. I would have rated it a "5" if we were able to see more fish. The lack of fish may be due to a number of reasons but overall I would recommend the tour. The staff was great- they accommodated a ton of people and did it with a smile and seemed genuinely happy to take care of everyone. The ride was comfortable as it pertains to the water. If you are older or need a seat, they may be in short supply since there were a lot if people on the boat. We were able to see a whale in the distance and the sunset was beautiful.

The catamaran cruise was absolutely spectacular! The wedding party had an amazing time and it was a highlight for sure! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing time - took the cruise with three coupes as part of a birthday trip. The open bar was a great touch, food was excellent, and the crew and staff were attentive the entire trip. Would 100% recommend as an experience in Guanacaste.

First the positive: the day was beautiful for a big boat ride; the vibe on the boat was pretty good (although not quite enough shady seats for people) - good music and good drinks. That was mostly enjoyable. However, I must say the snorkeling stop was what I would consider somewhat reckless for the guests who may not know what they are getting into. For anyone thinking about this, the guides don't bother to ask if you are a first time snorkeler or give proper instruction. I suppose naively I expected them to pull up in shallow water and you can go out as far as comfortable. No - the boat stops in the middle of deep Pacific ocean for the snorkeling, but most importantly, the guides don't run through how to properly put on the snorkel (again, for first timers), or how to properly use the "noodles" to float. I did not know how to use either. So yes - I can swim just ok (not a good floater), and I did; but I spent all the time in the water making sure current didn't get me too far from the boat to even focus on enjoying the experience and looking for fish (with a snorkel I didn't know how to use properly). More guidance and warnings would have been much appreciated before the experience.

Experience ( boat condition, views on tour, staff responsiveness) was somewhat below average compare to similar tours in Cancun and Cabos. One star rating is driven by the fact that 10 of our 47 paying wedding guests had to eat rice and beans for lunch in addition to me and my new wife. This happened even though 3 of our guests couldn’t make it last minute. When I brought up my frustration to the captain for the lack of chicken given that the tour costed us about $5,000, he replied that $5,000 was nothing there (costa Rica) and he couldn’t do anything for us. I highly recommend to look elsewhere as I wouldn’t want anyone to be treated with such disrespect.

We hired Marlin del Rey to take us and our close friends out on a private half-day charter on November 6, 2022. Sadly, we woke up that morning to heavy wind and rain. I grew up in the Florida Keys and am a very experienced boater - I thought surely, Marlin del Rey was going to cancel our charter due to the unsafe conditions of the weather. However, that morning I received an email that they were all set for us and ready to go. I told them we didn't feel comfortable going, but they said it was too late to cancel and no refund would be provided. NEVER have I worked with a sporting company that would not offer a refund due to unsafe weather conditions. A few of my friends and I decided to wait a few hours and see what would happen - the rain died down a bit, so we thought, what the heck? If they think it's safe let's go ahead and go. Only half of the original group went out the boat and it was a horrendous experience. The wind and waves made the boat extremely uncomfortable. Half of the people on the boat were vomiting overboard and it was clear the staff were very uncomfortable too. We also could not see a thing due to the rain storms and rolling sea. After about 45 minutes the staff suggested we turn around and head back in and we all agreed. On this half-day charter we were supposed to enjoy the following highlights: Snorkeling in crystal clear waters Delicious lunch prepared by our outstanding crew Tropical drinks from our open bar Wildlife sightings include dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish, or even a breaching whale Unfortunately, we did not get to experience even one of these things and what could have been an otherwise relaxing day was ruined by this companies insistence that we go on with the charter. They have offered us no apology or compensation. I highly recommend booking your Costa Rica charter with a company that will make reasonable accommodations for weather and who will ensure you are given the experience you paid for.

It was smooth sailing all day w Marlin. Nice clean boat. Engaging and skilled staff. Loved that we actually sailed and took the time to seek out wildlife. Good meal. Easy boat entry and exit. Beautiful area. Winds had stirred up water so snorkeling was not good. Did have good equipment.

Great boat and crew. The ship was massive. The food and drinks were good and plenty. Perfect day and trip. We shopped around and the Marlin del Rey was the best private boat out of Tamarindo and the best price. Thank you. Can't wait to do this again next year!

What a spectacular experience from start to finish. We were treated like Kings. We left on time ,always felt safe. We will definitely repeat.

This is our third time to Tamarindo Costa Rica and our third time to go on Marlin Del Rey. We have always had a good time just the right amount of drinks flowing not like a big party cruise but not slow and boring either. The food was great. The view was great. The snorkeling was great. The sunset was great. Everything was great, but we really made it special for the crew. Everyone from the captain to the rest of the crew are top notch !! A special shout out to Diego. he really took an interest in talking to us and making us feel like we were family. Shout out to him. Great times won’t miss this excursion anytime we come to Tamarindo .

