You can’t miss it. Jose Cuervo has done an impressive work by developing the great experience of visiting the distillery. Do not miss the museums, very enlightening.

Reviews
The trip was fantastic. We selected the sunset tour, going by bus and coming back by train. It was truly an amazing experience with the guides Osiris and Isidro explaining everything super clearly! Absolutely recommend it!
DO NOT BOOK WITH TRIPADVISOR!! I paid 2000 MXN more for Express class. Just book on the official website!! Also they put me on the last on the list, i sit logo at the end of the train!!!!
Truly one-of-a-kind and unforgettable
Great experience but 3 hours too long...
The José Cuervo Express tour was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The service was exceptional, the staff was warm, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about tequila and the history behind it. The entire experience felt organized, welcoming, and full of energy. The train itself is beautiful and comfortable, with excellent drinks and attention throughout the journey. The tour of the José Cuervo distillery was fascinating—informative, interactive, and full of unforgettable moments. We learned so much about the tequila-making process, from the agave fields to the final tasting. The tequila tastings were outstanding, and every drink we tried was top quality. The food provided during the experience was delicious and exceeded expectations. You can feel the pride and tradition in every detail of the tour. Overall, this is a must-do experience for anyone visiting Tequila or Guadalajara. Highly recommended for couples, families, and anyone who wants a unique and memorable cultural adventure. An extraordinary tour that we would happily repeat!
This was a very fun experience. I would suggest bringing a small bag so that you are able to carry anything you want to buy along the trip.
This is an experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Guadalajara. There are two tours available; the sunrise or the sunset tour. Which means, basically, you will take the train either up to Tequila in the morning or take it back in the evening. The other way is by bus. I would recommend the sunset tour (taking the train back from Tequila only because I can't imagine drinking that much tequila on a train at 9 in the morning! We were taken by luxury bus in the morning straight to the agave fields and served a fantastic breakfast of tamales and tequila with grapefruit juice. We spent time in the fields learning about the harvesting of the plants before being bussed over to one of the processing plants for a tour of the facility and how the tequila is made. The Jose Cuervo complex in downtown Tequila is stunningly beautiful, the tour is informative (in English or Spanish) and you have time for a late lunch and brief walk about the old town in the afternoon. Later in the afternoon, they present a Mexican show with Mariachis and dancers which was very lively - probably due to the non-stop serving of tequila drinks, after which we were bussed over to the train station for the 2 hour ride back to Guadalajara. The train is beautiful, the hosts are amazing; friendly and funny, and the ride back includes drinks (of course), several courses of tapas and a Tequila taste testing. We upgraded to the premium package (worth it) and be prepared, because this is about a 12 hour excursion (pace yourself on the the tequila drinks to really enjoy the whole day!)
Diego is a truly incredible tour guide. Very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about his city’s history, architecture, and culture. We loved how he structured the walking tour for us and it was the perfect length!
My wife and I took the sunset tour, which has you taking the bus to Tequila and the train back to Guadalajara. You do tastings on the train, the distillery, the show, and lunch if you choose. I'm not one to start drinking at 9am but if that's what you do, take the sunrise tour but I think the sunset tour is a better experience. I really wish I could remember our tour guides (for the English speaking tour for 6-28)but they were great! The tour through the distillery was really interesting. We met some great people, had really good food (the buffet was excellent) and got some tequila not found in the states. Definitely a must do!!!
Overall a fantastic and long day. Collected at 0730 and taken to the coach collection point. Provided with a hot drink and cake. Then at about 0900 onto the coach towards Tequila. 1030 Breakfast and agave cutting display together with copious amounts of tequila drinks. Then on to the Jose Cuervo distillery for a tour with an expert guide, more tequila tasting and a wander around the town. Lunch at your own expense. We found a hotel with a decent buffet. 1730 back on the coach to the station and boarding the train. It was then we discovered that the 3 of us were not sitting together, which was alarming seeing we paid $250 each for the tour! And is why we only gave 4/5 for this review. Should not have happened! Luckily a larger group saw our predicament and swopped seats. The trip on the train was brilliant with tequila cocktails and neat tequila served throughout together with food. The people on board were fantastic, lively and full of tequila. (so were we!) It was a blast. staff were very patient and accommodating. The train ahead broke down which meant we were stuck on board for an extra hour.......more tequila cocktails. We poured off the train around about 2100 happy but tired.
