A beautiful resort in a beautiful place. If you've stayed at an Andaz before, this will be what you've come to expect. Excellent rooms, well maintained/beautiful grounds, top notch service, friendly staff. This particular resort is in a nature preserve so you are surrounded by rainforest on the side of a volcanic peninsula. With this you get what comes with that, breathtaking views, abundant wildlife, and lots of hilly walks. The beaches at the resort itself are meh and the beech you can take the free shuttle to is only slightly less meh, but i wouldn't consider this a beach resort as much as as luxury jungle resort with beautiful and ample pools and excellent restaurants. One standout among all of the servers was Francois who is a barista at the coffee shop on campus called Coffee and Vinyls. It is a great concept for a shop and he is an amazing barista. I learned so much from him and his passion shows through. He is a great asset to the property and the company. I could choose any Andaz next year, but would consider a repeat visit here because of Francois.

We had an amazing week at Andaz! The entire team is so smart, kind and lovely. They were a huge help to make our stay so memorable and were always around to help us make our stay more comfy and effortless. Whether it was from a seamless delivery of our bags and items to shuttling us where we needed to go around the property, 5 star treatment. Also, the breakfast is incredible in the morning. Perfect service every morning and we loved speaking with all the staff. We also went to visit the Four Seasons near by, but it wasn’t as warm and welcoming. The food wasn’t as good as Andaz as well. If you’re looking to stay at an amazing place in Papagayo, look no further than Andaz!
I stayed at Andaz Papagayo for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The property is beautiful—surrounded by lush trees and greenery, it has an incredibly peaceful, calming vibe, with the buildings almost resembling bird nests nestled in a forest. From the resort, you have easy access to the marina and the main beach, plus convenient boat and shuttle services to Casa de Playa, the separate beach club with a beautiful view over the Culebra Bay. The hotel also offers complimentary activities like snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and yoga classes. Our room was well-equipped, featuring a spacious shower and a private balcony, alongside a mini-bar with complimentary sodas and snacks that were replenished daily. The property amenities were great, including a quiet adults-only pool and golf cart service to take you anywhere on the grounds. Our rate included breakfast for two, and the quality was outstanding, offering everything from fresh fruit and cold cuts to hot dishes, fresh breads, and pastries. With four on-site restaurants, plus staff who can easily arrange shuttle transportation if you want to dine at neighboring properties like the Four Seasons, options are plentiful. The staff was friendly, well-trained, and always happy to help. The only downside is that the resort is set on steep hills, requiring a lot of walking up stairs and inclines, which could make it less accessible for some guests.
We had the very BEST vacation. 10/10. Already wanting to plan our next trip back! Resort is beautiful and public areas (even bathrooms) are SOOO CLEAN. Food was delicious! Every meal was wonderful. And the staff is so friendly, helpful, and accommodating! The beach club was sooo much fun! Same notes as above - delicious food, very clean, great service. Our server, Kevin, was GREAT! Had him our first day and requested be sat in his section the following days bc we loved him! Highly recommend Andaz Papagayo!!
Overall, I had a great stay at Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo. The room was beautiful, the food was excellent, the beach was stunning, the activities were fun, and the majority of the staff were wonderful. Once I got settled in, I truly enjoyed my vacation. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention an issue during check-in that left a bad first impression. I wanted to upgrade to a specific room category and was told it was unavailable. After checking availability myself, I was able to see that multiple rooms in that category were still available. Instead of acknowledging that, I was repeatedly encouraged to purchase a suite that was approximately $1,000 more expensive. I’m all for sales and ambition, and I understand that resorts want to maximize revenue. However, there is a difference between selling and misleading. I was perfectly happy to pay for the upgrade I originally requested, but I should not have had to provide proof of availability and repeatedly decline a more expensive option before receiving the room I wanted. The good news is that everything, (other than check in) after that was excellent. The resort itself is beautiful, the staff throughout the rest of the property were fantastic, and the overall experience was absolutely worth the initial hiccup. My only suggestion to management would be to focus on transparency and honesty during the check-in and upgrade process. If that were improved, this would have easily been a 5-star stay.
