It is a long bumpy ride and be prepared to walk on uneven surfaces however it is quite worth it in the end.

It was a great experience. Amazing views. The driver and tour guide were excellent. Very informative!!
We loved our experience visiting guachimontones. What a beautiful place with such unique pyramids and lovely views. The museum was interesting and lunch was great. We loved our driver as well as our guide. The van was comfortable and we would recommend this tour.
Great tour with just the two of us, our guide and driver were both fun to be with and made the trip entertaining and informative.
Ramon was very interesting and very helpful and enjoyable. We loved the archeological site because it was so different from the Mayan sites we’ve visited. The on site museum was very informative and I highly recommend the tour if you love prehistory of Mexico.
Trip departed 50 minutes late, driver took the longest out that had an accident instead of bypassing costing 35’ more to already late trip. No water on tour bus, a bit warm on bus due to stop start choosing the route with the wreck inside of the recommended bypass route.
It was very interesting to visit this historic site and museum. The restaurant where we had lunch was very nice.
This was a perfect tour to the Guachimontones site. I was picked up from my hotel (which was not on the list of hotels in the booking) and we drove about 40 minutes to the site. Our tour guide, Ramon, was very knowledgeable of the site and gave us a good amount of time to see everything. Afterwards, we stopped in the town of Teuchitlan where we had time to walk around on our own and get lunch. Teuchitlan was an authentic town and the locals were really friendly. At the end of the tour, I was dropped off at my hotel. Overall, the trip was perfect in terms of the amount of time we had and the transportation was taken care of. I definitely recommend this trip if you are interested in learning about some of the other indigenous tribes that lived in the area.
Fernanda thoughtfully had us driven to the hilltop to save me the climb given it’s been just 4 weeks since my knee surgery. She provided a comprehensive overview of the site, its history and findings. She discussed the natural surroundings as well as the artifacts and made sure iur tour included the museum and the video in English so that we came away with a good understanding and wonderful experience of the day. Afterwards she stopped at a wonderful tamale restaurant which we enjoyed immensely.
Well worth it, pleasant, professional, lots of info. Our guide was fantastic and knowledgeable. Near perfect weather, views, and histoy.
This was a fascinating place. I learned so much and Fernanda, my guide, answered all my questions. She made sure I had the full experience.
Wow, I had never heard of these ruins or the circulation that created them. This tour was eye opening. A fantastic museum/visitor center. A lot of information. You can’t climb on any of these mounds, but the views down to the lake are stunning. I recommend the visitor center first, to provide context to the ruins. Worth your time to check out the gift shop before leaving. A lot of great items created by the locals.
Just the drive from Guadalajara to Guachtimontones was interesting, seeing parts of the city you’re likely not to see. Guachtimontones is quiet, you feel like you are making discoveries ! Our guide Fernanda explained the history well then the museum was amazing! Really good supplement to what we had just seen. The highlight was the “gift store”, a lovely man whose family had owned the property and has lived there his whole life. He has continued to discover artifacts himself for decades. And created and sells incredible pieces from obsidian and clay and lava from the very property! And lunch at a roadside stand that Fernanda recommended. Valentino, our driver, was very thoughtful and knowledgeable about the roads and avoiding traffic. Double 5 Stars!!!
Enjoyed the ride out, cool little town and very interesting learning about the archaeological findings on the hill above town. Our guide and driver were great. Also enjoyed seeing where the jewelry is made and stones polished. Highly recommend…
Hi!! we came from San Diego to take the tour. We expect to be a good trip but we didn't know it was gonna turn AMAZING. Our guide Ramon was so patient and so thorough made the trip fun for us. A big shout out to Valentin our driver for keeping us safe, he even stop to get me tejuino!! Thank you so much for this experience and for suggesting the books we should look into for more information I always wanted to know my people and my culture and now I can really map my DNA Maping to this area! (I wish I can show you how similar is they map the museum has to the map my 23andMe Gave me a few weeks ago) forever thankful!
Our guide, Hernan was amazing! He made the tour interesting and fun. He welcomed all questions and was very knowledgeable!
I had a good time, I learned a lot about Jalisco, the volcano, and its surrounding areas, very interesting and informative
This is was a great experience led by a great and knowledgeable guide in Bernice. It was fascinating to see the ruins and hear the story about the people who used to live there. It was also very enjoyable to see the museum and all of the interesting information and artifacts inside.
