Communication with time was exceptional. It was clean however the driver was missing more connection with people.
Our tour guide did a great job throughout the whole trip. It was interesting learning the process for making tequila. I had taken another tour the day before at another tequila distillery in Amatitán, but some of the facts learned during this tour were not mentioned the day before. I liked that people weren't pressured into drinking as not everyone wanted to participate in the tequila tasting, and who were also able to choose how full of a shot glass we wanted. I think we could have been at the restaurant a little less time as once we were done eating we had to wait a while to move on to the next town. I also expected to get a free drink for the boat ride since it was mentioned in the post, but we ended up getting it after lunch for our ride to Ajijic, once we were in the van. It was tequila with squirt, but you couldn't really taste the tequila. Overall, it was a great experience.
Juan was a wonderful guide. Really enjoyed the trip . We was caring and informative.
DO NOT BOOK with this company. I was cancelled on the day of the tour due to lack of more bookings. It is not a reliable tour company. I received a called from Juan Pablo the assigned tourist guide the night before the tour to let me know there was no other reservations besides mine and if no one booked between then and the next morning the tour had to be canceled. I just don’t appreciate this kind of situation. I had to improvise and change plans.
Javier is the absolute best and we loved this trip! He is a great driver, has a wonderful sense of humor, and helped make the trip so much fun! The only thing we didn't care for was the restaurant where we stopped for lunch and do suggest they find a new one. I highly recommend this trip, it is a fun-filled day!!
Such a fun and scenic experience. Our guide, Javi, knows his stuff. He shared great insights of the locations visited and offered to assist finding anything we desired. The trip is concentrated about an hour from the city center and the ride can be a bit bumpy, but well worth it. The towns were relaxing and beautiful to wander around in. I traveled solo and wanted to join a small group of others and this was a great option. Overall there were two couples and two solo travelers. If you want a day trip to escape the city, this is your best bet. Drink lots of tequila and ask lots of questions. Guaranteed good time! Total time was 10:30-7pm take-off to return.
Full of color, and sights to see. The atmosphere was filled with culture Papantla flying me.
What an amazing tour for an unbeatable price. Javis was one of the best tour guides Ive had in a while. I highly recommend.
The tequila tasting was held in a run down property. That place needs to be cleaned up. I recommend paying a little more for a better quality tequila tasting.
Had a great time. For once a tour didn’t start super early. I will say bring some pesos with you Forsure. There were lots of fun little knick knacks to pick up. We were out until 7:30pm which was my fault I was late to get back to the bus at the end. I will say I was mystified by the lake towards the end though. The floating plants and the life just felt like a whole other world. Had a great time! Gracias Javi!
Good option when you want some variety. The overall experience was good. The best part was visiting the 2 towns. Charming and fun. Expect the trip to be a bit bumpy as the roads are not great. The food at the restaurant they took us was ok but definitely an area to improve.
The best experience of my trip to Mexico. Unforgettable.
Full day tour with a lot of different stops. The guides and the hospitality were great. Highly recommend.
The tour itself went exactly as planned, and described. Was very happy with the transportation, the activities, the driver, and the guide. Our group was especially fun, and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.
Javier , his assistant and the driver were great, I highly suggest this trip. I suggest you have breakfast before going, very important.
Ranch stop & store stop was a little long, but good deal on a cowboy hat. Enjoyed the samples at distillery. Lunch was beautiful on the lake and enjoyed the very short boat ride- wish it could have been about an hour. The towns were both beautiful, but note you’re left on own to explore and shop. We enjoyed the long day.
It was an awesome experience. We had a great guide(javis). Very comfortable van, good ac, and fun vibes. It was a very organized schedule and each stop was even better than the next. I’d recommend booking this!
First of all, this was one of the worst tours I have ever experienced, and I would never recommend it to anyone. It may be cheap, but now I understand why. We arrived at the meeting point at 10:30 AM, only to be told that the vehicle assigned to our tour had broken down. We then waited more than 45 minutes for a replacement vehicle, and the tour did not actually begin until around 11:25 AM. Losing almost an hour before even starting was very disappointing. Our guide, Javier, seemed like a nice person and was friendly throughout the day, so this review is not directed at him personally. The problem was the tour itself and how poorly it was organized. The first stop was the Vicente Fernández Ranch. As a visitor from abroad, I understand that Vicente Fernández is an important figure in Mexican culture, but the stop felt completely unnecessary and added little value to the overall experience. It honestly felt like a waste of time. The next stop was Casa Calleros. Based on the description, I expected something closer to a tequila distillery experience. Instead, it felt more like a very small local tequila shop. The tequila tasting itself was fine, but there were mosquitoes everywhere, the weather was extremely hot, and the overall environment was far from enjoyable. The biggest disappointment was Lake Chapala, which was the main reason we booked the tour in the first place. We came to Guadalajara for the World Cup with our children, and even a local taxi driver told us that Lake Chapala was a must-see destination because of its beauty. Unfortunately, our experience was completely different. The area where we were taken looked neglected, the water appeared dirty, and the atmosphere was nothing like what had been described to us. To make matters worse, the restaurant where we stopped for lunch was not even the restaurant listed on the itinerary. After ordering, we waited approximately 45 minutes without receiving our food. The area smelled unpleasant, the children were exhausted, and my friend and I realized we were simply wasting valuable vacation time. At that point, we paid for our drinks, informed the guide that we were leaving, and ordered an Uber back to our hotel. The ride back took about 1 hour and 20 minutes. This was the first time in my life that I have ever left a tour halfway through. I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that travel experiences can vary. However, this tour was poorly organized, significantly delayed, did not match expectations, and ultimately felt like a complete waste of both time and money. Save your time and choose a different tour.