The experience was great, awesome views. Had one issue with the bus but it was resolved almost immediately. Great support teams and great environment.
We took the Premium package, which included transportation to/from the hotel to the start/end of the tour. We had to be ready at 7:00 am because the driver had to make several stops. This resulted in a prolonged start of approximately 1.5 hours. Snacks provided during the day were okay. The tour of the manufacturing plant is good, the surrounding streets charming. We had lunch at Fonda Cholula (not included) which was savory, and the service was very good. Lemon margaritas were excellent! The show was nice, however we would rather have stayed longer in the cultural center to learn more about the Tequila culture. The ride in the train was very nice, our car was pretty and comfortable and the staff made sure that we were well taken care of. The ladies bathroom was not working, so you had to go to another car. This was inconvenient since the train was almost full and there was always a line. For the price of the ticket, we expected everything to be working as it should. All in all, we enjoyed the tour. The guides were very nice, I suggest that in the future they may take advantage of the traveling time to explain the schedule in detail, provide information about Tequila, its origins, culture, etc.
Some things were great but some things not so good. We did not care for most of the flavored tequila drinks and the drinks on the train were watered down. Service was good but not sure the cost of the train was worth it. Transportation was very good. Appetizers were good on train. Fun once but not again.
Excellent experience from beginning to end. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. The trip is worth every penny! A must visit
Started off really nice> Service was great at the first stop. Then the train ride home left a bad vibe. We were with Kassandra and her crew. She’s super great, but the waitstaff HORRIBLE.. Skipping us to only serve some female passengers. Didn’t offer us shots or drinks. My husband had to get up and ask for drinks. For the price we paid was not worth it. December 14, 2024
If you like Tequila, fun tours and distillery facts you will love this. The train was the cherry on top and riding home at sunset was gorgeous. We felt comfortable the whole time even though only one person in our group spoke Spanish. There is some free time to explore the town of Tequila which is nice and they feed you breakfast and dinner as part of the tour. We left with great memories, collector’s bottles of tequila and a new found love for the agave plant.
Me and friends had a great time on the Tequila Tour for my birthday trip! Please understand that you will start your day early and end late! Our hotel pickup was on time! They run a tight schedule and you have to be ready. After hotel pickup up is complete you go to a centralized meetup place for registration and bus assignments. The buses had air conditioning. The ride was extremely comfortable. The entire day was worth it. There was so much to learn and take in. The trip to the agave field was breathtaking. The stop in the town of Tequila was amazing! We got a chance to check out some local food spots. It was so rich in culture and color! The energy there was unmatched. Make sure you are eating throughout the day because you will consume a lot of tequila. We purchased the PM train ride. I am glad we did. Although we drank a lot the entire day, I like that we ended the day with the train ride back to Guadalajara. I recommend that if you are with a group please purchase your tickets together (on the same order) to ensure your party gets to sit together. They do have assigned seats on the train.
Mari Cruz our tour guide was really nice and helpful everyone was supper friendly and it was amazing time .
We definitely recommend the sunset itenary!! We had so much fun traveling to the agave fields and then the tour was awesome! We sat with another couple on the train and were able to talk and converse the whole ride!! It was a long but amazing day!! So glad we did it
Such an amazing time! Highly recommend the sunset tour with the premium train cabin. From beginning to end it was great! It is an all day event, so make sure to get good sleep the prior night. Raul was prompt and a very professional driver. Ceci was an amazing tour guide the whole time!
The train trip and Tequila itself is as enjoyable as it’s known to be. Unique to Viator, the transportation to and from the hotel to the train station was seamless and safe. The bus ride was comfortable
That’s experiences very amazing. The attention they give you is incredible they take care of you. They make sure that you’re happy no matter what.
The trip is excellent If you book on Trip Advisor via Viator, you will be overcharged by more than $100 so be sure to turn in your payments if you did book with them as they have a 100% lowest price guarantee. You can book direct with Mundo Cuervo Jose Cuervo Express for 2995 pesos ($166) vs $275 for the same Trip advisor Viator Jose Cuervo Express as I sat by someone on same trip on Saturday that booked and paid through Trip Advisor/Viator. Please see photos below. The trip is worth $166 USD. Two great shows (one lasted 2 hours and another 30 minutes, toured museum by J Cuervo, the Agave fields and show, band, Tamales for Lunch (3) and Tacos Al Vapo on the train plus all the cocktails and mexican snacks you can handle plus three tequila tastings in a tequila glass on the train as well..Blancco, Reposado and Cristollino and they will pour as much as you can take.
