Enzo is the BEST guide. We did the rafting and hanging bridges w/ lunch tour with him and will never forget the day we had. He was super knowledgeable, great with kids and really wanted us to have a good time. We would have missed so much if we had walked the hanging bridges alone. He made sure we missed nothing. Rafting the Balsa River was just plan amazing. So many animals and excitement, the guides all made sure we had a great experience. The stop for lunch at Arenal Vida Campesina was chef's kiss. My husband is still dreaming about the food. The coffee making demonstration and moonshine tasting was really cool too. No notes, Wave Expeditions. Thank you so much!

Wow!!! What a great way to see the La Fortuna Area. Thank you so much to our guide for the day, Sivianny. Morning at the Hanging Bridges and afternoon White Water Rafting with special trip to local farm. The entire day we felt well looked after.
Christopher was our guide for beginning rafting classes and he was so fun and hilarious. Our friend group loved him. He was nice and kind, made it entertaining and eased any nerves we had. So happy we had him.
We had the best experience with Wave Expeditions!! Our day started with the hanging bridges tour with Gustavo and he was such a great guide! We saw frogs, snakes, beetles, and learned about the volcano and surrounding area. His telescope was perfect and we got some amazing photos! Following this adventure, others joined us on the bus and it was time for the rafting. We were fortunate that we got to stick with Gustavo as our guide. We had so much fun! We were given clear directions and felt safe in our raft with helmets and life vests. Cruising through the river was a blast! We didn't want it to end. There was even a sloth sighting! (though a bit hard to really see). The fresh fruit snack was the prefect treat halfway through the trip. Afterwards we had a great lunch and learned about juicing sugar cane and had a shot! Highly recommend this for some fun in Costa Rica!
My family and I had a great time on the rapids. There is a bit of manipulation here but it is all in good fun. The watermelon and pineapple break was awesome! I highly reccommend!
Diego, Diego, Diego!! He was excellent; knowledgeable about all of the wildlife and plants, patient with my family, and fun on the water rafting portion while always being in control! We saw, sloths, toucans, no kids, dart frogs as well as so many other birds and animals all in one day!!
Our guide Axel made this a very memorable special experience. Lots of fun and very engaging. Highest praise for a great day out woth our kids. Great day out woth bonus lunch and cultural experience included after the rafting. Excellent!
Had an amazing day! Gerald our guide and Jonathan our driver couldn’t be better!! Professional, fun, experienced - from beginning to end couldn’t be better!
Wave is the best local company to work with for your adventure needs. We were blessed to get Carlos as our guide and are certain our time in La Fortuna would not have been as memorable without him. He went out of his way to teach us many things about Costa Rica, the environment, animals and even Spanish. We had an amazing time rafting down the Balsa river. The rapids are no joke, but he taught us well and kept us safe the entire time. If you are looking for adventure in La Fortuna, go with Wave everyone there is amazing, but we will always request Carlos - Pura Vida!
Great tour! Carlos our guide was very proffesional and Nice. Whole family enjoyed it!! Highly recommended. You would love it!
We did the combination of the hanging bridges in the morning and the rafting in the afternoon. Marcos picked us up at 7am at the hotel and it was just my husband and I for the hanging bridges. What a fantastic morning! We learned so much from Marcos, about the forest and the animals and pretty much everything about Costa Rica that we could think to ask! We saw an eyelash pit viper, many birds and monkeys, both howler and capuchin. On the drive back to La Fortuna Marcos pulled over as he saw a sloth which we would definitely have missed. We got pictures and videos of the animals through the scope, which were amazing. After a brief wait at the office, we went rafting. Because the Balsa was too low due to an issue at the dam, we went on the Sarapiqui. There were about 7 rafts in our group, 5 of us with Marcos. The rafting was super fun! We saw a lot of birds and Marcos told us what each one was. The rapids were fun, and we stopped for a swim and later to jump off the rocks into the river. We had fresh fruit before the rafting and a wonderful Costa Rican buffet lunch after, and they demonstrated squeezing sugar cane and we drank the juice as well as tried some sugar can liquor. Back to La Fortuna and our hotel at ~5pm, so it was a very full day! If you have the opportunity to do this excursion, I would absolutely recommend it. Especially if you have the incredible fortune of getting Marcos as your guide. Within our amazing 12 day trip in Costa Rica, this was our favourite day!
We had a nice fulfilling day with the guys from wave. We did the hanging bridges tour the next day because it was raining heavily and Marcus (guide) said we can do it tomorrow without any extra costs!! The rafting with Gerald was amazing and he also saw 2 sloths down the road which he showed us. Also the food afterwards and the little zugarcane tour were really pretty. It was just an amazing day (actually it was 1 1/2 with the hanging bridges on the next day) would highly recommend it!!
Great company & tour guides, easy to work with, this was a good option for a day trip if you are in the area.
We did this tour with marcos. He was so informative and easygoing. The morning tour of bridges and wildlife afforded us views of tarantulas, monkeys, birds, turkeys, frogs, and a viper....the bridges were fun and it is a beautiful hike. The rafting was a little worrisome for me and its pretty intense/exciting. Marcos was so skilled in rafting that i felt much more at ease a few minutes in. Lunch was excellent as well. Saw a couple sloths on rafting portion of excursion. Would do again in heartbeat. Hopefully, you will get marcos also!
This was a great trip, and a good deal as far as packages go. The hanging bridge park is beautiful - well maintained trails and bridges made of sturdy construction. The guide is very good at spotting animals and pointing them out (we had a couple loud 10- and 11-year-olds in our group that probably did a good job of scaring off some of them). We got as close to a coati as you could get (could have touched it if we had wanted to), and saw all kinds of hummingbirds, "turkeys" (guans?), spider monkeys, and sloths. Afterwards they took us on the rafting portion of the trip, which was a Class II-III (with the first hour being serious Class III action). That was a lot of fun, and the guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. We had a delicious snack of watermelon and Costa Rican pineapple (which is amazing stuff - much tastier than any Hawaiian pineapple I've ever had) during the trip, and in some calm regions saw some HUGE iguanas hanging out in the trees (again - never would have seen them without the guide pointing them out). Next was lunch at a plantation. They had a great Costa Rican traditional meal, served with a mild coffee (not a huge coffee drinker, but this was pretty decent). Then they give you a sugar cane demonstration (and a shot of some liquor made from it that will put hair on your chest). Finally, they drop you off at the hotel again, some 11 hours after your journey began. It was a great value for an entire day of entertainment!
Beautiful Tour. We had a guided tour through the rain forest and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Bridges never felt unsafe at all. This is a lot of walking but goes by fairly quickly. Definitely listen to them and pack your rain jacket even if you don’t think you need one. Weather changed quite quickly and although I didn’t mind walking around like I just jumped in a river. As I enjoy taking it all in...It did get a little breezy towards the end and had it been at the beginning of my tour it could have been ...not so fun :)
Excelente el viaje con Gustavo y Axel, y súper divertido Pablo en el bote Nos hizo reír mucho y nos sentimos muy seguros
The tour is divided into two parts. In the first, early morning, explore Místico Park with beautiful views from the suspension bridges and rainforest. Great guide Carlos! what explained everything about the park and helped us see the varied wildlife. The second part of the tour starts rafting!! Very funny (especially the first part of Grade III. Thanks to our guide Pita!! It concludes with a full lunch and tasting of regional coffee and sugar cane. Highly recommended!!!
