Leona Waterfall Hike: Canyon Swim, Cave & Cliff Jump With Lunch

I booked this tour last minute get out of Tamarindo and experience another adventure. This tour is completely worth it! Luiz was our guide and it was just my boyfriend and I and he showed us different wildlife and flora/flauna, he took us cliff jumping, to a smaller waterfall that locals go to, and he took so many pictures and videos for us. We had a driver that didn’t speak english but we communicated through google translate. He took us to a local lunch spot in Liberia. After eating we were so tired that we just wanted to go back to the hotel and he took us straight back. He was super nice and talked/showed us Costa Rica culture and told us about their Independence Day. Really great day!

Extremely cool experience! Everything we wanted it to be! Our driver Eddie was very good (it's about 75 min of driving). The hike was fantastic and our tour guide Alejandro would outstanding! Our kids said it was the coolest thing they had ever done- waterfalls, cave, a natural waterslide, and a cliff jump! Terrific experience!! There were some difficult parts of the hike that would be very challenging for kids younger than 6-7, elderly people, or those with poor mobility and stamina.

This was a once in lifetime experience and we will have amazing memories for a lifetime. The tour is physically demanding as a multi terrain hike. Our guide Christian was absolutely fantastic! He was knowledgeable and put all of his guests safety first. This tour really is a must do! As a tip, we recommend standing in the bed of the truck on the way to the drop off point to start your adventure!! 10/5 stars!

We had a great time. Starting from Orlando picking us up on the bus and getting us there on time. He took us to lunch and ate with everyone. Manuel the tour guide did a fantastic job helping everyone along the trail and taking pictures of us in front of the waterfall, cliff jumping and other activities. I highly recommend them!

The overall experience was great! The waterfall was amazing. Our hike guide was very attentive and made sure we enjoyed the experience. He didn’t rush us through at all and offered to take our pictures whenever we wanted a picture. The pick up was also hustle free the driver and tour guide made sure we had what we needed for and after the hike like water and at lunch checked to make sure the food was good.

This was an amazing experience! I was a bit concerned because We had 2 young teens, and I don't know how to swim. This did not stop us and I felt safe the whole time. We wore left jackets and the water was never an issue. All 9 of us had the best time, and our guide excellent!! Highly Recommend. The waterfall was nothing less than awesome! Nature at its best.

We had an amazing time on this adventure. It was myself, my wife, and my 6 year old son. We got to see some wildlife (huge tiger ants, howler monkey) and cool fauna (bead tree and gum tree) that the guide gave us background information on. Our guide Luis couldn't have been friendlier or a better guide. The water was a bit cold but what a treat you are rewarded with when you get to the waterfall. Simply breathtaking.

Orlando was an excellent driver who politely assisted us getting in and out of the van. We felt very safe on our day trip. Jose was a wonderful and very knowledgeable tour guide. His English was excellent and he had a great sense of humour. He made the day most enjoyable.

We had an incredible time on the La Leona adventure hike! I didn’t know what to expect but it was so much fun! Luis was an excellent guide and educated us and made sure we felt safe in the water. We also went a more adventurous route for jumping into the river a couple times. He was very good on ensuring we were comfortable. I highly recommend this tour. I would suggest though individuals are in decent shape as the stairs are quite steep and some might have trouble in the waters a bit in certain areas. Ask the guides or company for more info on this as there might be an easier route as well.

Excellent driver, Orlando! Our guide Rudy is knowledgeable, funny, professional!! They are both very accommodating, would certainly recommend them. The rain forest for sloths and wildlife was amazing, cocoa and coffee plantation so informative. Again would highly recommend both Rudy the guide and Orlando the driver for any tour. A very beautiful and exciting trip in a dreamlike landscape. Anyone who loves adventure must take this tour. Our guides, Emmanuel and Luiz, are excellent hosts and taught us interesting things about botany and fauna.

This was an amazing experience. Catherine who picked us up at the hotel - took us to lunch and stopped for some coconut water was amazing. Andrea’s our tour guide was amazing also. He made sure we were safe and was so knowledgeable about everything.

Our guide, Livingston, was great! We really enjoyed swimming below the waterfall. Just amazing! The birds and other wildlife were beautiful to see.

Orlando and Livingston were FANTASTIC!! The day was long but so worth it. They were on time, great host, very safe drive and a joy to talk with. Great for family activities. We will definitely request their services on the next trip!

Our tour guide Michael was amazing. He made sure that we got to see the best of the best. He showed us the blue butterfly, several different hawks, and wild turkeys. My wife and I enjoyed spending the day with such a knowledgeable person who truly loved his job and was passionate about it.

Amazing and unforgettable experience, especially the swim and the climb of the rocks for accessing the Leona cascade. Would have been perfect if a bit longer (2,5 hours is too short) and with a better lunch.

Geno is the best guide around Costa Rica! We did both the Lioness waterfall hike and the sloth tour. This is our second time visiting Costa Rica. Last visit we booked with another touring company, and got lucky enough to have Geno as our guide for two excursions. Upon return, I contacted Geno for our trip. He picked us up at the airport, on time, and was in constant communication with us. We booked the above mentioned tours with Geno because we just loved him so much on our last trip. We were not disappointed! Geno took us to each of our excursions where we had the time of our lives. Geno really made our dreams come true on these tours. He also coordinated our airport drop off, without a hitch. Geno is so full of knowledge and will go out of his way to make the best of our time. I can’t say enough good things about Geno. I would recommend him for any excursions or transport. We felt safe and secure the whole time. We 💗 Geno!

Loved this!!! Amazing experience, we saw a lot of monkeys and the guide has a lot of knowledge The car was 10/10 and the A/C was on point 🥵 You need to visit la leona waterfall if you go to guanacaste and i think pure nature is a good option to do it We didn’t have any trouble and we spend a really good time, if you are into adventures this is for you We will comeback for sure, Thanks Carlos ☺️

The trip is fantastic. Be prepared for the fact that it is physically demanding and that you will have to wander and use your strength to navigate in the water. In turn, it’s all worth it – and perfect for teenagers who need to burn some energy off.

A wonderful experience, the place is stunning. Our driver Orlando has been very punctual and has given us a lot of information about the area and Costa Rica in general. Our guide on the walk has been Imanol, he has taught us a lot and adapted to our pace. A highly recommended experience, yes, we were very lucky to be few people, I don't know how it will be in high season.
