Upon departing, you will leisurely sail along the Gold Coast enjoying some of the vast, abundant and varied sea life found along our shores. Some of the sea life you hope to encounter includes whales, dolphins, turtles, flying fish, rays and a wide variety of seabirds. If conditions permit, you will also throw a few fishing lines off the back in the hopes of hooking into one of the many game fish that ply our waters. Eventually the catamaran pulls into one of the many secluded bays in the area and you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the warm Costa Rican waters. Life vests, pool noodles, snorkel equipment and stand up paddle boards are available should weather conditions permit. For those passengers not wanting to get wet the catamaran is a great place to relax in the shade of the huge main salon or lounge in the sun on one of the many open deck areas.
A light lunch is served at approx. 4:30pm including the following: BBQ Chicken or Pasta Salad, yellow rice, black beans, fresh Fruit Plates, chips (Doritos, Lay’s, Cheetos and Tostitos), fresh made Pico de Gallo and homemade chocolate chip cookies using our Grandma's favorite recipe. This tour also includes a premium open bar, that includes: Soft Drinks: Pepsi, Ginger Ale, 7 Up, Toronja (Fresca), tonic, soda and bottled water. Juices: Orange, mixed fruit juice , cranberry, apple and tomato juice. Beer: Imperial, Miller and Coors Light. Liquor: Flor de Caña Rum, Absolut Vodka, Jack Daniels Whiskey, Tanqueray Gin, Jose Cuervo Tequila and Cacique Guaro. Wine: Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon and Frontera Sauvignon Blanc. Then sail across the bay and back towards your departure point. You'll arrive at port as the sun nears the horizon and the sky explodes into a multitude of colors. Passengers disembark on the sands of Tamarindo or Playa del Coco.
Excellent crew and trip. We enjoyed whale watching, turtle and flying fish! Snorkeling followed by lunch and open bar made this trip great. We enjoyed talking to the crew and they kept the drinks flowing!
Great outing to do with very friendly staff! We had communicated a few times in the lead up, and they were very quick to respond and make sure everything was answered (we needed gluten free food for the outing). Was a little tricky finding them on the beach, but everything was smooth from that point on. Clear instructions to get out to the catamaran and a professional, fun, friendly crew. Delicious drinks, great music, and informative guides. Bathrooms on board clean, and vessel in great condition. Beautiful tour, and they were attentive to the weather to make sure we didn't get caught out. Delicious drinks (you could get anything at all you wanted) and helpful staff - they pointed out some dolphins and drove us alongside them for a bit. Once we stopped to snorkel, they make sure to keep an eye on everyone in the water. Great snorkeling equipment, even though we didn't see many fish on our day (thought they had seen a tiger shark just a couple of weeks before our trip, ask Felipe for the video!). Great food with plenty of servings, and they were always ready with a smile or to share about their personal experiences and favorites around Costa Rica and Tamarindo. Highly recommended!
Great trip. Awesome friendly crew. Good drinks good food. Beautiful little cove to see rays, pufferfish, turtles and the guide saw a small nurse shark in the rocks.

Food and drinks were great. Boat ride was amazing, the boat was big, comfortable and clean. It wasn’t the best snorkeling but that could have been partially due to the weather, it was quite windy. It was a bit more of a party crowd than we would have preferred.
It was well represented by how it is promoted. We did not see any whales or dolphins but the sunset was beautiful.
My husband and I had a great time. The guides where very knowledgeable and the drinks and food were great. We saw turtles, dolphins and lots of different kinds of birds. The snorkeling was ok, the surf was a little rough so we only saw a little but the sunset made up for the lack of underwater experience. We have taken this tour 2 other times and definitely recommend it for families, couples and groups looking to enjoy the sights from the ocean. There where a few smaller kids 2-4yo that I don't think enjoyed it as much. The boat isn't that big and as a parent I would hate to chase a toddler around on a moving potentially slippery boat.
If you enjoy boating and drinking, this is a great option. If you really want to spend your time snorkeling, try something else. They drop you in very deep, choppy water with a pool noodle and give you a few minutes to enjoy the fish.
Fantastic trip. Well organised and friendly staff. Food was tasty and served prompt at 4pm. Bar was included. My husband enjoyed the cocktails and me some white wine. The Snorkelling was excellent loads of colourful fish.i had to borrow a snorkel which was straightforward and they had enough for whoever needed them. And Dolphins were spotted on the way back. Just a tip, you don’t need shoes and we got wet on the boat tender back. And the sunset!
We added this experience to our honeymoon, and it was a great choice! The crew was friendly, and there were staff walking around offering drinks from the very beginning, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The only thing to note is that there was no snorkeling.

