We had an absolute blast on our tour! We got to see sloths up close, spotted some incredible snakes, and learned so much during the coffee and cacao presentation—which was both fascinating and delicious, also, the waterfall was the perfect touch. Our tour guide, Mainor, was exceptional! He was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and made the whole experience effortless. Best of all, our kids fully enjoyed the tour. If you're looking for a tour that has a little bit of everything, we couldn't recommend Mainor and this trip enough!

My husband and I had an amazing day! Mainor is a fantastic tour guide. Thank you for showing us some of the countryside, waterfalls, delicious lunch, sloths and coffee/chocolate. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. You made our day!
At time of reservation and over a week in advance of the trip, we requested a child safety seat for our 1 year old granddaughter that would be travelling with our group of 5 adults. They confirmed multiple times this was not an issue and they would provide the seat. We arrived at the meeting location at 7:45 for an 8:00 departure. As we began to load into the van we noticed that there was no child safety seat. The driver indicated they did not have one and could not provide one. He indicated that he would drive "safely and slowly" so our 1 year old granddaughter would not be injured. Clearly this was a non-starter. I reached out to the tour agency and all calls went straight to voicemail. I messaged them on the app and the messages went unanswered. I began to process of getting a refund from trip advisor. About 10 minutes later, we were told they forgot the safety seat and would arrive with it in 20-30 minutes. An hour later, the seat had still not arrived. The seat finally arrived ay 9:17. This was over an hour and a half since we requested it. The seat they brought was an infant seat - not designed for a 1-year old. Our granddaughter is small for her age and was able to fit into the infant seat. We departed, got 3 minutes into the trip and stopped. The tour guide indicated that since we requested a refund we would be returning to our resort. I received only a partial refund from the tour operator. Luckily my credit card came through and refunded the remaining balance. One of the worst vacation experiences of my life. Would never use this company for anything.
Lovely experience with lovely hosts - we saw and experienced so much in one day, highly recommend it!
We had a wonderful time and were able to get up close and personal with a young sloth! The guides and our driver were terrific.
Absolutely wonderful experience. We chose the private tour for a very reasonable add-on price. We were picked up on time and started our lovely tour day sampling coffee and chocolate, followed by a wonderful visit to a waterfall where a secondary guide took us around the waterfall and nearby cenote. We stopped for a creole lunch and headed to the rainforest where a secondary guide provided us with a wonderful tour where we saw sloths, frogs, and a viper. We ended the tour at a large souvenir complex El Jardin. Since it was low season, there were no crowds at all, the busiest place was El Jardin. Tour is best for moderately fit individuals since there were a lot of steps/ stairs and uneven ground. Overall 10 out of 10.
Tour Guide: AMAZING! Mainor our guide arrived early for pick up. He’a very knowledgeable and shared intelligent facts about our tour. Coffee & Chocolate Tour: FANTASTIC! It was organized and done in a very thoughtful manner. Genesis discussed the details, geography, indigenous process and lots of educational tidbits about coffee and chocolate! The owner Rosbin also showed us the process of how they make artisanal coffee and chocolate. It’s very well done in a sophisticated manner. Waterfall Tour: GREAT! We had a chance to swim in Cortez waterfalls and there was not a lot of people which almost felt like we had a private waterfall access! Lunch: DELICIOSO! We didn’t have to wait for too long because Mainor called in our lunch order a few minutes before we arrived at the restaurant. Rainforest Tour: WONDERFUL! Our guide Jessie is very knowledgeable and we found FOUR sloths in less than 30 minutes! We also saw some poison dart frog, sleeping tree frog and eyelash viper! After all the tours we did, Mainor even brought us to El Jardin where we bought some beautiful souvenirs, coffee, and Salsa Lizano to take home! This tour was most definitely an exquisite experience and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Costa Rica! Pura Vida!
Amazing day trip for my family of 5 including 3 teenagers. Manuel was our tour guide and he was awesome in every way! We saw a sloth 🦥 with a baby!! Highly recommend this activity.
