It was such an awesome. My 2nd time to do Tequila daytrip and this time, it felt very different but in a great way. The intimate setting & small group made that big difference. Michelle explained very well the fermentation process and we were able to see it in action when we climbed up and see those big jars.

Andrea was our guide and she is AMAZING! She is a trained Tequila Master and a Chemical Engineer, so EXTREMLY knowledgeable about the process, the styles of tequila and so much more! She picked us up in a very nice Expedition, took us to a FANTASTIC place for breakfast, 2 great locations for tours and tastings. Casa De Oro was the 2nd one and was my favorite. They have this extra anjeho they finish in sherry barrels which is amazing! Then we had some of the best grilled meat I've ever had in Mexico at a family dinner place, and then went to a huge Mexican party/music place.to have their traditional Cantaritos drink. It was a BLAST! Then safely back home after a GREAT day! Thank you Andrea!
Andi was an amazing tour guide. She knew so much about the process of tequila making. I have been to many distilleries and I still learned so much from her and this tour. We enjoyed the restaurants especially the Ruins. The flavor pairings with the different styles of tequila was not only informative it was a great skill to learn. The only complaint I have is that we did not get to the final stop as the others on our tour were tired. Would be better to stick to the agenda so we didn't have to just be agreeable in front of the rest of the participants. Definitely recommend this tour.
Andrea was the best and we had so much fun learning about the different types of tequilas. The distillery we visited were beautiful and we even got to have dinner at Casa Sauza. We definitely felt like VIPs on this tour.
This was an excellent tour. Andrea was our tourist guide a very nice, polite, knowledgeable, friendly person. Just with that said the tour is worth it. Additionally the tequileras we visited were great, I enjoyed, learned and had fun with the group. I highly recommend you to do this tour to enjoy, learn and have fun when visiting Guadalajara. Thank you Andrea for sharing your experience, expertise and making us enjoy the whole day.
Tons of fun and tons of great information. Best taquila ever. Our host Andy was an expert's expert. She answered a ton of questions and helped us with our Spanish!
Skip the tour of the huge factories. We visited two small distilleries and learned ALL about making artisinal and conventional tequila. The first, Casa de Oro, was amazing. 6 tequilas. A smaller second place with 4 tastings. (Perhaps they gave me a few double fills too). Our guide, Andrea, was super knowledgeable and fun. I was solo, joining a family group of 9 who welcomed me like a family member. Fun fellow tourists makes any tour even better. A late Breakfast (lunch really) was included before the tequila stops, a dinner stop where we share the cost - bring pesos please - and then a stop for shopping in Tequila proper (30 minutes, wish it was more!) Finally, a stop at a venue with food, drinks and several mariachi bands playing at once (LOL) where a sweet drink was mixed in a giant clay jug and poured out. 2 more drinks. What am I up to? 12? 14? The only difficulties: did not hear from them about pickup until the Evening before which made me nervous, and I had to get an uber to another place for that. I got them to drop me off closer but still had a 1.5 mile walk.
It was a wonderful experience, our tour guide Andi was amazing. Andi was very knowledgeable and very detailed on the tequila process from start to finish. I would totally recommend this tour. I can't wait to book another adventure with them
It’s a long day- but not too long where it’s not enjoyable. Dress comfortably and wear good shoes for walking on cobblestones.
10/10 – Worth every penny! This tour was absolutely worth the value. Our guide, Mich, was fantastic — fun, knowledgeable, and able to answer every question we threw at her, whether it was about the local area or the ins and outs of the tequila distillery process. The group size was small enough to keep things intimate, and by the end everyone genuinely felt like friends. We visited two distilleries, and both were memorable in their own way. The first was a small-batch operation where the owners themselves greeted us and spoke with real passion about their craft — you could tell how much love went into every bottle, and the tequila was delicious. The second distillery was more developed and polished, with genuinely beautiful grounds. Breakfast was a highlight too — a local, no-frills spot on the side of the road where you could order as many gorditas, tacos, and quesadillas as you wanted. Absolutely delicious. One heads up: be prepared to be out for about 12 hours, so pace yourself! But honestly, it was worth every minute. Highly recommend requesting Mich as your guide!