Not the experience it used to be. Too many tours with too many people being crammed through the experience, with too much waiting around for “our turn”, with too little tequila to make it worthwhile. No longer have tasting of tequilas throughout distilling process, no tasting of special reserve anywhere (not in the cellar or on the train, as we were promised several times). Very disappointing.
The tour itself was amazing! Thank you Lupita for your knowledge and being so kind to us! The food at Cholula was delicious!
All of it from. The beginning of tour to the end well worth the price the peopleconducting the tour , excellent cortious profesional and very accommodating I will recommend it to my friends . And very knowelageable about the history of tequila
We had a great day on this tour. We took the afternoon experience, which means going to Tequila by bus and returning by train. The check-in experience was a bit slow, but at least there were coffee and pastries while you waited. The bus ride was ok, the breakfast, shows and guided tours were very good. There's open bar basically the whole day which is good. The experience as a whole is very cool and I'd recommend everyone to try it out, even at the price
We were very impressed with the efficiency and attention to detail that this tour provided! Everything from beginning to end was organized and on time. Our tour guide Lupita, was very attentive and satisfied every thing we needed. We learned a lot of facts about tequila and got to taste many different kinds. The town of Tequila is very nice and I wish we had a little more time to explore it. My suggestion to others is to visit in the cooler months, it was extremely warm in June. The train ride was fun and we were provided with a few drinks. The only food provided was chips and different types of salsa. They were delicious but we were pretty hungry by then. We were supposed to play a bingo game but that didn’t happen. Also it was extremely warm and the AC wasn’t working. I think they spent too much time with “educating “ us how to drink tequila which would have been interesting if we hadn’t already been educated earlier that day. But overall a great experience and we recommend it to anyone who loves tequila!
The tour guide. Fernando was great very knowledgeable and patient. The whole experience was awesome. I definitely recommend it.
I had no idea what we were getting ourselves into with this awesome day trip! We were in Guadalajara with a group for a friend's birthday weekend celebration and this was the highlight of the trip! Yes 11 hrs. can feel like a big commitment, but the tour has been designed to give you a great mix of adventure, culture, nature, and TEQUILIA! We did the train in the morning which I believe was a good choice to see the beautiful landscape on the way to Tequila. Upon arrival in town we had a nice orientation that lead us to our tour guide of the distillery. Most of our group were English speakers so we had a great English speaking guide. If there was one complaint the groups are close together so sometimes it was hard to hear our guide if there were loud guides nearby talking to their groups. After the tour we had a break for lunch and got to walk around town. Then we returned to the main theater for a fun musical show! It was fantastic and the performers/musicians were very talented. Then we got on a bus and feeling a bit tired our new guide walked around and gave us all bottles of water! It was a nice calm drive to the fields to see the agave plants, which was a big surprise! We didn't expect that to be so fun, dancing and good food/drinks was involved! It was so magical to be there at sunset. In the end we got back on the bus with plenty of tequila for everyone and an hour ride back to Guadalajara. Overall this trip was very well planned and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have fun, see Tequila, and do it the way it was intended to experience! And if you're not a big drinker don't worry, there is so much to see and do that you will still have fun!
The Tequila train was a wonderful experience. We took the bus up and the train back. Everything went smoothly and the staff and guides were very good. You come away with a whole new perspective on tequilas. It is a must experience
Very informative and cultural enrichment. But the AC in cab we in JC-06 did not work. Tour guide Adarely was great and friendly
What a fun experience on the tequila train! We went with two other couples and enjoyed every minute, from the tamales, agave farm, distillery and mariachi show. The perfect ending was riding on the train with breathtaking views and sampling different tequilas.
This was a wonderful tour, I had so much fun! There’s a lot packed into a single day. I highly recommend the sunset tour, it’s quite a party!
