Great reliable service. I needed airport transporation under 24 hours (which I don't recommend), but Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours communicated with me and help me and my family out. It was clear what we needed to provide regarding our arrival and the entire service from airport gretting to the driver was great. Appreciate their effort to communicate and get what we needed.
This company scammed me into paying directly through PayPal when I n eded to reschedule airport pickup due to flight delays. Our original flight to LIR was canceled, the next day weather left us stuck on layover overnight, so I changed flight to arrive in SJO. Owner agreed to refund on Viator if I rebooked and paid via PayPal. He sent Viator refund but required “friends and family” PayPal which (I now know) doesn't give any purchase protection or allow for disputes. Next day they canceled both the airport pickup AND return drop-off, promising to send a breakdown with a refund of any amount I paid in excess of their “cost.” It’s been over a week and they sent nothing; they instead chose to steal over $680 from us.
Very polite, super easy to get picked up. However, the actual ride was VERY jerky and made 1 of our group members physically motion sick.

We had a great experience using Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours for our private shuttle to and from the Liberia airport in Costa Rica to our VRBO in Playa Grande. It was easy to book, and they provided excellent communication throughout. Jose our driver was on time and allowed us to stop and pick up some supplies at a large grocery store which I would recommend doing.
We received excellent service on our ride from the airport to Tamarindo. The driver was very engaging and we had great conversations. They went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience even by stopping and picking up snacks and drinks for the ride. I would highly recommend!

Bianco was waiting at the airport with a sign with my name on it and walked out party to the shuttle van, which was very nice. Bianco was very personable and used all of his local knowledge and expertise to get us to Tamarindo more quickly than the stated time ranges.

If I could give zero stars I would. Liberia Airport closed for 2 hours and I was diverted until it re opened. The company charged me a re-booking fee because I was delayed over 3 hours. Hello the airport was closed!!!!! Avoid.. total racket.

The nicest and most accommodating ride and the best price! They are waiting for you by name outside the airport, will make grocery store and fruit market stops for you on the way. Wi-Fi available cold water beer etc! Do great

I used PlayaGrande shuttle tours to get to the airport. Ariel picked me up and was such a delight. The long drive flew by thanks to his wonderfully engaging conversation. He had cold drinks for me for the drive and was very accommodating when I realized I had forgot my phone and we had to turn around and go back to get it. I will definitely book a tour with this company when I go back.
The transfer was easy to arrange and they monitored our flight and adjusted to the changes appropriately. Our flight arrived late but our driver was outside waiting for us as soon as we arrived. The van was clean, air conditioned and comfortable and the ride was as smooth as it could be. Would 10/10 recommend and use them again myself!
Playa Grande shuttle did a fantastic job picking us up at the airport. Our driver was easy to spot once we cleared customs ( sign with out name) and the van was plenty large enough to handle our family of 4 with luggage and surfboards. Our return trip was also perfect. On time pick up and large nice van.
Both of my drivers were on time. The shuttle was clean and cold drinks were available. My return shuttle driver showed me some unique sights and experiences (local industry, great local eateries). Driver was on-time with my name on a sign at the airport. Private van, as promised. Friendly on the drive without being invasive. Stopped at a cafe 1/2 way so we could get coffee/juice/snacks/use the restroom. Provided bottled water.
Excellent experience. There was a representative standing directly outside of the airport waiting for me. He promptly showed me to my car. The driver was courteous and safe. The van was new, clean & had great air conditioning. The drive took me to a restaurant where I was able to get some food to go. Would absolutely recommend!
I had been working with Ariel the owner and Salem the reservation manager for a year to plan my sisters birthday celebration in La Fortuna. They were super responsive and timely in their communication. Prices and suggested updates to my itinerary was great. On the day of travel, I missed my flight due to extremely long security wait time and as a result, I had to rearrange my pickup date, confirm pick for the others that got there before I did and rearrange all our excursions that were planned with Playa Grande. The were very accommodating with the changes we had to make and worked with individual places on our behalf to have them change dates at last min. Many has no change or cancellation within 24hr, so I was appreciative that Ariel and his team could work on our behalf. The shuttle service offered was superb and safe and big kudos to our friendly driver Jose. He is one of the most humble people and was very informative on our drive. I would highly recommend them!!

We had Jose as our driver and he was so incredibly kind! He greeted us with local beer and waters for our trip to tamarindo, and was even sweet enough to stop on the side of the road to show us monkeys up in the trees! Worth every penny. Would use again, and certainly would recommend. And make sure to ask for jose!
I visited Costa Rica the first week of August 2021. Prior to landing in the country, I booked a shuttle with Playa Grande Shuttle & Tours to pick up my family and me from Liberia Airport. Considering that the location I planned to stay in for my trip was an hour and 30 minutes away from the airport, the total roundtrip cost for a family of 5 people was reasonable. The experience was wonderful! Ronny was our guy! As soon as we exited the airport, Ronny was waiting for us with a sign that had my name on it. He greeted us with a welcoming hello, and walked us over to our private shuttle. As soon as we got in the van, he gave us an ice-cold Bohemia (beer)! The whole ride to our Resort was fun! He kept us entertained by telling us about himself and his profession as a tour guide. He told us so many beautiful things/facts about his country (Costa Rica), and also had a great sense of humor! He kept my family and I laughing, as well as asking him lots of questions about his knowledge! Right before dropping us off to our destination, he suggested if we were interested in booking any day-tour activities while on vacation to contact his boss. That is exactly what we did! We booked for Ronny the day next day for The Tenorio Volcano National Park day-tour hike. It was easy! I contacted his boss via WhatsApp, told him I wanted Ronny to be my tour guide & it was set! Our drivers were friendly and were on time. The first driver we had stopped at a small restaurant on the way after we noted that we liked trying local foods when traveling. We didn't know why we were stopping but he came back with two to-go orders of food for our group, which was amazing. If you are adult, the ride includes beer, which was kind of nice as well.

Had the pleasure of working in Tamarindo and when I asked some of the locals for an airport shuttle rec they sent me to Ariel with Playa Grande Shuttle. He responded immediately and was super friendly. The price is super reasonable and the ride was comfortable. Jose was my driver and he was basically perfect. Showed up early, drive safely and got me there early with no issues. The ride was clean and new and plenty of space. Not sure when I'll get to come back but when I do I'll 100% text Ariel again.