Chocolate and coffee was very informative and hands on. Traditional meal was one of the best I had while visiting. The driver was very knowledgeable and kind. Great experience!
Manuel went above and beyond. We got to go to rainforest where we saw several sloths, snakes, frogs, and foliage with informative explanations. He took us to eat a traditional meal which was wonderful. Our coffee and chocolate tour with history of both plants and got to assist in making coffee/hot chocolate. We then made several stops along the way to see wildlife including a toucan and herons. He took us to waterfall where we ended our day. Cannot recommend Manuel and this tour enough! He was incredibly knowledgeable and hospitable.
Our family had a great day with Manuel from pickup at our villa through to drop off. Chocolate and Coffee was a great way to start the day and was a good pick me up following the first leg. Next we swam at the beautiful waterfall but the sloths, frogs and snakes were the star of the day. Thanks for a great outing none of us will soon forget.
My daughters and I had an absolutely wonderful experience with this tour company! Everything was well organized, enjoyable, and exceeded our expectations. The owner Rosbin was incredibly patient and friendly. He took the time to answer all of our questions, made sure everyone felt comfortable, and created a relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout the first stop at the coffee/ chocolate tour. The tour guide Manual was knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the history, culture, and local highlights.
We had the best experience on our excursions. Manuel was our driver and he was great. He was Fun, personable and attentive. All the places we stopped, were great and very informative. Totally recommend this group when you looking for an excursion in Costa Rica.
This was a fabulous excursion. It exceeded the expectations for all 9 members of our group. There was something for everyone. Between the waterfalls, the monkeys, butterflies, the sloths, frogs, the chocolate and even those who do not like coffee enjoyed learning about the process, everyone had a great time.
Such a fun, activity filled day! Saw a bunch much of sloths, snakes, frogs and other wildlife. The coffee/chocolate tour was both fun and interesting. Scenery was amazing and the guides were very knowledgeable.
Manuel was the best guide. He worked very hard to organize everything for us, and we were able to see plenty of animals on our excursion!
Very good guide with good experiences at our stops. However, the locations listed were not the ones we were taken to.
We had the most unforgettable experience today with Seven Sense Tours—truly one of the best days of our lives! We did the Frogs, Sloths, Waterfall, Coffee & Chocolate Tour, and every single moment felt magical. From spotting incredible wildlife up close to learning about the rich culture behind Costa Rica’s coffee and chocolate, it was the perfect mix of adventure, nature, and discovery. A huge shoutout to our guide, Mainor, who made the entire experience exceptional. He is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw as much as possible, all while keeping things fun, engaging, and relaxed. You can tell he truly loves sharing his knowledge and making people feel welcome. If you’re considering a tour, don’t think twice—this is the one. An absolutely amazing experience from start to finish that we will never forget!
Bring a swimming suit because you will get to swim near the Waterfall at the last stop. The tour and the food were excellent. The guides and the driver Minor were amazing.
Absolutely incredible!!! All the guides and our driver were very knowledgeable about the wildlife. The coffee plantation was extremely interesting. Our guide was friendly and took his time to explain everything. This was one of the best Viator tour experiences I’ve encountered. We saw 6 sloths, tree frogs, poisonous frogs, a yellow viper, rare birds etc …our guide was skilled at finding wildlife using her scope and helped us take pictures using the scope. I love chocolate so I can’t say more !!! Everything was excellent! Highly recommend this tour !!!
The coffee/chocolate tour seemed rushed but was interesting. The food for lunch was yummy The animal part was nice, not sure it was worth 2 hours in the car . Car was very uncomfortable. Too small for 4 passengers and driver .
Great tour. We were 3 sisters joined by another couple. Stopped at a waterfall where there was an option to swim. Next we traveled to a coffee and chocolate farm where we learned about the plants, the process and sampled the coffee and cacao. Our next stop was the nature preserve where we had lunch (very good) and toured the animal preserve. The walk around the preserve was very easy and our guide Stephanie was excellent at spotting animals. She had binoculars and a telescope on a tripod we could use as well. Saw 4 sloths, 2 babies, frogs, and birds.
