Jungle And Beach Horseback Riding Tour - 2h 1/2

We had a beautiful and romantic horseback-riding experience. The horses were very responsive and easy to ride, even for a first-timer, and the location and views were absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by what happened afterward. During the ride, we gave our GoPro camera to the guide to take photos of us and accidentally left without getting it back. By the time we realized, it was already our last day in Costa Rica. We contacted the owner and were assured that the camera had been found and would be sent back to us. Unfortunately, we never received it. After being told that it was on its way, communication eventually stopped altogether. We genuinely loved the horseback-riding experience, but losing an expensive camera that had been left with a guide—and then receiving assurances that it would be returned only for communication to stop—left us very disappointed. A beautiful experience with an unfortunate ending.

The tour was lovely! We had never ridden a horse before, but that wasn’t a problem at all. The horses were very calm, and we were given horses that were perfect for beginners. We enjoyed a varied ride through the jungle and along the beach. Halfway through the tour, we stopped for some water and fresh pineapple. Our guide was very patient and also pointed out some wildlife along the way. He took some great photos and videos of us during the tour, which was a lovely bonus. Would definitely recommend!

The ride was absolutely amazing. They took everyone’s individual riding experience into account. If you wanted to gallop, you could do so right away on the beach at the beginning of the ride, as well as again at the end. In between, you ride through beautiful nature and get to see all kinds of animals, such as monkeys and cows. The horses are also very well cared for. The owner told us that they only do one ride per day (the rides last approximately two hours), so the horses don’t get exhausted. The owner is also a veterinarian himself, so he knows exactly how to take care of the horses and make sure they are healthy. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!

This was a fantastic tour and an amazing way to see Costa Rica. Martine was a fantastic guide and the horses were a treat to ride. Their shuttle service was great, as well - picked us and dropped us off door to door. This is a must-do for things to do in Samara. It was a highlight of our trip. Thanks for the great experience. We won't forget our time with Mariachi and Rum Poppi.

Great experience! We had Anthony as our guide, a Canadian guy, working and living here already for quite some time. He was very kind and thoughtful, making sure that all the desires of our group were met. We had quite the mixed group in the sense of experience level with horse riding but they managed perfectly so the more experienced riders could also gallop when they wanted. The areas where we did the riding were nicely mixed with good parts through the forest / jungle with shade and nice parts on the beaches also!

This was an amazing experience for our whole family! Our guides were incredible—knowledgeable, patient with our little ones, and they made sure everyone felt comfortable and had a wonderful time. Our kids are still talking about this adventure, and I think it may have been their favorite part of our entire trip. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!

We had an amazing time with the Explore Samara Tour. 2.5 hours is a perfect length, but I always want to go longer. 😁 Riding on the horse through the jungles and beaches is the best vibes, ever! 💕

We had a great ride! First outfitter that ever let us do more than walk single file down a path! Raffi, our guide, answered all our questions about local wildlife and the culture of Costa Rica. I would highly recommend this ride.

Was an enjoyable horseback ride but nothing overly special. Guide was great. Regrettably, not very much 'jungle', but the beach was fun.

My wife and I had a great time. Our guide was very friendly and attentive. They take you thru beautiful scenery. The best part was taking a break by the ocean and enjoying some fresh pineapple then getting to feed some to your horse as a nice treat

Lovely experience with children we all loved it. Horses were very friendly, my children 10 and 6 years old were first time ridders and it was perfect. My daughter was very stressed at first but after a few minutes on the horse and chatting with the guide she really enjoyed the ride through the jungle and on the beach. We had the chance to see monkeys playing on the way to the beach. I recommend this tour - thank you!

This is our second time doing a horseback riding tour with this group. It’s me and my two young girls, both under age 11. They are so incredibly good with kids, and these horses are all absolutely rock solid. I have a ton of experience riding over decades, but my girls are brand new and most of the other people on the tour had not been on horseback before either. I can tell you that as an experienced horse person, these horses are perfect for this type of tour. Everything is easy and feels safe. I’m also very militant about wearing helmets and while most of the other people didn’t wear them, I appreciate it that they have multiple helmets available for me and my girls to use.

It was my first time on a horseback riding tour, but I felt completely comfortable thanks to our excellent guide, Anthony. He’s a very friendly guy and clearly in full control at all times. What I really appreciated was how well they adapted to the group: experienced riders could go faster along the beach, while beginners like me could enjoy a relaxed pace. The fresh fruit break with delicious pineapple was a great touch and made the experience even more special. Highly recommended for both first-timers and experienced riders!

What a incredible experience. It was truly magical. Everything was smooth since the beginning. I booked by email with the owner the day before. Someone came to pick me up at my place. The guides explained everything cleary to our group (we were around 10) and off we went on a beautiful ride on my most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica and traveled incredible scenery. I loved it!! This was a true highlight of my trip!

