Itinerary
One of the most amazing places to visit while traveling in Costa Rica is the Arenal Volcano Rain Forest. It’s most popular tourist destinations in the country, Its located 3 hrs. away from Liberia City, in la Fortuna Town. In this trip we include a typical breakfast close to the Arenal lake, them when we arrive at the Fortuna town where is located the Arenal Volcano, you’ll be in a combination of suspension bridges and trails with heights that exceed the treetops where you’ll see the exuberant tropical forests of Costa Rica from all perspectives, enjoying magnificent views. The hike lasts about two and a half hours in the middle of the forest. After hike, you will enjoy a fabulous authentic lunch and them you will be in the magic hot springs of Arenal Volcano. You can’t leave Costa Rica without knowing the real amazing rain forest that it has.

This was a long but well organized tour from our all inclusive resort inland to see the rainforest near La Fortuna. It was a good way to get a taste of Costa Rica in a day; we enjoyed some good food, our guide was very helpful on our hike and pointed out lots of wildlife; make sure to bring swimsuits for the thermal pools, we totally forgot and paid a fortune for some when we got there, still worth it though
We were in the Papgayos area for our vacation and stumbled on Simbiosis Bistroin Playa de Coco, and met Rosbin. What a great person. The Bistro he runs with his wife is very nice and the tours he offers are great! We did the Coffee/Cocoa tour the day before and had a fantastic time with our guide, Mainor, and decided to do this tour with him.
What a wonderful day trip. We started by having a delicious authentic Costa Rican breakfast at a local restaurant . The hike through the rainforest near Arenal Volcano was beautiful. Lunch was tasty. Nes was a great guide. The day ended with a couple of relaxing hours at the hot springs.
Manuel helped us a lot though out the trip. He had lots of patience and explained everything in detail through rainforest hike.
It was refreshing to venture away and see a different part of Costa Rica. We stayed in Tamarindo (great town). It is a LONG day on the road for 2 activities + 2 meals. A few had nauseous (3 of 6 adults) as the drive went uphill and many switchbacks in the Arenal region. We all agreed we wouldn't want to drive this on our own, leave it to the locals. Roads very narrow. We were very happy to see we were provided rain ponchos (by the tour co.) as it was misty rain while hiking in the Arenal rain forest (which it does 75% of the time). The hanging bridges are a part of the hike, not a separate stop. It was fairly easy but some inclines. We are all early 50's. I'd recommend wearing water resistant tennis type shoes (socks) an as we all had wet feet. Or bring extra shoes & socks (flip flops for the pools). The hot spring pools were in a hotel type setting (where late lunch was as well) not out in nature (as some of us thought). One of the pools has a bar so you can grab a drink (MC & Visa accepted, no Amex). Breakfast and lunch were fine - typical CR food offerings. We eat pescatarian and there was varieties so no issue. It might have been more authentic to eat at a small venue or soda type restaurant along the mountain drive. Manuel was such a pleasant guy. He was conversational and shared CR tidbits with us throughout the day. He continually kept watch on the hike for cool species to share with us. Came across a couple. If you want to spend a night or two in Arenal (La Fortuna) on your own plan a driver. Overall it was interesting but wouldn't need to repeat.
Celeste is must see Waterfall. Our guide Julio from Native Way was great. Knowledgeable, caring, attentive to our needs, funny. Trip and hike was worth every penny and effort.
To start the driver was on time. We ended up having a private tour, we were the only ones who booked that tour that day. We stopped for traditional Coata Rican breakfast. Next stop park with hanging bridges. As they day progressed we were able to see more of the top of volcano. We saw different birds, lizards and a squirrel. We went a good pace and finished in about two hours or so. We a traditional lunch and spent time in hot springs . On the drive home we a sloth on the side of the road. 10/10 experience Manual was a great tour guide.
Ask for Nesmar- brilliant person and guide. Perfect day in Arenal- you can’t go wrong with this one. Fyi bit of a long day- however very comfortable throughout!
The private arenal hanging bridges tour is worth your time and money! From start to finish, Manual was at our service. He picked us up from our hotel and explained the entirety of our day. We stopped for a typical Costa Rican breakfast and then headed out to the rainforest. The drive is very long from Papaguyo(2-3 hours depending on traffic), but the rainforest is gorgeous! Once we made it to Mistico park we started out on our adventure. We saw birds, frogs, monkeys and even a tree sloth. Our kids 18 and 21 loved the experience. After the hike and hanging bridges, we headed to the hot springs for lunch and relaxation. It was an amazing day and Manual was an excellent tour guide!
