The crew was great, snorkeling was fun, lunch not so great but that’s ok. Unfortunately we had a cloudy day and no sunset.

You will love this sunset cruise from Tamarindo! The Marlin Del Rey is a 66-foot sailing catamaran that has no match for size, comfort or service. Capable of reaching speeds of 25 knots under sail, the Marlin Del Rey has the power to travel farther and faster than any other boat in Central America. Glide along Costa Rica’s Gold Coast while passing some of Guanacaste’s exotic bays, white sand beaches, and tropical jungles. Gaze off the bow with a cold tropical drink, prepared and served by our crew, as you scan the seas for dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish, or even a breaching whale. Stop in a tranquil bay, drop anchor and frolic in the blue Pacific. Snorkel in the bay or run down the deserted white sand beach while the ever helpful crew prepares a feast of BBQ chicken, yellow Spanish rice, fruit, chips, black bean puree, pico de gallo, and homemade chocolate chip cookies. As the Marlin del Rey Sailing Catamarans set sail, hear the waves slide along the giant catamaran as the sun sets, illuminating the clouds left in the sky. Bring your camera and capture the moments everyone throughout the world talks about when on board the Marlin del Rey Sailing Catamaran. Included: Snorkel Gear, Food, Open Bar

This was a great cruise - the sunset from the boat alone was worth it. The snorkeling wasn’t anything special but we did see several large sea turtles and dolphins! The homemade food was great and open bar is always a perk. Crew was friendly and helpful too.
Absolutely highlight of our trip. My son had so much fun. The crew was friendly, experienced and respectful. The entire process of boarding and disembarking was something I wish was detailed prior to booking.
It was okay. Boat ride was nice. Crew could have been more engaging. When we arrived at the snorkeling spot, they weren't helpful with mask fittings or assistance or any kind. Sunset was rhe highlight.
Amazing day on the Marlin! We saw so many fish while snorkeling and even an eagle ray! Magical experience for sure.
Rough waters due to recent storm in the area. Carlos and his crew worked hard getting us out there and back! Safety conscious, kind & tolerant of the annoying ones (there is always one or two right😂), served food and many drinks, fixed bathroom problems, were clear in their instructions and worked hard to give everyone a great experience! Water too rough for snorkeling but everyone jumped off the boat for a swim! It was beautiful. We feel this was the best thing we did over our whole trip! It was a GREAT day!
We booked the Catalina Islands snorkelling tour for two people, but my friend became seriously unwell overnight with vomiting and fever. Before our 6:40am pick-up, I spoke to Native’s Way by phone through our hotel concierge, explained exactly what had happened and made sure the driver did not come to collect us. We did not ask for a refund. We only asked whether our booking could be moved to another available day, as we were still in Tamarindo and still wanted to do the tour. What is particularly frustrating is that during that phone call, nobody even suggested that I could still go alone rather than lose both places. I was simply told to email management about moving the booking. Only afterwards did they refuse every possible accommodation and tell us we would need to pay again in full. No reschedule, no credit, no discount, no gesture of goodwill whatsoever. Their communication was also inconsistent. They first referred to a 48-hour cancellation policy, then later corrected themselves and said it was actually 72 hours. I understand that policies exist, but this was sudden illness, not a change of mind. We contacted them before pick-up and were still willing to take the tour on another day. The complete lack of compassion, flexibility or even basic practical help was honestly shocking. We never got to experience the tour itself, but based on the way we were treated, I would never book with Native’s Way again. Apparently, if you become ill on holiday, you simply lose your money and are expected to pay again.
This was our 3rd time and the sequels keep getting better. Over the past few years we have visited CR multiple times and this has been a constant that has never disappointed.
It was a great experience. The snorkeling was good, the boat was fun, and the drinks were fantastic.
Great experience with Marlin Del Rey! Great views, nice variety of activities & beautiful sunset. Would highly recommend :)
Excellent! Very good tour and group! Highly recommend!
The Marlin Del Ray Crew were excellent! Such a fun day and we saw dolphins on our way to the bay for snorkeling. it was less of a party boat and more just music, drinks and chilling in the sun - perfect.
We set sail from Tamarindo beach. It was a beautiful sunny day. We enjoyed the drinks, especially the pina colada with fresh pineapple. It was wavy but fun to snorkel around the rocks. We say many different kinds of fish. The lunch was delicious. Beautiful sunset views as we arrived back in Tamarindo. Pura vida!