I added an additional passenger a couple of weeks in advance and my credit card was charged. The day prior to departure when I was confirming my pick up time I was informed an error had been made and that the additional passenger had been cancelled and my money was going to be refunded back to me. This was a tequila tour with hardly any tequila. We were picked up on a tour bus that carried no alcohol. Our tour guide spoke very bad broken English. It would have been better if we would have taken the Spanish tour and I could of tried to translate the presentation for my partner. The tour dragged on with hardly any tequila. We had a presentation on how to drink the tequila but because our group was combined they did not have enough tequila and we had to share. The rest of the dry tour continued to drag on. Once we were finally finished it was an hour and a half past our lunch reservations and everything was booked up. Once we proceeded to board the train at 6pm is when the drinks finally started. We lost our English speaking tour guide and the Spanish speaker took over. My boyfriend was unable to understand the presentation but we were able to drink and enjoy the ride with the view of the country side.
If you choose English, beware. 75% into the tour you are left guideless. You're given some final set of instructions on what to do next and then where to go. Sooooo you're just supposed to know how to get to a spot because you've been there when you first arrived? Not cool at all. Actually criminal to leave us when we booked a guide in English because we don't know Spanish. On the bus ride up, I was asked if we wanted them to make us lunch reservations at a restaurant during the few hours we had free. I said yes. She asked if 2:20 would be okay. Ummm how in the world am I supposed to know when the tour will break for lunch????? Turns out, it was later than 2:20 and we lost our reservation spot. So you have to wait in line for 30 minutes in the sweltering sun. Overall, the staff was amazing and the train ride back was sssooooooo fun. Prepare yourself for a 14 hour day, door to door. With many glitches, it was still worth it.
We didn't get the entire train experience and they offered a free tour. Can I book the next tour? They claimed they had a train accident.
The review is low because we were told we would have a train experience and it was cut short. We were also told we would get a credit to return and nothing has been received. The train experience was the reason we booked the tour to begin with
The tour was amazing, the detail, the wealth of knowledge Jocelyn had of the tequila process. I wish there was more tastings so I could have made a better more informed decision. Train ride needed more wait staff, drinks and food were slow to come but all in all, I would do it again The concert was the best part!!!!
do yourself a favor and go. you are offerred two options: taking the train in the morning to tequila or in the afternoon back from tequila. i'd recommend the later, much more fun!
This tour gives many opportunities to learn about tequila production first-hand. We saw the agave farms and then visited the famous Jose Cuervo distillery in Tequila, After touring the site, we had 2 hours to visit the town of Tequila and have lunch. I enjoyed being able to explore on my own. We returned to the distillery where we saw a great mariachi presentation. Throughout the tour, we sampled great tequila cocktails and tequila shots, as many as we wanted. I loved that! The return Guadalajara on the train was unforgettable. people were so friendly, and we enjoyed drinks and snacks together. Pickup at the hotel and at the train station was perfect. I will never forget the tour, and I highly recommend it!
We had a phenomenal experience, but I hope you can handle a lot of alcohol if you go! For starters, I was never a huge fan of tequila before this experience. However, we were in Mexico to visit my bf’s family and it was his birthday(he loves tequila) so this was his birthday present. We arrived at the train station to check in, and they had coffee and snacks awaiting us. Then it was time to board, the train looked beautiful in the outside. The inside?... oh my. It’s worth it to pay for the luxury tickets, because it was lovely inside. I guess for once I felt like royalty. From there, your table gets its own guide. They guide you through a tequila demonstration, explaining how to swirl the tequila in the glass and how to taste it. A platter of snacks comes to accompany the drinks and well as a “smell dish”. They explain in Spanish and English how you pair certain smells and food with certain tequila. During this time, you may drink as much as you want. Then we arrived and Tequila, Mexico. They had buses waiting for us to take up to the distillery. The whole place was beautiful, but as expected as a tourist attraction. We learned a great deal about the history, and why it’s called Tequila. We walked through the distillery and learned a lot, and even got to try a shot of 100% pure, undiluted tequila... it hits you hard. Anyways, afterwards we were free to go through the gift store and out to explore Tequila, Mexico for the afternoon. Good time to stock up in tequila significantly cheaper. We roamed around Tequila for a while, and are lunch(lunch is on your own). Then went back to the distillery for some popsicle and a performance. Be prepared to sing along! There’s a lot of good performances. Then went back to our buses and headed to our next destination. During the bus ride, you can get various cocktails and drinks. The “sunset” was my favorite. We drove and eventually ended up at a Agave plantation. We got to learn about how they harvest and cut the plants, and the whole process that goes into it. We were also offer snacks, the fresh churros were my favorite. After an hour or two, we got back on the bus. Depending on your bus.. it could get crazy. We had amazing and a little crazy guides, and well we were playing Scorpian and everyone was taking shots out of the bottle. It was truly the party bus, but to be fair... Get your moneys worth, right? Finally the bus takes you all the way back to Guadalajara. As fun as all the alcohol was, I was impressed by the knowledge and appreciation I gained from this experience. I was never really a party animal to begin with, but sitting back and watching everyone act so carefree and happy was a good experience. I guess you can say Mexicans really know how to party, because they do!
