Beginners Surf Lessons On Tamarindo Beach

This was a good lesson. Our teacher isn’t one of those set up as a stand in front of the hotels though, he’s a local guy who brings the boards with him for the lesson. It was a very personalized session for my 8 yr old and his mom. The board my son had was a bit small for him so let this guide know if you are above or below average size when you communicate so he can match the board to your size. It was fine though, he could not have known my son and I are the same size! The instructor taught us the basics on the beach then we spent a few hours getting pushed and coached into waves. My biggest worry with surfing is I’m going to get into other people’s way, so having a guide was such a relief. He took some cute pictures of us during and after the lesson.

I had an amazing experience with Sweet Costa Rica. Everything was very well organized, and the team was professional, responsible, and always attentive. I received great surf lessons and enjoyed a beautiful sunset surf session in Tamarindo — truly unforgettable. More than just a tour, it was an authentic experience. Highly recommended!

I booked this looking to catch a few waves and maybe make a local friend. What I got ~far~ surpassed my expectations. We went to this beautiful spot that’s very easy to learn at and stayed in the water during sunset - unreal. With his friendly feedback and guidance I stood up probably 25 times! He's such a great teacher, he really made it easy. I feel a confidence in surfing now that I had never gotten from other instructors. AND he was incredibly kind, friendly, funny and chill. One of my favorite new friends of my journey so far! Couldn’t recommend more!! 11/10!!!

What an experience! Manny was my instructor. He did a great job explaining how to get up. First time trying it and I was horrible. :) Manny was so patient and encouraging. I definitely recommend Sweet Costa Rica for your surfing lessons.

Emanuele was an amazing instructor. This was my very first time surfing and he made me feel super comfortable. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. He was very patient with me and was genuinely excited when I got up and caught some waves. Highly recommend.

We took beginning surf lessons from Sebastian and he was absolutely Wonderful! We went for my moms 60th birthday and he made the whole process super easy and fun. There was 3 of us in the group and he made sure all of us were able to catch a wave before the day was done. He was super knowledgeable and a great teacher. Lastly he picks you up from your place and has all the equipment and beverages ready to go. Highly recommend this group!

Sebastian was awesome! His English was great and he was super patient with us beginners. We learned so much and found ourselves riding waves well before the end of the session. This is such a great value. 2 hours of helpful instruction with rash guards, boards, and bottled water included. Cannot recommend these guys enough. 5 stars.

It was amazing. Raúl was really friendly , experienced and gave us so many tips. The only downside is that you understand that it will be a long way before you can surf like Raúl. I guess I have to live at the beach and surf for 10 more years to reach that level!

Sebastian was wonderful! We had different ability levels and languages in the lesson and he accommodated everyone perfectly. He is a fabulous teacher and made sure we all succeeded!

We surfed with our instructor, Kevin! It was absolutely amazing. Kevin cheered us on, taught us a lot, and even helped us change our flat tire after. I LOVED learning to surf, and walked away wanting to go again! Kevin’s a rockstar!!

It was an incredible experience with a really helpful instructor. I'm a complete novice (I've never surfed and I've never done anything remotely similar to surfing, like skateboarding or snowboarding). I still was able to catch some waves and learned a ton!

Marcos & Agostino ( I think it was his name) helped my daughters to surf. The girls loved their session. Both instructors were patient, sweet and so excited when the girls finally got the hang of it! Marcos picked us up our hotel and suggested a good time of the day to take the girls to surf. They made it fun and provided positive feedback to keep them encouraged to not give up! We would use them again! Thanks guys!

Turned out to be way more fun than I thought it would be! Sebastian is a natural teacher. Very patient, instructs clearly, enthusiastic. Came equipped with zinc ointment and rash guard. This is a great way to come closer to the pelicans and enjoy the warmer hours of the day. Worth every penny, planning on doing it again.

My lesson today with Sebastian was so amazing that I have to write this feedback right afterwards ;) ! Sebastian is both very professional and very friendly, we feel good with him from the start. And that's important. He is clearly a real surfer who likes to share his passion for surfing. And he knows how to adapt and personalize the lesson according to your level and that is also very important. And in two hours you learn a lot, it's crazy ;) !!! Practice of course but also a whole lot of exciting stuff that will open your eyes and make you learn surfing in the best possible way. In short, book your surf lesson without hesitation, you will come out with stars in your eyes...

Marco was a great down to Earth instructor. He worked very hard to make a great experience. Definitely recommend. I checked out other places and watched how they instructed but Marco has a very distinct way of teaching that is too notch.

This company is unbelievable. I highly recommend for any and all activities from surfing to waterfalls the owner was able to provide an unforgettable experience for my family and I. We have traveled to Tamarindo in the past and have used other companies before but will now only be recommending this company. They are professional on time and always responsive.

We choose it because of the reviews and they were not wrong, Sebastian was super polite and professional, with a lot of patience for teaching the technique for surfing, all of us take a wave and have so much fun. This convinced us to do another tour and was an amazing local experience, we went to local beach's, private spots, rivers and so much places that are not were the tourist usually go. If you want something different and fun go with SWEET.

This was our first time surfing (me and my boyfriend), and I was beyond happy with our lesson. Sebastian was an awesome instructor and made it a fun experience. The thrill of catching a wave and standing up on the board for the first time is worth every penny. While we were out on the water, we saw beautiful rainbows that made the experience that much better. Book this activity!!

Tamarindo Beach is the perfect place to take a surf lesson for beginners, since the gentle waves and the sandy bottom make learning safe and accessible; furthermore, the instructors are extremely patient and explain the technique in detail on the beach before entering the water, which allows practically anyone to manage to stand up on the board and enjoy their first wave from the first attempt.

The people who teach you are very friendly, personally it was my first time in a surf lesson and I enjoyed it very much, I would love to come back, my advice for the next travelers is to go with all the attitude and willing to enjoy and learn