Our driver was friendly and very knowledgeable. He would even stop along the way to show us animals in the trees by the side of the road. That's how we saw toucans! Our jungle tour guide was a young intelligent man who clearly loved showing off the animals we came across. We saw many sloths, including one coming down a tree to poop. We also saw frogs, snakes, owls, ants and monkeys in the wild. The coffee/chocolate tour was fun. And the food at the restaurant was tasty. The only recommendation we would make is to have the food first and then finish off with the coffee and chocolate as desert.
Sloth tour was amazing our guides were great we did a private tour our driver Manuel was so nice and very knowledgeable of the island it was very easy to book the tour we called directly and the representative answered all our questions and we received all the details for the tour through email and was told we can call them anytime if we needed to I highly recommend Viator
Great time! Alex was a wonderful guide and host. It's a lot of walking, but worth it. The waterfalls felt great to swim in, and the jungle walk was gorgeous. If you're doing this on a hot day, keep in mind you will be very sweaty. It's a long, hot, walking day! And a great way to see sloths, frogs, and all sorts of fun wildlife that if you're like us, won't see at home! Most of our group did the entire excursion in flip flops and shorts, but maybe we're crazy. (Just throwing it out there because we didn't know what we should wear, and overpacked long pants and hiking shoes.) We drove to waterfalls, it's a short, semi steep, narrow walk down to falls. You can swim, etc. We went down in bathing suits and sandals. Going back up is obviously more work, so we recommend going up wet to stay cool. We dried off at van, changed, and then were driven to jungle. First, lunch. Then, hike. Then coffee. It was a full day and length depends on traffic, weather, etc. So just plan for a full day, pack a towel, and enjoy!
Excellent experience with knowledgeable guides. Despite some rainy weather we sighted several sloths, an eyelash viper and lots of other wildlife!
The tour was a wonderful experience. Here is an honest review of our experience: The waterfall was an amazing sight. Standing in the water and looking up from almost under it was incredible. For safety, you are not allowed to get too close or walk behind the waterfall. Also, the path to get down to the waterfall we visited has a good amount of steep and uneven steps. The coffee and chocolate tour was about a 1.5 hr drive into the forest. The locals will take you on a short tour through a garden that has coffee and cacao trees. Following the tour you will have coffee and cacao roasted and fresh coffee and cacao for tasting. You may even get put to work and do the grinding!! This was a highlight of the tour, our local guide Richard was well educated about the chemistry, biology, and agriculture of coffee and cacao. Easily walkable but paths are unpaved. The last part of the tour was a forest walk. There were beautiful sights, trees, and sounds but overall this felt more of like a walk in a park than a true rain forest walk. We ate termites, saw frogs, birds, and a few lone sloths. Unfortunately there were no big snakes and the sloths were not active. Our guide for this part of the tour tried her best to nudge a couple sloths but it had just rained and they were trying to stay warm. These paths were unpaved and there are a few wood bridges you’ll have to cross with uneven steps. This part of the tour ended with a local meal of fajitas, rice, beans, plantains, pasta salad, and a lettuce and cabbage salad. The meal was a hearty and filling lunch. Overall we really enjoyed this tour. It’s incredible to think about the amount of coffee or chocolate you’ve enjoyed in your life and yet this may be the only chance you have at walking the land and seeing the trees they grow on.
My husband and I are so glad we did the tour! Seven sense tour company was wonderful. I wasn’t sure if they could pick us up from our hotel in Liberia, so I contacted them on WhatsApp. Their customer service staff was very helpful and wonderful. We did get picked up 15 mins earlier than scheduled and our tour guide was super friendly and helpful. The tour van was very new, clean and comfortable. We went to the waterfall, the sloth forest, and learned how coffee and chocolate were made. My favorite part was the sloth forest as we not only saw some sleeping sloths but also some frogs, a viper, a hummingbird nest, a blue heron, and a pet rabbit!! Many many thanks to our tour guide. Sorry I didn’t remember your name, but I really appreciate your excellent service!
