This was supposed to be geared toward beginners, as we only had one currently active rider in our group, but we were not guided very closely. My saddle was sliding to one side and one stirrup was too long, which I told our guide but he was fairly busy sticking close to our pretty daughter, so it was not corrected. My horse was already tired, and she needed shoes. My horse had visible problems getting up the inclines, she was breathing hard and sometimes she even stumbled. None of the staff seemed to notice that my horse was having a hard time. Otherwise the horses seem healthy and are very beautiful. All of the staff at the Neal location are very friendly and professional. We did not stay to eat but what we saw of the restaurant was very nice. The gift shop is well stocked, but we needed another guide to find prices. I really wish I had inspected my horse and made sure I insisted on taking time to make myself heard about my comfort, before riding out.
The horse tour was adventurous and wonderful as we made our way on Diamond and Bird through the Costa Rican trails. The 2 guides were informative and fun. A definite yes for horse admirers. I didn’t think I ‘d make it to the beach - I was wrong. A gentle surprise… thank you.
The tour company didn’t let us know it wasn’t a guided tour and that we only had option of horseback , zipline or ATV. We were stuck there for most of the day as we got dropped off at 8:30 am and pickup wasn’t till 4:00 pm … others in the group just paid for private transportation back to hotel as it was nowhere near what we expected
The guides are very nice and true horsemen. The trail had plenty of mixed terrain with plenty of beautiful scenery. There is a lot of wildlife to see as well. We loved it!
First time horseback riding with the family. The guides were very friendly and willing to take pictures of us on the horses. They take care of the horses and keep them on the trail. It seemed like they matched the horses' personality to ours, but that couldn't be possible, could it? My 17 year old and 12 year old loved their first horseback riding experience and I would highly recommend if you are in this area of Costa Rica.
Very impressed with knowledgeable staff, very healthy nice horses and happy people everywhere!
It was a very a fun ride, the horses are very well taken care of and we got to ride the horses on the beach as part of the experience
Super fun ride to the beach while my husband and sons went zip lining
We spent part of two days here one viewing the animals and one doing a horseback riding tour Only negative was being able to purchase any horseback riding photos the photographer was backed up and way too busy to help us...
We had a blast going horseback riding. Nice easy trails and the guides were very informative. I will try one of their other tours. The reception desk has very friendly people as well.
Good experience Horseback riding at Diamante Ec o Adventure Park. A shuttle bus that runs every 30 mins was available to take me to the park. Once th ere I could see the horses and the workers. I was g reeted and the instruction was explained. It was lis ted as good for beginners. I rode Bert and he was not cooperating at first, kept turning back to the st able. Arnol was able to take the reins and lead him to the trail then it was smooth after that. Since I w as the only person for my time slot, we were able t o enjoy the trail, the zip liners above and the catcu s, it was fantastic. Love going by the beach where I was able to get photo opportunity. Rode through t he woods not much to see. It was a bit rough on t he trails but with the instruction of leaning backwa rd and forward helped. Recommend an early ride, much cooler.

This is our first time visit Costa Rica - what a beautiful country and beautiful, friendly, polite people! We are still here in Costa Rica in October ... the rainy season! No joke - and we are from Vancouver where it rains a lot! We were looking for a tour to do, and decided on Diamante - even though it was risky with the rain. We are so glad we went - the rain held off long enough for us to go horseback riding. I guess the rain had discouraged others from taking a ride because it was just my husband and I while everybody else decided to go zip-lining. We made the right choice with a leisurely trail ride - at one point ending up on the beach for photos. Lots of birds and different scenery, and the howler monkeys in the background letting us know they were around. After a lovely ride, we visited the butterfly sanctuary, jaguars, sloths, toucans, monkeys as well as others. We learned so much in that all the animals are rescues and not fit to return back to the wild. We then visited all the botanical gardens - so gorgeous - and ended up at a little "coffee" house where we had the pleasure learning from Aris - a lovely young man who has been with Diamante for ten years. Again - we were the only two people, so we had basically a private tour. He taught us how sugar cane is harvested, squeezed, dried, and ultimately made into brown sugar (I'll never buy white sugar again!). We also learned about coffee - how it's grown, dried, ground and we had the best sample of arguably the best coffee (and sugar) we have ever tasted. But then it kicked up a knotch - we learned all about the cacao bean and how that is harvested, dried, ground, and then combined with a little milk and sugar to make chocolate ...yummy! We had an amazing experience with Diamante ... I will certainly be telling anybody who is thinking about visiting Costa Rica to visit Diamante as well. At the end of the day we both felt enriched, happy, fulfilled - it was a wonderful day that we will always remember with happy thoughts!