We took the José Cuervo bus in the morning and returned on the train. We are very glad we were first on the bus as we stopped in the agave fields on the way into Tequila. We were not rushed, the weather was still cool, and we had plenty of time to ask questions with the English guide. Once we arrived at the José Cuervo distillery, we had Marco, an English guide, give an excellent tour of the facilities. The two hours on our own in town were nice for wandering and seeing the quaint square. Returning to the amphitheater for the show was a bit disappointing. The speakers were so loud we had to hold our ears closed as it truly was uncomfortable. The mariachis and dances were very good...just couldn’t enjoy due to the loudness of the speakers. We were on the “diamonte “ car on our return to Guadalajara. There was no one to explain the tequila tastings in English so we sat in mostly ignorance of the goings on. The small snack meal was also a disappointment. I would not recommend paying the cost of the diamonte car as we could have done just as well in a lower cost car. On the walking tour of the distillery, there were no advantages of having paid the higher cost.
Is an all day fun, you can eat and taste the different Jose Cuervo tequilas and enjoy the beautiful places.
While the service and tour was fine, the Viator Management sold us a tour that didn't exist and ruined our experience trying to get the matter sorted out with the Jose Cuervo people. No one wanted to take responsibility and what we got was NOT what we paid for! Go directly through Jose Cuervo, NOT through Viator!
All round an incredible experience of having fun at its best while learning something new about Jalisco's special liquor. One note of caution. If you take the morning train from the station you are not brought back there at night. They deliver you to the parking lot at Expo Guardalajara. We had no idea where we were and had to take a cab. there were a number wanting to pick up passengers. We were really unfortunate and got pick up by a driver whose intention was to rob us. Here's what he did. As there were four of us three were squashed in the back. Under the pretext of making us more comfortable he offered to p[ut our friend's bag in the trunk. She thought he was being considerate and gave it to him. After we had driven a little way he said he needed gas. He drove up to what he said was a "natural gas" station. Once there he said we had to get out and sit at some tables while he went to fill the gas for safety reasons. He went off out of sight. We gave him a generous tip thinking he was so helpful. Discovered the missing wallet next day as out friend was not the one paying for the cab! Be warned! It is the first time something like this has happened top me in Mexico so I write the experience off but he was very smooth and obviously this was not the first time he has done this. Can't identify the cab only tio say it was properly marked.
My wife and I took the José Cuervo Tequila Train tour when we recently visited Guadalajara. The all-day Trip was well worth the effort. We stopped in the agave fields to see a demonstration of how the plant is grown and harvested. Then we went on to the town of Tequila and visited the Cuervo distillery and the related shops and attractions. The actual distillery tour was very interesting as was the village itself. We saw a performance by mariachis and a folkloric dancing group before boarding the train for a two-hour ride back to the city. We would certainly recommend the trip to others.
this tour is one of my all times favorite. As soon as my boyfriend arrived at the station we were greeted with a small breakfast. We took the bus to tequila and I was surprise of how clean and well maintain the bus was. very luxurious. we had drinks inside the bus and they were delicious. after the two hour bus ride we arrived at the agave land. and the food is not all the good but the views are amazing. after being there for a couple of hours we when to Tequila town and wow. that place is amazing full of culture and the Jose cuervo house is very beautiful. they also provide a mariachi valet show.
We had an awesome experience aboard the tequila express, tequila tasting was very educational and delicious, food was typical and tasty. When we arrived Tequila Jalisco, we were greeted with Mariachi band, soon after we joined the destilery tour and the highlight of the evening was a special folkloric show with Mariachi music 🎶