This was an amazing day! The snorkeling and food was excellent. The boat had plenty of room for passengers and the crew was excellent. I highly recommend
The food was delicious and the bar service was excellent. This excursion offered a ton of fun and a memorable sunset.
The crew of the Marlin del Rey took great care of us from start to finish. The boat was clean and comfortable. The scenery and the sunset were outstanding. The snorkeling was fabulous. The drinks flowed non-stop and the food was tasty. Our whole group had a wonderful time. Would book this adventure again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
I wish this wasn’t advertised as a romantic sunset cruise, but rather a booze cruise. I would have known it wasn’t right for me. My biggest complaint is that you can’t wear shoes on the boat. This means you have to share a bathroom with 74 other people in your bare feet. There was no running water to wash your hands either (but there was hand sanitizer). I’m a big germaphobe so I really struggled with this. There were way more people on the boat than I expected. We sat inside as all of the outdoor seats were taken. The snorkeling technically happened but was pointless. The boat anchors so far from the beach and the current is so strong that unless you are an excellent swimmer, there is no way to get to the shallow area to actually see anything. They were very generous with drinks. Food looked average but tasted good to me. Staff was very friendly. I just really didn’t enjoy being packed in with that many people and no shoes. Not my idea of romance. :-)
Nice staff/crew but a long boat ride for no fish. I think we've been spoiled by Cozumel and the Bahamas...
The crew was attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious. Snorkeling was fun and the trip back at sunset was not only beautiful but it was also exciting as we saw lots of dolphins and rays.
Amazing! My daughter and her best friend enjoyed this very much with the included snorkeling. I enjoyed it as well.
Great experience! i would go again! Nice beverages to order, lunch very good food Nice to stop to watch whales near the ship too!
Absolutely wonderful! It was a beautiful catamaran. Bar service was super and food was great! We saw dolphins and humpback whales! The staff were friendly and fun!
Good catamaran experience. Be aware that you will not be able to wear your shoes on the boat. They will keep them in a bin for you. A couple falls were noted as it was difficult for some people to maintain balance. Great crew, helpful and drinks are plentiful! Don't expect great snorkeling but a refreshing, relaxing time in the water seeing a few fish. Beautiful sunset on well maintained boat.
The cruise portion was excellent as well as the crew and drinks/food. The snorkeling area however wasn’t as strong rips along the shore challenging for strong swimmers. There was no pre warning just a suggestion to bring a noodle along.
Wonderful experience! The only potential downside is if someone doesn’t like crowds, the boat can get a fair amount of people on there, which can also add to the fun, but if you want a more private experience than that might be a distraction. Food was good, beautiful surroundings, saw sea turtle, and humpback whale!
There’s huge portions of food to be served, amazing views, great swims and strong drinks! Is a must.
The boat size is just perfect and not so massive. There was fun music, drinks and very professional, attentive staff. The dinner was a tasty chicken, bean and rice. If you are expecting clear snorkeling experience then you will be disappointed. This is primarily a sunset cruise. The water is too murkey to see much.
The captain and crew were all great, friendly and helpful when ever you needed them! The food was very good and great mix of drinks available, you won’t be disappointed!
It was a great day, beautiful weather, friendly crew . We spotted whales, a mom and her baby… and dolphins as well . The lunch was tasty and the drinks flowed all day.
The crew were very friendly & helpful. They were looking after our safety while making sure our glasses were full 😊! The boat & equipment were in good condition & sailing very smooth!
Great excursion with great food, drinks and snorkeling! Staff took great care of us, served us drinks from the time we got on the boat and we actually saw a stingray and many fish while we snorkeled! Beautiful white sand beach that they took us to and nice blue waters along the way. Great day!!
Knowledgeable and engaging Captain, friendly crew who went above and beyond in attending to guests. Delicious food and drinks. Good amount of time in the water.
We are repeat customers - every trip we see something new. This trip included hermit crabs by the snorkling spot, dolphins jumping by the boat, sting rays floating nearby, and brown boobies flying overhead. Great food and crew !
Good food, drinks offered constantly, good swimming spots to snorkel by a beautiful secluded beach. Got to see a humpback swim by during a beautiful sunset!
Fantastic experience for the sunset cruise and snorkel. We loved the boat and the views along the way. Snorkeling didn’t have great visibility but still a wonderful experience with excellent staff on the boat.
My husband, 2 adult daughters and I had a great time on the sunset cruise. The crew was nice and helpful, snorkeling enjoyable and beautiful sunset. And even made some new friends who we met out later at night!