This was an amazing trip. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. We loved the restaurant that they took us to after the tour. It was an amazing venue right on the lake.
Knowledgeable and sweet guide…. Gave the extra cultural touches. There just wasn’t enough “meat” in the tour to be 6 hours.
Great tour, very insightful. I personally, enjoy the adventure of exploring archeological sites. Our guide, Herman, was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
The round pyramids are unlike any others anywhere! The location, between Tequila Volcano and the lake, were beautiful! The interpretive center was great too. Afterwards had lunch, at a great restaurant right on that same lake- with egrets and herons all around, fishing. A beautiful end to a lovely day!
The very knowledgeable tour glide. All the trip and tour were very high quality. We've always been pleased with your tours.
Great tour of Guachimontones. Ramon led the tour well with good explanations, insightful knowledge and a good pace. Highly recommend.
The tour was well-organised! Good service and good speaking english guides. Would definitely recommend!
Herman was a great tour guide. He gave us a lot of information about the pyramids, plants, and history of the land. The museum is small with replicas but has a great video that explains the land. The tour ended with a stop for lunch that had a good view and delicious food.
The scenery was beutiful, the feeling there was peaceful. Our guide was very knowledgeable.it was a wonder to see what was there and how it was restablished for us to see
Great tour. Totally worth seeing. We started on time and ended early because were only a 3 person group.
Our tour guide, Verenice, was AMAZING. She gave us great information during Guachinmontones portion, as well as during our drive
The tour guide! She made the round pyramids more interesting ! She was such a very knowledgeable guide and took the time to explain history and made us feel comfortable and was very accommodating. She made sure we were feeling fine all the time despite the hot sun. Next time we are in Guadalajara, we will make sure that she is our guide again.
Hard to believe that artifacts like this are a short drive away from Guadalajara. Very nice visitor center and the rounds pyramids are amazing in person. Guides were very friendly and offer English and Spanish tours.
Great day! Ramon was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and excited to share his love of Guachimontones with us, explaining different theories about the site's features. I went solo and there were just three of us in total, so it was like a private tour! Communication and pick up/drop off was smooth and easy. Highly recommend.
Worth the trip. Probably more scenic if visit during the rainy season in June when it is probably green.
My wife and I enjoyed our tour to Guachimontones. We appreciated receiving an email confirmation the day before our tour regarding the time of our hotel pick up. Ramon was our guide. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, personable, and accommodating. Thank you. We learned a lot about the site, and the people that constructed the pyramids.
Great experience. This site is well worth the drive. Museum has artifacts and educational material well displayed and there is a short movie available in English or Spanish. My guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and patient with questions. A bit of a hike up to site, take water and breaks as needed. Amazing views of surrounding area from site. Well cared for grounds with few people there on a Wednesday. I understand it gets crowded on the weekends. Great option for some outdoor activity and learning more about ancient indigenous peoples of the area.
They left without me and changed their pickup destination and location , the booking stated clear location and instructions which I followed, the booking indicated to be picked up I would have to contact them to schedule my pickup, I followed directions and they left without me, the agency said I was at fault since they changed pick up time and destination since those being picked up were less than expected and that is why they left early, this was their excuse for me being left waiting at 9:30 at plaza del sol only to be told I missed an early departure. Please refund me the tour.
Guachimontones was a unique experience into the Mesoamerican history of Jalisco. I enjoyed the educational video at the museum and walking around the archeological site. Estacion Turistica GDL was thoughtful and attentive to all tourists.
I had requested hotel pick up when booking tour. I recieved an email the day before confirming this and notifying me of time they would get me. They also dropped me back at hotel afterwards. The tour was a good pace, very informative but relaxed and friendly. Guachimontones and views are stunning. Museum really good. My experience with company and tour was nothing but positive.
My tour guide was awesome. She was super knowledgeable and make sure everyone was comfortable. Trip was great and informative and the pick up option was a bonus.
It was a nice tour. They picked me up at my hotel and I didn't have to worry about anything. Informative and fun.
We felt that the guide was not as informed as he should be, couldn’t answer some of our questions, very impersonal. The email the day before did not let us know there would be no good place to purchase lunch in Teochitlan. It was nice to be able to see the circular pyramids.