Honestly this activity is worth it. The driver was great, guides were great. I saw a ton of animals (5 sloths, viper, dart frogs and more). Our guide was like and expert photographer too and got me the best photos of the wildlife. They were also very respectful. This is not an unethical tour where you're going to touch the wildlife. You observe in their natural habitat. After that, our driver took us to a less touristy swim spot with the bluest water I've ever seen in my life. Our family members did a similar but different tour and there's was 3 hours longer and they seemed to see way less and have less fun. It is a full day experience, but I highly recommend.
Manuel, our guide , deserves 10 stars. He is the best driver I ever had on a tour patient and careful. He helped me through the climb to the waterfall and over rocks and tree roots so I was safe. His English is perfect and his manner exceptional. He had a camera and telescope that took pictures of birds, sloths, and other wildlife, and then shared it with each of us. He truly made the trip perfect. The experiences were very educational and so interesting. I recommend this tour highly as you begin to appreciate the bio diversity of Costa Rica. It is a long day but worth every minute.
Definitely consider wearing a bathing suit if you want to swim at the beautiful waterfall. Manuel Angulo was extremely knowledgeable, organized, and friendly. We had an amazing experience with him and recommend him highly.
Amazing day and well worth the time! A good trip for all ages. Our driver, NES, was friendly and informative. The waterfall was cooling and refreshing. The coffee and chocolate tour was well done by our host, Jostin.. Lunch was a local plated meal and yummy. The last part, our jungle tour, was amazing led by Bryan who found sloths, frogs, snakes, all native to the area. We had kids as young as 5 and as old as 65 and the trip was enjoyed by all.
We were a group of 7 in our party and another couple joined us during this tour. Michael was our tour guide and he did a great job, to inform us throughout the tour. He even stopped by for us to see a howler monkey while passing by Monkey Trail. The tour was worth the money spent and then some. Our first stop was at the waterfall, it was a short hike to the falls, but the steps were pretty steep and did give me a workout working back up. We then went to the coffee and chocolate tour and Jostin did a great job informing us on coffee beans and cacao beans. We even sampled some delicious coffee and hot cocoa. Then we went see sloths (I saw 4 throughout the tour), frogs, snakes, a baby owl, and birds on a 30-40 minute trek in the forest with Steve. I love how all the animals we saw were in their natural environment. To close off the tour, we ate some delicious Costa Rican food (fajitas, rice, beans, salad, plantains) and it was delicious!!! We even stopped by to get some souvenirs on the way back. It was so much fun!!! I would highly recommend this tour!!!
We had a great time on this tour. The waterfall was beautiful, but it is does require lots of stairs. We really enjoyed the coffee and chocolate tour. And we were able to see mutiple sloths, frogs and a toucan which was very cool! The lunch was also delicious. We would recommend this tour to everyone - Manuel was a great tour guide.
Just about perfect. Our driver Manuel was very knowledgeable and super friendly. The host at the coffee/chocolate plantation was great and the samples were delicious. And the wildlife hike checked all of my boxes. The guide went out of his way to seek out the animals and get us up close to a sloth. Everything about this tour was awesome.
The tour guide driver Michael was amazing! Super friendly, knowledgeable and a great host!!! The coffee and chocolate guide Antonio was extremely professional, funny and definitely knew his stuff! The sloth guide was good! He found a lot of sloths and pretty cool frogs too! And also a surprise owl ! The waterfall stop was absolutely stunning!
Wonderful experience very much catered to my daughter, who is anxious and scared of new things. We learned so much about CR.