I can't say enough good things about this Tequila tour. I booked it the day before over WhatsApp, and the entire process was quick and seamless. Michelle picked me up the next morning in a very comfortable SUV. I was running 15 mins late, she waited, NBD. We picked up 3 other young couples and headed out to Tequila. Immaculate vibes from Michelle and the group the whole way, even the ride was fun. Beautiful scenery along the way. We stopped at two small places for breakfast/lunch, both were amazing. Visited two distilleries: one was designed to accommodate tours and the other was basically a small hut in the jungle. Unbelievably delicious tequila at both spots, especially the smaller more remote distillery. As much tequila/beer along the way as I could handle. This tour distinguished itself from other operators to me in a number of ways: 1) Other than taking us only to the obvious tourist stops, they introduced us to hidden local food and drink spots that felt like insider recommendations. Every stop was memorable; 2) Great value food and drink wise - There was so much food and drink available and it was all amazing; 3) The hospitality was incredible. Michelle was clearly focused on making sure we as individuals and as a group had a great time. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the region, the tequila-making process, and the local culture, while also creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere for the group. 4) I was riding solo as a primarily English speaker among a group of couples who were mostly Spanish speakers. Despite that, I never felt like an outsider. Michelle and the team effortlessly made me feel included in both the social experience and the educational portions of the tour. That level of thoughtfulness really stood out; I've done plenty of tours while traveling, and this was one of the best. It struck the perfect balance of education, authentic local experiences, incredible food and tequila, and genuinely warm hospitality. If you're visiting Guadalajara or Tequila, I wouldn't hesitate to book this tour. It was easily one of the highlights of my World Cup trip.
This is such a great catch all experience for getting to know the Tequila region. You should just note that there is flexibility in the tour and you can choose time you spend on some of the locations. We had such a great time and Andrea, our guide was great in explaining everything and ensuring we had the best time! Definitely recommend!
The tequila tour with Andrea was an absolutely wonderful experience. It was our family’s first-ever tequila tour, and every one of us had such a great time. Even after returning to Korea, we still talk about tequila and fondly remember the tour. It has become a truly happy and unforgettable memory for our whole family. She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and professional. She answered all of our questions about tequila in such an engaging and cheerful way. Her communication skills were also excellent, and everyone in our family was able to understand her explanations clearly and easily. Since there was a World Cup match that day, we asked if it would be possible to finish the tour earlier than usual. She accommodated our request perfectly, which allowed us to complete everything else we had planned in Mexico without any difficulty. The next time we visit Mexico, we would love to take this tour again and enjoy the full experience from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mexico!
We had an excellent time on this tour. In total there we 14 people and 2 guides (Giancarlo and Mel). We left with 14 new friends from all over the world by the end of the tour! We first had lunch and then checked out two distilleries. At the first, we learned about the two processes of making tequila and finished the tour in a tasting room where we learned even more about the different types of tequila. There’s a nice shop where you can buy bottles at the end. I bought two! Then we had lunch at a carnicería where we had carnitas and chorizo. We forgot to tell them in advance that my wife doesn’t eat pork but they still found a way to accommodate us. I don’t think they had beef or chicken at the time we were there. Our next distillery stop was very special. It was literally off the beaten path and without giving too much away, you won’t find a place like this unless you know somebody. I bought three bottles from that distillery because I know I won’t find it in the US. Our final stop was at Cantaritos. It’s a huge outdoor bar space with multiple mariachis spread through the property and people dancing everywhere. We were told it gets super busy so going on a weekday might be best. They had a very large screen for the World Cup as well. Giancarlo and Mel were our guides. They translated in English for us when needed since I can only speak Spanish at a 5 or 6 out of 10 and my wife cannot speak or understand it all. They were extremely informative and I learned so much from them. Highly recommend this tour if you want to experience something unique.