We had a most incredible day sailing, sunning, swimming and snorkeling with Marlin Del Rey. Pickup on Coco Beach was super easy and the value for the trip was excellent. Scenery is priceless. We saw a pod of dolphins jumping out of the water while we sailed. The boat was super comfortable, with plenty of space. Our family's favorite part was anchoring and swimming around the most gorgeous cove. Our son jumped off the boat about a million times with joy. The lunch, drinks and crew were all top notch! Would highly recommend to others and is a must do experience while in the guanacaste beach areas.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience. The biggest concern was safety—there were no life jackets available, which is a fundamental requirement for any snorkeling excursion. We had also requested a vegetarian meal when making the reservation and were assured it would be provided, but no vegetarian option was available during the trip. That was frustrating and avoidable. The snorkeling itself was underwhelming. There were virtually no fish or other marine life to see, making it feel like a waste of time. On the positive side, the service from the crew was friendly, and the drinks were good. However, I wish the guide had spent more time sharing information about the local geography, wildlife, or history, as that would have made the excursion much more engaging and worthwhile. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to our expectations.

Overall, it was a great experience. The catamaran wasn’t too packed, which meant that we had a lot of space to relax and enjoy the deck. The snorkeling/beach spot was very nice and we enjoyed being able to have over an hour there. Open bar during the the entire trip was a big bonus. Guides were very friendly and informative. Our only issue was that it began to thunderstorm on our return. However, the guides insisted on stopping to fish! I understand it was part of the experience, but I don’t want to get struck by lightning just to catch a tuna. It was just a wild experience going through that. My friend gets sea sick and even with medication, it was very choppy during the storm. It only got worse as we waited for them to fish. Just not the best idea all around if you ask me.
Super fun! Don't let a rainy day scare you away. It was raining the day we were supposed to go on our cruise but the captain said we were still all good to go and we are glad we listened. There is only 35 people on board because a bunch of them bowed out because of the weather. Their loss was our gain. About 25 minutes into the cruise the weather cleared up and it was absolutely beautiful. They took us to a private beach that you can only get to by boat. We got to swim out from the catamaran to the beach have a nice long walk and swim in the ocean. Drinks were flowing and Good vibes were there! Definitely recommend
Buyer beware. They care more about $ than patron safety. Horrible weather today. Pouring rain all day. Could barely see the water from the beach and they still went out. No refunds. Boat is is still on the water and it is pouring rain and thunderstorming.
Do not trust this supplier. We waited for them for 20 minutes to decide if they were going to cancel due to weather. We watched the transport boat turn upside down in the waves and it was thundering and lightening and they decided to go out anyway. We are a family traveling with two young children and didn’t feel safe taking them in these conditions. However, they marked us as a no show and refused to refund us. I didn’t feel comfortable putting my kids at risk in these weather conditions. We were not the only family that decided not to go. Others travelers just got off another boat and said the ocean was very rough and that their captain said it was unsafe for others tours to go out. Do not book with this company if there’s a chance that the weather maybe poor as they won’t make safety a priority.
This is an amazing tour! Totally worth the price! You sail, swim , snorkel, eat and drink! Then sail back during sunset. It’s a beautiful half day sail. All of the crew is friendly! On our trip we saw sea turtles but other people have said they’ve seen dolphins and even whales.
They did not provide any what we paid for! My minor daughter and I paid $250, which was more than we were initially told, because we wanted to go snorkeling and had no gear of our own . When we got to the point that we would go snorkeling, a hour and a half up the coast, they told us that they did not have enough equipment for us! We were completely left out of what we had specifically paid to do. They were not at all helpful on board, telling us that they and the office knew they did not have enough equipment before we even went out there! They said we should call the office to maybe help them out to get some next time! They then said we could see if someone else came out of the water early….but seriously! Needless to say we did not get to go snorkeling! When people started to come back they decided to bring everything in, feed everyone and head back. I could have sat in the sun, drank virgin drinks and ate better food from a Soda on land for much cheaper. My daughter and I were very disappointed and the experience was ruined…..and no one cared! But why would they, they already had my money!
Family had a great experience with Marlin del Rey. Felipe and the crew were fantastic. Very accommodating with all of our needs. The captain did a wonderful job of showing us wildlife on the cruise. Boat was very clean and took us to secluded spot. Snorkeling equipment was sanitized and the crew gave great suggestions. Highly recommend this for the family.

