Fundive Catalina Islands (2 Dives, Only For Certified Divers)

I highly recommend Tama Dive if you’re looking for a fun dive in Tamarindo! Franko was my instructor and he was amazing! He was so helpful and made me feel so comfortable and even helped me work on some of my weaker skills. We got to see multiple sea turtles, eagle rays, pufferfish, eels, trumpet fish, starfish and many other cool critters. We even got to see dolphins and turtles on the surface while on the boat. It was a 2 tank dive and both locations were amazing. The crew on the boat was very professional and made everything go smoothly. I hope someday I can come back for the Bull shark experience!

We had a great dive out at Catalina islands. Gonza was great! We saw lots of sea life and a spotted ray. Remo was also on the dive and he is very knowledgeable. I recommend TamaDive to anyone who is looking to dive in Tamarindo.

Tama Dive is a good, professional Dive opperator in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We dove in the Catalina Islands area. My son and I had our own divemaster to ourselves and she was great. OUr first dive was excellent with lots of variety of sealife. We saw black tip reef shark, ray, puffer fish, several eels, schooling fish, froupers, and colorful angel fish and tangs. Great visibility, slight current. The 2nd dive was at quatro rocks. Not as exiting as the first, medium current escorted us through the dive zone. The gear was quality. They served us fresh pineapple and crackers. I'd book with them again in the future. We were promised some photos and details but haven't received them yet in 3 days.

Franco was absolutely patient with my teenage children who needed a little reassurance since it had been a while since they last dived. Was able to see 6 white tip reef sharks, which was truly amazing! The current was pretty rough and water isn't crystal blue, so visibility wasn't the greatest but that's no fault of the company. I would recommend this company and crew for sure.

I am an experienced diver (more than 20 years). I went on a 14days tour to Costa Rica and fortunately, I had a fantastic diving trip with Tamarindo Diving Operation through Viator. I saw several white tip sharks, eagle ray, porcupine, tangs, puffer fish, butterfly fish, trumpet fish, eels, blue sea stars and many more… Oh BTW, they even came and picked me up at my hotel. I love this team.

My son and I enjoyed a wonderful dive with Gee, Gonzo and Pedro (captain). We saw a lot of marine life and would highly recommend TamaDive to divers that are in Tamarindo. We will definitely dive with them again. They were very organized, professional, friendly and safe.

One of the best dives I’ve ever had! The manta rays are such beautiful creatures, the water was unbelievably clear. Guille was my groups guide and she was super helpful. She even helped me recover my action camera when it sunk to the ocean floor! Highly recommend this company!

It was great. We saw a lot of different wildlife. My guide was Gonzalo and he was great and he was super patient when I was having troubles with my ears under water.

Great experience! Love the small group with a personal guide for uncrowded diving. They knew where to find the most marine life. So convenient that they provide the dive suits and gear. We had a great week of diving with Tamadive. Juli was our guide, she was great, and they all treated us so well, we hated to leave. Highly recommended if you're going to the Catalina Islands to dive.

I would 100000% recommend divers at any level to book a dive through Tamadives! Overall, the experience was super smooth. Multiple instructors were present and groups were small to maximize the experience, which also made me feel safe as a beginner diver. All the instructors care deeply about the wildlife and their clients, and go above and beyond to enhance thejr experience. They also take incredible footage and share it with you afterwards for no cost at all. Highly recommend this site!!!

TamaDive was excellent. Every person we dealt with could not have been more positive and knowledgeable. My Children (14 and 11) and I dove with G and she was excellent. My 11 year old daughter had a little trouble with her ears but G made her feel comfortable and worked with her until she was able to get down to the bottom. We loved diving with TamaDive and will do some in the future when we are back in the area. Thanks for everything!

We had a wonderful time diving with Tamadive in Tamarindo, Costa Rica! I would definitely recommend them as a dive operator. Zoe, who works in the office, was super responsive to all our questions and very kind and helpful. We did two dives at the Catalina Islands and saw a few mantas, octopus, two seahorses, an electric ray, a bunch of leopard round stingrays, porcupine fish, scorpion fish, large schools of fish, and a nudibranch! The captain was great, and our DM, Remo, was awesome - knowledgeable, and fun! We arrived at the dive shop at 6:30 am - Remo checked our cert cards, made sure that our gear was set, did a dive brief, and we were on our way. Excellent service, friendly staff, and a great experience overall.

This was a super fun dive! Juli was awesome!! And the equipment was great. My 18-year-old son and I are new to diving. Diving with Juli was so stress-free for me. We saw sharks, huge fish schools, octopuses, eels, we heard whales underwater, and then saw the whale on the boat as we left. We did the washing machine (ask about it). Juli sent a follow-up with videos from her GoPro and dive details for our dive books. Total recommend this dive.