Amazing experience through the quiet jungle on well-behaved horses. We were riding for a solid hour plus and the guides were great! Skip the ATV's and enjoy quiet nature...
I attended the excursion on my birthday. I had a great experience. Staff was attentive and made me feel safe. I would definitely participate again !
I wanted my kids to experience every bit of adventure on our trip to CR! This was no exception! 3 out of 4 of us have never been on a horse. My kids ages 10 & 7 were very excited to ride! The horses are very well taken care of and trained extremely well. You didn’t have to do much as the horses tend to just follow the lead horse. We had a private tour with 2 guides who spoke excellent English. We rode through the woods down to the most beautiful beach and then back up into the woods. About an hour on the horses was perfect amount of time. Go early in the morning as it gets very hot and it can be uncomfortable to ride. My kids, as first time riders, said this was their favorite excursion! This tour company is very well managed and thought out. Free parking with a shuttle to the reception area. Highly recommend Eco!
The ranch hands were great with the horses and paired them up well with the skill level each person. Some of the horses looked as though they needed a horseshoe change and hoof trim. It was cool to experience such a dry landscape although the ride itself was slightly boring. The ‘beach ride’ is merely a quick 5 minutes for a photo op. This would be a good activity to pair with other things!
Wonderful place. The personal were great people, they know everything about the rescue animals and try to help us all the time.
1. We were staying at Riu Guanacaste and wanted to try horseback riding on Dec 27th 2024 (on the day of our travel back from vacation). 2. The hotel concierge pointed us towards the travel agents at the hotel for some good horseback riding experience. 3. We had the following 2 constraints: -> only afford an hour for horseback riding end to end and -> need to check out the hotel immediately for our international flight at Liberia When we consulted all the agents at the hotel with our time constraint in consideration. 4. We consulted a couple of agents who made it clear that they cannot accommodate that. Unlike others the agent from Diamante Eco adventure park (claimed, atleast based on below explanation) , said they could accommodate both these conditions. 5. All this conversation between the agent and I was between 8:15-8:30am on Dec 27th 2024. 6. The agent (named Jalmar , I think) said that he could accomodate us for a 9am horseback riding tour (for 1hr) if we booked our tickets in the next 5 mins. 7. The agent then made a call to the operations team and confirmed that we can be accommodated for 9am (spoke in Spanish which I could not understand) and told us that everything will be arranged and ready for us for 9am , even though it was a late booking. 8. We requested we be brought back 15mins early so that we do not cut short the rest of the group and he confirmed that again on the phone and said yes. He also mentioned that we would have a separate guide to accommodate the shorter tour. 9. With all this assurance, we booked our tour (party of 4) at 8:32am at Riu Guanacaste hotel. 10. We received the confirmation email about our reservation at 8:55am. (20 mins after the booking and 5 mins before the tour starts). Please note that the agent never mentioned that: 1. They are from a different reservation company called TAM TRAVEL.We always were under the impression that they are Diamante employees as they represent your company. 2. We should be present at Diamante Eco adventure by 8:45am for a 9am tour. 3. In fact the agent assured us that if we reach there by 9am sharp (even though it is a late booking), everything will be ready for us and we will be brought back 15mins early to be back at our hotel by 10am (For the checkout). 4. Didn’t tell us that there is a bus ride to reach the reception. He made it sound that once we reach the park by 9am we are good. We reached the parking lot at exactly at 9am and the bus took us to the reception at 9:05am. 1. The reception checked in at 9:09am. Didn’t tell us that there was a bus ride and no one was waiting for us. 2. The reception was clearly not prepared for our tour. 3. The reception did not mention that we were late or gave us an option to proceed with the tour at that point or not. 3. They did not know we were coming. We asked the reception about our guide or horses and they asked us to get onto a different bus to be taken to the stables. 5. The reception was always trying to find an alternate bus for us which made it look as if they were scrambling to start our tour ASAP. 4. Once we went to the stable the horses were not ready. We waited another 10 mins for the horses to be ready. It was already 9:20am, a full 50min after our initial tour booking time. 5. We had to wait on the horses for another 5-10mins as the people kept saying somebody will come (we thought our guide) , but no one showed up to herd the horses until 9:25am. 6. A little child and an elderly person (who got the horses ready) then started the tour for us at almost 9:30am.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. We had an incredible time. I am not athletic in any way. I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. The ride was easy. The horses were wonderful and so gentle. The ride had a nice pace and the area was lovely. I would highly recommend this activity.