An unforgettable afternoon adventure Snorkeling was the highlight—crystal-clear waters filled with vibrant fish and even a few stingrays gliding by. The crew impressed us with freshly prepared food that was far better than expected. Unfortunately, heavy rain rolled in before sunset, cutting the trip a bit short, but it hardly diminished the experience. Overall, a fantastic outing that I would gladly recommend to others.
The crew was so fun. They were attentive to everyone in board. Stanley was on top of making sure we all day fresh drinks. The food was amazing. I highly recommend booking your sunset cruise with this company.
We had the very best day on this catamaran. The crew is incredible and made the experience so much fun! There were lots of options for drinks, and the food was delicious. Stanley, in particular, made sure we were taken care of. 10/10 would use this company again, as we always do!!
The catamaran boat trip was amazing. They brought us close to a secluded beach, where we were able to jump off the boat and swim to shore. The views throughout the trip were spectacular and perfect for photos. The staff was very attentive and made sure everyone felt comfortable at all times. Drinks and food were provided and were excellent. Highly recommend.
You get to spend a lot of time on and in the water (if you want in). The crew is very helpful and friendly. Captain Andre is very nice and handles the boat just fine. Drink options were excellent and no one got too crazy with the open bar. The food was moderately good with plenty of fresh fruit. Don’t do this if you don’t want to relax and party and maybe meet new people. Don’t do this if you need to be pampered and don’t want to walk barefoot on a hot boat.
Great time. The crew was great, especially Fabi. Sailed into a cove, 1.5 hr swimming stop. Lunch and sunset on the way back. Recommend!
The crew on this boat was great. They were unobtrusive but there when you needed anything. The chicken lunch was yummy and though not a big drinker, the two I had in the 5 hours were great (margarita & a pina colada). The music was fun and we talked with a bunch of people from all over the place. I had no idea what the cost was since this was the first vacation I used a travel agent for everything. But coming home, excited to write this review, I can see that it was a great value for the amount of time and effort the crew put into our day on the Pacific.
This was a very long excursion with almost no activity. You basically just ride on a boat for 1.5hrs with ~70 other people, spend about 45 minutes floating in the ocean (they ran out of snorkeling equipment, only about half the boat got it, but there was absolutely nothing to see), then come back. Food was ok and drinks were free if you like that, but I would not do this again.
This was an absolutely beautiful experience. The Crew was beyond nice and helpful. We saw dolphins along the way and the sunset view was spectacular.
We had a great experience and fun afternoon on the water! We enjoyed the open bar and light meal. It was exciting to see dolphins on the ride back while seeing dolphins!
After missing my original Catamaran tour date due to an incorrect pin on my booking tickets and much back and forth with Trip Advisor and the Provider we were allowed to take the tour the following day. (Use the directions provided on the email from the provider not on the booking ticket link to avoid this problem.) So grateful that we were able to take the catamaran tour. The views during our sail were stunning. The service during our tour was fantastic and the food and drinks were delicious. We anchored at a beautiful secluded little cove with a beach pretty much to ourselves. The snorkeling was not so good because the water here is not so clear for snorkeling. However, we were taken to the little beach by tender in their dingy the water there was so clear you could see your feet. There were so many colorful shells and more hermit crabs moving about the sand than I had ever seen in one place. We had a wonderful time. One to remember!