Had fun on this trip but didn’t care for the first dive lots of current and the dive was aborted. Second dive was awesome seen a huge manta ray and shark. Tour guides were excellent.

I went twice with friend and we had amazing days! Team is great, hep you a lot, show you what there is to see. Catalina Islands are a great place to see many many fishes and sharks.

I'm generally a Caribbean diver but I donned the 5 mil suit and took a chance. Visibility was not great and it was cold at times but what a great dive. Lots of fish, four of five sharks, rays and mantas. Julie was, by far the best Dive Master I have ever had, worked non stop, interacted easily and kept a group of six divers together in fair current and poor visibility. All while showing us so many things. Highly recommended.

Our dives with Tamadive were amazing. From out guide Remo to the boat captain and the guide for the other that we shared the boat with, everyone was great. Friendly, patient, knowledgeable and passionate about diving. We will definitely dive with them when we go back to Tamarindo! Remo sent us photos and videos within one day of our dive. Due to his knowledge of the dive sites, we saw an incredible variety of sea life and the seascape that we swam through was exhilarating! Thank you Tamadive!!

We liked very much the diving to Catalina Islands which we did 2 times in the week with Tamadive. Service is on top and as divers we just had to enjoy the time, everything was prepared by the team. A big Thank You to Franco, Julie and other team members.

Great diving experience with Tamadive. Julie was a great leader for our group dive of 4 open water certified divers. She was more than willing to slow down or speed up based on how we were feeling, since this was the first dive for my daughter and I after getting certified almost 18 months ago. Everything felt very safe and the dive locations provided a nice array of sea life to see while going along. Would dive with them again.

Great company to dive with! Our guides were very knowledgeable of the local environment and we saw some reef sharks, eels and a stingray, as well as lots of colorful fish. I would love to dive again with them sometime.

I had to make changes to my travel itinerary and learned that I was not going to be where I thought I would be. I jumped on google & searched dive shops in Tamarindo. The reception person Zoe at TamaDive immediately responded to my WhatsApp she gave me the dive availability for my days. I asked can I get back to you she said I only have 3 spots but I will hold one for you. When I knew I was set I contacted Zoe on WhatsApp she knew me by name. She sent a link to book, I completed the booking and the problems came up. I was outside the pick-up/drop off zone. Zoe you can try uber they are not reliable, but let me see what I can do. She hit me back and said I have a driver that will pick you up at the address at 615am. At 614 Gullie (G from Argentina) picked me up. Well I learned later G would be my dive guide and when I said I had a wonderful day of diving that is what I had. My videos from the dives were amazing on one dive sharks, spotted eagle rays, eels, and an amazing spottailed grunt school that I swam through made my day. I have friends that have a house 9 minutes away I will be back in January. Thanks for accommodating me.

TamaDive is an excellent dive center. They have great equipment and excellent dive instructors. We had two groups of divers with both men and women. Two were getting their certification and the rest of us were certified. The three instructors we had were excellent. We saw rays, eels, sharks (pregnant sharks and babies) and swam next to a massive school of fish. At one point I was in the middle of six sharks! The water in Costa Rica is murkier than Hawaii but full of life. We dove the first day with Remo who taught me I was using too much weight and helped me to get to the next level. The next day Guille was our guide and she had a different style showing us the micro world. She pointed out a tiny beautiful red golden crab. For reference, I am an athletic woman over 50 and felt calm the whole time. Juli certified our dive beginners. They were thrilled. Captain Pedro kept a watchful eye on us! Thanks TamaDive for all your thoughtful attention!

I did two dives in Tamarindo and had a really great experience. The dive with Remo was especially fun and memorable. Seeing sharks was an absolute highlight and something I will definitely remember. Remo was incredibly kind, patient, and very supportive throughout the dives. He paid close attention to details and kept giving calm and helpful tips, which really helped me improve and feel more confident underwater. I really appreciated how he took the time to point out small things that will help me do even better on my next dives. The whole experience felt personal, relaxed, and professional at the same time. I am very grateful for these dives and would absolutely recommend diving here. I would love to come back again. 🤿🌊

I completed a total of four dives with TamaDive. From the meeting point to the end, everything was highly professional and very well organized. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. It felt like being part of a big family. If you want to experience professional diving, I can wholeheartedly recommend TamaDive. As a special bonus, they took underwater photos, which are provided free of charge. All in all, an 11/10! 🤙🏼

After six years back to Costa Rica it was clear that I had to go dive again with Tamadive after the excellent experience last time. And I was not disappointed! They have their own new and fast boat now and start from Tamarindo. In not time we were out to the Catalinas, overtaking the boats of other companies. The friendly captain made two stops on our request because there were dolphins and whales to see that day. The crew is professional and highly motivated. They looked very well after us with expertise. In the water, the guides made us feel comfortable and let us enjoy the fascinating underwater world with many animals such as sharks, rays, turtles, moray eels and huge schools of fish.

