Mhh the boat ride was nice but took majority of the time was only in the water for about 45 mins before they wanted everyone to head back in. Food was okay too not the best.

We had a wonderful time on the catamaran cruise! The snorkeling was great, and the sunset was absolutely beautiful. The food provided was delicious, and we really enjoyed the smaller, more intimate feel of the boat—it felt almost like a fun family outing with the other passengers. The meeting place was also very easy to find. Overall, a fantastic experience we would definitely recommend!
So much fun. The crew was great - very accommodating. Kept our drinks full. Made sure we got off and on safely. Delicious lunch. Loved snorkeling - saw lots of beautiful fish. Even though it rained on us we still had a great time.
For some reason, the tour we took isn’t showing up. It was the snorkeling at Catalinas Island. t was a colossal waste of time and money. The trip was primarily for scuba divers and all the attention was paid to them. The boat ride took about an hour and the area is not at all gentle as advertised. We were handed the masks and flippers and told to jump in. My daughter had never snorkeled before and was not even told how to clear her snorkel. I had to tell her how to do it. We spent a ridiculous amount of time waiting for the divers to jump off in two separate places and then get back on. The “guide,” and I use that term loosely, barely spoke to us, just told us to stay together, and that was about it. Total waste of time and money.
It was a great time & we had great weather. There were 13 in our group and another 4 people we didn’t know. Perfect amount for the boat. The food was good & the staff was helpful. Would definitely book this again.
Amazing day. Saw turtles, people went into the ocean if they wanted to. The drinks were always pouring and its always nice to see a stranger get sea sick and try to vomit accurately in a solo cup. The walk to and from was easy from our resort and a sunset walk on the beach was absolutely magical.
This was our third time out with blue dolphin they are very professional and make sure everyone having a good time ! Excellent lunch and lots of beverages
great time, great views, great drinks
Great experience. Relaxing and fun vibes with the crew. They were very hospitable, and provided an amazing lunch along with the adventure.
The boat tour was very fun! It was very wavy and windy the day we set sail, but they kept us safe and happy! It was also a very good lunch we had on the boat! They played good music and were friendly. All types of ages were on the boat!
If you are looking for getting drunk and listening to loud Latin music for 5 hours straight in hot sun, totally, go for it. But just so you know, there was no dolphin or whale watching or snorkeling. They don’t even have enough life jackets or snorkels . They had couple of kayaks and one paddle board which was not enough. They say they saw dolphins and whales yesterday but if it doesn’t happen today is because the waters are murky. Personally I don’t think so. We were there for snorkeling and dolphin or whale watching. It was the most disappointing experience we had in Costa Rica.
There were 4 of us in our sixties, we had an amazing time. Once we boarded we sail for about an hour up the coast to a cove where we stopped for about 90 minutes. Some snorkeled but we swam to a great little beach ⛱️. And walked the beach and sunned. Once back on the boat had an awesome lunch. On the cruise back to Tamarindo beach we saw a whale and her babies. The boat stopped for about 15 minutes so we could get some pics. Captain Chute and his crew were very friendly and attentive to everyone's needs. We booked through our hotel and felt the value for the price was great. I would recommend.
We had a great time with Blue Dolphin! The whole crew was very friendly and made sure we were happy and taken care of with snacks, drinks, and a delicious meal. Directions and guidance on board were great, too.
Nice boat. The crew led by Carlos were fun and helpful. We went out on a very windy day and it made getting the launch into shore to pick us up and take us to the catamaran quite challenging, but they showed their expertise. The drinks, food, music and activities were all very nice. Snorkeling was a little less than it would have been on a calmer day but still fun.
It was a fun experience overall. The boat staff were friendly and helpful. Our boat was about half full, which felt perfect. Any more people would have made it feel crowded. The highlight was being out on the water, listening to music, and enjoying the all you can drink service. The boat stayed fairly close to shore and within view of town, so there was not much to see beyond what you could already see from land. We did not spot any dolphins, which they said is rare, or whales, even though the crew seemed hopeful. The snorkeling was good if you swam farther out toward the rocks. The lunch was also good. Overall, it felt more like a fun party on the water rather than a sightseeing excursion.
I had originally booked the full day Nicaragua tour, but I had an unfortunate situation and was unable to access my passport from my hotel security box the night before the tour. It would not have been possible to enter Nicaragua without my passport, so I had no choice other to cancel going on the tour last minute. In no way was Native's Way responsible for my misfortune, but after exchanging a few emails the next day with the Native's Way management, they were kind enough to comp me a spot on the Sunset Cruise that day instead. They didn't need to comp me anything, but they did and I thought that showed a lot of class from the management to help me. I hope next time I will be able to go on the full day Nicaragua tour, but I still had a great time that day on the Sunset Cruise. Thank you Native's Way, you made a case of misfortune turn out all right that day.