AMAZING experience. Could not recommend more. Minor was so great. he was so funny so knowledgeable and super sweet. we stopped on the way to see some cool animals and there was this jewelry store i was super excited about going to during my trip here in costa rica and i realized it was on our route so i asked if we could stop and HE DID! It was like a dream come true i was so excited. please please do this tour if you want an authentic experience with amazing people
Great tour to see more of the area and different areas of Costa Rica! Waterfall was first and stayed there for about 30 minutes swimming with the kids. The chocolate and coffee tour was so neat to see how they grow and was very informative. Next was the sloth tour and we saw 8 on our little him! Even got to see a snake and from really pretty frogs! Worth every penny and would do it again!
Manuel was VERY well informed and tailored the tour to our wishes! He was excellent. We were the only people on the tour which made this a private tour! The sloth tour was our favourite part of the tour and we saw several! However, we picked this tour over others because it was advertised as 6-8 hours (vs other tours that indicated 10-12 hours). It turns out that this tour was also 10-12 hours! We felt misled by the advertising.
We were picked up from Tamarindo so there is about 2 hours travel each way to get to the mountains. You can walk into the waterfall so pack accordingly- it’s beautiful and refreshing! Everything was wonderful , you’ll really enjoy the tour guides!
Manuel was a great guide - very knowledgeable and experienced. Be prepared for tipping other guides within this tour. There were 2 other guides involved and we didn’t have a lot of cash to be tipping them all. There’s a lot of driving involved so it is a full day, even more than suggested based on our pickup destination.
Lots of different activities and geographic elements to see. Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable... Albaro really made the trip.intetesting and enjoyable! Loved the coffee & chocolate tour, and saw sloths as well as soaked up the waterfall time.
Very informative tours. The driver was good but long distances to see things. We saw sloths toucan and other birds. The coffee and chocolate places were good.
Our driver/guide was Manuel and he was amazing! He went above and beyond to accommodate everything we needed from water/towels to his incredible knowledge of the animals and history of Costa Rica! We saw many sloths, snakes, toucans, frogs and other wildlife, it was so exciting! The meal was fabulous and they were very accommodating for children/picky eaters. Manuel even went out of his way to ensure that the kids saw macaws on the drive home! We were never rushed and communication was awesome! Highly recommend this tour especially with Manuel as your guide.
Great Day! Our driver/logistics man for the day was Minor. He was on time in a clean and comfortable van and a pleasure to be with. He started the day with a surprise side trip to a gorgeous waterfall/swim hole before bringing us to the sloths. Along the way he shared tons of interesting knowledge and answered numerous questions we bombarded him with about life in Costa Rica. Emmanuel was our guide at the sloth park and he was another win. He was able to show us 4 different sloths (one with her baby) and most incredibly, one that was climbing down the tree right to our level. The lunch served there was delicious. The coffee/chocolate tour was as great as the rest of the day as Diego taught us about the farming and production and even spent a few moments showing us the sugar cane side of things too. He was a pleasure to spend our afternoon with. 10 out of 10!
It was a great experience. Just be prepared to tip at each activity because they deserve it. The only thing I didn’t like was our driver to and from each thing. He had zero personality and was falling asleep on the way there and the way home.
Plan on total drive time, collectively, 6 plus hours to/from Tamarindo. Loved the waterfalls, sloths, chocolate tour, coffee... all of it! Would do again.
This was a well-paced tour, lots of things happening, but never felt rushed. The chocolate and coffee tour was lively with a small but well-stocked gift store. I brought some home and the chocolates were all really good. The private reserve was very well-run and beautiful. None of it involved technical hiking. Reserve was like a nature walk and the waterfall was about five minutes on wide well-maintained stairs. Highly recommend!
If you only have time for one tour of Costa Rica, this is an excellent one to pick. We had a group of 6 so we had our own private group. From when we were picked up at the hotel to when we were dropped off it was about 7 hours, but in that time we got to see a ton of wildlife (including toucans and monkeys) a lot of the beautiful countryside, a great informational tour on coffee and chocolate, walked in a rainforest and saw sloths, went to a waterfall, and had an awesome lunch! We also learned a ton from our tour guide about Costa Rica in general, he did a great job and cannot recommend more!