Incredible day on the water!!! The captain and crew were very friendly, interacted with guests and were extremely attentive. The captain lead the way, conversing, getting drinks, cleaning up things, We anchored in a bay and swam, snorkeled, paddle boarded, walked the beach and on the sail back, had some yummy food and viewed a gorgeous sunset ending with an ocean view of the night-time lights of Tamarindo.
We loved our cruise. It was a small group, the food was yummy, open bar, good snorkel, great sunset views. The crew was friendly & helpful. The boat was comfortable & wasn't overly full. When leaving from Coco you board a small boat directly from the shore so you do need to be able to step up, or kind of sit & swivel, to get to the boat.
It was an amazing experience on the last day of 2025! The crew were so great and the sunset was incredible. Food, drinks, everything was top notch.
Wonderful time spent sailing out to the snorkeling spot. Drinks were served for a relaxing chill vibe. And seeing sea turtles along the way was thrilling. The snorkeling on our particular day was not as one would hope. But enjoyable nonetheless. Diving/jumping/sliding off of the catamaran made for a fun afternoon. The lunch served was surprisingly delicious and fresh. And for the finale, the sunset on the return trip was spectacular. We were lucky enough to have dolphins join us!
It was nice but way overbooked and we left late and came back early. Didn’t go to most of the places in the itinerary
The sunset was something i could never have never imagined. Th crew was perfect. only thing I would caution you is that there is zero ability to go snorkeling and see fish. The area we swam had zero visibility. It's more of an ocean swim, which was perfectly fine with us.
Great experience! A little adventurous taking the small boats to the catamaran, but then a lovely cruise up the coast with a snorkel stop. The crew made sure we had plenty to eat and drink, and the sunset and sky colors as we pulled back to Tamarindo were beautiful. Took my wife and college-age kids and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend.
Way too many people on this tour. We had 80 people and they said they would’ve put another 20 on if they could. This catamaran cannot handle that many people. Food was mediocre. The dinghy to get on and off the boat were so overcrowded, We thought we were going to sink. Coming in after just getting dry, the dinghy operator, soaked everybody landing at the beach at the end of the tour unintentionally, but we all still got wet.
The boat was super clean and they were attentive to our needs, always bringing us drinks, and taking empty cups. One time my mom stood up and didn’t ask for anything but the guy brought a cushion for her and somehow knew exactly what she needed. The food was delicious! Everyone was super nice. There could have just been a little more instruction on the snorkeling. It was really windy the day we went so the water was a little murky.
Excellent outing for our final day in Costa Rica. The crew was punctual, attentive, fun, experienced, and knowledgeable. We had a perfect weather day for a smooth ride, while spotting feeding frenzies of black tuna, brown boobies, mating sea turtles, and spotted dolphins. The scenery was beautiful among the islands and the stop at the white sand beach for snorkeling was way better than expected. Saw a gadzillion black urchins, puffer fish, and a wide array of beautiful colourful fish. The lunch was delicious and the post snorkelling vibe fun with music and dancing. The sunset was stunning, painting the sky with lasting colour. We never did put up the sails which would have been nice but all in all a fab trip worth the price. Kudos to the great crew!
The crew was amazing and the ride so peaceful and beautiful. They keep drinks coming to you and there are plenty of places to sit and have a great view, even with a mostly-full tour. Due to rains, we didn't see much while snorkeling, but the ride was so amazing, we didn't care. This is a great way to end a trip!
The Boat Ride was Excellent. Great music and company. The lunch was quite good and filling. The water was churned up from all the rain for snorkeling. There was a cave to tour the day we went. The Sunset did deliver a beautiful sunset. The boat remained still for the entire sunset time till it fully disappeared which gave an amazing light show!. The boat is well equipped and clean. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The marina area turned a light purple with the pink-orange remnants of the sunset remaining when we returned to shore.
We had an excellent day. We had 16 people On our boat so it felt like we had a private tour. All of the staff and captain Dominic were amazing. Staff were friendly, boat was spotless and food was great. I would say a perfect day! We did the morning tour and we were glad we did as the rain came in just as we got off the boat! 10/10.
We had an amazing time on the Marlin del Rey catamaran tour! From start to finish, the experience was seamless, relaxing, and so much fun. The crew was incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure everyone was safe, comfortable, and having a great time. The atmosphere on board was lively and friendly, and we loved meeting and chatting with other travelers. Whether you’re looking to soak up the sun, explore marine life, or just enjoy a fun day out on the ocean, this tour checks all the boxes. Highly recommended!