This was one of the best and most relaxing tours we’ve ever done! Michelle and Juan Carlos were absolutely amazing and made us feel so welcomed from the very beginning. We learned so much about the tequila-making process, visited beautiful places, and had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people along the way. The transportation was excellent and everything was organized so seamlessly, making the entire experience stress-free. Michelle even went above and beyond at the end of our tour. Even though it was getting late, she still took the time to make sure we could visit our last stop, Cantaritos El Güero, which ended up being such a fun and unforgettable experience. Overall, this tour exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely book again. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
Talk about an amazing intro into the world of tequila. The firsthand look at the making of Agave spirit was entertaining, informative and most important, satisfying. Both distilleries provided excellent products to sample. The two brothers who own Tequila Dos O were such gracious hosts in a perfect end to the day. Aside from her near panic attack when a bug flew into the vehicle, our guide Michelle was knowledgeable about the process and the region. She was also a delight. Breakfast and dinner choices were perfect as well.
We had the best day. Andy was our driver and guide - she made sure we were all having a great time and she was so knowledgeable about tequila - a true tequila connoisseur and expert! The itinerary packed a lot in, with a number of distillery tours and tastings, breakfast and lunch, and free time to wander the town of Tequila. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Guadalajara!
I had an amazing time on the VIP Agave Experience tour. What surprised me most was that it ended up being a private tour with just me and the guide. A special thank you to Andrea, who was not only right on time for pickup but was also incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout the day. I started the tour knowing very little about tequila, and by the end I had learned so much about the entire process, from how agave is grown and cultivated, to how it is harvested, processed, and ultimately transformed into tequila. Andrea did an excellent job explaining the differences between the various types of tequila, the aging process, and how different fruit flavors can be incorporated into certain products. We visited several distilleries and had the opportunity to taste many different tequilas, which made the experience both fun and educational. I was also practicing my Spanish during the trip. Although I had originally booked the tour in English, Andrea kindly helped me by speaking in Spanish when possible and making sure I could understand everything. She was patient, encouraging, and made the experience comfortable regardless of the language. Even though I was the only guest on the tour, I never felt awkward or rushed. Andrea made the experience engaging from start to finish, and her passion for tequila and agave culture really came through. Thank you, Andrea, for such a memorable experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about tequila, agave, and Mexican culture.
I participated in the tour on June and it was the best season to visit. I went there by myself but couldn’t speak Spanish at all, but my guide was so nice to me and talked with me in English all the time that I was able to have full experience in Jalisco!! You can enjoy both history and drinking in each location, which should be fun for all generations!
Very well curated tequila tasting experience! Will definitely like to come back to Jalisco and try their other tour options. We had a chance to visit G4 and Tequila Ocho, which are both very well known tequila brands. Thank you Andie for being so patient with our group, from start to finish. We celebrated a birthday in our group, and they went out of their way to make it special and memorable. Thank you Giancarlo for your responsiveness and for an amazing experience!
This tequila tour with Andrea was so much fun! I enjoyed learning about how tequila is made in addition to the tastings. The tequilas were delicious & I loved the food pairings of fresh fruit, candies, & cheese cake. Breakfast with the locals was very tasty, The town of teauila had many taco stands & tons of shopping. It was a very fun day!
Michelle is an excellent guide—very professional and knowledgeable. I’ve been on other distillery tours before, but this one was especially enjoyable. We had a great time throughout the entire trip, from the first breakfast stop to the final destination. The whole experience felt relaxed and smooth. Definitely highly recommended!