Wonderful tour by Nesmer! Very kind and personable, full of information about the country, our tour stops, and the flora/fauna. His falcon-like ability to pick out hard-to-find animals was amazing. Very attentive to our needs during the long drives to/from Tamarindo including a couple extra stops along the way. Really enjoyed our The Arenal national park was amazing, a beautiful ecosystem unlike anything in the continental U.S. Very walkable with lots of up and down slopes on wall-marked and well-maintained paths. About 25 degrees cooler than Tamarindo, as expected, and it rained for much of the walk. For the hot springs, we were at a water park with thermal pools. We were expecting something more “natural” but a was a very nice resort with clean, enjoyable pools - very relaxing after many hours of driving and walking. Also had a good buffet lunch here. Did not include towels as expected but we managed. Overall, an excellent experience for us that we happily recommend.
We loved our experience, our tour guide "Minor" was amazing! He picked us up straight from our hotel and took us to get breakfast. After, he told us some history and facts about the animal and plant life in CR as we drove to the Arenal Volcano area for our 2 mile hike. We were fully immersed into the nature and Minor was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and different Plants and trees. Our next destination was Lunch at the Hot springs in the Baldi Hotel resort. There were several different pools and saunas to run between and bar for an even more enjoyable experience. I would give this excursion a 10/10. The vehicle was spotless and clean, spacious and air conditioned. If you do this excursion, ask for Minor and bring cash for tips!
The tour was great! Jonathan our tour guide and Nas the driver were so knowledgeable and could not do enough for us. It was just the two of us. We decided not to do the hot springs portion of the tour. When we told them they would have an early day, instead of taking the early day suggested a sloth tour. Nas made a call or two and got it sorted with lunch. No extra charge. What a tour it was! Saw a red eye frog, toucans and a baby sloth that was so close you could reach out and touch it which we didn’t do! It was a perfect day!
Very expensive, long duration, you can’t see wildlife only trees. The hot springs are in beautiful resorts but the water is very hot and you can’t stay more than 30-60 seconds. We didn’t get the breakfast in cafe macadamia which was included in the trip when I booked it.
Lovely day seeing the beauty of Costa Rica. We were picked up on-time by our tour guide Nesmer (Nes). He was very friendly and was gracious enough to help us practice our spanish. It's a long drive (3.5 hrs) from the Riu Palace; however the scenery is beautiful and Nes pointed out many sites along the way and offered lots of great information about the country. We arrived in Arenal (Mystic Park) and spent a couple hours walking through the park on a very well maintained path and the hanging bridges (it's not really a hike, more of a walk). It was spectacular despite the pouring rain. Beautiful views! We then loaded back in the car soaking wet despite rain gear (that's how much it rained) and drove to Baldi Hot Springs Resort. We were able to spend several hours enjoying the beautiful pools and a lovely lunch. It's a long day (13 hours), but a lovely opportunity to see the countryside and multiple vantage points of the volcano (when the clouds miraculously cleared) and Lake Arenal. Nes was a great tour guide and driver. The car was very clean, comfortable and roomy for our family of 4 and all our bags! Highly recommend this excursion with this provider Seven Senses!
Plan a 13 hour day. 3 hours in van 1- way. Tourists need water, none provided. Good lunch and hot springs. Unable to see volcano due to clouds and rain. Hanging bridges and hike were good. Waterfall side hike closed due to renovations. Park was impressive.Start of rainy season in May. Guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Maybe do a closer Excursion next time.
Our guide was Mainor Chicon(?). He was exceptional. So knowledgeable in all aspects of the tour. Flora, fauna, economy, history, etc. He was delightful and was so interested in what he was doing. Loved every minute of it. It’s a drive though. So prepare for that. We were at RIU Palace. Roads are in bad shape and there’s a bridge closure that is totally beyond inconvenience. Two hours to wait in line to get across. ( I thought I’d not make it to the next bathroom and one guy actually got off and peed on the side of the road while we were waiting). Gotta get a better plan for travelers and workers alike. Call ahead and find out if it’s better yet. But the actual tour itself was phenomenal and we’d ask for Mainor again anytime. We liked Seven Senses tours better than the other two which were Amstar. They were good but many more people on each one.
We took our tour with the tour guide named Minor. He was exceptional. Minor was extremely knowledgeable about all of the plants and animals to explore here in Costa Rica. Whenever we had questions, he readily answered them. If he did not know the answer, he made sure that the question was answered before the end of the tour. He also kept us entertained with great conversation and history of Costa Rica. Without his level of excitement and expertise, our trip would not have been the same. Thank you, minor!
This tour was great! Our tour guide Minor was one of the best guides I've had in any country. He was so knowledgeable and explained all the types of plants and species of animals. He even heard a poison dart frog in the woods and got him to come right to his phone! The weather was perfect; volcano was clear from clouds. Even as we headed back to the hotel, our guide pulled over twice so we could see a sloth in the wild and a pair of Tucans! Keep in mind travel time, it is 4 1/2 hours each way (the roads are very narrow and windy), it makes for a long day but worth every minute! Would highly recommend to anyone.