This horseback tour was so great. It was a full experience, not like the short rides available at the beach. My 2 kids and I rode with 1 other family. The tour goes down a dirt rode to Playa Buena Vista, a long rustic beach north of Playa Samara. We rode a short distance up the beach, then through jungle and pasture to the dirt road that leads to the far end of the beach. We stopped to snack on pineapple and feed the rinds to the horses, then rode the length of the beach back through the sunset. The horses went back at an exhilarating run. Gorgeous scenery and got to see the countryside off the beach. Our guide was so helpful and friendly. Horses in all sizes were mostly well-behaved.

We had an awesome time horseback riding. Anthony was a great guide- he meet everyone at their riding experience levels and was close by at all times to check in. The sunset in the beach was incredible too! This was one of favorite experiences yet in Sámara.

Most amazing experience from start to finish. The best tour guide from pick up to the young lady that took us on the horses. We learned so much about Costa Rica from our now new friend Nicole and her family who gave us the best experience riding through the jungle we seen monkeys and giant Winnie the Pooh bee hives to riding through a river and right into the beach down to a field of palm trees in a blue beach of water an waves to local fishing on shore into the ocean an watched one catch a big fish. This horse back ride really brighten our stay and experience. The only downfall is wishing we booked it sooner as it was at the end of our stay. 10/10 we all recommend. Thank you so much 🫶🏼

What an incredible experience. Our guide was fantastic and really catered to the varying comfort levels in our group. He had my 8 year old - who had never really ridden a horse solo before - doing a light gallop down the beach at sunset. She could not stop laughing. He was also so kind with supporting other members of our group who simply wanted to walk and take it slow. This excursion really is for everyone. The horses are absolutely beautiful and so gentle. This was a remarkably special memory for our family.

Rafa our guide was amazing. I felt that he did a great job matching people with horses. He took excellent pictures and sent them to us after the experience. The horses were beautiful and well taken care of. The beaches we visited and rode on were beautiful. We all enjoyed feeding our horses pineapple rinds and food upon arrival back from where we started. I highly recommend this tour!

The ride was beautiful, and our guide Raphael was great! Make sure to layer on the sunscreen and bring a hat as it got pretty hot!

Everything from our lodging pickup to horse selection, instruction, knowledge of the area, monkey siting was just perfect. We are two 72-year olds with some but not much horse riding experience and we felt very safe. Didn't feel pressure to trot (as others did) and the guide (Raffi) was patient and helpful. It was nice to see the off-the-beaten path area of Buena Vista. So glad we did this.

WOW. If you are debating, DO IT!! This was our family's FAVORITE experience. We zip lined, surfed, jumped off waterfalls, but this was our absolute favorite. Such a beautiful experience to ride at sunset on the beach and through the jungle/forest. Our kids were 6,7 and 9 and had never ridden a horse before. We felt so safe and grateful for our guides help. He was wonderful and so kind! Looking back at our pictures, it was everything and more. Such a fun family experience we will always remember. Also, a reminder to bring cash for tipping as we almost forgot!

Our horseback riding tour was one of the best experiences we've ever had. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to ride on the beach. Our guide, Martine, was so friendly and kind, and made the ride very pleasant. He consistently made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the ride. The areas we rode through were beautiful. Being given the freedom to run on the beach once we got there was unforgettable. Martine also took photos and videos throughout the ride, which he shared with us. This allowed us to enjoy the ride and keep our own cameras stowed away. I would recommend this tour to anyone, and I sincerely hope to return one day and do it again!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the horseback riding tour! We were able to ride on the beach and stopped for a refreshing pineapple snack. Highly recommend this if you're in the Samara area.

This was an awesome experience. The horses galloped through Samara beach at sunset, which was a very unique experience compared to other horse riding experiences. The only thing I did not enjoy, which was not the fault of the tour operators, was the long treks across unpaved public roads with cars passing by the horses. During our other horse riding experience in Monteverde, we only went through farmland, which was much more enjoyable experience. But on this particular tour, we spent at least half of the horse riding trek on unpaved public roads getting to and from Samara Beach. Finally, the equipment was a bit dated. The tour operators should invest in updated saddles and helmets.

Excellent services from Largo and Rafa. Those guys are very knowledgeable and made our experience quite enjoyable. They did all the work from pickup, quick demonstration, accompanying along the way and presenting everyone with water and snacks and finally groping everybody to their hotel safely. Highly recommend

My family had an amazing time riding horses through the village and along the beach. We stopped for water and pineapple half way. Everything was great. Our guide was brilliant, friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

Rebecca, our guide, was amazing. She pointed out wildlife throughout the ride which was spectacular. We saw many, many monkeys and butterflies. Our horses were easy to ride and so much fun. We did the tour which included lunch and the food was delicious. I highly recommend!