It turned out that my wife and I were the only people on the tour that day, so we had our guide Andrea all to ourselves! She's an excellent leader and driver, and made our day super fun and educational. As we drove, she pointed out the many agave plants growing in the region and explained a lot about the economics of the industry. We got a really in-depth look at tequila production at the Cava De Oro distillery, as well as a fine tasting. After that tour, I felt like I knew enough to start making tequila! We didn't realize before then that cooked tequila tastes great (much like a sweet yam). Then we had another tasting at the Casa Marengo distillery where we picked up some excellent blancos at very reasonable prices. Lastly, we rolled into the town of Tequila, had an elegant lunch at a beautiful restaurant, walked around the city, then did some more tasting at a tasting room in town. All in all, it was a wonderful day and I heartily recommend the tour to anyone who loves tequila and the countryside of Jalisco.
Amazing experience. Very well organized. Couldn’t be more please with the experience, Eduardo was very knowledgeable, the experience was great. We were picked up at our hotel, taken to traditional Mexican breakfast what delicious, then were taken to try pulque, followed by a tour and tasting at two distilleries. Followed by a late lunch or early dinner in tequila we ended the night at El Guero. Over all absolutely amazing experience.
This tour exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and thoughtfully curated. A special thanks to our guide, Eduardo, who made the entire experience engaging and insightful. His knowledge and passion really brought the world of tequila to life. We started with a visit to La Puerta de Hierro distillery, where we had a true cultural deep dive into tequila production. It was not just a tasting, we actually learned the process, the history, and what makes a high-quality tequila. We even had the chance to purchase authentic tequila directly from their shop. The second stop at Marengo distillery was great because we could already start noticing the differences in production styles and flavor profiles, which made the experience even more interesting. The highlight for me was the artisanal distillery run by the Orendain twins, Mariano and Santiago. This was a truly authentic experience, where we could explore the traditional production process in a very hands-on and personal way. Throughout the day, we were also provided with breakfast and dinner, both of which were very satisfying and well organized. Overall, this is a top-class experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Guadalajara and wanting to truly understand tequila beyond just drinking it.
We had an amazing time on a 4-day private tequila tour hosted by The Agave Experience. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned and executed, making it both seamless and unforgettable. Our guide, Andie, was truly fabulous. Her knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail elevated the entire experience. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time, tailoring the day to our interests and making every stop feel special. One of the most memorable touches was when she surprised my husband with his favorite dessert for his birthday—such a thoughtful and personal gesture that meant so much to us. If you’re looking for a unique, personalized, and a top-notch tequila tour, we can’t recommend The Agave Experience highly enough. Ask for Andie -- you'll be well taken care of!
I had an excellent time Amazing tastings I learned a lot about tequila.Agave fields were gorgeous Our tour guide knew all about the distillery process Small group just 3 of us but it all clicked!
We lucked out with this tour as it was just the guide (Andie) leading my partner and me, but she really did go above and beyond with her insightful knowledge and perfect planning of the day.
Andrea/Andie was an amazing tour guide! I HIGHLY recommend. She is super knowledgeable, patient and helpful. There are other more “commercial” tour options however this one give you such an authentic experience and great value. We were a small tour of three people and she gave us so much insight. She was flexible to our needs and request. We started the day by getting breakfast at a local spot and the tacos were amazing, everyone was super friendly. Then we tour two distilleries that are owned and operated in Mexico which gave us a great unique experience. The tequilas were so good! Then later we went to the town of Tequila, explored the area and at food. Then on the way back stopped by an agave field for some photos.
Awesome tour with an even more awesome host. Andrea is one of a kind, you will learn so much about Tequila and the region. Loved the whole experience and the tasty food!
A fabulous tequila tour with Andie & Jorge! We chose The Agave Experience as our tour provider after seeing many other positive reviews and safe to say, it did not disappoint! A well paced tour (not rushed at all) that provides a diverse range of tequila tastings, guided tours and opportunity for Mexican food/additional drink options. Ended the day with a new found love of tequila and appreciation for the culture at Cantaritos #1! Definitely recommend.