So this tour is a bit of a funny one for me to review because everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong. Nevertheless, I had a fantastic time and really this was all down to the wonderful guide (who I sincerely hope was named Alejandro and he gets all the credit for being brilliant, and I will be mortified if I misremembered his name). To begin, I was supposed to be collected from where I was staying by the tour bus that morning however, the pilgrimage of Zapopan was taking place that day and so the whole city was shut down. The tour company emailed and Whatsapp'ed me to let me know that they wouldn't be able to pick me up from my location but that the tour would begin at the offices of the tour company. The tour company was only a 15 minute uber ride away so I didn't mind...except that all the roads were closed and despite heading in the opposite direction from the city the traffic was still crazy. It took me almost half an hour to make the trip, but I made it with three minutes to spare before the tour begun. The meeting place/offices were really lovely and we were able to get some complimentary drinks and snacks before heading off. Our tour guide came around and introduced himself which was lovely, but also helped us pick out who the other people joining on the tour would be so we could introduce ourselves (we were four female solo travellers in total). We then set off, on what was possible the most bumpy bus I had ever been on (my phone recorded me walking 18,000 steps that day, but I absolutely did not!) but our tour guide kept us entertained with lots of facts and stories about Guachimontones, Guadalajara, and Jalisco. I certainly learned a lot - a mark of an excellent tour for me. A couple of the tour members were hungry so we made a quick pit stop to get tacos (yummy) before continuing on our way. It was this willingness to assist the tourists that I think was a real special touch of both the tour guide and the tour company. Then the unfortunately happened, we arrived at Guachimontones it turned out the site was closed! They too were marking the pilgrimage of Zapopan with a well deserved day off. The tour guide/company were completely unaware of the fact that the site was to be closed, and even made attempts to find who worked at the site by knocking on the doors in the local town. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be and we had to return to Guadalajara having not seen the Guachimontones. The tour company rearranged the tour for the following day. Unfortunately I already had a different tour booked for the following day and was to leave Mexico the day after that so I was unable to tick the Guachimontones off the list, but the rest of the tour group managed to go. I was refunded my money. While the day was a flop in terms of site seeing, I nevertheless had a wonderful time, and this was all down to the tour guide and the company. If I am ever back in Guadalajara then I will most certainly book another tour with Estacion Turistica GDL again (both to the Guachimontones or elsewhere) they really were great!
The tour was excellent and I highly recommend it. Dante, our tour guide, was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about the Guachimontones, Mexican, and world history. It's refreshing to have a tour guide who truly enjoys history and what he does - he gave us additional insights on how the Guachimontones connect with the overall indigenous history. Saul, our driver, was great as well! :) The tour was initially set for Wednesday, but the tour company wasn't notified that the Guachimontones would be closed that day for a religious holiday. The tour company was able to re-accommodate us the next day and that's very appreciated since no one in the group could wait until the next scheduled day (Sunday).
Beautiful and unique archaeological site relatively close to Guadalajara, knowledgeable guide and a great driver. Would highly recommend.
Alejandro was our guide and was extremely knowledgeable about the local area. If you want to skip the town of tequila but still want to see the Guachimontones I highly recommend this tour. This tour seems less popular and there were only two of us in the group so it was almost a private tour! We were able to stop in the small town of Teuchitlán on the way back for a very nice lunch at the town plaza.
Tour guide was great, very accommodating and fluent in English. Allowed ability to pause for photos and we had a nice short taco break on the way back
A must-see in the Guadalaraja region, as it is one of only three pyramids in the world. The guided tour with Berenice was excellent- she is a skilled guide and her tour was informed yet informal. I highly recommand!
Bérénice was an amazing guide ! Thé History of the place is VERY interesting, the museum is such a nice expérience and the town Next to It is super pretty. 10/10 recommand !
A must see. The only circular "pyramids", that I know of ,in the Americas. GDL Estacion Turistica are running a smooth operation.Great guides, knowledgeable and a tri-lingual one,Berenice. Our driver/guide, Ramon, knew his stuff very well ,without being pompous.Comfortable and modern a/c vans. Highly recommended.
Amazing history, great tour mostly made so by our extremely informed tour guide! She was very knowledgeable, traveled and pleasant. Be sure to stress to tour guests to bring with them plenty of water and something to eat during the 5+ hours (we did! : )