Our guide Nesmer was fantastic! He took his time and explaining everything. We had a blast! Would recommend to anyone.
Picked up by Mainor who was our dedicated guide. Nice gentleman, warm and easy to speak with and showing a genuine love for his country. Although the drive was a long one from Tamarindo, Mainor kept us engaged for the entire journey and was very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, and he gave us a very comprehensive overview of Costa Rican culture. Stopped for breakfast along the way which was delicious, as was lunch at the hot springs which were very relaxing after the Arenal hanging bridges rainforest tour. Saw some fauna (not as much as we would have liked but we understood that seeing local fauna is not a guarantee). All in all a very pleasant albeit long day, and we would highly recommend Mainor as a tour guide without hesitation . 🙂
Beautiful Mystic park with suspended bridges giving unbelievable views of the volcano and jungle. Our guide, Mainor, was amazing, pointing out many interesting facts and explaining the wildlife. We really loved the hot springs experience also, so relaxing!
We had an amazing time! Our guide Martine was really knowledgable and friendly. The drive was about 3 hours from our hotel which felt very long but the activities made up for the long drive. The hike was not strenuous and sky bridges were beautiful ! We even saw a waterfall. The Baldi hot springs was the highlight of our trip! It was so relaxing wish we stayed there even longer!
This was such an incredible experience. Mynor was our guide and he was such a friendly and acknowledgeable person. He taught us a lot about plants and birds and he would go above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. We enjoyed booking with this company that we also booked another tour with them the next day! We would definitely recommend booking any activity with them. They arrived early to pick us up and dropped us off to our hotel safely. It was hard to find a company to pick us up from dreams las mareas but they came through. Thank you so much for everything!
Humberto did an awesome job guiding us through the rainforest and making stops along the way. I really enjoyed the hot spring baths and the views along the way. The trip is private, no large group.
The whole day trip was a perfect way to experience Costa Rica! Fantastic experience of Misticopark by Arenal Volcano, hanging bridges, beautiful waterfalls, picturesque nature and landscapes all around, great buffet lunch and finishing the day soaking in the hot springs at Baldi thermal pools and spa. Certainly more than worth the long drive from the JW Marriott Guanacaste to experience the wildlife and rainforest!! Perfect day trip for families and kids! Lots of adventure and action, very safe and relaxing! Humberto provided us with a wonderful experience with several stops at local spots for The best iced coffees, views, and an authentic Costa Rica day! Very highly recommended!!!!! Book immediately if youre in CR!🇨🇷
From start to finish the communication was excellent. Even though there were only 2 of us, they still ran the tour. Our guide and driver was Mainor. He drove safely, was very knowledgeable, interesting and kind. We had a wonderful experience with him guiding us through the rainforest trail and pointing out everything he thought might interest us. The pace was perfect. It’s a LONG drive (4+ hours each way) from where we stayed, but we thought it was worth it! The van was also in excellent condition- clean and comfortable. Great company and guide!
It was an amazing tour and our guide was excellent!! We all loved every part of the tour. We also really enjoyed the hot springs at the end of the day!
Our guide was quiet. He was also knowledgeable when you asked questions but just didn’t offer a lot of info. Trip was long but worth it and all stops were great. We also go a great shot of the Arenal Volcano. From the Guanacoste area this was a 14 hour day with travel.
This tour was amazing, the company responded fast to our reservation, tour guide/driver was very nice, and the friendly and showed us everything possible. Honestly, that was the best tour guide we ever has, recommend to everyone
Atelier Chacón The tour guid was amazing! Friendly and helpful. He made the experience so enjoyable. I highly recommend!! Rachel
Fantastic tour of the Arenal area. It was our first time to Arenal and Rosebin led a great tour. Very professional- on time and well prepared. There were five of us, including two teenagers, and all enjoyed the day hiking the hanging bridges and then relaxing at the hot springs. The quick stop driving to the volcano was a great place to view the lake and was beautiful in the early morning. Recommended!
This was our honeymoon getaway and we could not have asked for a more perfect day. Our guide was amazing and made the day fun and informative. I highly recommend booking with him and we will be booking more tours soon. Thank you.
Rosbin and his wife were our private tour guides on August 4-5, 2021. My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon and my birthday, and they did everything possible to make the trip extra special for us. We ended up hiring them for a private 2-day trip to Arenal and Monteverde, which included an overnight stay at Arenal. They also took us to a beautiful hot spring in Arenal and made certain that our dinner at the hotel was perfect. They even purchased a birthday cake for the dinner and arranged for the room to be decorated. This was an adventure that we will never forget, especially enjoying a Costa Rican bistro along the way to introduce us to more traditional off-resort cuisine. We highly recommend this tour as well as the privacy and customization it allows you to enjoy.