Host had great knowledge & lovely personality, tour was small & gave us plenty of time at each location to enjoy the surroundings & vibe
I can’t say enough good things about The Agave Experience Tequila Tour. From start to finish, this was one of the most well-designed, informative, and enjoyable tours I’ve done in Jalisco. Our tour guide was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, articulate, and clearly passionate about tequila. As a mixologist, I already understand the basics of tequila production, but what really impressed me was her ability to go far beyond the surface. She answered all of my technical questions in detail and walked us through every single step of the process with a depth of information I didn’t expect. It was refreshing to be on a tour that didn’t oversimplify things and instead respected curious, knowledgeable guests. Our first stop was Cava de Oro, and it was absolutely stunning. The distillery has a rustic, romantic hacienda-style atmosphere that feels authentic and timeless. The setting alone is worth the visit—beautiful courtyards, barrel rooms, and multiple tasting areas. A detail I really appreciated: all tequila tastings were served in proper glassware, not plastic shot glasses. It elevated the entire experience and showed real respect for the spirit. The second distillery was another artisanal operation, and honestly—it produced the best tequila I’ve ever had. Being able to see the full production side was fascinating: the bottle cleaning room, the factory line, and a small team of women carefully packaging tequila by hand. This tequila felt special, personal, and thoughtfully made. They also had incredible beef jerky on site, which was a fun and unexpected bonus. Later, we headed into the town of Tequila itself, where we had time to walk around the main central area. The energy was lively—people celebrating, music playing, and a small market where you can buy tequila-related goods and local souvenirs. It was the perfect balance of cultural immersion and fun. Lunch was at Casa Sauza, located inside the Jose Cuervo Distillery. The food was good by Mexican standards—solid, flavorful, and satisfying. Breakfast earlier in the day was a small, authentic Mexican spot that felt very local. While the food wasn’t anything extraordinary, it was genuinely traditional and absolutely worth experiencing. I tried cactus tacos for the first time, and once I added cilantro, onion, salsa, salt, and seasoning, they were delicious. A charming touch: there was a friendly pet rooster wandering around the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more authentic. By the end of the day, I was full, happy, slightly buzzed, and genuinely felt like I had made lifelong friends. The pacing of the tour was excellent, the variety of experiences was thoughtful, and nothing felt rushed. If you’re even remotely interested in tequila—whether you’re a beginner or someone with real knowledge—this tour is 100% worth the money. It’s educational, fun, beautifully curated, and leaves you with a deep appreciation for tequila, the people who make it, and the region itself. Highly, highly recommend.
We had a great time during the tequila tasting tour! We were only two people on the tour and enjoyed every moment. Our guide, Andrea, was very welcoming and professional. She explained everything in detail and was very flexible with our time. She also provided us with some great alternatives for spots to visit, especially near the end of the tour, when we went for Cantaritos.
Andrea is an amazing host. She's so knowledgeable, patient and fun to be with. Can highly recommend you take your tour with her. We had an awesome time, thank you.
A brilliant day! So much knowledge and insight, delivered with such warmth. We met other guides during our distillery tours and Andi was by far the best.
Me encantó andar con Andrea. Fue de lo máximo. Aprendí bastante sobre el tequila y los tastings estaban de maravilla I had the best time with Andrea. I learned so much about making tequila and the tasking were amazing. I definitely recommend
We had an incredible time on The Agave Experience Tequila Tour! Our guide, Andrea, was amazing — she explained every step of the tequila-making process with such detail that we left feeling like experts. The tasting experience was excellent, and she even stopped in the agave fields so we could take some great photos. Andrea also took us to a few great local spots where the food was amazing, and we got to visit the viral bar where drinks are served in clay cups. Visiting the town of Tequila itself was another highlight, especially since there was a red-carpet event happening that added a unique local flair to the day. Overall, this tour was the highlight of our trip to Guadalajara. We learned a a lot of tequilas, had a ton of fun, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience real Jalisco culture and the heart of tequila production.