The entire experience was great. Javier was an excellent tour guide/driver.the bus was very comfortable
Javier our tour guide was amazing he spoke Spanish and English was very attentive to everyone’s needs. Javier provided us with a lot of great information and his knowledge is amazing. Javier made our tour fun and worth every penny spent on it. Highly recommend this tour if you want to leave Guadalajara with great memories. Lake Chápala was beautiful and the Magic town of Ajijic was amazing. I also loved going to the Tres Potrillos Ranch a dream come true!
As others have said, Javier runs a great tour. You will be a little bit tipsy from a Tequillery vusit before lunch and you will dance on a boat after lunch. The Chapala lake is worth visiting and the visit to Ajijic and Chapala are relaxed and interesting. It's a long day but worth it.
Excellent day trip to lake Chapala, our host Javier was very good and informative, kept very good care of us. All places and stops were interesting and plenty to do and see. It took a bit of driving from Guadalajara and a couple of stops in-between worked very well. Overall excellent experience and I can recommend this tour as a quick step outside of a big city hussle
It’s a very nice experience you get to see the 5th biggest lake in the whole LA, Javier our guide was very knowledgeable and very patient to explain all our question. Love this tour
Great tour for families and friends, would do it again. /////////…././////////.////////////////……………………
This tour was super fun and full of information! You get to experience so many different things in a day. Would recommend to solo travelers, families & friends. Javi was a fantastic guide!
The tour followed the itinerary presented in the description. Javi was our charismatic tour guide and he did a fine job providing information of the spots we went to. My suggestions to the tour planner is to cut time from the Ranch and tequila tasting visit by 15 minutes each and add those to Chapala. The town of Chapala is a lovely spot to watch the sunset.
Very well organized and delightful day. Our guide Javi was very knowledgeable, kind and open to our schedule. He was very punctual. His English was very good even though we also spoke Spanish.
When booking the tour it said it was an English tour with a guide. In the end it turned out to be just a driver who only spoke Spanish. But he tried. There's no need to lie about the tour description, even if it says that there's a driver, not a guide, and that the tour isn't offered in English, people will know whether to book under those conditions or not. The trip itself was relatively ok. The walk through the town of Chapala is beautiful, charming.
If you are looking to spend a day at Lake Chapala — visiting the towns of Chapala and Ajijic — do not do this tour. This was a complete waste of a day on vacation. The communication was poor from the start; we were told three different times to meet. The tour bus was too small and everyone was complaining about being crammed in like sardines. Our first stop was at a ranch and everyone felt we went only to get people to spend money at their gift shop. Then we went to a distillery and the group stood around doing nothing, wasting time waiting to leave while the tour guide chatted with employees. Then we went to a bad lunch. By the time we finally got to visit the towns, it was close to 4pm and we had maybe 45 minutes at each of the two locations. The guide was fine but the tour was poorly executed and a waste of a day. Find a better tour if you want to explore Chapala and Ajijic!
My friend and I really enjoyed the trip to Lake Chapala, Ajijic and Tequila tasting. Our guide Javis was a gentleman and explained everything to us. We had a wonderful time.
I really enjoyed the trip to el rancho 3 potrillos, ajijic and Chapala. Our tour guide Javi made it awesome. He was very friendly, attentive and a great dancer.
Would give a ZERO if I could! We were “confirmed.” As directed, Ubered to meeting place, waited close to an hour—no show by 11:15. Texted tour guide twice with no response and tried to call but call wouldn’t go through!
Javi is a great tour guide. There was so much to see with so little time. Come in with an empty stomach and ready to enjoy good Tequila and great food.
This itinerary is well-planned, but the downside is that the tour guide didn’t speak English at all as this tour is supposed to be bilingual, not friendly for people who don’t understand Spanish.
