This was a very nice hotel. The staff is amazing. The room was very spacious with a very comfortable bed. The restaurant was awesome. Both the food and staff were excellent. They made an excellent vanilla latte. The only drawback is it gets a little shady outside at night. Not so great to walk around at night but it was fine during the day.

Excellent breakfast, comfy spacious rooms, friendly staff (especially the concierge, he was awesome I just wished I'd gotten his name!). Really good location for our flying visit at it was nestled between all the markets and museums. My (typically self-couscous) teenagers didn't like the opaque bathroom setup but it wasn't a big issue, they showered in shifts while everyone else was at breakfast.
The hotel was centrally located, walking distance to several areas of interest. I was also single female solo traveler and walked around at night and felt completely safe around the hotel and other areas, there were security people everywhere. The hotel was clean, the restaurant was nice, food was good. Breakfast had large assortment of different foods so it would be difficult to not find something for every taste bud. I also saw comments about no privacy for bathroom, Although I was alone, it was not as dramatic as people said. Yes it is frosted glass for shower and toilet area, but seems you would have to be pressed right up against it to actually see anything. Does it make sense to have frosted glass? No, but its not a deal breaker. I also read comments that 5th floor was cold in restaurant, temp seemed fine to me. And I never experienced any problems with WIFI/Internet connections inside/outside room, or anywhere around the city.
Overall, this has been a disappointing Curio stay. While I didn’t have much with me when I checked in, there was no offer to help bring anything to my room. Perhaps the caliber of service for San Jose is different than that of properties in other cities, I was a bit surprised by this detail. Next, the TV in my room was broken. When I reached out regarding the issue, someone came to review it quickly, which was great. He asked me what time he could come the next day to replace it and I said midday would be great. However, I came back to the room and he didn’t actually replace it. I had to take even more time to reach out to the front desk and have a second person come to actually replace it. Kevin replaced it quickly and was quite helpful thankfully. A small detail, but once it was replaced I came to learn that the TV didn’t have any apps loaded to it aside from a web browser. It seems a bit odd that there wouldn’t be any options like Netflix or Youtube. Third, for any Amex Platinum cardholders, this property offers a $100 credit to be used at the property, but it can only be used at their one restaurant. It would be nice to have some flexibility here, like being able to apply it to room service. Last, I’m begging hotels to bring back real bathroom doors. While nobody accompanied me on this stay, it would be ideal to have more of a separation than a thin wall of glass.
This is a nice Hilton in the center of San Jose. Apparently it is quite all, but the inside has been completely redone and is quite nice. The views of the city on the 5th floor are really great! Our room was pretty small, but everything was fine. I should add that they have a very good breakfast. The valet parking, which is required, is quite expensive, and it took them rather a long time to get our car when we were ready to leave. So, this is a fine place to stay if you want to be in the central city.