This was a great way to spend a day. From being picked up at a hotel that wasn't on their list, to realizing that there were only 3 of us on the tour in addition to the driver, to the excellent breakfast to the choices of distilleries (one of which I had already tried their tequila so was very excited to visit where it was made. We also stopped in Tequila town for dinner (at our own expense) and a little shopping and then hit an open air bar before heading back to the hotel. Great value for money and Mariana was awesome as our host.
The tour was awesome. Andrea picked us up in a luxurious Lincoln Van and took us to a nice place for a good breakfast. The two destilleries were very impressive, and we learned a lot. She knows so much about Tequila and the art of processing and tasting (she studied food science at University!). We were a small group of four. We were able to Take nice pictures and even stopped at a picturesque tequila field for some nice pictures. At the end our last stop Was in "Tequila" and Andrea showed us this beautiful town and took us to some authentic mexican Bars. We also had some free time to walk around and buy some Souvenirs and discover the town by ourselves. It might be a little more expensive than other tours, but it was definitively worth it!
Best experience ever, made coming to Guadalajara so worth it. Mariana was an amazing host, she really knows her tequila! Would recommend to anyone
I cannot say enough good things about our Tequila tour with Andrea. She is an incredible guide… very friendly, accommodating, and engaging! We had a fun day and received a detailed education in all things tequila. I appreciated the small-group size as well as the boutique distilleries. Take this tour!!
Andrea was great. Very knowledgeable! She took us to two small Mexican owned distilleries and explained the whole process.
This experience was amazing! Michelle was a fantastic host and really great and explaining the tequila process. We had a lot of fun as a group of 5 and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a private experience with their group !
Andrea made our trip wonderful. She was informative, upbeat and patient. The locations we visited were beautiful and the tequila tastings were excellent. Could not recommend this tour more!! She made our experience a very pleasant one!! 10/10
To keep this short and sweet, Andrea is a rockstar of a tour guide. She's extremely knowledgeable when it comes to tequila. We visited two distellieries, both were great. Thanks again to Andrea for the extremely informative and educational tour.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An authentic, educational, and fun day learning about real tequila I wasn’t originally a tequila lover, but I wanted to spend a day understanding what makes it special — and that’s exactly what this experience delivered. Andrea reached out to us the morning of the tour with clear details about pickup time and any traffic delays. Once we set off in her Navigator, she immediately began explaining the “whys and hows” of tequila — from the regions and production methods to the people behind it. Her deep knowledge of both the industry and the science of tequila was impressive, and she could easily answer very specific questions. We stopped for a simple but tasty breakfast on the way to one of the distilleries, then visited two authentic producers — not the commercial “theme park” type, but smaller distilleries focused on fine, artisan tequilas. Each tasting was informative and enjoyable. Lunch in the town of Tequila was relaxed, with the choice to dine together as a small group or do your own thing before meeting later. The afternoon wrapped up with a stroll through town before heading back to Guadalajara. Andrea caters to different styles of travelers — from those who want to learn and savor (like us) to those seeking a more party-style tequila adventure. We chose the former and had a wonderful, insightful day with Andrea and our small group. I now see tequila in a completely new light and truly enjoyed every sip of the artisan bottles we discovered. I look forward to sharing them — and what I learned — with friends and family. Highly recommended — absolutely worth it for anyone curious about the culture, craft, and real taste of tequila. — Neil Minnaar
This was an absolutely wonderful tour. Our tour guide Michelle was awesome! I now have a new understanding of the tequila process. I never knew there were so many different flavors of tequila. I loved the small group one on one experience. I would highly recommend this tour!!!
We had an incredible time with Andrea during our Agave Experience tour! She was so attentive, kind, and incredibly passionate about tequila. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and it made the entire tour feel so special. I learned so much (way more than I expected!) and walked away with a totally new appreciation for tequila. She was also patient and made sure everyone in the group felt included and comfortable. My husband and I are so happy we found this tour...it was THE highlight of our trip. If you're even slightly curious about tequila, this experience is a must! Thank you, Andrea!
Andrea was great! We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, which was super convenient. We had a great time and learned so much. I would highly recommend it!