Guides were nice, respectful, helpful and knowledgeable. Groups were split into 2 with either English or Spanish speakers. In terms of the actual tour, it was structured as expected. It felt like it was mainly a way for you to spend extra money than to take you on a tour to show you around, not exactly as advertised in my opinion. Details: Vicente Fernandez's ranch: You're taken into the ranch but you really aren't allowed to explore at all or walk far. They gave us some history on who Vicente was and we're stuck in this little section outside where the pool and statue of him was. Not a whole lot to take pics of or to walk around. Then you're guided to the cowboy STORE to give you some time to shop. Maybe the ranch gives the tour company kickback for shopping? Next stop: Tequilla Factory: Was hoping to actually have a tour around the facility to see how tequilla is made and all but you're taken to a tasting room to try out different tequilla. While it was interesting to taste and guide was fun, it was again, geared towards you purchasing things at their gift shop afterwards. Plenty of people bought things. San Juan Cosala - You're not exploring this area, it's really to take us to the Bamboo Restaurant. We ordered food and while we waited for the food to be made, we were taken on a boat ride. That was probably 1 of the highlights as people were dancing, music was played, having fun, or you can relax upstairs. It was about 20-30 minutes. When we came back, food was ready. Prices are higher as it's a touristy restaurant. I think the other restos there are also catered to tour groups. Bamboo resto was good at least. The final 2 stops at Chapala and Ajijic: You're given about an hour to explore the city on your own. No info about the towns itself by the guides. I would say walking around was the real highlight of the tour as you can to actually explore. But it being part of a tour, no guides gave any info like the history of the towns, as they weren't taking you around. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars because the guides were friendly, but I felt like you're put in places to try to spend money than give you a real tour experience. But you're not pressured to buy anything at all, I didn't. Expect to spend the entire day to evening.
They sold more tickets than what they could mange, and this resulted in multiple delays. Ajijic and Chapala are beautiful towns and we ended up staying only 30mins in each due to the delays earlier. The restaurant they took us in Ajijic was different than one mentioned on the itinerary. Our tour guide was a nice lady but she lacked experience. The tequila distillery/shop they took to was nothing special and better to skip honestly. I would recommend finding a smaller or private tour for Ajijic and Chapala.
Tour was great, the guide and driver were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to explore and learn about the towns.
Our guide Javis was a gentleman. He explained everything to us throught the trip. Nice to talk to. First we went to a ranch once owned by a mexican singer, then on for tequila tasting . After that we stopped for lunch on the waterside of lake Chapala. The food was absolutely amazing and the best I've eaten in all of mexico. We then took a boat on the lake , feeding the wild birds. Wonderful. After this on to Ajijic. Colourful town full of art and shops. Then to chapala . Absolutely wonderful day
That was the best tour we experienced in Mexico. We loved the atmosphere and appreciated how well everything was organized. It’s clear that customers truly come first for the local guides of this company. We enjoyed tasting tequila, taking a beautiful boat trip, and strolling through the charming old towns near the lake in the evening. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the real Mexico.
The host offered to reschedule to another day as I could not make the original booking. However they did not keep their word on the revised booking date. Would never use this company. Total waste of time.
The tour was amazing! Our guide was funny and very outgoing. They had complimentary drinks for us from water to tequila; very well coordinated! Highly recommend!!
The tour guide was great. Kind and caring. The tour itself was a bit too touristy and waaaay to long. Skip the restuarant ( food and drinks are bad and way over priced) and the boat ride is hoaky. 10 hours is just way too long.
Overall great experience, professional staff, organized, and would definitely recommend to anyone that is interested in visiting places listed.
Chapala tour was hosted by Javic. He did an excellent job, highlights were the tequila tasting, boat ride with music and dancing, and a great introduction to the beautiful towns of Chapala and Ajijic.
Best Tour Guide and Experience. Will not Regret!! Javier is Great and we had such a fun time and learned a lot.
All I can say that this is so worth the money it was such a awsom experience to go in to Vicente Fernandez Ranch I was born here and have stopped there many times but never gone inside to his Ranch would recommend it
The tour was simply amazing, we saw so much, definitely great value for the tour price. The van was like new, with phone chargers and comfortable seats. Our tour guide was caring, patient and made sure he explained everything and everyone was happy. It was a great group of people on this tour. Unforgettable experience, highly recommend!
Fun full day experience. Bring pesos if you like shopping the little markets in Chapala and to leave tips (internet is spotty and the card readers struggle), also recommend bringing a battery pack for your phone. Again, it’s an all day tour. Restaurant stop was really good, fun visit to Vicente Fernandez Ranch & store, quick visits to Ajijic and Chapala. Wish we would’ve spent more time in Chapala. Chapala was our last stop and sun had already set - still beautiful and worth the visit. The tour guide (Javier) was patient, knowledgeable, and fun with our group. Highly recommend him.
Nice tour - excellent and enthusiastic guide. Great Chapala boat trip and nice restaurant. Vicente Fernandez ranch though is boring tourist trip. Most non Mexicans would not know who he is and no bio info on site. Tour should start earlier at 930 instead of 1030 as day is too long. Make Ajijic and Chapala stops 45 minutes. This is my second time in trip