Horseback riding was so fun with Arnold and Annie who took our pictures! The ride was beautiful and I loved our pictures. I do wish we could have actually rode the horses on the beach for just a little bit. It was one of the highlights of the day!
I would definitely recommend Diamante to everyone! My kids wanted to horse back ride and we found this place online and this organization exceeded our expectations. When you arrive they take you to a reception hall that's on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean, after checking in you'll take a shuttle to you excursion (the have zip lining, ATVs, horseback riding). The horseback riding was 1 hour that took us through the forest to the beach. Our guide took photos of us on my phone for me at the start and at the beach! After the tour the shuttle took us back to the reception hall where we decided to have an all you can eat lunch that was delicious with priceless views! The buffet prices were totally affordable and so worth it.
Our family of 4 (kids age 8 and 10) toured the animal sanctuary and went horseback riding. Both experiences were great and we’ll remember for a long time. The horseback riding was 1 hr and went on a mix of small trials with stream crossing, a more open road which led to the beach. In Costa Rica, we were told it is illegal to ride horse on the beach so this tour provided a nice option to ride to the beach where they stopped for great photos and then continue on the trails. Only my daughter (8) is an experience rider but the guides explained enough how to ride to the rest of us and we all felt safe on the horses. We had 2 guides on the rides and the only thing that could have improved the ride to bump to 5 stars was if the guides helped point out wildlife and plants along the ride, they didn’t converse much but did answer any questions we had. The animal sanctuary had a great mix of beautiful animals. It was a bit busy so we didn’t get to talk to the employees about the animals but the one we did was very knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the butterfly garden and my kids loved the big cats. There was much more offered that we didn’t have time to get to, zip lines etc. It is pretty isolated and a windy drive to get here but this place packs in lots of Costa Rican to-do’s in one location to make it worth the drive!
As a first-time rider, this was so much fun! Our guides were very funny, nice, and kept us safe throughout. Additionally, the views during the ride was awesome. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent horse riding experience, through the forest then to the beach , then around the rest of the park , it’s seriously hot so wear lots of sunscreen and take water !! We then saw the sloths at the sanctuary, they seemed happy but I’m not so sure about all the big cats and monkeys in captivity, they had large enclosures but I don’t really like seeing animals caged like that Lunch was excellent And when we wanted to leave earlier they sent a bus straight away to take us home The driver on the way there was amazing , chatting away and telling us about the culture etc Recommend this trip We didn’t do the zip lining ( we are wimps 😅 )
What a great ride! I grew up riding but haven’t been on a horse in years, so I wasn’t really sure how it was going to go. It was listed as good for beginners. I rode Ranchero and he was SO well tempered. Since I was the only person for my time slot, we were able to let the horses run a bit and it was fantastic. I brought leggings to change into for riding (don’t wear shorts when riding!) and tennis shoes, but I wish I’d brought my boots because the stirrups rode up on my ankles when we got to galloping. If you’re just walking you should be fine in tennis shoes! (Don’t wear sandals)
My daughter and I did the 1 hour horseback riding after ziplining and animal sanctuary, so it was about 1330 on an overcast afternoon. The guides were professional but not very talkative. Guide provided safety brief and helped us mount up, then took pictures. Both my daughter and I have ridden before so comfortable in the saddle. Most trails were hilly so lots of ups and downs. Horses were 15-16 years old and didn't want to do much other than walk slow. My horse only broke into a trot when I was following too far behind the lead guide. Trails were typically too narrow to ride side by side. We rode down to the beach for pictures and then made a loop on trails around park. We enjoyed it, and price seemed reasonable, and well suited for newcomers to horseback riding but we would not do it again.