Short sail to a private beach around the point. Snorkeling was decent, saw several varieties of fish. Drinks were served throughout the trip. Food was good and the crew was very friendly. Ends with the sunset.
It was so much fun! We saw a whale and a sea turtle. Got to go explore a private beach and had a delicious fajita taco meal! The guides were so fun and friendly!
Great day on the ocean. Swimming, whale spotting, and delicious food and drink options. The sunset was amazing to watch while sailing in.
We loved this cruise! We saw Whales and turtles!! Food was amazing! Captain and crew were great! We highly recommend!!!
Great crew and fun experience for families or couples. There was a long boat ride where we saw turtles and whales, then activities like snorkeling, swimming, kayaking and lunch.
A little party on boat, nice seascapes, snorkeling, as always good costa rican food and drinks. I liked that all. Thanks Dolphins!
We booked for the catamaran and paid for transportation. The company did not come to pick us up or inquire about our whereabouts. When I called they said they saw us on the list for the excursion but they forgot to come and pick us up. They wanted to reschedule but I refused because they are clearly unreliable. Ruined my day!
Great cruise exactly as advertised. I wouldn't go if you are looking for anything other than a beautiful cruise and sunset😁
The crew & the Costa Rican food were amazing. Had a great experience on the boat & they timed it so we could be aboard for the sunset. We had an impromptu dance party. I don’t drink, but the cocktails flowed & there was plenty of ice & water & nonalcoholic beverages. The boat is very comfortable for the 25 or so guests aboard. The crew is extremely friendly & very professional. You’ll want to tip these guys generously.
We had a great trip! We loved the double front hammocks and the boat was very nice with lots of seating options. The staff made the trip an exceptional experience making sure we were comfortable. Francisco was amazing. He helped my daughter who felt a little sea sick and he was our snorkeling guide helping us find amazing places to see marine life. He even taught my daughter how to dive down and she was able to see star fish, a puffer fish, an octopus among several other amazing sights. We even drove right next to a sea turtle on our return. Really pleased with our experience.
Make sure to read through reviews. This was advertised as private and luxury which it definitely was not. It is advertised as a sunsent cruise but we were back to the beach prior to sunset happening. The catamaran itself is not a luxury vessil. It is one of the smallest catamarans I've been on with a small net area. We did not snorkel or use kayak because the area we docked was not conducive for those activities. The staff was very nice but this cruise is focused more on drinking and should be advertised as a fun booze cruise type tour.
Great catamaran trip. There was about 20 people on the boat. The catamaran is anchored offshore shore and we were taken out to it by boat. Transfers between boats was good. Adult beverages were good and there was even lunch served (chicken, rice, tortillas, slaw, some veggies, fresh fruit, banana bread, and there was chips and bean dip as snacks). Conditions were not good for snorkeling the day i went but they had kayaks, paddleboard, pool noodles, and life vests for those that aren't strong swimmers. For strong swimmers, there was a beach you could go to. The crew was amazing and fun.
First I want to start off that if you are wanting a quiet, romantic boat ride, DO NOT book this tour. This boat ride is more for young adults who want to party and have a good time. The staff crammed to many people in the boat and do not plan accordingly. They put 40 plus individuals on a catamaran that should have had 25 people max. The crew was nice and the food was good. I felt like they stuffed as many people into the boat just to make money for themselves. When we were getting off of the boat and coming to shore, they stuffed half of us on a small dinghy which almost tipped multiples times on the way back. The staff do not put the safety of their guests first. Their boating skills were subpar, and that is coming from someone who grew up and was raised in the sailing and boating world. I would personally not recommend this company and I would go with another company that cares about their guests.
Fun trip! Crew was helpful, friendly and wanted us to enjoy all aspects of the trip. Great snorkeling and meal was delicious. Beautiful sunset ride back to the beach.
Very fun and relaxing trip. Crew was great! Amazing sunset timed precisely upon our return. Food and drinks were good. You might want to keep your cell phone in a waterproof carrier.
We’ve used Blue Dolphin a few times in our past visits and have always had great experiences, and this one was no different. The crew always so fun, kind, and attentive went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time. Thank you Daniel and staff! We had a wonderful time on the beautiful CR seas with you.
Wonderful experience with friendly crew and fun environment. Snorkeling, open bar, delicious light meal, great music and beautiful sunset! Will make this a must do excursion for every visit to Tamarindo.
Well worth it. Beautiful ride, staff was fun and we were very comfortable. The sunset was a truley spectacular sight! The staff seemed to understand what each group was looking for.
Definitely recommend! Great experience, great crew, & great food and drinks!! A must do experience in Tamarindo!