We booked a private catamaran for our wedding party and it was the most amazing trip ever. The team (Felipe, Luis, Gerardo, Yeudy, Dilan) made us feel right at home and safe the second we stepped on the boat. The boat itself, the music, the views, the sailing route, and the vibes were all perfect from cast off to sundown. In the middle of the tour, we were given the opportunity to swim, snorkel, visit a private beach, or just sunbathe which was a good break during sailing. They then served us a great lunch washed down with some more pina coladas. We arrived back at our hotel just as the sunset. What an amazing time!! If you are interested in sailing in Guanacaste, Marlin Del Rey is a must call!!

Our trip with Marlin del Rey was wonderful. We did a morning catamaran with our company (Krain Costa Rica). Every member of the crew was happy and kind, and they took pride and joy in serving us onboard. The minute you get onboard, you hear the fun music and are served drinks (at 9 am…so many options!). We were told it was not just about getting to our destination, but also about what we will see on the way. We had dolphin sightings, and they ensured that we stayed nearby the pod for a bit to watch. We thought we were going out to find an excellent spot to snorkel, but they also had SUPs and kayaks we could use when we got to our remote destination. One of the crew took us out snorkeling and we saw many tropical fish. When we got back on board, lunch was ready for us. If you are searching for a great catamaran trip, book Marlin del Rey!

The caramaran, crew, and food was awesome. The whole sunset experience was great… except the snorkeling. At least on the day we went (and I understand it’s quite dependent on the weather conditions, though it was sunny and not too stormy for us), the original reef they wanted to take us was going to be too wavy, so we went to a calmer bay. This was overrun with lots of other snorkelers, and there wasn’t any reef. Just rocks on the bottom of the ocean, all we saw was sea urchins and the occasional fish. The water was so cloudy that you could only see ~2ft in front of you, and to see anything you had to dive about 8ft down. Wish we had some clear water and a less crowded ‘reef’ since we paid for a snorkel catamaran.

The staff was nice, the boat was fine, the food and drinks were all good; but big catamaran tours are not the best option really for anything except meeting strangers. We were looking for some beautiful scenery, snorkeling, and a fun atmosphere. This Marlin del Rey tour delivered on some fronts, but fell short on others. Overall, this was really a 3-star experience for me, but giving it 4 since if you're looking at catamaran tours, this is a good one. First the good. While not billed as a booze cruise, drinks were good, and the staff wasn't stingy with them. The food was also good and plentiful. Nothing special, but a bit better than what you'd expect for a tour like this. Nice views of the coastline and the guests were all friendly. Highlight was the pod of dolphins swimming in front of the boat for about 10 minutes. On the downside, the snorkeling was terrible. We spent two hours heading north along the coast looking for a cove that didn't have red tide or other tours jockeying for a spot to drop anchor. We ended up in Brasilito Bay, which is about where we left from on a small snorkeling trip we took with Life Is Better At Sea (which was awesome). Because the catamaran is so large, it can't get you close to the good snorkeling along the shore and in the tide pools, and because there are so many people, if the spot isn't any good it's a major production to get everyone back in the boat to find another spot. It was a work-out getting from the boat to the shore, where there was nothing to see. So, total bust on the snorkeling front. Overall, the price was fair and we had a good time, but I'd recommend you figure out what it is you are really looking for before booking this (or similar) tours. If you want a slow cruise to nowhere along the Guanacaste coastline, a party atmosphere with decent drinks and food, and a chance to swim around in the ocean for an hour, this is a good call. If you want great snorkeling or to spend time with a small group of family and friends, recommend your find a smaller boat with more personal service and a captain that knows the best snorkeling spots.

Awesome private sailing day! Staff of 3 were excellent: friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, polite. Food and drinks (alcohol and non alcohol) were great and plentiful. Overall, great experience.

We were sold tickets without letting us know that there was Red tide. The tour was supposed to include the catamaran with snorkeling, swimming, sunset and food. We were not taken to go snorkeling because of the Red tide. We were taken to go swimming but of course the other couple that was with us and my husband and I did not go in. I feel ripped off since we paid full price for only part of the activities. I wrote to Marlin Del Rey but I have not heard back from them. The crew was excellent and the only reason why I gave the 3 stars. The ticket office should inform the customers of the red tide so the customers can decide, or offer the catamaran cruise just as a sunset cruise with a reduced rate.

We had the most amazing time on the boat tour. We were lucky enough to see dolphins and sea turtles! The staff, the vibes, the drinks and the food was amazing. Don’t choose any other company because marlin del Rey has the best sunset catamaran experience.

We opted for the private catamaran and it was probably the best decision I’ve ever made (save for marrying my husband). The captain and crew were so awesome (Captain Rudy, John, Orlando, Julio). This was our third time booking a catamaran with Marlin Del Rey, so we already knew the food they serve on board would be delicious. We were a travel group of 9 adults, and everyone agreed that this was an experience we’ll never forget. Thank you again for making memories with us that we’ll cherish always!