Their wildlife sanctuary is very nice and there's a ton of very helpful staff to point out and explain stuff about the animals to you. Really happy I made the trip over--the view from the main check-in is also incredible.
Enjoyed my horseback ride and Costa Rican horses! They are pleasure to ride. The guides are excellent! Everyone in the Park is so helpful! Unforgettable experience!!!
Amazing time with friendly staff and a thrill of adventure with a cool animal sanctuary at the end of it. Definitely a must do if in Costa Rica
Wonderful horseback adventure. Highly recommended. Staff were friendly, and horses had character. :)
I love riding and have horses of my own. The horse I rode at Diamante was a very well trained and well behaved horse. It had rained the day before, so our trails were a little muddy, but he handled them like a champ. Great ride and great (and super friendly) guides!
The staff was very nice. Although, couldn't tell if they wanted to be there. They were on their phones the whole time. They did talk at times but the ride itself was very quiet. We basically went really slow to the beach and back around some trees. Not much scenery or animals.
i spend a great moment. a ballad through the beach and jungle during the horseback tour. sympatic team.
The park is beautiful and I enjoyed the botanical garden so much. Horse ride was great we went to beach and took pictures. I recommend this place we had very little rain and staff was so nice.
Hands Gown best excursion in Costa Rica ! Worth every penny. We got to see the animal sanctuary, zip lining on 4 lines, beach activities (kayak, canoe and swimming) plus they feed you. 10/10
Everything was great, the people in charge of the horses were amazing and very helpful, my kids, my husband and myself enjoyed riding the horses and they took good care of us. The drivers were very nice and attentive, always arriving on time to the stops when they were needed. The staff at the restaurant and at front desk were very helpful and the guy at the botanical garden was very knowledgeable, he explained all the process for the chocolate and sugar cane. I really recommend going there, the views are beautiful, it was a great experience and the perfect place to see the sloths.
This was our second time back to the park. We had a amazing time. Our horses where wonderful and the trail views where incredible. Super clean !
Ok, I was able to cross seeing sloths in person off my bucket list, I was just in love there. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us the history of all the animals there. My 2nd favorite part was the butterfly house, the most extraordinary creatures. We did the ATV tour after which was great, unfortunately we could not dive into the ocean to cool down do to jelly fish in the waters. I do appreciate them warning us versus us learning the hard way.
It is a short guided ride (about 50 minutes) guides are friendly but not needed as the horses are old and bent out of shape. For 50 dollars is a rip-off. The value of this is no more than 20 or 25. I am disappointed.
Had such a fun time. I had never been on a horse and a woman in our group grew up riding horses. Arnol our guide, made if fun for both of us. He picked a sweet, gentle horse for me and a perfect horse for her. He made the hour ride enjoyable for both of us. We rode around the trails and down to the beach. What an experience being on a horse at the beach. I highly recommend this for anyone who has never ridden a horse and for those who are experienced. Thank you Arnol!!
The first one I rode on horseback, called Gacela, was wonderful, with the descent to the beach. Group of 8 people with 2 managers leading. Great!!!!!!!