Brilliant trip crew were amazing..very friendly and happy to chat. We really enjoyed it..and was great value
The guides here were excellent! Very good service and super friendly. We went with a bigger group, so beware it can be crowded on the boat and the bathroom on the boat is very small and difficult to flush. I wasn't expecting for there to be so many people this day, but it is what it is. They also don't take you onto a beach so you only get to swim in the middle of the ocean, which would only have been nicer if it was sunnier that day and not as windy. Definitely a party boat!
Great time! Friendly staff, tasty drinks and food. We felt very safe traveling with 60+ in age parents.
This cruise was absolutely perfect. The guys were so attentive to all the guests and their mother's food was amazing! The banana bread was extra good:) Everything was wonderful, and I would highly recommend this excursion!
Wonderful experience. Great music, food, people, drinks. Employees were knowledgeable, friendly and super fun. Look forward to doing this tour again!
Weather was sketchy and the trip probably should have been canceled. Went anyway and the sea was rough. Trip out to snorkeling location was very uncomfortable. The music was very loud (probably need to be less than 30 for this booze cruise) and the sea was rough. Food was great and crew was attentive. Left snorkeling early because the sea was getting worse. Boat started taking on water. Engines could not keep up with the swells and were shut down because boat was riding low in the very rough water. Crew started bailing water (worked hard with urgency) and calling for help. Marlin catamaran came out to tow us into the beach. Never felt like we were in serious danger but it was more uncomfortable and stressful than I think vacation activities should be.
The crew was nice and we all ended up having a good time. I think we were expecting a larger boat with better seating but it was ok with the 30ish people that were on the sunset cruise. I was a little concerned about getting on and off the boat as it wasn’t easy so if you are clumsy or handicap in any way be aware. A few people got close to seasick but they gave them some pills which helped. We saw whales and dolphins and the captain took time to stop and give us time to see them and take pictures. The crew made sure to check in for drink refills -pretty sure there wasn’t any alcohol in them though lol.
I had such a great time on this trip! The crew was funny and attentive. The other guests were laid back and everyone had a great time. We anchored near a small beach for a while and we were all jumping in, snorkeling and swimming around. It’s rainy season, so the water is a bit cloudy with sand, but no one minded. The fruit and food offered was fresh and delicious, and there was no shortage of drinks! We were all so excited to see three humpback whales and then a gorgeous sunset. I fully recommend this trip. I went alone and met some really great people. Will definitely go again when I return to Tamarindo.
Took this afternoon tour - 5 1/2 hours. 2 hours extremely choppy trip on relatively small cramped (too many people) catamaran to a very, very small oil streaked beach. Had to swim hundred yards plus to shore in rough water and few life jackets — only noodles. No snorkling. Water dirty and cannot see 1 foot in front of you. No snorkling equipment. When back on boat, exhausted. Had a light meal of warm watermelon and pineapple and get this, one service of rice and chicken. Said no seconds. Foot was warm at best and wraps were cold. Then headed back, a bit easier than going but still uncomfortable as no place to sit as boat overcrowded. Then got on smaller boat to take you to shore. Rickety ladder and really difficult to board and inboard. Got soakened wet as waves swamped small boat. And of course the crew wanted tips. And solicited tips. When got to shore said would write a review to share with other potential boaters. Run Forest Run!
Such a fun sail, not even the rain could spoil. The guys were very helpful, well organized and entertaining. The cooler of Blue Dolphin Cocktails were enjoyed all round. A spot of fishing, dancing, eating and swimming. Thanks to the crew for a lovely sail and sunset cruise. Would definitely recommend.
We had a great time. Only downside is the boat is very slippery and more than one person slipped on the trip.
Friendly atmosphere , great mix of music and ages onboard, felt safe, ok drinks; watered down for a reason lol, and most important got to swim in the ocean and saw the Sunset on a Catamaran; Beautiful. Price compared to other companies was very reasonable; food was really good on the Catamaran.
These guys are the best! Amazing Staff. Friendly, Attentive, and accommodating on all levels. Chute is the pinnacle of captains. Make this a part of your trip to Tamarindo!
Positives: Food was good. Crew was friendly and wanted to ensure people were having a good time. Sunset was beautiful. Better for a younger crowd. Negatives for me and my friends who are in the 55+ club: Sails were not deployed which was a big disappointment. We stopped at a beach but there was no transportation from the boat to the beach. You either had to climb down a very steep set of metal stairs between the nets, or jump off the side of the catamaran, and swim to the beach. Several people were not comfortable with doing that and stayed on the boat. Music was geared toward a younger crowd which is fine but it was played at a loud volume that made it hard to hear others talking.
This could have been a great experience, but the crew was disorganized and we waited around for over an hour to get loaded & underway. They booked too many people and it wasn’t easy to get around on the catamaran. The food & drinks were excellent, but the unloading in the dark in choppy water was hazardous.