My son and I visited to get his advanced divers cert. We planned months ahead and the staff communicated well throughout to help with the theory and planning. We did 6 dives at Catalina Islands over 3 days, and we were well taken care of with snacks, water, and an instructor accompanied each diver. We dove with lots of sharks, rays, turtles, large schools of fish and giant eels. We also saw a sea horse and dolphins from the boat. The price was reasonable for the service we received. Great experience! We were a family group of 8. We had some certified and a few non certified divers- ages 11 to 49. We all had a fantastic time with Franco and Remo. We met at the dive shop where they reviewed the day and got us geared up- all the gear is in great condition. They drove us to the little boat which then took us to the bigger boat where they had all our gear already on board and set up. On our two dives we saw white tip reef shark, octopus, rays, tons of eels, puffer fish, turtle, and many others. The snack in between dives was amazing pineapple, cookies and crackers. The guides were patient and informative. We had a great time and would dive with them again.

Excellent diving with the Tamadive team, we dove 4 days ( 3 in Catalinas and 1 in Murcielagos). The day starts with a short 20 minute drive to the coast where you hop on a small boat to get to the dive boat. They load and unload everything but we gave a helping hand as it is nice for them and it also speeds everything up. Once on the boat with Captain Pedro, the short boat ride to Catalinas passes quickly. Also if they spot whales (we did everyday as it was peak whale season) they slow down and try and get as near as possible without disturbing them, so that was really cool and made for some great pics. As we done multiple dives, they tried to pick different dive sites for us everyday, but always picked the ones with the best diving conditions. Diving conditions where variable but as divers we understand that they can not do anything about this, but very knowledgable about where to find the various marine life, between dives there is fresh fruit,biscuits and water for everyone. As for bat island it is exactly what we hoped for bull sharks, bull sharks and more bull sharks, 3 great dives and couldn’t have asked for more, although we would of understood if we hadn’t of seen any as at the end of the day they are wild animals, bull sharks aside the 2 dive sites were great. We had an excellent four days with them and would highly reccomend these guys if you want to dive Catalinas and Murcielago. Thank you Remo, Franco, Estela, Guillermina, Noemi you guys rock!!!🦈🦈🦈

Everyone here went out of their way to make sure our whole family had a fantastic two days diving with them. My wife and I visited with 3 children (11, 11 and 13) who have their junior open water qualifications for their first non- training dives and the experience they got was some of the best we have had diving in many different countries. The kit was high quality and well maintained. The boat is designed for divers and well set up with a great captain. And the best bit were the instructors and guides who looked after the girls, gave them lots of tips and support as they developed their buoyancy control, plus spotted loads of incredible underwater life throughout each dive. Saw multiple white tip reef shark, puffer fish and non-aggressive trigger fish on every dive. Green turtle underwater on one dive and on the surface most dives, and the highlight for me was hearing the whale song underwater on both days and having the privilege of seeing them on the surface on our surface interval. Highly recommend to new or experienced divers alike.

Excellent divemaster, Ramo, who took and emailed free pictures and videos. Two great 60’ dives with lots of cool animals in coral like rock bottoms up against small islands. Saw tons of white tip sharks, several eagle rays, moray eels, angels, and huge schools all around with good clarity.

It was the best experience of my life! At first, I was really scared, but the experience and support from the TamaDive instructors helped me make it, and I couldn’t be more grateful. It was incredible! The whole customer service experience, transport, safety, and attention was way beyond a 10! I also really enjoyed the fun vibes, the energy, and all the jokes from the team, they’re seriously hilarious, which made everything even better. I’m sure I’ll do it again!

TamaDive provides personal attention. Remo spent time pointing out sea life and we learned a new set of hand signals. Very surprised by variety of sea life and clarity of the water. I'm 75 and need a little more time and help and Remo made me, and my grandson feel safe. Great dive, great outfit.

Very surprised by variety of sea life and temperature of water. I have not been diving in Pacific for many years and anticipated colder water. Remo was a great dive master. He pointed out many varieties of sea life and I learned new hand signals for trigger fish, angel fish, and rays. TamaDrive was a great, personalized dive trip. Never felt rushed and with their new boat we were back in Tamarindo in time for lunch. Highly recommend Remo and Pedro.

Diving with Tamadive was easily one of the best experiences of my trip to Costa Rica. The whole crew was super professional, organized, and made the day smooth from start to finish.