I usually don’t do catamaran tours whenever we’re on vacations in the Caribbean or Central America, but booked this on a whim just to catch a sunset while out on the ocean, and to see Costa Rica’s coastline from the ocean. I’m so glad I did!!! It was above and beyond anything I could have hoped for dolphins swam out ahead of us at one point, we saw a whale, snorkelling near the shore brought me close to a stingray. The food and drinks were great and the crew was so pleasant. It was a perfect afternoon!!!
We had an amazing time on this catamaran tour! The entire experience was really enjoyable from start to finish. The crew was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the trip feel relaxed and fun. Everything on the boat was very clean and well-maintained, and you could tell they take good care of the vessel. There was also plenty of shade which was a bonus! The crew was also very organized, so everything ran smoothly throughout the trip. From boarding to the activities during the tour, it all felt well planned and stress-free. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this catamaran to anyone visiting the area!

The day was so much fun from the small boat ferry out to the main 65ft catamaran, The Captain and crew were super organized.The day trip started with a 1.5 hour sail in the Pacific to a calm swim area.Noodles were provided. Swim as long as you want until the dinner bell was sounded. Captain and crew set up a bbq chicken dinner buffet line which was included free with free drinks as well.Anchor was pull fit the return trip and a great sunset. There were other companies doing a similiar trip but Marlin Del Rey we were glad we choose.
Crew was amazing. Food, drinks & an amazing sunset made it that much better. Saw sea turtles, dolphins & jumping rays on our way to anchor and do some snorkelling and swimming in a cove. Will do this again for sure!
Amazing time for the price. Crew was great. Snorkeling was very fun and amazing views on the water. Open bar is definitely open for those who want to. Not very packed with people which makes it fun to go with a group.
This was a really fun activity. All the details were just as described on the website. We had a full group, yet the boat had plenty of room and seating. The boat and bathrooms were very clean. The drinks kept flowing, and the food was good. The crew was awesome! They were very fun, yet very responsible. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5, is that I would have liked more than 45 minutes for the water time. We had so much fun with all the activities! Sunset was incredible. Be sure to have your camera ready!

We were worried about the heat with my mom who is older but there was plenty of covered room in the bar area that had a nice breeze to stay cool. Room for about a third of the group to sit at a time. Never had to stand when I didn’t want to. Food was good and guides pointed out wildlife as we went. Overall very pleasant and enjoyable.
This was our first time taking a Catamaran tour in Costa Rica. We loved it and would definitely book this trip with Marlin del Ray again. I tend to get sea sick easily but I couldn't even feel the boat moving, and it was a very windy day when we went. Once arriving to the bay, you had many options: stay on the catamaran, jump off with a pool noodle and swim the short distance to shore, use their snorkeling equipment or get in a boat and they will bring you to shore. It was a nice sandy beach. After that we got to eat. It was a great authentic lunch: chicken, rice, beans, fruit, chips, salsa and cookies. The bar had good drinks as well. There were clean bathrooms on board. The sunset was amazing however the best part of the trip were the whales. We got to watch them our entire trip back. I guess that doesn't always happen but it was a great way to end this great trip.
The meet up and quick boat ride to the catamaran was smooth. Lots of space on the catamaran to find the perfect spot to enjoy the tour. We were fortunate enough to spot a whale on the tour :) Lots of time for snorkeling and floating in the ocean, taking in the gorgeous views of the coastline. Crew was amazing - they put on a yummy and plentiful lunch - open bar was also perfect. The catamaran was clean and the crew worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was taken care of. The views of the sunset don’t miss and certainly a bonus from the water. Certainly recommend this tour.
